    Thali
    Bindi S.

Had an average experience here. I got a thali to go which comes with 2 veggies, I chose the paratha, kadhi, rice, raita, 2 desserts and a drink. Well they forgot to give us the drink and one of the desserts. Moreover, we had requested paneer for the veg and we got chhole instead. So we had chhole, dal making and kadhi. No veg. That was disappointing. I'd rather eat in at their full service restaurant and get what I paid for.

Sev puri- came with 7 puri for $8. Really tasty but hard to share. Came with a group of 4 and I unfortunately only got 1 so it wasn't worth it for me. If it came with 8, I would've been fine. With it if you're with less than 4 people Hyderabadi bagara baigan - this had 4 small eggplants and the sauce was delicious. I would get this again. Methi paratha - good but I could skip it. Overnight dal makhni with warqi paratha- this would good but could skip it because it was more like a soup. Garlic naan- got 2 orders and it was well made, crispy and chewy and not too thick packed with garlic. I'd get it again. Chana bhatura- this was tasty and loved the puff bread with it. Wouldn't mind getting this again. No pic of this since this was a later order. We were still hungry. Masala paneer frankie- really tasty wrap. I'd get this again. No pic of this also since this was a later order as well. Overall the Hyderabadi bagara baigan and masala paneer frankie were my favorites.

    Garlic naans- decent

Full chaat bhavan regular menu but in a smaller setting. I enjoy chaat bhavan food and never had issues with their regular restaurant menu. I tried their food at Fremont, Sunnyvale and Mountain View. Catering was a mixed experience though. Coming to this location, I was disappointed for the first time with their food. I got the bhel thali and quality of the curries was subpar. The paneer curry was literally water with a few sorry looking pieces of paneer and peas floating in it. The carrot halwa had enough sweetness to knock a person senseless and had a weird taste. Though the bhel was decent, it had a lot of nylon sev. We also got saag paneer and some naans and they didn't disappoint.

From the outside, this looks like a well run, competent take out place and yes, many people were ordering take out with smiles on their faces, but my boyfriend and I decided to stay and eat in before heading back to SF. The presentation? Superb. The ambiance? Warm. Clean. The service (run by one impeccable professional) was excellent. The food? To the heavens! We were working with a dietary restriction here of no grains and to our delight, there were so many options even with a vegetarian menu. Everything we had was fresh, flavorful, the right amount of spice. We had a feast but didn't leave feeling groggy or weighed down. The saddest part? We couldn't fit in dessert but we did leave with some more takeout for our meals tomorrow. Definitely a place we'll return to.

Good food. Quick service. Ordered chaat items - sev puri, dahi papdi, Chinese bhel, chole bhatura. Most items were good in terms of taste and presentation. My only personal preference would have been to have the sev puri much less sweet for Indian palette. I've always known Chinese bhel to be served a little cool, but this was warm. Tea was ok. Ambiance is also good. Navjot Singh was a good and pleasant host. Thanks.

    Paneer pakora

I ordered samosa,. Paneer pakora, mixed veg manchurian. Not tasty like before paneer pakora is very rough and dry, hard to chew manchurian is very sour (its good and tasty when i ordered a month before ) samosa smells bad overall i disappointed this time mint chutney also sour taste

I'm not too sure what's "Express" about this place... The menu has plenty of items, it looked like a full size menu to us...almost a bit overwhelming if you ask me. Maybe it's the size of the venue? It was on the smaller side, not a whole lot of seating inside. Perhaps this venue is smaller than their other location. There were a lot of orders being picked up. No complaints: Tasty food, good service, clean and bright on the inside. The place was packed with Indian folks, so we knew the food was going to be good. #DesiEats ~ Aloo Methi Thali - 4.5/5 The Thali is a brilliant value. So much food on the plate. The potatoes were perfectly cooked with a ton of flavor without being greasy or soggy. ~ Bombay Pav Bhaji - 4/5 I didn't know there was an Indian dish that was eaten with a Bun. Very interesting... Mixed vegetables in Masala. Nice kick to it, without being overly spicy. ~ Rajouri Garden Chana Bhatura - 4/5 Very tasty Chickpea curry dish with Paratha. Not too spicy either. ~ Paneer Paratha - 4/5 Tasty paratha with a side of Onions, Lime Pickle and some sort of sauce. I need to come back several times to try more dishes on the menu!

I was skeptical when my friend chose a…read morevegetarian place for her birthday dinner, but she said she had been before and the food is really good. I am one of those people who thinks that just about every meal needs animal protein or it won't be satisfying. Well, Happy Flower proved me wrong because I came away with a very happy and full stomach and I did not even miss the meat! We ordered 8 different dishes to share family style, and I was especially pleased with the all seasons sampler and vegan fried rolls appetizers, as well as the pad Thai, salted fish fried rice, hainan chicken rice, tomato fish, and happy clay pot entrees. Each dish was quite large such that all 9 of us were able to try generous portions of each dish. And then we got two servings of the mango sticky rice to share and the mango was amazingly sweet! I did not try their boba drinks, but a few of my friends ordered drinks and enjoyed them. Their boba drinks are sized quite large as well. I will say, the meat doesn't necessarily taste like the meat it purports to imitate, but the textures for the fake chicken and fish are pretty spot on! Service was friendly and helpful and they delivered the dishes at a good pace. The inside isn't fancy, but it's clean and well lit and spacious. I wish I had known about this hidden gem sooner, but they had a good clip of takeout orders and families coming in for dinner. Parking is also plentiful and easy in their large attached lot. I will be back!

