I had the worst experience that I have ever had in this restaurant. We were a party of 4. Two of us ordered the Chicken Francaise, which had no flavor. We told our server about our concern. She proceeded to tell the manager on duty. After about 15?minutes we decided to eat our terrible meal because no one seemed to care. Finally the manager did a fly by, looked at our half eaten plates (only eaten due to hunger and not taste) and asked if we were done with our meals. At that point my husband said no because he was still picking at my plate. (He will eat anything!) The manager never acknowledged our concerns or offered any apology. Upon leaving, My friend approached the manager expressing her concern again. I explained my concern about his lack of attention to our problem to which he responded, " I was going to take it off your bill, but now I'm not!" (We had already paid our almost $300 tab with a 25% tip for our waitress who was put in a bad situation) At that point, I asked for his name, to which he replied, "my name is 'none of your business'". Having worked in the service industry at many levels, I am not one to post these types of reviews, but this situation was just so awful that I felt the need to advise others away from this establishment. I was able to go back and ask my server for the manager's name. (John) To the leadership team at this restaurant, John is damaging to your business. I will continue to tell this story. I chuckle when we walk in, it reminds me of the Regal Beagle from Three's Company, with the singles at happy hour :) Happy hour appetizer specials are the reason to come here, and the specials stop at 6pm so the place is always packed around that time. I cannot get enough of this place! I am positive there is no better deal in town than their "nearly half-off" appetizer specials form 4-6, and 9:30-close. I feel as though I'm stealing every time my bill comes after I have stuffed my face with a smorgasbord of seared Tuna, Calamari, grilled pizzas, Zippy Shrimp and Nachos.....ohh the Nachos. I have yet to have nachos that rival theirs, and I have eaten my fair share of nachos! The toppings are plentiful, cheese perfectly melted and the sour cream is absolutely mouthwatering....catch my drift...they're a must order favorite! Even beyond the happy hour, the entrees are scrumptious and creative. A lot of bang for your buck. I have never been disappointed here and I hope you're not as well after reading this recommendation. We come here as both a special occasion place and as a regular dinner spot once in awhile. We've always had positive experiences with the food and wait staff. We've never seen Chardonnay's not busy on a weekend for dinner, but we make a reservation beforehand and there is always a table ready for us. Appropriate wait times between being seated, getting drinks, ordering, receiving food, getting bill, etc. Wait staff are friendly without being overbearing or trying too hard. Highly recommend the scallop appetizer and mussels. Have never tried the pizza but it looks good when others have gotten it. We usually try one of the specials and haven't been disappointed yet. Prices are a little on the high side, but the food is good and the interior of the restaurant is nice. I've had the kabob trio on the regular menu which is tasy, although the beef tenderloin sometimes comes out a little dry and overcooked when I order it medium. Lisa and I stopped in here late (10:30pm )Saturday March 12th after a show at the Narrows Center For the Arts in Fall River. Working in the restaurant business myself, I do frown upon showing up late on my part, I did make sure to call when we decided to come and let the kitchen know we would be coming. Just the two of us grabbing dinner. Our first time here and we were definitely pleased. The atmosphere is loud when busy, but not too big a distraction. Wine: Mark West Pinot Noir - delicious, served by the glass (in 3 choices of size; 4, 6 or 8 oz). Appetizer: Pesto Caprese - excellent. The mozzarella was fantastic, as were the very fresh tomatoes. Entrees: 1. Chilean Sea Bass with Jasmine rice and slaw - very good. Fresh fish with tasty sides to compliment. 2. Jamaican Jerk Chicken - this was absolutely wonderful. Sides were Jasmine rice with mixed greens (lightly oiled). The chicken was cooked perfectly and the taste was very good. Dessert: Warm Brownie with Ben n'Jerry's Vanilla, walnuts and whipped cream - Yumm!! The only cons were the location, relative to where we live. But basically it is out there, which does allow for easy parking in the private lot. I will mention that when leaving that lot there are some shrubs in front of the restaurant growing toward the road, and greatly blocking the view of traffic. Second, the bathrooms. They are single so you have to stand around and wait or come back later. We are very likely to return one day. read more

