Food is ok, but service isn't that great. They already took a long time to bring out the food, which I was willing to deal with. However they then brought my daughters food out and I had to wait an additional 20 minutes for my food to while my daughter ate hers because it would've gotten cold if she waited. Then the lady at the front register told me the reason my food wasn't out and I needed to wait because they are busy with the to go orders. As if I'm not a customer waiting as well. I deserve to have my food in timely manner as well. If you like waiting over an hour and poor service this is the place for you. I recommend looking for a better a Thai restaurant that prioritizes all of their visitors whether they are take out or eating in. Or avoid ordering a complicated dish such as pad Thai. read more

I used to come to this restaurant couple time when it was different name. Came here with friends for dinner and it was good. The service was good and the staffs were very friendly. I had sautéed eggplant with tofu it was delicious but my black mussels Hoi-Obb were OK. My hubby had papaya salad and sticky rice, it was decent. I hate to leave bad reviews but this dinner messed me up on my business trip the next day. Had the pad thai, papaya salad and mango sticky rice for dinner. Had the shits all morning till afternoon and a stomach ache the whole next 24 hours. I dont have a weak stomach and im asian, so thai food isnt foreign to me. We've been for dinner once and today we had lunch. Very average Thai. They gave us a lunch menu and we ordered Panang curry & potstickers. The server asked if we wanted the lunch or dinner portion. We replied with,"lunch special, please." On the lunch menu it says $4.95 for potstickers. Then when the bill came they charged us for dinner pricing. When I said that's very misleading and the server raised her voice with me and was very rude. Won't be going back there anymore. Great local spot. Khao soi was delicious, definitely on the richer side. Pad thai was great, not too sweet and the sauce wasn't too heavy which is my usual gripe with pad thai. Papaya salad with crab was probably the star! Super authentic and very similiar to Glai Baan's papaya salad (but cheaper here...). Sticky rice dessert was good, but portion was smaller than expected for the cost. But I appreciate that the mango is only served seasonally because it was actually ripe. Spice level is accurate, I got everything hot and it was great since I love spicy food. If I had to be picky, they left out the crispy noodles and other garnishes for my khao soi but I will probably dine in in the future. Wonderful northern thai food overall. read more

We love this place! The owner is very nice and always acknowledges us. We have tried so many items off the menu and nothing has ever disappointed. Our favorites are the papaya salad, Thai beef jerky, Thai fried rice, pad Thai, fried veggie rolls, and the hot and sour soup. The spice is also amazing! Walked in on a Saturday night around 7 and got seated promptly. I ordered Pad See Ew and a friend had Pad Thai. Our server was very nice and came to get our orders within 5 minutes. My Pad See Ew came out in about 15 min while it took another 10 min for my friends food to come out, which was strange to us, but It worked out because I am a super slow eater, so I got a head start, lol. The best Thai restaurant I've been to in Scottsdale! Every summer my family and I go back to Thailand to visit our relatives there, and I always end up eating Kao Pad Goong with most of our meals. Sometimes I get a craving for a taste of it but I've never found a Thai place in Arizona that has done justice to the ones I've had in Thailand (various places in Chiang Mai and Bangkok) until now! I would love to try some of the dishes on the dinner menu too, unfortunately I work night shifts. My mother was also very impressed with how her dishes tasted too. She even said that it tasted exactly like the ones she had in Bangkok when she used to live there. Overall, great food, friendly staff, comforting atmosphere. I come here most of the times during lunch as this place is near to my home and also to my work. They got very good lunch specials on their menu and the food is very authentic thai. Best thing here is their choice of spice levels , which i need to mention this because most of the places add some extra peppers or spices on top of the dish when prepared but this place i see they maintain the spice levels by the Thai chilies which is very authentic . This place is a small tucked away looks like but they had good taste of maintaining their interiors with some decorative traditional Thai crowns. We've been to Cha Da Thai 3 or 4 times and I have to say that this is the spot if you want above-average Thai food at a reasonable price. The atmosphere is a very calm, authentic ambience, very quaint and cozy with relaxing, zen decor and comfortable seating. I've only sat here when waiting to pick up my order, however- hopefully when this virus is over I can try dining inside. As far as service, each time there has been a sweet, middle-aged Thai woman who always talks to us for a few minutes while waiting for our food. As friendly as the staff are, we always end up missing an item, maybe a white rice or a soft drink. Same goes for the food- very pleasant presentation, however very middle-of-the-road when it comes to flavor. For appetizers, we have ordered the Chicken Satay, Ka Nom Jeep, Coconut Shrimp, Crispy Dragon Rolls, Deep-Fried Spring Roll, and Steamed Potstickers. The Chicken Satay was definitely the best appetizer, and the Ka Nom Jeep and Crispy Dragon Rolls were the worst, primarily because of how soggy they were. Everything in the middle seemed to fall under the category of "good, not great". The entrees always pick up the slack. We have ordered the Pork Fried Rice, the Cashew Chicken, the Pad Thai and the Orange Chicken. Both the Pork Fried Rice and the Cashew Chicken were extremely flavorful and decent-sized portions. The Pad Thai was a bit less flavorful but still worth the price, along with the Orange Chicken that wasn't as crispy as anticipated-but still a large portion. I also enjoy the fresh Lychee Juice and the Strawberry "Brick" Macaroon for dessert. Both are a nice way to finish off our meal. Overall, Cha Da Thai is great when it comes to atmosphere and service but lacks in the food department. Since I can not give 3.5 stars I was very torn between 3 and 4 stars but decided on 3 because of the quality of some of the dishes. Would I go back again? Of course! I'd definitely give it another try, but I don't see going frequently. read more

This evening my co-worker suggested we try this restaurant because he likes Thai food. After checking it out on yelp, I figured it was worth a try. I think they were a little startled when we walked in but in their defense, we are police officers in uniform so they probably thought something was wrong. I don't eat a lot of Thai food but our server was very patient and made a great suggestion, which was #67 Kee Mao with chicken (#3 spicy). My friend ordered the Pad Thai. Are usually don't rave about ice tea but theirs was very smooth and better than I have tasted in a long time. They we're always quick to refill our drinks without asking. My yellow curry was delicious! I could eat this multiple times a week! I ordered medium heat but it still wasn't very spicy. Boyfriend ordered chicken pad thai. It was just okay. It wasn't very tasty, nor spicy. We ordered a dragon roll which had pretty good flavor, but I bit into something hard and ended up pulling out some twine / rope (?), so that's when dinner ended. Glad we didn't start there. Staff seemed courteous and friendly, though they post a giant sign saying they will refuse service to anyone they want to, which I guess I understand but it wasn't very welcoming.
