    Gnocchi

I came here recently with a date and had a great experience! The staff was so sweet and patient while we ordered. We started with cocktails, I had the seaplane, which turned out to be the same as paper plane, which is my fave! Then we shared the burrata place, which I recommend! It comes with sweet figs and some nice toast. For the entrees we shared the sweet potato gnocchi and also the Baked Cannelloni with creamy sauce. It was soo good. I did not love the gnocchi as I thought the red sauce was a bit overpowering and there was something a bit spicy in it. However I loved the Baked Cannelloni especially with the crunchy pumpkin seeds on top for a texture contrast. I would definitely come back here! It is a bit tucked away in a residential area but it's very popular so make a reservation!

I was so surprised to find such an upscale restaurant in the middle of a residential neighborhood. We did not need to make a reservation and were seated right away on a week night. I imagine weekend nights are more crowded. We started off strong with the carpaccio. I've actually never had carpaccio before, so I can't say how good it was. I wish there were fewer toppings on it, honestly, because the meat seemed to be great quality and I wish I could taste it better. I got the gnocchi. It is still the summer menu, so this had a sweet, emulsified corn sauce with cherry tomatoes, some greens, and cheese. I didn't realize the sauce would be corn based (I thought it would have been corn kernels when ordering). It was good, but the corn does make it very sweet. All of the pasta is made in house. This gnocchi was really good, but I am a fan of very tender gnocchi, so I honestly wish that it was more tender. My dad got the ragu. This was probably the best thing we got. I am such a bolognese/ragu girl, but I was trying to be adventurous. I should've gone with my go-to order, though. I can tell they make the sauce with a lot of time and care. Finally, we got the affogato. The ice cream is hazelnut based. Delicious.

This Italian restaurant has always been one of my go to spots. Very cozy and such a cute date night spot. Tables are very close to each other. If you are dining in around 7pm, the restaurant is super crowded and loud. You have to speak loud for your guests to hear you. They also have outdoor seating with fire pits to dine at. Outdoor seating is dog friendly. However, I normally prefer the 5-6:30pm time slots if you are sitting in doors. Keep in mind, spring/summer - it gets really hot in doors - there's no AC. As for food, everything is always food. We normally get the staple, pappardelle alla bolognese, however, we decided to order pasta dishes that are available on the spring menu. My favorite was the Paccheri - Italian sausage, fennel, roasted pistachio, pecorino. The espresso martini is always good too. Highly recommend. The Pici alla Gricia - guanciale, black pepper, pecorino - was ok, nothing special.

The restaurant is pretty The lighting is lovely The hostess was friendly The service was initially good The gnocchi arrived luke warm; it felt like I was swallowing little pillows of coal. The steak ($58) came out medium despite requesting it medium rare. The meat was tough and the steak knife sawed through it like wet carpet. The worst part was the end. We were abruptly informed our time was up despite having not finished our entree. They offered to move us to the bar. We declined. The server brought the bill. Someone else told us to get up. We said we were paying. The server took the bill. The hostess came over and told us we had to get up NOW emphasis on NOW. More people checked on us in a span of 2 minutes than they did in two hours. I probably wouldn't go back. Dinner was $180 without dessert and if I felt like being rushed outta a restaurant I'd go somewhere trendy in New York where the attitude is merited by stars

Perfect cute outdoor patio spot for a girls night! Every dish we got was so flavorful and rich - they're known for their pappardelle bolognese, but also adored the vongole, carbonara, and gnocchi. The gelato was also insanely creamy and true to flavor. Great house wines and cocktails as well and exceptional staff!

We went with a big group for restaurant week (with a reservation). They were able to sit us in a semi-private area which was great for catching up! The whole staff was very accommodating! The food and wine were delicious (ESPECIALLY THE GELATO). The servers were friendly, helpful and patient. The whole night was very seamless and memorable!

