Ok...We live in LA...The Capital of great Mexican food, outside of Mexico. So when we went to Cantina Frida, we thought we would get some really good Mexican food since it was in Beverly Hills. Hmmmm...it was ok. Don't get me wrong. The restaurant looks great with the high ceilings and open kitchen. The server was also great...the food... Looks can be deceiving and everything we ordered looked great but that's where it ends. Fresh guacamole, made at your table...too much lemon. Most tacos had this chipotle-mayo and they drizzled it on like it was a funnel cake with chocolate syrup. That just made the taco soggy and couldn't taste any of what was inside of it...shrimp, lobster, octopus...The dessert was something like a churched up churro from Disneyland. Again, looked good... Great food. Cantina Frida is my go to restaurant in Beverly Hills Hills from Mexican food. Love it there!

Our first time at this location and let me tell you that it won't be the last. My husband and I had an amazing date night. The ambiance here is great. The restaurant is decorated for Christmas with lots of red poinsettias and lights. It's the perfect place for a family dinner or night out with friends during the holidays. We ordered cocktails to start which was delicious. A Cadillac and a Adelina. We enjoyed both very much. Elotes and Steak Fajitas was our choice for dinner. We shared it and it was the perfect portion. I saw a lot of other items on the menu which I would love to try in the future. We were not super hungry tonight so we shared a main dish and an appetizer. (Also an order of chips and salsa) Our waitress Valeria was amazing, she was friendly and attentive. She made our dining experience a very pleasant one. Overall a great place to try when in Beverly Hills. read more

The food here is not good. I had the chicken mole poblano and it was a couple of chicken tenders like the kind you buy at Trader Joe's with like a jar of mole poured over it. It wasn't marinated and the chicken didn't really pick up the flavor of the mole. The "Spanish" rice was sad. It was a scoop of dry flavorless rice and looked like it came from a cafeteria. The only decent part of the dish were the maduros that had nice crisp edges. $32 for a crappy dish is not worth it. Also the "salsa" and chips is a tiny cup of puréed tomatoes, should be free not $4. The food was delicious and they do charge for $4 for a basket of chips which I found unnecessary. It should be included! This is one of my go-to's when I am in LA. We always get the Healthy Bowls and my friend gets an Irish coffee with Baileys. It's usually around $18 for the drink. We often also just go sit at the bar and get the same drink. Last week, we ordered the same drink as always. The bartender seemed very confused and took forever entering our order into the iPad, that should have been our first clue. He then brought over two espresso martinis. He disappeared before we even realized what he had put down (we were chatting.) He was gone for at least ten minutes, we were the only ones at the bar. So we just drank our drinks, which were lovely even though it wasn't what we ordered- we were trying to be nice assuming he was new. Eventually he came back and started talking with a woman two seats down from us who had just arrived. He never looked up at us even though I tried to subtly get his attention for the check. Finally, he brings the check. Over $50 for two drinks! We questioned it. He explained they charge for each ingredient separately (what?!) and that included a top shelf whisky (which he had told us would only be $3 more. He also claimed there was a $6 charge for Baileys even though there was none in the drink we were served. He just kept arguing and saying the same thing over and over. We were tired and just wanted to get out of there so we paid and left- no tip. We are so sad to have such a bad experience at one of our favorites. read more

My boyfriend and I eat out daily here in LA at the best and nicest restaurants. Daily as in everyday. I just placed a pretty large order for the both of us and asked for Utincils and hot sauce as I'm in a hotel tonight. They wanted to charge me for the hot sauce and salsas which I don't like places nickle and dine like that especially as it's large order and there are other restaurants that are better as they don't need to do this especially in Beverly Hills. The hostesses here was the MOST unprofessional and rude person I have honestly EVER, in my life, encountered in any type of service based atmosphere. I never write reviews, because I have worked in restaurants and I understand people and places have off days - but this experience was enough to make me write my first review. I will say our server was wonderful and none of this was his fault the restaurant is too big and they need more servers it seemed. We came here for a friend's birthday. When one of my friend's first and only drinks arrived it was watered down and tasted off - I tried it, it was gross. With no servers in sight my friend took her drink to the hostesses. Who, while not her exact words, basically said it wasn't her job to care and my friend should take her drink back to the table... the hostess wasn't busy, mind you, it was early on a weekday and there were no guests in sight to be walked to their table. And while it may not be her "job" to handle that she could have easily said, "let me get your server or a manger to help you with that." So simple. And this girl could not be paid to care less. When my friend asked for her manager the hostess said she didn't know where he was. So my friend had to go looking for the manager, finally found him and got the drink replaced. After it looked like the manager talked to the hostess about what happened, the hostess proceeded to stare down our table and give us the dirtiest looks ALL NIGHT. As if making hideous childish faces at our table would somehow intimidate a group of 5 grown women who are there to celebrate a birthday. It reached a point where it was just comical to me that someone like that was hired to be in the customer service position that she is in. read more
