Normally I don't bother writing reviews. But I was just there at 5:05 the website and their doors say they close at 6pm. Had to stand around and wait for someone to come out. Then the person at the front asked nicely for me wait so she can call someone out to give me an estimate. And after waiting some more I get politely turned away and told to come back on Monday. They should have just told me up front that they were closed instead of advertising that they were opened till 6. When I asked about it they had the audacity to tell me they haven't changed the signs yet. It was definitely a very poor customer experience to be turned away like that before I even had the chance to be a customer. Why can't they have the curtesy of using a closed sign and save me twenty minutes of my time. read more

I joined yelp just to write this review. I would have given 0 if I could. told a week to repair my truck, took 4. promised each week it would be done. When I finally got it back, it was horrible, they didn't paint everything, they broke my dashboard, installed a chipped window, subbed out to an upholster for my headliner, horrid job and they wouldn't get it fixed, I had to go to the upholster to have them fix it. They didn't even install the bolts to my back seat after they took it out. I noticed after I had it for the weekend and my kids road in the back, Espanas told me it was fine, i didn't have to worry. I'M SORRY, ITS MY KIDS LIVES!!!! My insurance made me take it back to them as the work is warrantied. 5 days turned into 3 weeks again. Sunroof leaks, doors leak. EVERYTHING THEY DID THEY DID WRONG!!!!! Horrid customer service+horrendous workmanship+nonexistent quality control= livid vehicle owner, extremely mad insurance company, and a scathing letter to the Better Business Bureau of San Jose (which these guys claim to be a member of). This review is about their customer service (lack thereof) only. I took my car to get a quote for fixing some body work. This was one place out of five that I visited, so I have some idea of customer service from car body shops. First they told me to come back after half an hour. I came back and Miguel (estimator) took a look at the car. He took my contact info and said he would email me the quote. Fine. The next morning, I had not received the quote. Called them up and was told I would get it later that day. Waited another 24 hrs ; no quote received. Looks like they didn't want my business, so, I took my business elsewhere. read more

I just got a call from my insurance company asking if I was happy with my auto claim. I realized it went perfectly! And it couldn't be because of the insurance company, although they do ok, it was because of Espana's. They were so helpful with my claim. They worked with the agents to get the estimate, helped me get a rental car near the shop, got some extra expenses covered once they found some hidden damage, and even fixed a problem with my AC I had forgotten about! This is the second time i took my car to Espanas because the first time I took it there I was impressed on the great work that they done to my car. It was Miguel that handled both my claims and he was super nice and answered all of my questions and concerns. My car needed a paint job and had really bad dents on the door, a friend of mine referred me to Espanas. When I got my car back It looked like a new car. I got so many comments on how nice and new my car looked. So when I got into an accident I decided to take my car back to Espanas. The side of my car was damaged bad and also the rim. I just got my car back today and again it looks perfect! He even polished my head lights because they were foggy and yellow. Something that would have costed me like $45+. He told me that now my head lights will be brighter and more safe. You can tell the first time you talk to him that he does care and Espanas does care about your car. read more

