Good stuff. Crawfish 3/5. Shrimp 4/5. Corn 5/5 Sausage 5/5 Hush puppies 4/5 Raw oysters 5/5 Several flavors of seasoning are available and four levels of spicyness (none, mild, medium, hot). I chose Cajun flavor and hot, which may suit folks from here, but having grown up on Louisiana crawfish, it was what I would consider mild. It was still quite flavorful and good. Flavor is a 4/5 because the seafood isn't boiled in the seasoning. Crawfish and shrimp seemed as if they're boiled in salt water and utterly bland before seasoning. Then it's added to a bag filled with the requested level of seasoning and oil/butter. It's good, but I prefer when the seafood is boiled in the actual seasoning/water combo... Then you can suck the heads and the heat is in the meat itself and you don't need oil/butter because it stands on it's own. That model (boiling in the hot stuff) works in Louisiana where you get one flavor (Cajun) and order mild or hot in most places. With them offering 16 possible flavor/spice combos, I get why they do it how they do it. It's easier to please everyone. My crawfish and shrimp were mildly overcooked, but I can look past it because they're just opening and likely finding their rhythm. The place was packed. That being said, I peeled my crawfish and shrimp then dredged it through the good stuff in the bottom of the bag and it significantly improved my satisfaction with the grub. No point in sucking the heads because of how the crawfish are initially boiled. Raw Gulf oysters were excellent, although very odd to me that it was served on the half shell with lemon and hot sauce. No cocktail sauce, no crackers and no horseradish... If you like your oysters straight up, then you'll love these plump slugs from the Gulf. read more

I really happy that I've found a good Cajun seafood place in Cary Crab House. The food is great for the cost. The snow crab legs were delicious but I wished their hot spicy level was spicier. The fried catfish was delicious. The fish was tender and juicy and the batter was perfectly crispy. The fried oysters were actually just bad, no one should order the fried oysters. Our fried oysters were tiny in size and more than 50% just fried batter. My suggestion to the owner is to use bigger oysters and increase the price or just remove the fried oysters from the menu altogether. The Cajun fries were amazing. I wish the sausage wasn't a side order and just included standard in the boiled combos. I also which there were fried combos on the menu. Overall Cary Crab House had great food (with exception to the fried oysters) and I would definitely come here again. read more

So this was a very unique experience, probably the first one I've had in a long while at a crab house. They give you bibs and a bucket full of everything you might need to eat your crab/seafood. Definitely get the garlicy buttery sauce - it adds to the flavor. Spicy is actually kind of spicy. Overall a decent place to check out even for just the experience. Also, the vibe is pretty casual and people have written notes all around so be prepared to leave a cute message if you want to. It's a pretty popular place seeing that it just opened. read more

1/30/19 UPDATE: Thank you for replying to my review. I appreciate the reminder to come back and update. YES! The food was DELICIOUS! It is worth A wait, but definitely not an hour and a half! Very flavorful and still relatively warm but the time I got home (Durham). It would have been nice to enjoy at the restaurant though. While I'm just one customer making a review, it's sad how many customers (GROUPS) I watched leave empty handed and/or recommending going to the (smaller) Raleigh location because of your extremely long wait. You definitely lost business and profit that night, which is sad because the food is good. Please review your operations for high volume times/nights to reduce wait times. 45 minutes is an ideal MAX wait. If this is unavoidable then offer concession for customers who have to wait more than 45 min (e.g. free drink, free side, 10% off meal, or 10% of next visit... something!). Having a waitlist option and app is simply not enough. 1/26/19: Haven't even eaten yet! Was told an hour and a half wait! After 30 minutes of waiting, I caved and ordered my food to go. Will update my review after I get my food. But 1 hr 30 min wait is way too long especially when there were open tables. Would have been nice to know that I could join the wait list from Yelp but you live and you learn. read more

My absolute favorite! Randomly placed in Cary a gem. The wait can seem ridiculous at times but if you can time it eighth before the dinner rush 6:30pm you will really enjoy your experience! I was never a huge fan of crab legs but these are perfect! I generally get the crab legs, corn and potatoes! There's a combo option to also get shrimp but believe me it's a lot of food. The shrimp are large and it's about a 1LB which equate to well over 12+ Shrimp. You may not need both! It can get a little messy but worth every slurp! read more