Ok, what the heck has happened? We haven't been since pre-covid. I heard it from several people that Chardonnay's is not the same but didn't want to believe it. We have been coming to Chardonnay's for years. One of the biggest reasons we go is for the consistency. For the most part the menu items would not change and they would always have fabulous specials. I loved if I was in the mood for zippy shrimp, let's go to chardonnay's. If I was in the mood for pork medallion or sesame tuna, let's go to chardonnay's. We knew we would get the exact awesome dinner. So it appears someone thought to put their own spin on things and broke the consistency. If something isn't broken, DON'T FIX IT. The items on the menu look the same, however the way the dishes are prepared are not. The calamari app is on the salty side, over cooked and too crunchy. The sesame tuna salad now comes with a huge mound of mixed greens with a few pieces of tuna and the wasabi dressing mixed all in the greens. You can not have wasabi dressing like you would an oil and vinegar dressing. It nearly burned out my nostrils. This dish used to be a nice small salad with a decent portion of sliced tuna on top with a DRIZZLE of wasabi dressing. I ate the tuna, but could not eat the salad, what a waste. Thankfully my husband's steak was very good and the mashed potatoes seemed to be the same. It does seem to be true, this was not the same Chardonnay's. Please Al, go back to the original recipes or I can see Chardonnay's being the next restaurant to close just as 579 did. read more

This place is top notch! My girlfriend and I went for the first time to celebrate our anniversary as well as it was recommended by close friends. Our server (Trevor I believe was his name) was awesome he had great recommendations for us from food to local things to do since we were new to the area! He provided prompt service and didn't make us feel rushed or unwelcome. We had told him it was our first time here and after ordering two apps, two entrees, and multiple specialty cocktails , he was generous enough to bring out their signature dessert pizza for free! We got happy hour (I think that's what they called it) Sangria - it came in HUGE glasses and with a free appetizer. We each got a "mini" nacho plate thinking it would be a small snack. NOPE. It was a HUGE plate of loaded nachos for free with the Sangria. We also got two specialty pizzas. The fig and arugula one was probably the tastiest thin crust pizza I've ever eaten. My boyfriend and I went here after getting gift cards to it. They had a nice long wine list and we caught a great deal on a great bottle of wine (apparently on sundays if you order 2 entrees you get half off your bottle of wine). For our appetizers we got the pan seared scallops and lobster mac and cheese. Both were AMAZING. For dinner I got the Lobster Cardinale which was also great and had a generous helping of all the seafood in it which made me happy. I got the brownie sundae for dessert and even though i wish the brownie had been slightly warmer it was still very enjoyable. The restaurant was a little loud when we sat down but it quieted down quickly. Overall the food was fantastic and the atmosphere was pretty enjoyable, which surprised me because we had driven by it many times before and I had no idea such tasty food was hiding in there. read more

Very fancy and has been one of my favorites for years. Always used to come here on special occasions. Haven't been in a while, but... Food is good quality. I'm not sure what this menu item is called, but the last time I was here, I had buffalo chicken on sticks and they were delicious. Hot sauce is one of my favorites. So what if this is where mid-centenarians come out to play? Chardonnay's is the perfect let's-get-a-drink-and-a-bite-to-eat location if I find myself in the 'Konk or the Bucket shopping, at the gym, visiting family, or going to see a movie. Chardonnay's is neither too frugal or too fancy: it's not one of the hoards of chain restaurants on Route 6, but it's cool to roll up in there in gym duds if you've just come from Planet Fitness. Sidle up to the bar or the high-tops - preferably before six or after nine thirty so you can rock the cheap-ass happy hour menu - and enjoy a pleasant range of fare: from grilled pizza to fresh salads to simple sushi, and a well-varied list of appetizers. Pair a couple of those plates with a giant sangria, dim lighting, chill service - and I'm one happy lady! Their sangria isn't the strongest concoction, but it also isn't the sickeningly sweet mess that I usually expect out of those heinously ginormous glasses (there's a fair amount of ice in those bad larries, too). Their Parmesan crusted pre-grilled pizza crust makes a great base for their pizzas (also available to take and bake); and the portabella and caramelized onion pie is completely crave-able. Small plates of note: the clams portuguese and beef tenderloin with portabella - both steals for seven bucks each. Their soups of the day are solidly executed, well-proportioned and never too salty. Usually, I'll do a glass of sangria or wine, a pizza to split, a cup of soup, and an arugula and goat salad and it will set me back a whopping twenty bucks total including a hefty tip. There definitely is no other place in the immediate area that can compete in price, culinary quality, or atmosphere. One gripe/note: because of the grilled pizzas, you WILL leave stinking like the grille. I usually make sure I am wearing something that is easily launderable and leave my jacket in the car - another great reason to come straight from the gym! read more