I drove a 1976 Toyota Corolla, 33 year, 233,000 miles later, still running on it's original engine and transmission. It suffered 2 rear end accidents in its life time with MINOR damages. (Just knock the back metal bumper off line). That Toyota is solid metal!!! It was harder and harder to find parts for it. It was dying of old age so Toyota suggested that it's time to buy a new car. My Mom is totally disabled/wheelchair bound,...several times we had a mechanical breakdown. We needed a "reliable" car to get her around town so she help me buy a new car: 2007 Toyota Yaris. Now cars are PLASTIC. Yaris's back bumper have a 2 mile impact, my 76 Toyota Corolla which can take 5 MPH impact on its metal bumper. The 2007 Toyota Yaris has no bumper or side guards so it gets scratch and "ding" easily in parking lots. This past Summer, my Yaris had an accident. It got side swipe by a car in the next lane whose driver decided the LAST MINUTE to jerk over into my lane. There was no enough lane space for 2 cars to occupy ONE lane so I was force to swirl into the freeway road guard. The whole passenger side was damaged. I took my car to Espana's Collision Repair. I was so upset. I told him everything that happened. The owner Mr. Espana was so kind. He had a calmness about him. He assured me that "it's only a car and it can be fixed. From what he sees of the damage, he said it's nothing compared to the other cars that come into his shop.....and that the only thing that matters was that I was O.K. He made me felt better. His staff was so supportive and kept up on the progress of the repairs. All of the 2007 - 2010 Toyota YARIS has come flaws with it's body design. The back bumper is scratch up due to backing up into the overgrown bushes at some shopping malls. There is NO bumper guards. The bumper sides gets scratch from flying debri from normal driving on the freeway. The foot base boards has no protective guards so it is scratch up due to the foot rest of my Mother's wheelchair.. The front panel dash is made out of some sort of very dull cheap looking textured matt cardboard-like material which attract lint and dust like crazy!!! Even if you wipe it clean, it just moves the dust and link around. Using cleaning solutions on this material just made it worst. While the car was in his shop, I didn't have a replacement vehicle. My insurance did not cover rental car loaner. Mr. Espana's had contact with the local Enterprise Rental Agency near by. He contacted them and the rep drove over to pick me up and drove me over to the Rental Agency. They gave me a special rate. I was really satisfied with all this attention. Espana's Collision Repair not only did a GREAT WONDERFUL repair job all the damages to my car from the accident, he also: 1. Put A BIG WIDE RUBBER WRAP ( WITH A CHROME TRIM) ROUND ON THE BACK END FROM THE BACK TIRE ON THE PASSENGER SIDE TO THE DRIVER SIDE. It covered up all the scratches and prevented new scratches. (I highly recommend this to all cars). By doing this, it also protect the back bumper from small minor rear end impacts. 2. He put the SAME rubber molding (narrower) as a foot entry guard on the foot board areas on all 4 step in sides of the entry way of the 4 doors so when people climb in and out or if you have someone in a wheelchair, the foot rest doesn't scratch up the paint. That's an ingenious idea. 3. This was not covered by the insurance because it's not related to the accident so it's a separate cost but it was REALLY WORTH IT!!!. THE BEST OF ALL, (I don't know HOW he did it. He said it's his shop's specialty). He put some sort of GLOSS COATING ON MY WHOLE FRONT DASH PANEL.....IT'S SHINING, SLEEK AND NOTHING STICKS TO IT!!!! JUST WIPE CLEAN. IT WAS REALLY AWESOME !!!! THIS IS A DEFINATE MUST FOR ALL TOYOTA 2007 - 2010 YARIS OWNERS!!! 4. Espana's also offers detailing. He put a GREAT GLOSS COAT on my whole entire car exterior. NOTHING STICKS TO IT...not dust, not bird crap, no tree sap! Price: Very reasonable. It's worth every penny. My insurance co. gave me a list of 3 auto repair shops. I checked them all out. Somehow something inside me tells me that Espana's was the right place. I am VERY HAPPY that I choose Espana's Collision Repairs. He was easy to talk with. He was ALSO VERY HONEST. I asked him if he repair and put a protective guard on the front area where my car got scratch going over a parking lot cement guard. He said he can but no recommended. It would be a waste of my money. it will not hold because the scratches are on a curve.........he'll take the scratches out but NEXT TIME don't roll too close to the parking cement ground stopper!!! Espana's not only repair all the damages, fixed all the scratches, he also put protective guards to prevent future scratches. WHOLE FRONT DASH/PANEL LOOK AMAZING. NO MORE DULL MATT CHEAP LOOKING CARDBOARD DUST ATTRACTING crap. It's 6 1/2 months since repairs, car STILL look amazing! read more

