Update: Mike, the manager called me around 10am this morning and apologized on behalf of the staff. He owned up to their mistakes and poor service even though he had no personal involvement as he was not working when I came in. That's a sign of a good manager in my book, as it would've been easy to just blame his employees for their actions. He instead told me he made a point to discuss the situation with his team members and coach them on how to handle similar situations in the future. I've worked for good, bad, decent & great managers... None of which ever took the time to personally respond to a Yelp review/corporate complaint without being told to by a DM. Mike seemed very genuine and apologetic and wanted to make sure I was taken care of. I ended up getting a new box at Car Toys of McKinney off of 380 and 75 the next morning and it looks/sounds awesome! No complaints with that store either. Upping the star rating to 2, because although the manager is awesome and did his part to correct the issue, their were multiple employees who could have stepped up to the plate as the situation occurred. read more

I went in to get a car radio installed. I will say up front that they installed the radio and it works great. No fuss, just installed. The problem I had is that they made me pay $30 for a $3 dollar part. I didn't know what a wire harness was when I walked in, and I thought it was going to be a pretty expensive part, the way that they talked about it. But no, I looked up radio wire harness for a 2007 Corolla on Amazon, and found nothing over $5. I immediately felt gypped. Luckily, I had the good sense to buy the radio and DIN adapter myself, otherwise, I probably would've paid an exorbitant parts fee. The job should have cost $50 just for the install. It ended up costing $80 total with parts (for that ONE wire harness). Disappointing at the least. Good work, horrible morals. I would've been happy paying $80 to install a radio. At least you're honest about the price you want me to pay. Just tell me up front. Don't cheat me in the name of "parts". Great install job tainted by greed. read more

Came here because Toyota installed a lemon for a radio in my Tacoma and I was finally ready to do something about it. Dealt with Bobby who was nice. I didn't do any research on my radio before the purchase but I can say that I am very pleased with my touch screen Pioneer radio. The guys were available to do the install that day and it only took about an hour. Kevin was the main one who did the install and he was cool. They answered all my questions and even gave a discount on the cord I needed to plug my iPhone into the radio. The selection of radios is great and they have free wifi while you wait. If I knew of somebody that needs a new car radio I would recommend Car Toys. read more

Late on Friday afternoon I decided to do some research on car stereos. I was sick of my old car stereo with non-Ipod compatibility. I found the stereo I wanted at Best Buy but they didn't have the kit I needed. The BB service sucked too. I called Car Toys and talked to Jeff around 7:15. He said they could install the model and had it in stock. I raced over there and was in by 7:45 and out by 8:30. Great service and the installation was quick and painless. The highest kudos to the Plano store & employees! I originally wanted to replace an older, unknown Garmin navigation device that the previous car owner had sold. The salesman looked at my car, and, rather than try to sell me a new unit, he spent several minutes on the Internet researching discontinued units until he found the one I needed. Then, he found several for sale on Amazon & eBay and wrote down the model # for me to reference. I thanked him for all the time he spent and left. After looking at the cost of replacing a 5-year old, discontinued device, I decided to buy a new unit instead and also purchase a backup camera and a remote starter, so I went back to the store. They installed the remote starter for 1/3 the price that two other companies had quoted me (my car is a Volvo, so this took some additional & careful research for them). Upon installation, one of the camera parts was defective, and they didn't have a replacement in their store but located one at the Rockwall store. The next morning, I met the installing technician at the Rockwall store (which is 30 minutes closer to my house than the Plano store), and he finished the installation there (a much farther drive for him). Everything works great, I saved money and couldn't be happier! They excel in professionalism and service! read more

Wow where to start? So came into this location looking to get some help on why only my door speaker's were working... and ready to spend some money to get it fixed. I came here because they are supposed to be the audio experts BOY WAS I WRONG First of all the employees seemed unwilling to help by their demeanor. Had to re-schedule 2 times until they could actually even look at my car...They only proved I was right when they finally took a look at my car and said they would have to put in a new amp and new wiring because they had NO WAY of checking if the factory amp was working or not and if I wanted them to work on it like so, they would charge me for the labor either way. So I asked for a quote... here is where it gets interesting... they quote me a total price of $546.57 with the cheapest amp and labor with wiring. WOW are you serious? You cant even check if an amp is in working before you decide to tell me I need a new one? is this the typical Car Toys experience? This was my first and last time doing business with car toys. Please dont make the mistake to give these guys your money. Spend it were there is actually a sense of customer service and you are treated as a valued customer. read more

