My favorite Mexican in Spokane. You have to go to the division location as the others are not the same. The carne asada burrito is my absolute favorite! The steak tastes like it's been barbecued and is very tender! My boyfriend always gets something different and he's always happy with whatever he orders. We always sit in the bar and the service is always spot on!! I usually get a Long Island and they make it strong and good. Also not to mention that my boyfriend and I are vegetarians and usually places don't have many options for us. This place had a vegetarian section! My partner and I come here often so we usually know what to expect. Tonight we were stumped. We came an hour and a half before closing so we didn't think anything of it. We got sat and was served chips and salsa and water quick so it was nice. The chips were stale and the beans tasted old. Right as we started to order our foood, we were told that they were out of rice for the night which was disappointing considering one of our meals that we come here for is on a bed of rice. So we just figured that was something they should have told us upon seating us. So we had to make a quick decisions. Instead of rice, they offered us fries or side salad so we each got a side salad along with our beans and meal. We get our food and both side salads are on ONE plate. A HOT PLATE i might add and both orders of beans on the other. The beans were stale as well. Half way through the meal, i take a bite of my salad and it's warm. I just don't understand why the salad didn't come on a side plate like the 3 others that were brought to a table right by us.. My partners enchiladas that we had to quickly order because they didn't have rice were very dry and not appetizing to even look at. We're hoping to get a discount since we weren't able to get the "whole" meal and was charged full price. I've never felt compelled to leave my full plate and walk out before. This place has a great atmosphere, and an amazing bar. We came here a couple times before, and had pretty decent food. We ordered a couple of different combination plates. And they tasted fine. We came here on New Year's eve to eat with our family, and ordered the heat is. We ordered steak fajitas, chicken fajitas, and shrimp fajitas. The shrimp fajitas were tasty, but the chicken fajitas were disgusting. They tasted like they were marinated in pure sugar. The steak the heat is we're not much better. They were sweet and if I hadn't tasted the chicken fajitas I would've thought they were disgusting too. But the chicken fajitas were so gross that that made the steak but he does taste tolerable. This is a good place to go for basic combinations. But do not order the fajitas!!! read more

I got chicken fajitas and they were pretty close to one of my favorite places (not in Spokane.) my sons loved what they got and my husband was happy with his dish. For starters they sat us down at a seat that was dirty so we asked to move to the next one. We were sitting near the entrance to the kitchen where there was a sound much like the beeping of a door to the 7-11. It went off about every five seconds for the entire time we sat there with little interruption, this in and of itself would have been enough to ruin the lunch, but the trashy hip hop didn't help either. The food itself was also marginal. I'm not a good cook by even my own standards but I could have threw together a better meal myself and paid less for it. Do not bother going here. read more

I went there for CInco De Mayo lunch. Worst experience ever! We walked in, the server was terrible from the get go. We asked for the drink or beer specials, and she said "I don't know, our owner doesn't tell us til way late," then walks away. It's lunch, but they are only giving out dinner menus. No food specials either. The food was awful and overpriced for what we got. I got a taco salad with practically no meat. My guac was also bad. My friends didn't fare much better. Some chipotle chicken dish that tasted like it was made with mayo and liquid smoke. Not to mention it came out w/o tortillas "because there's a line for them" our waitress says. My boyfriend had a taco combo plate, with hardly any meat in it. It took our server 10 minutes to bring out some hot sauce. The place was not that busy. Part way through our meal, the waitress came over to inform us that we had to move our car now because they were just now closing the parking lot for the band later, "but you can park up the street and come back. We have a $6 cover." There was no signage saying not to park there. Wouldn't you think you would just not let new cars in, and wait for the remaining customers to leave? When we left, there was now a fence around the parking lot, and an irritated employee waiting at the gate to let us out. I am a former server from a Mexican restaurant, I can understand how hectic things can be, but come on! It's Cinco De Mayo and you are a Mexican restaurant! This is often the busiest day of the year. You prepare for this day. You set up decorations in advance, you have specials from the get go. You definitely don't pass your stress onto your customers! You close off your parking lot before you open for the day to set up. I have been there for Cinco a few times before. I always had a good time. This was BEYOND DISAPPOINTING! read more