I was in a panic and didn't think I could get my car repaired in time. My insurance company had reccommeded Espana, so my hopes were not high when I arrived there. The facitlities were very clean, new, and modern, and Miguel Espana was very helpful in getting my car in to start repairs and even drove me himself to the Car rental place so I would get there in time before they closed. He kept me updated, worked quickly with my insurance company, and fixed my car with a day to spare. The work was very professional, and they even had my car washed when I came to pick it up! Espana's did a great job detailing and repairing my husband's BMW. They fixed the window that wasn't working as well as replacing a broken visor. The car looked brand new when we picked it up. I have had two vehicles repaired at ECR. Each time I have had nothing but professionalism and great work. Miguel and Jr are the best at what they do. They are knowledgeable and work directly with my insurance and the adjuster. The repair guys are very friendly and really do awesome work. The last time I was there was Nov of 2010. Jr was able to find issues that the insurance adjuster had missed and got those issues worked out. I did not have to call the adjuster myself which was a great time saver for me. Scenario: My used car that I bought less than 1 month ago, got rear-ended at a red light and 100% fault was placed on the other driver and his insurance (Ameriprise) was going to cover all repair/expenses. I called Carstar to set up inspection and repair; Anita was beyond helpful. She initially told me over the phone that I'd come in to have the car inspected and then I'd leave it for repair on an agreed date. I understood, and I arrived that afternoon for the inspection. Then she told me to save the trouble, they'd take my car right away. Awesome. She also called Ameriprise to set up my rental car and stayed behind near closing time just to make sure I had a rental set up. She even drove me over to Enterprise to pick up my rental. Even more awesome! I was kept up to date on progress and had my car back in about 2 weeks. The actual repair cost was about twice the original estimate. Carstar will settle everything else with Ameriprise, including my rental, which I am totally grateful for because I don't have to deal with it. They even drove the rental BACK to Enterprise for me! I wish I didn't get into the accident in the first place, but I'm glad Carstar made it a fairly painless experience to get my car back, looking even better than when I purchased it. My car was broken into last month. The car window glass was shattered into pieces and my possessions stolen. In addition to the broken glass, the window itself was also damaged. The rain was in the forecast. I don't have a spare car, and I don't have rental on my insurance. I walked into ECR, still shaken. The manager (everyone calls him Junior) understood not only my car, the insurance procedure, but also how I felt and what help I needed. He was very patient with me and put me through with the insurance company so that I know for certain about the procedure, he explained to me the mechanics about the window and what it takes to have it checked out. He made suggestions on what I can do in the meantime on means of transport. He gave me the best and worst scenarios and promised to do his best. He did not over-promise just to get my business. He sincerely cared about getting the car fixed so that the customers can walk out of there satisfied. He called me when he said he'd give me the update and arranged ride back for me to get back to work. They worked with me on the repair schedule so that I would have the car when I really needed. I'm happy that my car is fixed. I'm happy about how I was treated at this place. I'm happy that I walked in ECR for the repair. read more

Carstar Espana's San Jose has the WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE and WORST QUALITY in auto body repairs. The workers there cannot make any decisions without the owner's approval, yet the owner (Miguel) refuses to take any customer calls and e-mails after multiple attempts to make any decisions, and the receptionist (Adrianna) is rude and provides horrible customer service (she claimed to be the office manager when she is not). In addition, Carstar Espana's San Jose also purchases poor quality car parts, as I have had multiple issues with all their repairs and replaced parts made on my car (front headlamp, bumper, fog lamp, fender, and window washer fluid container replacement with paint job). The front headlamp is poor quality that has a shadow when the light is on at night, the bumper was poorly painted with thin paint (white) that easily scrapes off and they spray painted over a part of my fog lamp assembly (black), the fog lamp is defective as it has condensation in cold weather so the light won't shine as well, the fender liner around the wheel was a cheap thin material so it makes a loud flapping sound when driving the car on the freeway, and the window washer fluid container they replaced affected my window washer spray where barely any window washer fluid squirts on the window to wash it now, which can be dangerous when it is needed while driving. With all this said, every single aspect of the car repair and the third-party parts are of terrible quality along with their terrible customer service, so I highly DO NOT RECOMMEND anyone doing business with Carstar Espana's San Jose. read more

