This was a great surprise to us; it is the restaurant inside the Courtyard by Marriott hotel (3rd floor). We yelped it and it delivered. We have a party of 3 and were not starving. Ordered 3 appetizers and bottle of wine. None disappointed. Everything was splendid. Appetizer portions are big. So are entrées; we saw them in the tables near to ours. Food was cooked to perfection. The ordinary food was served extraordinarily. They also have creative new ideas like the guacamole crab dip which is out of this world. This is an amazing place to dine, if you're in the area. It is located directly inside the Courtyard Oceanfront hotel. Bae and I decided to check this place out while on a Mini-Vacay. Atmosphere: 5 out of 5 There's a guy on piano as soon as you walk in. He's awesome. He played Happy Birthday for someone's Grandma as they presented her cake. I thought that was super cute. There are TV's and a bar area on the right. Standard variation for booths and tables. This restaurant has a little bit of something for everyone. Food: 4 out of 5 Everything was good, even the water was amazing. Bae got the duck and loved it. It was my first time having duck and it was very flavorful and the they give you two sauces to accompany. The rice was fluffy and seasoned, and his sweet potato was great too. I had the lamb but it initially didn't impress me. (STAY AWAY FROM THE DEMI-GLACÉ) the sauce made my lamb soggy, which almost ruined the meal for me. They were able to crisp up the lamb and remove the Demi-Glacé for me. Mashed potatoes were so on point! The presentation was everything. Green Beans were expertly flavored. Service: 4 out of 5 Our server was awesome. She was right on point with everything. She could describe every dish and what it came with. I'm taking one star away because she told me she couldn't take the lamb off. (I didn't want to create drama so I obliged) I initially wanted the steak and lobster so I should have stuck with that, but lesson learned. All in all, I was mostly impressed. We took my sister in law there for her birthday on January 15, 2023. Understand that I've been coming to the Captain's Table since it was in the Santa Maria Motel. And although I was mildly disappointed last time we were here, this time was much better. Our waitress was Kim and she did a fine job. We skipped cocktails and appetizers and went right for the main course. My sister in law ordered lobster tail from the menu, not from the 'special lobster menu' that has been advertised in the local paper. She said it was just right and flavorful. She thought it was a little strange to serve mashed potatoes with lobster but went with the flow. My wife ordered the seafood risotto, and thought it was delightful. The serving was big enough that she took home a doggie bag and enjoyed the remainder for lunch the next day. Unfortunately, the Seafood Risotto no longer appears on the menu. I hesitantly ordered the Steak Frites, which is grilled steak on top of french fries. I hesitated because the steak in question is a flat iron steak. Now, I enjoy flat iron steaks, BUT in the past at other establishments, I have sometimes found the meat to be tough. Also, my pet peeve for Ocean City restaurants is that they don't know how to cook meat. I think it unconscionable that a chef not know how to cook EVERY item on his menu, not just the seafood. However, this time, I found the meat not only to be tender but also to be properly cooked. I ordered medium rare and it came out medium rare. Tender and tasty, what more could you ask for? I am staying at the Marriott. Decided to order some carry out so i can relax in my room and eat. I'm very disappointed with the service. I ordered a Caesar salad with chicken but they didn't cut up the chicken. They served it in two big pieces. The only compliment is that the crab soup is delicious. Just strange they served it in a big coffee cup. Overall I give them two stars. They over charge for the food and the service was horrible. I will never eat there again. read more

My friends and I decided to try this place out because we wanted great seafood that's close by where we were staying (around the boardwalk). Its location surprised us because it's in a hotel and was a bit too fancy for a casual beach trip, however, the food was spectacular. I had some: 1. crab dips-- really good! 2. Raw oysters-- seems to be fresh and yummy, I only had one... 3. Salmon stuffed with imperial crab lumps with suateed spinach-- amazing and stuffed! I had a martini, but it wasn't as great ( too sweet to my taste but I'm sure their other cocktails are good. A set back was their slow services. Went to OC during the off season and had a difficult time finding somewhere to eat. This place was open and next to our hotel, so we said why not. For the price of the food, the quality of it probably should be better but I have no complaints about the food itself. Got a pasta dish with chicken and cream sauce, it was a huge portion and great. I just had the worst encounter at this restaurant. My fiancé and I are staying at the hotel. We went down to grab some breakfast (thinking it was the hotel lobby restaurant). She eats all natural because of her dietary restrictions so she brought some sushi to have while I ate breakfast. The hostess seated us after we explained what we had with us. The waitress took my order. Then about 10 minutes later here comes the manager. She walks right up and very rudely says "I'm Laura Taylor and I'm the manager. You can't bring food in here - it's illegal. We can't be responsible for food you bring in." I get it - and have no issues with that - what I DO take issue with is her rudeness. No "I'm so sorry but we can't...." No "can I make your order to go so you can dine together in your room?" - nothing in the way of good customer relations. I told her to cancel my order and offered to pay for the cup of coffee. It's off season, 50 degrees and rainy. I would think they'd want to be a little more cordial to those tourists who are here. But I guess they don't need the customers. I definitely won't be going back there! read more

