The service was bad. After being seated we waiting a long time to be waited on for waters. Server didn't seem to want to be here and was vaguely rude and not attentive. The food was good, not great. This was a short walk from the hotel we stayed at (Royal Lahaina). We were welcomed warmly and seated immediately. They don't have too many options for dinner, but it was okay! We started off with an appetizer of ahi poke nachos. It tasted amazing, definitely something to order again. We ordered fish and chips, and also a loco moco. Fish and chips tasted great. The mahi mahi was super good and it was fried perfectly! I didn't love the loco moco too much. I thought the gravy was really thick, and was also a bit salty. We waited a while (~25min) to be seated for brunch even though there were lots of open tables, and when we sat, there were no utensils. The place didn't seem that busy so it seems service is just not the most efficient (I suppose we're on island time). The paradise pancakes were a bit disappointing- the description of the dish was much more exciting than the dish itself. The pancakes were very fluffy but plain, and almost a bit tough. But the hauipa syrup it comes with is very good. They were out of most fruits when we arrived so all I got on top were a few pieces of banana and strawberry. The ambiance here was lovely and the staff were incredibly kind. The drinks were great - I had a coconut margarita and my partner got a paradise punch. The paradise punch was a bit more tart than sweet, but we enjoyed it. I got the fish and chips which was good, bur not especially amazing. We absolutely loved our brunch here at Castaway Cafe! We arrived at 9 am and were able to get a nice table with an ocean view. To our side, we could see a group doing yoga in front of the ocean and the overall vibe was very relaxing. We got our food-and the portions were huge. Very tasty. I really enjoyed the pulled pork eggs Benedict, and the banana bread French toast is a must-have. We had to go on an all day flight after this and this was our only meal.
