My boyfriend has been coming here so often after he gets off work because it's open late but I came here for an early dinner once with him on a Monday to try their Birria tacos. For my first time having birria tacos, I.AM.IN.LOVE! When I got there I thought the place was fairly small but they have 2 outdoor patio areas that are open for anyone to sit so there's decent sitting room. I wanted to sit inside and they had the bar or 2 high top tables to sit at. We went in and ordered 2 orders of birria tacos, 1 order of a burger and I got 1 carne asada taco and my boyfriend got an additional al pastor taco. I also asked for chips and guac! The food came out fairly quickly which was super nice because I was starving! I tried the chips and guac first. The chips were made in house, you can tell and the guac was very delicious with the right amount of salt and paprika on top! I would have wanted cayenne on top for an additional kick. Next I ate the birria tacos first which they were still very hot. The carne asada taco was also very delicious and flavorful. It wasn't crowded but I can imagine the place being packed with people around midnight-closing wanting food and drinks. They have a decent number of drinks on menu that's tequila based that sounded very good that I'll have to try some time! Pretty cool spot of Main St that does margaritas, tacos, and burgers. Order at the counter and they bring your goods to you wherever you're sitting. Their margaritas are flavorful and done quite right especially the frozen Margarita. For food, you can go wrong with tacos and this place does a solid job especially with the al pastor, barbacoa, and steak & egg. My friend got the cheeseburger which she enjoyed. The fries were weak though; nothing to write home about. But everything else satisfied us. I can only imagine what this place was like before COVID. Outdoor seating is plentiful or you can sit inside if permitted. Parking can be packed so you might wanna park on the street or uber here. I never thought I'd find one of the best burgers in houston at a taco spot. cantina Barba delivers with their take on the infamous smash burger. Gooey American cheese, a toasted bun, pickles, decent size patty (none of that paper thin patty) and a fantastic sauce to tie it all in. Bomb. The watermelon agua fresca is delicious, the chips taste and look homemade. The queso is bomb, and they even grill cheese onto your taco. The establishment itself is pretty amazing, it being 3 stars does not mean it's awful just some things that should be improved. The food: first I ordered the chips and queso, it said the chips were homemade and the queso. It was actually pretty good, the chips were crunchy so good enough to scoop and hold the queso. The tacos were a little expensive at $4.5 for a street taco. The chicken was a bit dry and felt it needed some kind of sauce for lubrication. The smoked pork was pretty dry as well, being that it was smoked I added the salsa but it still had a dry taste. The Al pastor was the best! It was moist and flavorful! The quesadilla was probably also the best! I had the Al pastor and it was absolutely delicious! The cheese and meat had a great marriage with tastes. It did not need salsa but it for sure enhanced it. The margarita was pretty strong, it's definitely worth the money if you're looking for a drink! The service: I ordered the food with the bartender, it came out pretty quick because I sat down and waited maybe 5 minutes at the most for it. The ambiance: I love being able to sit outside and the wooden tables were really comfortable. It was not overly populated on a Monday but that's to be expected for most places. Cheeseburger is great, tacos not so much. I've been a couple of times, the first time I got tacos and was disappointed as a majority of items on their menu are tacos. I tried the cheeseburger recently after a friend recommended it to me, and it was surprisingly really good. I added bacon which gave it a good crunch and they toast their bread to compliment the burger. The house made pickles were a bit too sweet for my liking, but still good. Overall, I'd recommend the burger over any menu item. Their chips and salsa missed the mark for me. The salsa lacked flavor compared to the salsa's they provide with the tacos. Their chips must be freshly made there as they come out super warm and very crunchy, great flavor on their own. Their hibiscus agua Fresca is a little bitter and not too sweet but if tastes very close to authentic agua de jamaica. Their watermelon agua Fresca was a bit too sour for my liking. I stopped by Cantina Barba for dinner on a Friday before a concert at White Oak. This casual Mexican spot delivered. They have a parking lot and I had no trouble finding a spot. From there, you order inside and they bring your food out to you. There is limited seating indoors but they do have a nice patio. The weather was beautiful so I sat out on the patio. I ordered two tacos (one barbacoa, one pastor), elote, and an agua fresca. They have two different types of salsas with one being mild and one spicy. The tacos were up there with some of my favorite taco spots in Houston. Authentic and delicious. The elote was tasty too. I'd definitely come back to try out some more items on their menu. Good food, but service has gone downhill and not what it once was. On our last visit, we waited 40 minutes for our food. There were three of us and we each ordered 4 tacos. There were only 3 other tables occupied so it was a pretty slow Saturday afternoon. Unfortunately, I had to go up to the counter to check on our food twice; once after 20 minutes and a second time about 15 minutes after that. On my second time asking, one of the kitchen cooks informed me that the people working the front counter had forgotten to pass on my order... YIKES. We received no apology for the delay or for the mistake on their end. We were offered to go boxes as their way of trying to make amends... When the food finally came out, it was cold. This was after a 40 min wait. We finally decided to give up, finished our drinks and left. We've been customers here for 3+ years and have seen a steady decline in service at this establishment. Sad, but it seems like money is all they care about now. What a super cool little new gem that I found. If you ever find yourself hungry after a concert or a night out this is your place. We ordered a Mexican cheese Burger, 3 tacos and some elote. This place is where the old Spanish flowers Mexican restaurant was. I was sad to see it gone but excited to try a new spot. A friend of mine actually recommended it too! We were at white oak seeing a concert and decided to stop In and grab a bite and a drink. It was cute, small indoor space and lots of outdoor space, there was also a small bar detached out to the side, parking was not bad, they had a small lot and there was street parking all around. There was a line waiting to get in, you actually order first at the counter and pay then and they bring the food to you via number system. We ordered some chips ad queso, I ordered a smoked pork taco and Barbacoa. The chips and queso were fine, nothing great, my pork on my smoked taco was over cooked so it was a bit on the dry side, Barbacoa was ok too, nothing great. Food came out quickly though. The highlight of the night was the spicy cucumber margarita I had. Yummy, I would definitely order it again. We visited Cantina Barba on a weekday afternoon. There is a small parking lot out front, but we were lucky enough to find multiple spaces. The staff is always extremely welcoming and quick. I love the rustic set up they have. There is seating available both inside and out. We chose to sit inside to stay out of the heat. The drinks and the food were delicious. No other folks dining in but a steady stream of folks getting takeout. Service was excellent. Decent space and in good weather, their new patio should be a winner. The burgers are a hidden item on the menu as this place really is a taco spot (they looked good at $2.50 each and they have a nice variety). We got cheeseburgers with grilled onions ($5), fries ($4), and drinks. Damages were $30 with tip. Burgers are "very good" - don't know if "best" applies. Been stoping through here now for a year or so to grab takeout tacos. Their Margaritas are all strong, and a good deal during happy hour. More recently, we've eaten on the patio a few afternoons and enjoyed our time and the weather. The tacos, burritos and dillas are all legit, maybe a little greasy, but that's why I'm here. This stuff fills you, and is super cheap in the scheme of things. Not like taco hell, gonna be on the can cheap, but solid value all around. I will say the staff was unbelievably nice and very attentive. For me the seating was a little bit of an inconvenience, the place is small so indoor seating is very limited and outdoor setting there is a lot but I feel like I had to fight for a table. Also, I would make sure the weather is nice before going. Margs we're good food was great! If you have gotten this far in reading my post do yourself a favor and GET A QUESADILLA!!! Its the best thing on the menu for sure.
