I'm glad I finally got to try this place. The burgers are not bad for the price. Just a basic smash burger with cooked onion and sauce, on a hamburger bun. No lettuce, no tomato, no anything else. Still tasty though. The fries are also pretty good for the price. Where they fail however is with the milkshakes. Those are $5. and you get a TINY cup, the size of a small coffee. Don't get me wrong, it was good, just disproportionately pricey compared to the burgers. I almost felt ripped off with the shake. The fries also were not cheap at $4, but you get a lot of them. I was so excited to finally try this spot. We ordered a hamburger, cheeseburger, a 3x3 with no cheese, and some fries. We got everything campus style so just with onions and their sauce and it was all really good! Pretty decent for the price (everything altogether was less than $20) but because the patties are so thin since they are smashburgers I suggest at least a double patty. What attracted my partner to this place was the prices. But after getting the burger, we realized this place is the definition of "you get what you pay for". O instead of ordering ahead and picking up since I was getting fries, I walked over and put in my order. I decided on the #2 (cheeseburger, fries and a fountain drink). I added on my grilled cheese and the total came out to $13.46 (including tax and the Berkeley mandated $0.25 disposable cup fee). I was handed my receipt with my order number and my cup for the fountain drink. I filled my cup with ice and root beer and then sat down to wait for my food. Took a sip of the root beer and it was on the flat side which was disappointing. Waited maybe 7 minutes and then my food came out. The fries weren't hot and crisp like others mentioned in their reviews but they were good. Not highly salted which I appreciated but definitely reminded me of in n out fries but in a cup. The cheeseburger is no frills. Meat patty, onions and a slice of cheese. At first look it seemed like a larger McDonald's cheeseburger minus McDonald's diced onions and ketchup. Don't expect it to fill you up. Now the highlight for me was the grilled cheese. Bread and cheese, that's it and that's how I like it so I didn't mind at all. Super cheesy goodness on nicely toasted bread. Heck yeah! I definitely will be back for the grilled cheese but probably would still head to Mel's or Super Duper if I'm in the mood for a burger. My experience was so whatever and borderline bad that it compelled me to write a review and this place just opened up so I had to try it though Okay, let me start with the good things: the staff here is great. The girl that was at the front counter was really sweet, and even though I ordered on the kiosk, she was nice when I picked up my food and when I came back to ask for sauces and a fork. So no hate to them they're doing amazing. And then obviously the prices, especially in Berkeley, are amazing. Nowhere else in this city can I really get a full meal for less than $10, and they're open late, so it's great for a late night eat after a game, a concert, or some bar hopping. We got a cheeseburger, the double cheese, one side of fries, and the campus fries for our meal. I think we paid like $24 which was amazing. They gave us two cheeseburgers instead of our double cheese, but the employees were sweet enough to remake it and let us keep the other burger as well which was really nice. However, I'm like 90% sure my burger was raw, which is disappointing and also how does that happen with a smash burger? I also think the burgers are kinda lacking and whatever because of the lack of toppings. They felt very bland and one note to me since they just have the special sauce, onions, and cheese. I feel like I needed something acidic to cut thru the flavor. The fries however, were pretty good! So my thoughts are it's just ok, but honestly, for the price, if I had a car I would much rather go to In-N-Out. The staff is sweet and please be nice to them, but the food is like ok at best.
