I came here recently with a date and had a great experience! The staff was so sweet and patient while we ordered. We started with cocktails, I had the seaplane, which turned out to be the same as paper plane, which is my fave! Then we shared the burrata place, which I recommend! It comes with sweet figs and some nice toast. For the entrees we shared the sweet potato gnocchi and also the Baked Cannelloni with creamy sauce. It was soo good. I did not love the gnocchi as I thought the red sauce was a bit overpowering and there was something a bit spicy in it. However I loved the Baked Cannelloni especially with the crunchy pumpkin seeds on top for a texture contrast. I would definitely come back here! It is a bit tucked away in a residential area but it's very popular so make a reservation! read more

Loved everything about this place. The setting was intimate and beautiful (though a bit loud) and the service was seamless, attentive, warm, and thoughtful. Showed up for our 21st anniversary in our wedding clothes. The house swiftly brought us complimentary champagne. THE FOOD was outstanding. Unique and perfectly balanced. I was so surprised to find such an upscale restaurant in the middle of a residential neighborhood. We did not need to make a reservation and were seated right away on a week night. I imagine weekend nights are more crowded. We started off strong with the carpaccio. I've actually never had carpaccio before, so I can't say how good it was. I wish there were fewer toppings on it, honestly, because the meat seemed to be great quality and I wish I could taste it better. I got the gnocchi. It is still the summer menu, so this had a sweet, emulsified corn sauce with cherry tomatoes, some greens, and cheese. I didn't realize the sauce would be corn based (I thought it would have been corn kernels when ordering). It was good, but the corn does make it very sweet. All of the pasta is made in house. This gnocchi was really good, but I am a fan of very tender gnocchi, so I honestly wish that it was more tender. My dad got the ragu. This was probably the best thing we got. I am such a bolognese/ragu girl, but I was trying to be adventurous. I should've gone with my go-to order, though. I can tell they make the sauce with a lot of time and care. This Italian restaurant has always been one of my go to spots. Very cozy and such a cute date night spot. Tables are very close to each other. If you are dining in around 7pm, the restaurant is super crowded and loud. You have to speak loud for your guests to hear you. They also have outdoor seating with fire pits to dine at. Outdoor seating is dog friendly. However, I normally prefer the 5-6:30pm time slots if you are sitting in doors. Keep in mind, spring/summer - it gets really hot in doors - there's no AC. As for food, everything is always food. We normally get the staple, pappardelle alla bolognese, however, we decided to order pasta dishes that are available on the spring menu. My favorite was the Paccheri - Italian sausage, fennel, roasted pistachio, pecorino. The espresso martini is always good too. Highly recommend. The Pici alla Gricia - guanciale, black pepper, pecorino - was ok, nothing special. read more

The steak ($58) came out medium despite requesting it medium rare. The meat was tough and the steak knife sawed through it like wet carpet. The worst part was the end. We were abruptly informed our time was up despite having not finished our entree. They offered to move us to the bar. We declined. The server brought the bill. Someone else told us to get up. We said we were paying. The server took the bill. The hostess came over and told us we had to get up NOW emphasis on NOW. More people checked on us in a span of 2 minutes than they did in two hours. The atmosphere is warm and cozy, the service is genuinely welcoming, and the food was exceptional -- they make their own pasta and it shows. This is such a wonderful little spot in Wallingford. Intimate and cozy date night option. Staff were welcoming and considerate on where we sat to ensure the best experience. I really wanted to like this place. The first time my family dined here, the food was fantastic. Last night, however, was not. We ordered the Tagliatelle, the Baked Cannelloni, and the sweet potato gnocchi. Each dish was extremely salty. The gnocchi was dry, and the cannelloni was mostly sauce. On top of that, it was very loud, and we could barely hear each other to have a conversation. The staff were great, but I don't think we'll be back. read more