Where to start? Let's start with the basics. There is simply a lack of communication among this team and pure carelessness. Don't send them an email, they won't check it. I dropped off my car after it had been in an accident and was told it would take 10 days to complete. When they called to say my car was ready, it wasn't! They completely forgot to repair the window and claimed they hadn't "seen it". (Even though it was written on my insurance's damage estimate.) What else? They did a poor job repainting the bumper, and around the emblem of my car. There were visible black spots from the bumper, apparently this is the "high-quality" work they are delivering to their customers. My car also needed window tinting, which they ALSO did a poor job on and left dirt/bubbles. Overall, when they delivered the car it was 3 weeks late. Yet they felt as if they were doing me a "favor" by fixing all these errors they didn't catch the first time. Disappointed that they are the "trusted" body shop for a dealership. CARSTAR has perhaps the best team work that I have ever seen in an autobody shop. In the past I used OTHER autobody shops and never had a good feeling with those when I got my car back with kind of 70-80% job done at the price initially quoted. Besides, they were all out of pocket expenses, and really used to pinch me paying big bucks for less appealing work. This time, I had a corner dent on my Honda front bumper with lot of scratches around with loss of paint. The headlights were kind of foggy with out-gassing. Inside the seats and floor mats were highly stained and dirty. Definitely the car needed lot of attention to get back to a decent shape. I drove into CARSTAR with mixed feelings and only wanted to check them out without reading their past reviews on Yelp or anywhere. It was Junior who immediately engaged me and gave a detail account of what can be done. The way Junior explained the details to me totally convinced me on their immense knowledge, experience and trustworthiness. Junior spent extra time giving me the complete breakup with impressive discounts, that really appealed to me as I was paying out of my pocket. Miguel was another manager who spent good time in explaining what can be done and cannot be done, without giving too much expectation. As promised, I got my car back in time. I could not believe how GREAT the car looked like. It looked unbelievably brand new both inside out. Headlights looked like replaced new. No kidding... The car was spotless like coming out new from a car-dealer. I must say, it was like 150% job done, as they covered even some of the things that I did not even insist, but only requested them to do their best. My Nissan Pathfinder was in an accident and we were sent here by Ameriprise Insurance as they have a contract with them, which allows one to save $100 off their deductible if you choose a collision repair center from their list of choices. I chose Espanas due to it being the shortest drive and didn't do much research as my vehicle only had slight scratches. Regardless, they repaired it within a two days and even washed/vacuumed the car. I would recommend them. read more

I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS REPAIR SHOP TO ANYONE!! I got rear-ended in my honda civic (september 2010) and took it in to this shop for an estimate. Junior made a huge deal about my safety so I left my car there on friday morning knowing they were going to charge my insurance for the whole weekend while they did nothing. They didn't get the estimate done until THURSDAY!! They estimated the value of my 2005 Dx Honda civic with 90,000 miles on it at a little over $12,000. They cited the power windows, moon roof, power locks, CD-player, anti-lock brakes.... I don't have ANY of that! It's a Dx!! The kelly blue book value of my car is only $5,000. Why would they do this you may ask? They estimated the damage to the car to be $9,500. In the state of california, your car isn't totaled unless the damage exceeds 80% of the total worth of the car. If you do the math, $9,500 is JUST under that 80%. They would be getting almost 10 grand to fix my car while only putting in 3 grand worth of repairs! My insurance then told me they would pay to fix it... but Junior had told me the frame was all bent (the reason why I left my car there on a friday) and unsafe to drive. When I questioned him about this, I found that they simply stretched it back out so it would look ok. That is NOT safe. I told my insurance I did not want to fix it, I even told them about the fraudulent estimates too but it was cheaper for them to pay out the "value" of the damage than the "value" of the whole car. I told Junior I was going to scrap the car and wanted it back. He then slapped me with all the costs you can imagine: storage fees, tear-down for the estimate, and even putting it all back together. I couldn't believe it! They blatantly lied on both the estimates (admitted by Junior himself), then charged me for everything they could since they weren't getting money for fixing the car. The sad part is this was my 3rd time going to them. The first time, I would have given them 5 stars, the second time I would have given them 3 stars for being too pricey (even though my insurance took care of it and I wasn't paying a dime). This last time, I got stuck with an unsafe car, and over $1000 in fees from the shop alone. AND THE ACCIDENT WASN'T EVEN MY FAULT!! All because they fudged the numbers.