*Sigh* I wanted to love the food here, but sadly I don't. I'll start with the GOOD first: The service was fast & the wait time of 25min was not bad at all, especially for a Saturday evening. We tipped our waiter very well because of how attentive he was. Now on to the NEGATIVES: I ordered the Shrimp/Crawfish combo meal and my crawfish was not only RUBBERY and OVERCOOKED, but it lacked flavor. The butter they give you for dipping your seafood in tastes like the 'movie theater butter' used on popcorn. Yuck! My boyfriend ordered the crab legs (overpriced at $19.99 per pound) and his potato's were not cooked all the way through. I just moved here from Texas and we ate seafood every single weekend there. Cary Crab House is NOT terrible. The atmosphere was great upon first entering. The staff, although we didn't get a "great customer service greeting" was passable and we sat down at the table ready to enjoy the quality food a friend of ours suggested. I'm not a huge fan of broils so I decided to get the fried Cajun wings, after debating between them and the buffalo wings. They came to the table and we're visibly hot and utterly delicious which is awesome. Upon biting into them, I realized that looks could be deceiving. The wings were crunchy, yet flavorless. The inside was glossy which made me question if they were completely done. I took three bites and I asked if I could switch out my Cajun wings for the buffalo wings and attempted to express my displeasure with the server, who immediately told me that the question should be for the manager instead. After inquiring to the manager, I was told that I would have to pay half for the Cajun wings, and full price for the new entree. While I understood that I had asked for one item and did not enjoy, I thought it ridiculous that I had to pay half for wings that had not pleased the customer. The initial lack of customer service was evident even more, and I reluctantly agreed. Again, while I do not think the food was horrendous, I feel as though the lack of true resolution and understanding was enough for me to produce a lackluster review. As a "Customer service Connoisseur" I am THRILLED when I have amazing customer service and thoroughly tip to ensure they understand my appreciation. This was NOT one of those cases. And, to top the cake, I was automatically charged gratuity for 5 people and a child (who ate off of my wife's plate). The place is a real hole in the wall and, as long as they expect you to eat with gloves, they should have small medium or large gloves because theirs were very large and didn't work very well for smaller hands. Went in with my parents around 5pm and was seated promptly. I ordered the shrimp with no heads and crab legs, garlic butter, non spicy. My mother ordered shrimp with no heads and crab legs, Cajun, non-spicy. My dad ordered calamari, fried shrimp and Cajun fries. All of the food was delicious as we all shared. Loved having the bibs because there's no way to be cute and eat crab legs. Service checked on us multiple times and there was probably only a 15 minute wait on our food which isn't bad. "The Big Bang" flavor was pretty good on the snow crab legs, hard to mess up those. Poor selection of wine and imported beers. No bartender, so if you decide to not wait to be seated...you'll have to wait to be seated at the bar as well even if there's plenty of seats at the bar! Service was pleasant but not the best at efficiency. I really don't go to restaurants to have in depth conversations with the servers while they are waiting on me. This was my second time coming here and I like this one better than the Raleigh location. We did have about a twenty minute wait on a Friday night but it didn't matter bc we were waiting for the rest of our party to arrive. Both times being here I have really enjoyed the food. It's hot and fresh. Doesn't seem like they rush it out to you. The last time we dined here the waitress was not the best, but this time our waiter was very patient and was a joy to have. He had a great sense of humor and didn't mind serving us. The prices are about the same as any seafood restaurant I've been to but I can honestly say you do get good portions of food. The only downside is their seafood combos do not come with sausages like I've seen other places do. But I do not eat the sausages anyway but my husband does, so each time you have to pay for that separate. I always like to get the Big Bang which is all the sauces mixed together and either hot or mild. But overall the food is good and prices are average. So good. It is a bit hard to find. It is in Cary Crossroads to the left of Men's Warehouse. So many options for crabs. I got the 1 pound snow crab all the way in medium spice. I got it to go. It was still hot when I got home. Lots of spices to dip it in once you shell the crab. Big chunks of garlic in the sauce. Yum. Only criticism is the corn was way over cooked. Will be back!! Mixed experience. My food was very good, but the management was not. Overheard a conversation between a server and another table. Server was obviously shaken up, saying that one of her other tables had left without paying their bill, and that she was now going to be asked to pay for it by her managers. Tabs here can be pretty pricey, too. It is really in poor taste for a restaurant to require their servers to pay for walk outs! Most restaurants only pay their servers 2.13 an hour, given that most of what a server makes comes from their tips. I think that the business, which forks over only 2.13 for their employees, can suffer these losses. Of course, if it is proven that negligence happened on the server's part, or that the server was in some way colluding with the dashers, that would be a different story. Though, I don't believe that was the case here. Don't think that I will be returning. I cannot support a business that treats its employees this way. Very shady business. read more

We ordered take out last night and with take out usually restaurants come down a peg and aren't as good as when you eat in. The food came very hot and everything we ordered was top notch delicious. We had the cat fish basket and shrimp with potatoes and corn.We actually ordered too much food and are having leftovers tonight. Because of the service fees and delivery fees it can get kind of expensive so when you can get two meals out of it it cuts the cost in half. Its still the Grand Opening of the restaurant, so now is a perfect time to go. If you've never had a seafood boil, you get a chance to eat somewhat like a barbarian. All hands on deck, definitely going to get a little messy because of the sauce in the plastic bag that the seafood comes in. Each piece of seafood was lathered with the combination of all seasoning with a Medium Hot spice. My bag was the crawfish and shrimp combo, combo C with 1/2lb of crab legs, also with corn, sausage, and small potatoes. It was amazing! Each bite never lacked in flavor or spice. Its all freshly cooked. There is a little bit of a wait when putting in your order, but trust me its worth it. I will absolutely be back for another round. Oh my CRABBB!! Seafood lovers rejoice. Saw this place on Yelp while in town and felt the need to try it. This location is in the crossroads plaza next to men's warehouse. The sign says Cary Crab House but inside everything says Juicy Crab House. I was seated right away. The menu isn't large, but it has the essentials for a seafood boil. I ordered medium spicy Cajun snow crab legs with corn. It came with 2 bundles of crab legs and one piece of corn. They set a bucket on your table with a bib, plate, plastic ware, and a moist towelette. It was so delicious! I wanted to order more when I finished (which I did finish the WHOLE bag!) My sister ordered the calamari and fries appetizer basket, which was yummy as well - the fries were even good cold 2 hours later. My sister's water cup had a fruit fly inside of it and when we told the waiter he didn't really care, so our service was a little funky but everyone else seemed very nice.