Things have gone downhill here lately. My GF and I frequent this restaurant as she lives nearby. They have a solid niche in the local market as most of the nearby competition is the glut of chain restaurants/pubs in town. But after a few disappointing experiences in a row, we will be removing this place from the rotation. We arrived to a packed house on a weeknight. It was Restaurant Week. The 3 course specials were being offered for 35. We were seated in the bar area at a high top, separated from our fellow diners by a mere 18 inches. They were closer than my date! I dislike this type of seating but the GF was hungry so I complied. The result is that our server never came in to the table to engage, taking our orders and serving from behind me. She also simultaneously took orders from the couple who were seated at the same time right next to us. It was like we were at a table for 4. It was also excruciatingly loud. Well, we were in the bar and some people need to start screaming once they touch alcohol for some reason. Anyway, first course-she had grilled clams and I had Chicken parm meatballs. Both were very good. The entrees, however, were not. She chose the beef tenderloin, I had the Cajun rib eye. Both require an upcharge to the 3 course pricing. She didn't care for the cut of her tenderloin. It was stringy, chewy and somewhat tough. But cooked correctly-medium rare. I had the worst rib eye I've ever had put in front of me. No one ever checked in to see why I barely touched my more-than-well-done, dried out 1/2 inch thick "rib eye" which was ordered medium. There wasn't one bite that contained any color other than black or grey. Also, it came with a caprese salad, completely undressed. My GF was able to shout at the server over my shoulder as she passed by to request some balsamic dressing which was tossed in front of me...surprise! When she came to clear the plates she asked if I wanted a box. I mean, come on, I barely ate any of it but ate all of the salad. Did she ask why? I said no, that was terrible and she just whisked the plate away and brought over the dessert menus. Desserts were unremarkable. She had ice cream...it comes with nothing on or with it and I decided the only way to maintain a smile was to get more alcohol. So I went with the espresso martini. These are offered as a dessert choice. With 2- 35 dinners, upcharges, 2 glasses of wine and one glass of beer the bill was 115. And the meal pretty much sucked. Conclusions: There's no QC coming out of the kitchen. The bus boys run the food but they don't check it. Why would my salad be undressed? A previous visit was similar in that the greens accompanying the jerk chicken were completely dry. No one followed up. No one asked why the plate was clean accept for this huge pile of untouched greens. No training for the servers and no follow up to see if the dinners were prepared correctly. So you're getting pub/chain quality food (although Longhorn makes a better steak), with clueless service at an upscale price. They have all the business they can handle so why bother?? read more

Went here last night and it was better than I expected it to be! First off, at around 8:30 I called and said I'd be there in about 15 mins with seven people and if they'd be able to take us and they did! Once we got there our table was all set up and we were able to sit down immediately which mind you, I was completely shocked with due to the fact that they're ALWAYS busy. Once seated our waitress, who was incredibly nice and attentive, was already present, giving us menus, and telling us about the specials of the day. For my main course I got one of their specials which was a Chilean sea bass served with wontons and a sweet sauce, a side of greens, and jasmine rice. Very delicious! For the rest of my family that attended, I know they too enjoyed their food as well and my brothers and I even got dessert! For dessert I got another one of their specials for the day which was a cannoli cake served with a side of what I believe was cinnamon ice cream and it was delicious! Highly recommend this place for a date, family outing, or to celebrate an event. read more

I love Chardonnay's and their sister restaurant Meritage. My girlfriends and I got together for dinner at 7pm. The reservation wasn't ready upon arrival and we had to wait. It was a little awkward they sat 5 of us at a table for 4 so when the food came it was really crowded. I ordered the spicy tuna sushi to start which is always fresh and delicious. I decided to try a pasta dish for the first time. The price was $20.00 for the pasta which I found a little pricy since I usually dine at Italian restaurants in East Greenwich and never pay that much. It was ok. It wasn't great it wasn't terrible. I think I'll stick to the apps and pizza going forward. My margarita was awesome you should definitely get one if you go, they are huge! I definitely recommend you get their for happy hour which takes place from 4:30-6 in the bar area. They offer half price apps and pizzas. I really want to give this 5 stars since I go to these restaurants frequently...but the table and the lackluster pasta put a damper on this visit. read more