Stopped in for Seattle restaurant week with some guests visiting, and was a little weary based on mixed reviews but so glad we tried it!! Between the 4 of us, we tried everything on the tasting menu and everything was delicious. Pasta was fresh and well cooked. Ingredients were quality and for me the beet appetizer was a highlight! We so tried a few cocktails and they were all tasty and well priced. Ambiance was super cute, we were in a back room so the commonly mentioned noise wasn't an issue for us. Service was friendly, attentive, and well timed.

This is such a wonderful little spot in Wallingford. Intimate and cozy date night option. Staff were welcoming and considerate on where we sat to ensure the best experience. The food was really good and reasonably priced. Appetizer: Polpette (meatballs on whipped potato) - highly recommend - so good. 4/5 stars Entrees: mushroom risotto was smoked like a mezcal. Most interesting and tasty risotto I've had in a long time. Leftovers were even better the next day! Tagliatelle was very light, simple, and filling. 4/5 stars. Dessert: zappole - Nutella stuffed. Warm, melting, sugary. Perfection. 5/5 stars. Don't recommend large groups above 4 people. Make a reservation ahead.

The waiter was on top of everything but also provided excellent recommendations. And then there's the food... We had many different menu items and all were spectacular. Some highlights were the peas, the fresh tomatoes, and the asparagus. The pastas have been on the menu for 18 years and for good reason! The eggs yolk pasta was my favorite - rich but amazing. The other two following it on the menu were lights out as well. I felt the pork was a standout then I had the salmon and couldn't decide which was better. It didn't matter and a good problem to have! Although I only had the paklova I can say everyone loved their desserts. The paklova was absolutely lovely!

Even though the restaurant wasn't particularly busy during our visit, our server was extremely quiet and difficult to hear, which made communication a bit challenging. One nice touch was the complimentary bread service, which came with a generous amount of butter. We started with the artichokes from the seasonal menu. I was expecting them to be served warm or roasted, but they arrived cold, which was admittedly a misunderstanding on my part. The accompanying sauce was excellent though and definitely saved the dish for me. We also ordered the tajarin al ragù, one of the restaurant's signature dishes. Unfortunately, this was where my expectations and experience diverged. The pasta felt under-seasoned to me, and the noodles seemed overcooked. Rather than the silky texture I was hoping for, I found myself eating what felt like clumps of dough. It was a dish I really wanted to love given its reputation, but it just didn't click for me. We weren't looking for a heavy dinner, so we only ordered a couple of items. It's entirely possible we came on an off night or simply didn't choose the restaurant's strongest dishes. I'd be open to giving Cascina Spinasse another try in the future, but this visit left me feeling a bit underwhelmed compared to the hype.

I was quite taken by the restaurant. It even hosts a wonderful view of downtown Seattle and a peak of the Puget Sound. The restaurant is small and intimate. This Italian-style restaurant served one of the best meals I had at the time. So when the opportunity to return came, I wanted to run there from my home. We were immediately shown to our table, and drinks arrived with little effort. One thing to watch for is that they offer sparkling water or tap water. It is easy to think of it as an option, but the sparkling water is a few bucks by the bottle. With four people, it is easy to go through a few bottles quickly - this is my weakness since I have replaced soda with sparkling water. We began with cheesy flat bread and baked goat cheese. The cheesy flatbread was amazing and delicious, and the baked goat cheese was out of this world. I can honestly say that I did not know what to expect, but the baked goat cheese with Taro chips was delightful. What is a trip to an Italian restaurant without a Caesar salad? I added grilled shrimp that were just wonderful as well. This Caesar had a creamy dressing, croutons, and shredded parmesan. The dressing was not overwhelming, but the croutons were a bit hard and difficult to chew. I would give it a B-. I had the PENNE SPECIALI ( mesquite-grilled chicken, spinach, tomato, mushrooms, white wine butter sauce). The description of this dish was better than the flavor. Salt is a flavor enhancer, but when you add it to the dish after it's been cooked, it's like lukewarm coffee - it's okay, but you would have preferred it hot. For dessert, I had the caramel, chocolate custard with chocolate sticks. This was heavenly, and I would eat 100 more. This is a dessert worth the wait, and I do not advise you to share because you will get less. It was the perfect finish. One secret restaurateurs must know is that ambiance, setting, and conversation enhance the food experience, but if the food does not complement the other parts of the experience, something is lost. This place has everything: the view, service, and dining intimacy. Why leave the main dish out of the experience? I want to want to come back like I did the first time I fell in love with "That's Amore."