Installation was great, however they missed something so I have to go back. They were nice and accommodating for the minor adjustment. My frustration comes from the sales-person and more importantly the story manager of that particular day. I got a new stereo with two new speakers. I told the rep I was looking for something with a read camera and Apple Play. I honestly believe he sold me what I was looking for. However, he insisted the camera that came with the stereo was bad because it was not adjustable and I should be an Voxx ACA800. As it turns out, by adjustable he meant the angle of the camera itself. What he didn't mention was the stereo had adjustable guild-lines and the Voxx ACA800 did not and the Voxx's lines were permanent. That may not sound like and issue but the camera is over to the right just enough to make the lines off by approximately 1.5 feet, which mean I am getting really really close to cars as I am backing up. I don't know if they make a commission or bonus but the Voxx camera was a complete waste. You do not need to adjust the camera if you can adjust the lines on the screen. When I called the manager to explain this and has for some resolution I said, "you sold me a superfluous camera". He immediately interrupted me and said that he didn't sell me the camera. I asked him to not interrupt me so I could finish my question but I could finish that statement because he interrupted me again and said, "I didn't sell you the camera". I finally said that is the correct use of the word because you represent Car Toys at this moment and he said I insulted him and hung up on me. I called back and he hung up on me again. Took car in for Ultimate detailing but the exterior wash was sloppy. There were spots that were missed, door jams were still dirty and interior had leather treatment lotion blob on back seat. So I walked in, this overweight sales person (by any means I'm not pointing out his weight but I want to make sure everyone knows who he is) was sitting down not wanting to help. All sales representatives were busy helping other customers, so I approached this person which already seem bother, I asked him few questions, his answers were sarcastic and seem bother that I was even asking. Customer service goes a long way in this type of business, I know I'm not spending a penny here, I will take my money someone else. read more

This place is a total disaster and fail to see how they remain in business. I went to them because I thought they have a solid reputation in the business. I have a very customized jeep where the front radio unit had gone out. The jeep and radio unit were only a year old but the radio was aftermarket and put in by the group that redid the jeep along with a kicker sub and amp. Of course cartoys did not carry that brand and the manufacture of the old unit was next to impossible to reach to even see if there was a warranty so I made a decision to replace it with an expensive Kenwood unit. I at least thought I would get better service should there be an issue in the future when making this decision. I could not have been more mistaken. No sooner had I brought it home and the subwoofer quit operating. They also put the microphone for cell phone usage in the most asinine place where it looked terrible and was prone to being knocked out. My wife is the primary driver on the jeep and called the store and talked to a salesman who claimed she just needed training on the interface. Then, The entire unit went dead. I brought it back in with the host of issues we have, including the satellite antenna that constantly craps out in pure sunlight with no obstruction. They did move the microphone to the steering column which does look a lot better and works better too. I was told that the amplifier for my subwoofer had died and had sent an emergency shut down to the unit to protect itself. I am not sure how much I believe that. Please keep in mind all this equipment is only a-year-old and driven by a Plano house frau. I asked what it would be to replace the amp. The answer I got blew me away. The salesman (who obviously never talks to his install techs) stated that they would have to replace the entire sub/amp combo and rewire everything! The salesman claimed it was designed to use with the factory system and therefore did not have the wiring needed for the current system. He also claimed that the amplifier I had was matched strictly to the sub woofer as it was a package unit originally even though the amplifier was mounted under a seat and the subwoofer in the back. It was absolute crap. I have had other systems in my life and never heard of such ridiculousness. To start, the system I originally brought in was NOT stock so how would that not stock system function with a stock matching amp and sub?. I attempted to call him on his bullshit and he stuck to his guns. So I left the store angry with an expensive Kenwood front end and a non operational subwoofer and satellite antennae that craps out every five feet. This all cost me about $1500 to make it sound worse than it did before I ever showed up. To top things off now my upper LED lights do not turn on. I do not trust these people to even fix this. These men are butchers and the only professional term they should call themselves is screwups. If you want your car messed with, to be lied to and bs'd, this is a great place to go. They are not to be trusted with anything they claim, especially if you own a nice vehicle. Consider yourself a mark. read more