We stayed at this hotel two years in a row. Food was decent. Good place to go when in a pinch. The bartender working on Saturday 8/24, could be friendlier and not come off as if customers are bothering him. My wife and I had our anniversary dinner here. The ambience was nice and not stuffy at all. Our waitress Alex was wonderful. She made excellent recommendations..macadamia encrusted halibut with sauteed spinach. I got the ny strip with lump crabmeat and shrimp scampi. Everything was delicious. We couldn't finish our entrees because we devoured our app of guacamole and lump crabmeat with tortilla chips. Probably one of my best tasting apps anywhere. Yikes! Not too many restaurants open on the boardwalk for Sun brunch. We just camped at Assateague and were hungover/starving. So perhaps the food wasn't the best, but just tasted delicious under the circumstances. I recently went to Captain's Table with my family. I had been told that the food was very good there. The restaurant is in the Marriott, but it was formerly in the Santa Maria hotel in the same location until that hotel was torn down. I figured that perhaps the restaurant would live up to expectations, given that it had re-opened in the same location. The food itself was much better than average, especially in Ocean City standards. I had a great salad to start, and the steamed clams were awesome. My special tuna entree was prepared just as I'd asked -- seared rare. The tuna was very tasty. Given the food experience alone here, I would have rated the restaurant at 4 stars. But it was the drink experience that ultimately led me to rate them so low, and even to write the review in the first place. My aunt and I tried to order their limoncello cocktail, made with their homemade limoncello. It sounded great, and really, it was the only specialty drink on their menu that didn't sound overly sweet. Unfortunately, the waiter came back to inform us that they were out of the limoncello. We quickly reassessed the menu and chose a runner up. My aunt got a cherry martini that was sickly sweet and very artificial tasting. I chose the "French Kiss," which was made with Ciroc Grape Vodka, Vanilla Vodka, and a splash of cranberry. I thought it sounded like it had potential. Instead, I received an $11 glass of dimetapp cough syrup. At least, that's exactly what it tasted like. Everyone at the table tried it and agreed. I couldn't drink it. Terrible experience. Maybe it was an offseason problem (we were there mid Jan) but not acceptable for the price. Once our server came, we ordered drinks (beer not cocktails) and started waiting. Our beer came after about ten minutes, so of course we were ready to order. I ordered a medium rare steak, and my fiancé ordered blackened fish. Neither dish should take too long even if they "cook to order" as they claim. One hour after we arrived we were finally served, kind of. My dish came as one order, steak with mashed potatoes and green beans. However everything was cold. When they brought my full meal, all that came for my fiancé was her fish, a boring plate of three pieces of fish (again cold) and a sauce in a plastic container. We were told her sides (steamed broccoli and French fries) would be there shortly. After about five minutes, she received her fries, the first food that was actually hot! But still no broccoli. She asked for the broccoli and a little extra bread. As we waited far too long for broccoli, we saw the order of bread we asked for delivered to them next table, who had just arrived and they didn't bring them butter so we assume it was for us. Fed up, I asked for the manager. After 15 min of growing annoyance, at least he broccoli finally arrived, someone came to talk to us. I explained what had happened, and he said he would comp half the meal and get us new food. I said that was not going work, then he told us he was not actually a manager,and there was not one there at the time. I ate here for lunch during the off season and it was nice to find a place that was open! The service was excellent. I never wanted for anything and they gave me several good tips about what I could see in the area during this time of year. There wasn't much of a view, except for other buildings, but the atmosphere was quiet and relaxed. I had the Maryland Crab Chowder which was good, lots of lump crab meat and a good broth. For lunch I had the baked brie and tomato sandwich which was good, a little too cheesy, I kinda wished I'd had something to break up all the bites of cheese with like some lettuce or a side of fruit. It was served with potato chips and a pickle. Price was good, definitely worth it. Overall I didn't find the dining (at least for lunch) to be anything too special, but the servers were excellent and made it a pleasant lunch read more

I have trouble understanding why crab cakes and other crab dishes, in Maryland, even ones as good as these, cost in upwards of $30, but it's hard to complain when the dinner is this good. read more

