Food was ok but service was slow, at least 3 employees sitting in a booth on their phones and good lord the AC was off. It was 119 outside and at least 80 inside. Rice was dry and crunchy. In the last 4 months there was the "rice incident" of 2024 where they stopped serving rice with entres to charge you extra! That was reversed after a few weeks where I imagine their sales went way way down. Then the price on all items went up24.5 percent and the quality went down by 62 percent: I'm a numbers guy. Let's just say that we were pleasantly surprised by the quality of food and service we got at this fine establishment. Our going into Canton bistro was purely accidental, we were supposed to go somewhere else. But what a happy accident it was. We started off with egg flower soup which was delicate and flavorful. The lettuce wrap was way better than what we get at pf chang's. And the entree was just delightful. Our server was on top of every need. She was definitely Top notch. We loved this tonite We sat at the bar and Icela was the bartender , server and everything in between . The food was honestly the best of chinese in this desert. Her service was quick, effficient, and accomodating. We started with fried shrimp appetizers then ordered bbq pork fried rice, kung pow chicken, orange chicken and LOVED everything and have enought left over for a week. After finding out I tested positive for COVID I ran to my go-to place when I'm feeling under the weather. Been coming to Canton for years! Love this place! But today turned my stomach so sour! I ordered Uber to be sure I don't infect others only to find a baby cockroach in my wonton soup! I understand things can get weird from time to time in a restaurant, but bugs is totally AVOIDABLE! We've been customers here for many years and the service is usually lacking but tolerable for the most part. This visit my family and I witnessed the hostess and a female food Server sabotage our food Server Daisy. We even raised our hands for service as the hostess and Server looked right at us and immediately looked away, giggling and whispering to eachother. Neither one offered assistance but it was very apparent that they were intentionally refusing to help their coworker Daisy and in the meantime, we were ignored. The hostess repeatedly looked over at our table and one other that was needing help, but when we would lock eyes with us, she would shift her eyes towards Daisy, as if to signal to us that we were not their problem. Daisy was apparently running the restaurant floor by herself when her coworkers called her to the hostess stand and argued for a few moments while we all watched and waited. Daisy was great, we would return just because of her, but those other two need to take behavior and restaurant training classes. It was heartbreaking to witness. read more

Went to the bar, woman came and asked what I wanted- I asked if they had a drink menu- because it's a Chinese restaurant and sometimes they have fun drinks that need explanation..... she said "No. I smiled and asked if I could have something fruity? I was going to expound on my request, but her absolutely RUDE , rolled eyed, dismissive reaction pissed me off so much I said " uh, noooo. Don't bother." And she huffed " just tell me what you want!" I repeated- no, I don't want anything. Then got up and sat in the waiting area for my food. This place is a hit and miss. I've had very good freshly cooked food there. And I've had experiences where the food was dry and overcooked. I'm guessing that they are short staffed. In anticipation of having more customers than they can handle at once. Some of the most common food ordered is cooked ahead of time and left warming indefinitely. Canton Bistro was our go to place since 2015. Good price, great flavor and good portions. I always recommend it to others. Unfortunately, my most recent experience wasn't so great. My favorite dishes had little to no flavor, very small portion for an extremely high price given the quality and quantity. I've spoke to others who have recently had a similar experience. I realize operating costs have gone up so prices will follow. The unfortunate thing about this is quality has gone down. I don't mind paying for good food but food not this. A handful of shrimp for $18 way too expensive for what you get: canned vegetables toxic button mushrooms and not fully cooked carrots and peas. So placed an order to pick up. The person who took the order couldn't understand me so I spelled each item and my name. Arrived to pick up food and the woman was very nice and apologized that they couldn't find my order. She asked three times how to spell my name. Finally she said it would be a few minutes as one item was still being prepared. After waiting 20 minutes longer than initially told it would take, she handed me my take out order. I got home and one item was piping hot. The other two items were cold and disgusting - like they had sat out while the last item was prepared. No need to ever come back to canton bistro! I ordered the chicken low mein yesterday. So flavorful and scrumptious, never disappoints.

My server Jenny was the best. She had the best customer service from the jump. We sat down and she greeted us, took our drinks and appetizers down. Jenny's coordination with other staff members including other servers and food runners were on time and very accommodating. Jenny was up beat and funny. We are a pretty decent size party. Almost every Sunday after church we'll look for somewhere to go eat. We usually have a hard time because most times we have about 20 people with us. Just not on this particular day which we were a party of 7. I'll finish this review with this. We asked our server Jenny to take a picture of our group outside and she kindly did.