Crispy, and there is salt and black pepper in it, but overall it doesn't have much flavor outside of the sauce. Lemongrass fish lunch plate modified to have soy beef (you can switch out the protein): The broccoli itself itself was just steamed with no flavoring, so that was underwhelming. But the lemongrass beef is pretty good, firm and chewy not spicy. One of the others in my party got the eastern duck soup, which has a stronger soup flavor, you can taste the anise. It also has shiitake mushrooms. It came with veggie drumsticks, on an actual stick, but just takes like soy protein, doesn't really taste like duck. I tried a bit of Cali pho too, which was mild but pleasant, it has a ton of vegetables. Overall I'd give it more of a 3.5/5, there were certainly some items that could've used better seasoning/flavoring, but I do appreciate the amount of options that are suitable for vegetarians and actually being able to enjoy noodle soups that would usually have been meat-based. They do have outdoor tables and at the time when I had gone, no one else was sitting outside.

I am not the kind of mom who eats kids leftovers all the time. So I wanted my own dosa. For drinks, I did a medium strong filter coffee ( they make it to your customization and I was surprised to see they even had jaggery). My 9 year old took a mango lassi. Food was incredibly satisfying. Servers are very attentive and they came three times to our table offering more chutney and sambhar. We already had enough but if you like more sambhar and chutney with your food, this is heaven. One server even came with ghee for my little ones for idlis. I was so grateful. He was genuinely sweet to my kid. Felt a connection than just a business! Ambiance is classy and relaxed at the same time. Nobody gave me the side eye when my three year old was a little noisy. Have a corner for takeout containers for leftover food, very generous. I would highly recommend this place for its delicious food, relaxed atmosphere and friendly service. Prices are reasonable. They have happy hour daily from 3-6 pm and when we went at 5.30, the restaurant was more than 70% full on a Thursday. Eat early and save money too. We really had a very good time! Unfortunately, the customer service left a lot to be desired. I arrived shortly after they opened, and there was no greeting or acknowledgment when I walked in, even though the restaurant was empty. When I approached the counter to pick up my order, I gave the name it was under. Instead of confirming the order or asking any questions, the first thing I heard from the cook was, "Get her card first." The cashier then immediately said, "Give me your card." Only after my payment was processed did they hand me my food and say, "Thank you." I completely understand that businesses need to protect themselves and ensure orders are paid for before they're released. That's not the issue. It's the way it was handled. As a customer, it felt like I was being treated as if I might take the food and run, rather than being welcomed into a local, family-owned business. A simple greeting, confirming the order, and then politely requesting payment would have made all the difference. Great customer service and protecting your business can absolutely go hand in hand. The food was outstanding, but the experience made me feel unwelcome. Sadly, because of the customer service, I don't see myself returning.

I came to this restaurant two days in a row because I really enjoyed my first experience…read more Unfortunately, my second visit was noticeably different, and it really highlighted one of the biggest challenges for any restaurant: consistency. First Visit - Nearly 5 Stars On my first visit, I ordered: * Beet Poke * Mushroom Bao * Kale Caesar Salad with Falafel The beet poke was fantastic. It was fresh, light, and packed with seaweed, with a delicious dressing that brought everything together. There were great textures and flavors, and I would have happily ordered it again. The mushroom bao was another standout. The mushroom was perfectly fried, tucked inside a soft, fluffy bao, and topped with a tangy slaw. Great combination of crispy, soft, savory, and acidic. The kale Caesar salad was also delicious. Fresh, flavorful, and satisfying. At this point, I was thinking 5 stars and was excited enough to come back the very next day. Second Visit - A Different Experience I ordered: * Beet Poke * Mushroom Bao * Kale Caesar Salad * Potato Pizza Unfortunately, things were much more inconsistent. The beet poke was probably the biggest disappointment. There was barely any seaweed, very little textural contrast, and the dressing tasted completely different from the day before. It was also barely dressed. If this had been my first experience with the dish, I honestly would not have ordered it again. The mushroom bao was still good, but it didn't taste the same as the previous day. The slaw was noticeably spicy this time, whereas it hadn't been spicy at all on my first visit. It made me wonder if there were different chefs or if the recipes/preparations simply weren't being followed consistently. The kale Caesar was the one dish that remained consistent, still delicious on day two. The potato pizza was underwhelming and definitely something I wouldn't order again. The flavor combo wasn't working with me. We also got the gluten free crust which was not great. Almost more of a cracker than a pizza crust. The Verdict: If I were reviewing this restaurant based only on my first visit, I would have given it 5 stars. The food was fresh, creative, flavorful, and genuinely memorable. But after coming back the very next day and having several dishes taste noticeably different, I had to take a few stars away. I'm not sure if there were different chefs, different prep, or something else going on behind the scenes, but consistency is such a key part of a great restaurant experience, especially when you're paying restaurant prices. When a dish is fantastic one day and just okay the next, it's hard to know what experience you're actually going to get. The ambience is great, and while the service was friendly, it was also a bit slow. Overall, I still see the potential here, and my first visit was genuinely excellent. I just wish the second visit had lived up to it.