Had dinner here at the recommendation of a local friend. The restaurant is located on the ocean side of the Main Street in the Marriott hotel. There was a man playing the piano as we entered the restaurant. It was lovely music and we enjoyed that very much. We were sat at a table and within a couple minutes were greeted by our waiter Keith. He was very friendly and explained the specials and the menu to us. My meal began with oysters on the half shell. Not bad, but a bit gritty, so I was a bit disappointed there. For meal I ordered Blackened Tuna with buerre blanc, a fresh lump crabcake, a baked potato and Caesar salad. All were delicious and a nice portion. The homemade tarter sauce was very good and a nice change from the standard. My dinner companions had the Macadamia encrusted Halibut which she said was everything she had hoped for. Dinner companion 2 had Blackened Salmon with a lump crab cake. The salmon portion was a bit on the small side in comparison to the 2 other fish dishes, but nonetheless was tasty and well prepared. All in all a very good experience. Our waiter Keith was excellent and had a sense of humor, the piano player was an unexpected treat, and the entrees were great. 4 stars mainly for the gritty oysters and a couple smaller things. Just an observation/suggestion: the silk or plastic flowers on the tables are tacky and cheap looking. Tables would be so much nicer with nothing or a single fresh flower. read more

Because of the abbreviated menu I'll miss the 50/50 mixed crab soup and the side of mushrooms, but how can you take lobster off the menu? The restaurant is still very clean and the service is always fantastic but we'll have to sadly find a new steak and lobster venue. read more

The food is great with generous portions. while it may be pricey by ocean city standards, it is really affordable given what you get. the downside is the ambiance: no ocean view, no outdoor seating. the tables remind me too much of a hotel restaurant... which it is. if this place had outdoor seating (or at least an ocean view).. it would be perfect. read more

I do not know why people put up with this place, and it's rock bottom hospitality! Restaurants, if they want to continue in the restaurant business, need to show some gratitude to their guests. The best breakfast that we had at ocean city. Considering the quiet waitstaff, I was expecting a little bit of a disappointment. The food, however, was excellent. I got the eggs, over-medium as I like them, with a little bit of bacon and some hash browns. When I first received the bacon and hashbrowns, I thought that the potatoes were odd- instead of being small slivers of potato, they were entire slices. The bacon was cooked well- just a little bit crispy, which made it great. My girlfriend, Natalia, ordered some sausage as well as two eggs and hashbrowns- I tried the sausage and thought the bacon was better. The eggs themselves were great! The eggs were cooked well enough; but not too much. Not only that but the yolks, which I prefer to be slightly runny but not flowing with yellow- were perfect. Getting them over-medium told me that the chef knew his stuff. My girlfriend enjoyed her portion, too. All in all, this has DEFINITELY been the best breakfast restaurant at OC. read more

Not a good breakfast experience. Had the "local favorite" crab meet hash. Looked like some mega mart cheese slices melted over the meal like a hat. Potatoes were humongous and overpowering. Peppers were all over the place in how well done they are and in size with some so big they overpowered. All in all the non crab ingredients masked and hid the star of the dish. My family and I come here almost every summer because the food is really delicious and high quality. This place is a bit pricey so I would only recommend it if you are okay with the prices. They also have some good kids options for the younger ones. This is a definite quality restaurant. The filet mignon with shallots and demi-glaze was amazing. We also had chicken with shrimp which was a large portion and delicious. As a special my husband had pork chop with mushrooms and couldn't stop talking about it. All portions including the sides that come with your meal are large and you will definitely be taking some food home with you. The waitress we had was attentive and pleasant (sorry I can't remember her name) . There was a piano player in the restaurant and was far enough away which gave the restaurant a easy listening experience while dining. The absolute worst experience I've had at a restaurant! Food was 3 hours late, uncooked and freezing cold. We had to keep running to the bar to order drinks because our waitress showed up every hour or so. My friend ordered a dinner which they ran out of and instead of asking him what he wanted, they just brought him some other meal he didn't ask for which was ice cold. Our "sides" came out 20 minutes after we finished our ice cold meals. They gave us half off the meal we didn't order though-how nice of them. Situated on the third floor of the Marriott, the restaurant is a bit difficult to find if you don't know what to look for. There's just a small sign on the boardwalk pointing the way to The Captain's Table. The atmosphere is definitely casual, lots of tourists in shorts and t-shirts. But the service and food make The Captain's Table an upscale gem. It's well-worth the trip. Probably the best overall restaurant in Ocean City. The lobster tails are AMAZING and the filet is perfectly cooked. Do yourself a favor and order a side of the lobster-filled mashed potatoes - You will not regret it. The margaritas and mixed drinks were very well-made and delicious. They definitely do not skimp on the alcohol. The service was friendly and casual. We were sat quickly and the food was brought out in a timely fashion. Next time I'm in Ocean City, this will be the first restaurant I'll bring friends and family to. read more