It was really quiet there early in the evening, but by time I got there, it had filled up Considerably. They were able to squeeze me in at the bar. When I say squeeze, it was a squeeze. The inside, though, is so cute. It's built in an old house, so it has really intimate and cozy vibes. I chatted with a couple sitting at the bar at the end of my meal as they gave me a bunch of Seattle recommendations, which was so nice. They told me about the concept of the Seattle freeze, but based on my interactions today, I don't know if that's a thing. The bartender, katie, also comped my drink to welcome me to the neighborhood which was so kind. I started with the material girl cocktail. To me, it felt like their version of a spritz, of some kind. It contained lavender, St Germain, soda water in a bit of Prosecco. It was a perfect summer beverage. It was light and refreshing, but also has a little bit of sweetness with the lavender and elder flower. It also had a little bit of cucumber in it, which can sometimes be offputting in a cocktail, but I enjoyed it. It was just essence of cucumber. I also had the warm olives. These ones had a good portion size. They were also served Warmed which I enjoyed. next, I have the Caesar salad. The dressing was delicious. Very Heavy on the anchovy which I loved. It was a huge portion though, so I'll give them points for that. They also offered without me having to ask fresh cracked pepper, which, on a Caesar, in my opinion, is a must. Moving on to mains, I couldn't decide, so I got two. I definitely overordered, but in my defense, the pictures of the dishes looked a lot smaller than when they came out. I thought it would be like a true primi course, but it actually looks like a full-size dish. oh darn, I have to eat more pasta, shoot. My first dish was the carbonara. This was probably a top Five carbonara that I've had. All of the components were perfect. The guanicale was perfectly crispy and almost caramelized. The egg and fresh cracked pepper in the sauce along with the cheese were just so creamy and could've come off as heavy, but it was done well, so it did not. I actually really enjoyed the Mafaldine pasta shape for the sauce. It allowed the sauce to coat multiple areas sides of the pasta, and the sauce being Relatively simple compared to other sauces, I think it worked well for the dish. The pasta tasted fresh and was well cooked. Not as al dente as I normally like it, but I prefer a pretty al dente pasta, so I can't fault them for that. Next was the spaghetti Bolognese with saffron spaghetti noodles. Usually, I always will choose a Bolognese, but I actually preferred the carbonara. The Bolognese was still really good, but I just enjoyed the carbonara slightly more. The saffron in the noodles was an interesting touch. These noodles tasted homemade for sure. I liked that the Bolognese was spicy, but I was not expecting it at all. There was lots of meat in there, and there was an even ratio of sauce to noodles, which isn't always the case with Bolognese. I love that there was tons of fresh Parmesan on the top. I was so full, so I couldn't get the Tiramisu which is so sad, but I will have to go back and get the tiramisu because apparently it's an Earl Grey tiramisu, and that sounds delicious. Highly recommend a visit here.

We started off with cocktails, I had the Pink Pony Club (gin, strawberry rhubarb, vermouth, white balsamic) and the Material Girl (st germaine, vermouth, cucumber, lemon, prosecco) both of which were extremely creative and refreshing. We also decided to start with fresh focaccia which was so light and fluffy and a great start to the meal. We ordered two pasta dishes: the Paccheri (sausage, mushrooms, seabean pesto) and the Mafaldine alla Carbonara (guanciale, egg yolk, pecorino). The Paccheri was wonderfully refreshing with the seabean pesto and notes of lemon but I do think my favorite dish was the Carbonara! It was the perfect amount of richness and the guanciale was perfectly crispy. Overall this was a lovely experience and our service was attentive without being suffocating at all.