Haven't been there in about 4 years. Always loved the food and staff, until now. The Manager/bartender is AWFUL! On top of a horrible attitude her customer service is horrendous! Tried to dine in the bar area where she continually was talking to another patron loudly swearing. Used the "F" word 3 times, along with some other choice words. Continually also talked about porn with the gentleman loudly at the end of the bar. This place needs a bar/restaurant rescue like no other. UNREAL! We were going to eat as well as have a few drinks, but we stood up, paid our bill and left. The prices are way to high. 18.00+ for most dishes. I will NEVER go back. I am from out of town, I love Mexican food so I ventured out and found, Casa DE Oro 4111 N Division St, Spokane, WA 99207. I ordered the Beef fajitas. When I told the waiter that the beef tasted spoiled, his reply was "it was the marinade that they use" I did not finish the meal because, it just didn't taste right. When I left there was no apology from anyone and I paid full price. Today I am paying again by several trips to the rest room. If anyone knows how to contact the health department please do so. We lived in Spokane for about 10 years, and have been to this restaurant about 12 to 15 times. We always dine in the lounge because it's adults only and better atmosphere. The food here is okay, but we would choose this place because of the central location to meet with friends. We stopped going here because on our last two visits during the day, we were waited on by a dark haired female bartender who had the personality of a bucket of ice. After spending over forty years of dealing with the public from all walks of life. After a long absence from coming to this restaurant (I was scarred by the absolutely disgusting, tepidly warm, Ranch-dressing covered taco salad I had there when I was a kid), my mom and I were beckoned in by the illuminated "happy hour" sign only to discover this place is even more gross than I remember. Invisible in the purposefully dimmed restaurant, my cellphone's flashlight confirmed that something was "off" after our first bite into the stale chips and cold bean dip---- the carpets, walls, even ceiling of the place is almost evenly coated in a slick-looking brown/orange scum. Grossed out from ordering any food (the plates going past our table were uniformly flat and brown), we finished our margaritas (which seriously tasted like they'd been made from Mountain Dew) only to then have the manager literally yell at us that drinks served in the restaurant are not part of happy hour. I pressed as to why we hadn't been told this initially, to which the manager responded that "the waitress wants to make money too", that we "shouldn't have sat in the restaurant" if we were not going to order food, and that we also "should not have been given any salsa and chips." Incensed, we told her that we would not be coming back, to which she responded to my mom that "a woman her age" should know that happy hour is not in the restaurant. If you're looking for a nice dinner, try Thai Bamboo just up the road---- not only is the service, food excellent, their margaritas are incomparably better. If you're looking for Mexican food, Senor Froggy's is far better than this place---- it's infinitely cleaner, has way better salsa, and with the much higher turn over of ingredients, you can be sure that what you're eating hasn't been sitting for hours going cold/rancid as it looked at Casa de Oro. If they cook their food like they clean their restaurant, watch out.....totally gross, avoid this place! read more

Just moved here from colorado spings and this is the first mexician food we have tryed out here. The salsa must have changed because it tasted fantastic and there were chunks of fresh tomatoes. The food was obvously not authintic but who would expect authintic mexician food in a resturant like this anyway? My wife and I both ordered the casa de oro burrito with shreded beef. I have learned that if a place has a dish named after them then its probably going to be really good. It was. Best burrito. The meat was really jucy and full of flavor. Genorous amounts of sour creme and guac. I was also really impressed with the service. They all semed to work together as a team and we were verry well taken care of, I really liked the fact that the wait staff did not try to entertain us or be a part of our evening and My drink was never empty. at the end of our meal we each received a sopapia chip with strawberry sauce and whiped cream.