The extended waranty you guys sell is terrible. I paid $120 bucks (extended warranty) so you could send off my head unit to be repaired. That is not the actual bad part. The ridiculous part is that the head unit was only $175 and the sales person tried to make me believe that was a good deal for a warranty and acted like 4-6 weeks without a radio was acceptable. He suggested that I didn't have to pay for shipping or repairs...what a great deal! Those aren't expenses I should have to deal with anyway...I bought a product from you, it's your responsibilty to take care of a defect in it. Ultimately, I did pay for those things since I bought the warranty. To be out of your radio without any sort of replacement deck or whatever for that time is such poor business practice. Obviously noone tells you repairing takes 4-6 weeks...they just want you to believe they always replace, which would obviously take less time. We deal with enough crooked sales in dealing with cars, these guys are no better than any used car saleman. Unfortunately I am captive to this now...which sucks. Obviously, being without my radio for 4-6 weeks has left me with a bad taste in my mouth that I have now exressed to Facebook, their page and mine, and yelp. I may get another review site to make sure the word gets out. Last install here...ever. read more

Walked in, no one said a word. Poked around the amps and speakers for about 10 minutes, pick out which set I want and walk to the desk. Someone in a red shirt and another in a black shirt are staring at the computer talking. I wait for about 5 minutes without being acknowledged or asked to wait for a minute (everyone gets busy, waiting never hurt anyone)...but they didn't even look up to even say hello. Walked out. We just left Car Toys at 2801 North Central Expressway in Plano, getting a back-up camera issue taken care of through Car Max. Although Car Max was paying the bill and had already provided a PO number, Car Toys would not left us leave. We waited about half an hour with them refusing to return our keys to us. When we decided to call the police, the keys appeared. Just want to warn other people about this location. If you don't enjoy conflict and are not an assertive/aggressive person, you may be happier in a less hostile environment. read more

Great place for auto detailing and customer-centered care, especially if you know exactly what you want and when you want it done. If you are looking for a "spit clean" detail, I suggest checking this place out! I took my Tundra in for a full cleaning, and these guys did it right! They even removed two paint scuffs that I thought were going to be permanent. The interior looked spotless; my truck hasn't looked this good since I first got it. There was some back and forth on the price, but ultimately the Car Toys staff provided a great detail for a great price that was customized for me! Check this place out. read more

This was one of the worst detailing job ever. I bought two groupons for 2 cars. The first truck they did a wonderful job that truck had been to hell and back. So on Saturday I took my second vehicle. The looked at it and said they had to charge me a up charge for it being excessive. (Actually the truck was worse than the car) so I said ok. So not only did the not get it clean they simply said its not gonna come clean. So I asked for the manager and he said he spent two hours working on the vehicle. And he walked off with an attitude. I was very upset with the service we waited 30 minutes before someone even spoke to us. When someone did finally say something he said he would be with us when he could that they were busy. There was maybe 3 other people in the store and other workers behind the counter. I had received a Car Toys gift card for Christmas because I needed an updated radio for the used pick up truck I had bought this summer. David greeted me shortly after arriving in the store and helped me find the right radio for what I wanted. I found out that I had left the gift card at home but they were able to find it in the computer and give me the credit for it. I was so glad I didn't have to drive home and get it. I asked him how long it would take for the install and he said 45 minutes to an hour...45 minutes later it was ready. He told me that since I had bought the unit there and had it installed there that the install was lifetime warranty. If I sold the truck, they would remove the new radio and install the old one at no charge and put the new radio in my other vehicle for the installation fee. I dropped by Car Toys in hopes of finding a knowledgeable sales person to help me choose a backup camera for my car. I waited for 15 minutes before someone became available. The sales person was sick with a hacking cough. I have an autoimmune disease and asked him if he was sick. He said no I just need a cigarette. As a former smoker, and someone that has a poor immune system I didn't think that was funny. He did not know much about the radio/monitor equipment. He continued talking and talking and repeating himself. Then he would go up to the counter and ask co-workers questions. They were irritated with him and were not helpful. It was a disaster and an hour wasted. I found a place, Earmark in Plano that took care of updating my car. I am so glad that I saw how Car Toys fell short on being helpful to a customer. In March of 2011 I purchased an Audiovox Prestige keyless entry system from this store. Recently I lost the remote. on October first I ordered and prepaid a replacement remote. I have just now been advised that the replacement had arrived. Three months to order a part. Then I got to the store and they wanted me to wait hours while they installed an expensive valet switch so they could program the remote. No, they couldn't just attach a valet switch long enough to program the remote. They wanted more money for something they should have done at the beginning. I refused to spend all day and more money. Now I have a worthless system. I am not amused. read more