Delayed review- we came in on Valentine's Day. We liked our server! She was super chill and checked in on us the right amount. Kept our water glasses full. In terms of food, it was definitely underwhelming considering the price. Our entrees came out lukewarm for some reason- we ordered a steak and a shellfish pasta (it was like a prawn/lobster?). The steak was a little too peppery and slightly overdone. My pasta would have been delicious if it came out hot, but the portion was so small. I would have gone home hungry if we didn't order and finish 2 appetizers. The highlight of our meal was actually our dessert- the Italian donut, a Zeppole. We'd come back just to eat this again, it was phenomenal. The ambience was also lovely, since we requested a window seat and were relatively removed from the noise. :) it was really nice of them to honor it. Overall, the people, the service, 5/5! Great Italian food in Seattle! For starters we ordered the focaccia and it was soft but honestly tasted more like cakey than bread. The pork was so tender and it falls right apart. The sweet sauce is a really good pairing with this! The pastas were all cooked really well. Everything was flavored well and each sauce was unique and different from each other. The finish off, we got the zeppoles which is fried dough with a nutella filling. The mascarpone was super light and it balanced out the heaviness of the dough! Loved this meal but the inside is very loud. It took away from the experience as I could barely hear the people at my own table even when we were shouting at each other. read more

We happened to be in town for a concert so we made reservations at Cantinetta, which was recommended by a friend. The place is really small, but cute and intimate. Our reservations were at 5 and my friend hit traffic on I-5 and showed up at 5:15. The hostess immediately came up to us and said they needed our table at 6:30. Seriously!? The server came over and I asked her about the time limit. She apologized and said each table gets 1.5 hours and we try to tell people ahead of time. We accepted this - kind of put off. We ordered several dishes to share and each dish came out separately but they wouldn't bring the next dish until we finished it. It was so strange! The food came out at a snail's pace. At 6:15 our main course was served - so that gave us 15 min to eat a ribeye. If you want to rush your guests out- you need to work getting the food out faster. Seriously- we dropped $180 bucks - but we were rushed- and it was so off putting. The food was delicious but I won't be back after the service. read more

It was our second time dining at Cantinetta tonight and we came for a little double date night dinner with friends. The four of us shared the brussels sprouts and burrata for appetizers. The brussels sprouts were delicious (highly recommend ordering these) and the burrata was pretty good. For our entrees, we ordered the pici amatriciana, risotto, pappardelle alla bolognese, and rigatoni. My rigatoni was wonderful - I loved the mushroom cream sauce and the fennel sausage in the dish but wish it came with more for $24. I typically can't finish a whole bowl of pasta and take home leftovers but I finished my dish and found myself still hungry after. Unfortunately, my boyfriend's bolognese was cold when it came out - not even lukewarm which was a huge bummer. The service was fairly good. Our server was nice. The food did take awhile to come out though. The ambiance is super cozy and romantic in here - the perfect place for a date night. I love the warm dimmed lighting in the restaurant. I went here tonight and got the Manhattan and Italian Greyhound for drinks, the Brussels sprouts and Burrata for appetizer, and the Pappardelle alla Bolognese for my entree. The Italian greyhound was stall and not sweet. The Manhattan was the worst drink I ever had. The Pappardelle Alla Bolognese had good flavor but was very cold. The best part of this meal was the appetizers, and I would get the Brussels sprouts and burrata again. Overall, this place gets a 3 for its excellent service and ambiance. We were seated quite quickly in a cozy little space with candles and pretty decor around us. The hostess was very friendly and kind. The team was very attentive and made sure we were well taken care of. Our wine was perfect with our food. We ordered the focaccia (the olive oil is Devine), and the butter lettuce salad with citrus. I really wanted pasta and this was close to my place so I made my husband go with me. The restaurant is quite small so We made reservations for 6:00 and was seated right away. The staff were friendly and welcoming. They brought us drinks right away. I ordered a glass of wine and that came within minutes. I ordered the tagliatelle With egg and my husband ordered the pappardelle. The food pretty much came out within 10-15 minutes. I don't remember waiting very long. The portions were quite small for the price that we paid, but it was good. We ended up having to go to to another restaurant to pick up a quick snack since our portions were so small. Didn't welcome us, interrupted rudely while we speaking to each other (no issue if you do it nicely) and then was angry when we asked about a desert. He told me to look him I the eyes when he explained the dessert. Weird dude. Ryan should never wait on anyone, frankly I'm surprised he is working anywhere on the service industry - he belongs cleaning toilets with that attitude. But toilets will too good for him. Ryan was just a tool. Management should do something about him. Not from Seattle but will never go back and will recommend anyone to stay away. read more