I went back....It was friggin fantastic!!!! My sister and I splurged big time but it was so worth it. We started off with the nachos...We practically cleaned the plate off. Then we split a pizza, forgot the name of it but it was a play on a margarita pizza. It was really really really good. Finally, I figured out what everyone was raving about. And then we split dessert. A slice of chocolate cake with whipped peanut butter in the center and it was coated in chocolate. It was oh my god amazing. Out waiter was really funny too. Great service, we were both drinking diet cokes by the gallon full and he was right there to bring us another refill. Great sense of humor too because my sister and I were both sooo hungry when we were there you would think that we had never seen food before. I met a friend here for a drink and was going to stay for dinner but we ended up going elsewhere. I was appalled at this place since it is the sister restaurant to a classier upscale spot in East Greenwich RI, Meritage. The name does not match up to this place. The location is on a main road in the middle of strip malls and looks like an old Ponderosa restaurant. The interior is open and the bar is smack in the middle of the place. The noise level was crazy and I guess I expected from the name something more low key. This looks like more of a sports bar. The menu is a slew of items thrown together on two pages, from buffalo wings to pasta. It didn't add up. They offer half priced appetizers at certain times of the night. A very big thank you to John our bartender, for making my boyfriend's 70th birthday so special, Monday night Aug 14th. There were 6 of us at the bar, the fantastic Happy Hour appetizers kept coming, and John didn't let our glasses get empty! I have visited this area often, and after going here for the 2nd time, I think I can review it. The food is awesome. They have such delicious pizza. The owner actually worked at the acclaimed Al Forno's (famous for their original pizza in Providence), and they have the same, if not better brick oven pizza. The crust is so thin, and the toppings are great. Along with a pizza appetizer, I had the Pear and walnut Gorgonzola salad and it was delicious! We went to Chardonnay's for fathers day dinner this past Sunday. We were warmly greeted and shown to our table which was in the corner of the restaurant, which I liked even more because it was so dark in the restaurant and we got to open the shade to let some light in. After sitting for about 5 minutes our waitress came over and took our drink orders. After another 10 minutes she came back with our drinks and told us the specials. Finally she came back and took our dinner orders. This whole time we were kind of wondering where the bread was, then our appetizer came and we had ordered the Calamari, which was okay, a little soggy and rather small portion. After we finished the app my husband got up and walked around, saw all other tables had bread, so he went and found our waitress and asked her about it, she said oh yes I'll bring some right out. The bread came out and seconds later our meal came out. Both mine and my husbands rib-eyes were over cooked, when the waitress finally came over to ask how our food was, we were almost done with the meal, we told her they were overcooked, she looked perplexed and said "I can take them back and have new ones cooked, but it will be at least 15 minutes" we of course declined. The side of lobster mac and cheese was okay, but it was almost completely devoid of lobster, and at 10.50 for a side I expected at least some chunks of lobster. The desserts were good. We had some of our leftovers wrapped up to bring home, we saw the waitress drop my leftovers on the floor(they were packaged up and in a bag) and she never said a word to us about it and never even checked to see if everything was okay, which is was not, the container with my rib-eye was crushed and split open and was leaking over the other package of food. The food was not horrible, but it wasn't outstanding either, but the lack of attention by our waitress was deplorable, the fact that she dropped the leftovers on the floor and didn't do anything about it, and the fact that we had to ask for bread, halfway through our dinner was unacceptable. I like the food at Chardonnay's, but the experience has never been great, which makes me reluctant to return. The place is always crowded, which is an indication of their food. Unfortunately, they don't seem to know how to deal with the crowd. This is even after making a reservation. While they are accommodating as you wait, its a waste of time to hang around before being seated. There's a wait to get a server, a longer than usual wait for food, a longer time for the check and even longer wait to get your drink refilled. The food is good but the experience is terrible. No one should be left frustrated after a meal. Beware of wasting your time if you go here. read more

Clearly there is strong and active leadership with the management. The wine menu is diverse and glasses are offered in different sizes. Strongly recommend reservations for weekend dinner. The food here is fantastic. Everything is cooked perfectly, even the pan seared scallops and the calamari-which are VERY easy to mess up. The pizzas are my favorite. I absolutely love this place! Good music, drink and app specials (good on Mondays) and pizzas that you can take home and are ready to bake. I like it better when they cook though. If I am in the mood for pizza I know where to go. They make a fig jam and arugula pizza with house made dried tomatoes and goat cheese crumbled on top. A furious combination of goodness. Its fresh and sweet but cheesy and crunchy all at the same time. The sangria is delicious and comes in red or white. The picture for the restaurant has a picture of a lady holding one.
