6/7 out of 10. It was pretty hard to read the menu because of the bad lighting, but i think the lighting is part of the aesthetic haha. Besides the lighting, the drinks were okay. Their matcha was pretty concentrated so I liked that. Their coffee was pretty good & smooth. I tried Chamberlain yesterday and was very impressed. They have some fun flavor options for their lattes. I ordered a salted caramel and pistachio latte. It was quite delicious. First of all, it is such a cute coffee shop and when I went there, there was not a long line staff was helpful on selecting me pick a drink. They suggested the signature drink. I did wait quite a while and people that came after me received their drinks, but maybe it was because I ordered a signature drink. The drink was amazing. Truthfully, I was disappointed. The coffee I ordered was nothing special and felt like an overpriced Starbucks drink. They don't warm up their pastries and the service was a 5/10. The staff here was so sweet! I was disappointed they got rid of the peanut butter matcha latte and the guy ringing me up gave me a complimentary pastry and a 20% discount for next time! I think this has to be one of the worst matchas I have ever drank. I got the pistachio matcha and it was absolutely awful. It tasted like straight up syrup and I couldn't taste the matcha at all. I also received mine in a bigger cup than the actual drink. I know it's supposed to be in the smaller cups, but it just looked terrible. It just looked not filled all the way. Absolutely the worst. Please hire friendly baristas or if you're going to man the register, please have a sense of urgency. Not saying you can't have a conversation while ringing up a customer but pls be aware of other people waiting in line. Not only that, cashier was a bit snotty, TO ME in particular. I didn't have high expectations for Chamberlain Coffee and my instincts turned out to be correct. I'm not typically one for influencer brands, but my friend wanted to try it and I had time to kill. I will give credit for aesthetics, branding, and marketing. Clearly, the founder knows her niche because the line for the store was insane. I think we waited just under an hour and the line only grew as time passed. Service was solid too. Baristas were friendly, knowledgeable, and cool as cucumbers amidst the never-ending crowd. Points for including the charge of alt milks in the drink pricing also (with the exception of pistachio which is a $1 up charge.) But, to me, it all comes down to the drinks which were...bad. The ice oat chai was so bland (even for a concentrate) and tasted like milk with a dash of cinnamon. The strawberry matcha wasn't good either. Tasted synthetic and they didn't get the ratio of strawberry to matcha correct. Too sweet at times and not sweet enough at others. The premade matcha shot in a squeeze bottle makes for easy assembly, but I gotta wonder if the quality of matcha powder was up to snuff and/or if it was prepared properly. The matcha flavor wasn't shining through. I didn't taste the coffee, but the people in front of me weren't impressed by it. I think maybe they're trying to do too many drinks too fast before finding their footing and missing the mark. This place is new, so maybe once the hype dies down there will be improvement. If you're dying to try, maybe give it some time because right now it's not worth the crazy wait time. I honestly wavered between 2 stars and 3, but given all the great coffee shops in LA, this really missed the mark. read more