So I took it to car toys in Plano off central and they rewired my whole system and had it sounding incredible in 3 hours, they didn't charge me an arm and a leg to do it either. Awful installers. Do yourself a favor burn the money you would spend here and pay the blind neighborhood kid $20 to install your stuff it will come out infinitely better. Picked up my car they changed everything we discussed without calling me, the right front speaker was not even hooked up, the left was connected to the right side and Ended up arguing with them for 20 minutes over this obvious stuff. Finally got half my money back and they pulled all the wiring out in front of me in the parking lot because they refunded my amp install fee. read more

My wife had to get a new phone so I went along and we both wound up with LG phones. I switched from an iPhone. Biggest mistake you'll ever make. The LG phones are pieces of crap. The first day I got it, it just shut off. I called the store and they said "just pop out the battery and reconnect and it should be fine." WHAT? Can you imagine calling an Apple store and hearing "just disconnect the battery?" The people at Car Toys on Parker seem to want to blame me for the bad phone saying it has "water damage." But it was screwing up the FIRST DAY I GOT IT before it had time to get any water damage - and it has not been wet anymore than the iPhone was which was never. So, today, January 18, 2012, I am taking this LG piece of dog *^&_ back and getting the OLD iPhone hooked back up. No, it doesn't have all the new features but it actually works. I'll let you know just how cooperative these guys at Car Mart are this time. The phone has NOT had water damage. If it had, I'd say so and deal with it. But I won't lie and will not take blame for a faulty phone. BTW, my wife's phone has no "red marks" and still workd about 1/2 the time. read more

I have been using this particular location to do work on my last 4 cars. I have one new car from Dodge that I unfortunately have to get serviced at the dealership to maintain it's warranty. When my daughter turned 4, I was forced to retire my brand new fully loaded Trans Am for a mini van. To make myself feel better, I took it to them and they loaded a crazy good stereo that made that wagon into a party machine. But when my daughter turned 11 I found myself a single dad and got to go buy anything I wanted which was a brand new 4x4 Dodge Ram Off Road which also got a great stereo install that kept me happy as long as I owned that truck. Next came a Jeep and again, a over sized audio install replaced the factory head and a large amp and sub was stuffed in. Each of these cars got over 5 years of service without a problem. Then I bought a new Challenger that I can't do anything to but the week after I bought it, we got a giant ice weather system (Early Dec 2009). I hadn't been without a 4x4 for over a decade and had become dependent. Short on cash I found an old '95 3/4 tonne 4x4 that I ended up really liking. Car Toys installed a remote start unit that has been working flawlessly until a dude tried to run me over and broke my remote starter on my key chain. During the reprogramming for the new remote, issues happened that affected some of the operations of the vehicle and I wasn't able to take it in for service for over 3 months. I feared I had taken too long. But when I described the problems they asked to keep the truck to diagnose the odd electrical problems. I also handed them some OEM parts that had broken on the door and asked them to fix that. Simply a few hours later they had the pesky electrical problem licked and my door was good as new. I was spared hundreds of dollars diagnosing what the issue was by the LIFETIME WARRANTY that comes with each of their installs. THANK YOU CAR TOYS!!! Car Toys is selling interior detailing on Groupon and luring customers into their shop and slapping them with additional charges to get their car properly cleaned. Run!!!! You're better off going to a dealer for detailing or any car washing place for a professional clean. That's what I eventually had to do and paid a fraction of what they claimed was a good offer. I went into CarToys thinking they had given me a good deal on Groupon only to realize that they had their own interpretation of what "clean ALL cloth" means. What is being sold on Groupon is the basic of the basic and not worth it at all!! I was considering taking legal action against CarToys and Groupon for deceiving customers but For now decided to warn others out there by writing this review so pleole can be aware and make their own decisions or call CarToys before making any Groupon purchase. read more

The staff was nice enough but they seems clueless at times. I received a car stereo from this location for christmas and went up there a few days later to get it installed. I arrived 30 minutes after they opened and was told it was a first come first serve basis. After getting all the installation paperwork in order i was quoted with a 4 hours time before my car would be ready. I deal with car ppl all the time so i figured it might take a little longer than quoted but not by much...8 hours later my car was ready to be picked up. They never called me to tell me this. I called multiple times during the day to get an update. Each time I called, they could recall who I was, couldn't find the phone number or records we'd left with them and had to go find the car. They did not give me an updated quoted time. Finally I got tired of waiting and went up there around 8 pm to pick up my car. It was ready in the parking lot. No clue how long it was sitting there. I still never received a call. I really wish that this was handled better on their part. Maybe mine was a fluke and they just dropped the ball this time. read more
