OMG. I love this place. I discovered this place about 2 years ago when a friend took me there. Now its a great place to meet our friends and have a good meal at a reasonable price. This place has been around for years and it shows. It's a "hole in a wall" type place so don't judge it by its looks. The staff is great, friendly and fast. The food is probably one of the best in town. Everything is fresh, the salsa and guac are above average. The entrees are tasty. Its very hard not to overeat...if you're dieting, stay away. Your calorie intake goes up 500 before you step in the door. Haha. Affordable for everyone, good food and service, just a good place everyone should visit it at least once a week. read more

I came in, and asked if they served chilaquilles. He said they do not. my server was kind enough to ask the cook if he would specially make that for me and he did. My friends and I have been coming here for years and we love it. Seems like we all have our favorite dish and rarely do we sway. For my partner and I it's the three chicken enchilada plate for now. One of my "go to places" for Mexican food. This is about as close as anybody will get to grandmas rice and beans, and yes they cook with lard so the taste is really authentic. Great food here, Very authentic Mexican. The outside looks of the restaurant are deceiving. This was our first time here and we walked in and we're greeted at the door and sat at a comfortable booth. The waitress brought out some fresh chips and two different kinds of salsa. I ordered the number 11. It's a beef taco and a cheese enchilada that comes with beans and rice. Everything tasted very fresh and was super good. My boyfriend got the carne asada burrito and loved his also. This is the best Mexican food in Fresno! read more

We have been coming here for 30 + years. Another reviewer mentioned that you judge the place by their salsa, I agree. I always ask for a second bowl of the hot stuff. I won't say that this is authentic Mexican food, but it is close. I grew up in Selma, the original location of Sal's restaurant. Even Sal's has changed over the years since "grandma" isn't doing the cooking with her cast iron skillet. Yeah, the chips are sometimes a little greasy, but that's what make them taste good (lard). The San Francisco folks should go back and continue to eat theirs out of a bag. Not everyone can be completely satisfied with a restaurant's taste. Super delicious food: best chichen taco I've ever had with the most perfectly delicate yet crispy shell, scrumptious cheese enchilada, delectable chile rellano with the best sauce ever... chips are homemade and not too thick or hard, good salsa, yummy beans. I have picked up food to go there occasionally and it's been decent. I usually order one of their burritos. Yesterday, I was craving a carne asada taco and did not want to drive far, so I headed over to Casa Quintero to order a taco to go. When I arrived home, I decided to eat my carne asada taco that was packaged in a styrophome container. It had small pieces of beef with lettuce, tomatoes, and some guacamole. It was served on 2 soft corn tortillas. Included was a small container of salsa that had a slight kick to it. It all tasted good until after a couple of bites I discovered a hair in the container underneath the taco. Not one hair, but two. Yuck, how gross. That ruined it all. I most likely will not return to this establishment, which is a shame because the food has been pretty good. read more

Casa Quintero is easily my favorite Mexican restaurant! Everything I've ever eaten here was delicious, and the prices are good. The waitress, (who serves every table by herself) always greets us in a friendly manner and remembers what we like to order. She is pretty much a super woman. Lots of the best meals are buy one get one half price on Tuesdays! Another plus is that they have Mr. Pibb, which we don't see in many restaurants. This place is definitely a hidden gem. We ate at Casa Quintero while in Fresno for our one night. To us it was really good. The restaurant is in a little strip mall but it reminded me of a what I would call a hidden gem, back street restaurant. The place had a lot of booths, a centrally located TV and I could tell we were the only non-locals there - a good sign. We were given chips and salsa right when we sat down (chips were warm) along with our drink order being taken. Good variety of items on the menu. I had Grandes #10 and I am betting any of them would have been just as good. We also had the Concha Suprema and it was just great. Was referred to my friends on Facebook as we were looking for an authentic Mexican restaurant in our area. Loved it so much my husband went back the next day for take out. BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE EXPIERIENCE. First time eating at a Mexican restaurant since moving down to fresno (since I'm Mexican I usually have high expectations and don't want to be disappointed) I'm vegan so there are some foods I choose not to eat and also have allergies to others so for that reason I ate something before leaving knowing my sister in law most likely would want some food while we were out. We were welcomed at the door and seated we got our drink orders, menus and chips and salsa (pretty good salsa) as I was overlooking the menu I noticed no options for me which I didn't mind I could always just eat chips and salsa and order sides. My sister in law asks if I could eat something here and I said well I'll have to ask if there is any lard in the beans or chicken broth in the rice but I hate to be a bother so I just decided to eat chips and salsa. My sister in law said no that she would ask for me. So the waitress came to take our order and my sister in law asked and the lady was so rude instead of just saying yes it does have this or that she was like yeah of course this is how Mexicans cook you will never be able to eat at any Mexican restaurant. I eat Mexican all the time either homemade, mom made or eating out with no problem. Very disappointed w/this place as the previous reviews seems to make this place worth it. Our favorite place in town! They have very authentic and tasty dishes. Love the enchiladas verdes... NOT like other places (such as el toro) where they put the same brown sauce all over everything.
