This was our second time here and it was really good! We ordered two of the beef and chicken combination plates with green onion and avocado. We substituted the steamed vegetables for a side salad. It was a little difficult to place a to go order this time around. I called and it rang for what felt like 3 years. I eventually hung up then called back and got someone. The man barely spoke English but managed to get my order taken. I asked for the total but he somehow couldn't provide that information. Whatever. I still go because I'm hungry and I've had their food before. I checked my food when he bought it out. Everything looked amazing, except for the fact that the salad was dressed in ranch. He was great sport for bringing out another undressed side salad with no hesitation. They receive 4 stars because of the food and the cleanliness. My first time here and I loved it! I got the chicken teriyaki plate with veggies, brown rice & avocado. The plate was huge but the dish was fresh and healthy, minus the portion lol. This was exactly what I was craving. Food was very savory didn't have an overwhelming teriyaki taste nor was it a thick sauce. The service was slow I had an hr. lunch but ended up having a 20 minutes rushed lunch (definitely calling in my order next time). The lady was friendly just hard to understand when she calls out the orders. Make sure you call first or you might be wasting your time. I went there at 8:15 to pick up food for the family after baseball practice. Owner/cook said they ran out of beef and chicken and that they were only serving seafood. I asked what time they close. He said 8:30 even though it's posted at 9: o'clock. I was polite with him but not happy. He then told me the truth ...that they weren't serving food because they already cleaned the grill. This is the 2nd time I went there to get dinner for the family. Sadly this establishment does not deserve 4 stars. The food is simply OK. I've only been here once for lunch this past weekend, but I have a feeling I'll be a regular, since I'm often in the area and I love teriyaki and avocado. Found this place on Yelp, and was surprised by the stellar reviews, since we drive by this area all the time, and never realized there could be such a hidden gem in this plaza. My BF and I and his friend decided to check it out, since we were looking for a quick, delicious, and moderately healthy lunch, and voila there we were. I ordered the chicken and beef and vegetable plate with avocado, which totaled about $10, which was such a steal because the food was fresh and delicious, and serving was very generous! Both the beef and chicken were perfectly cooked, and the teri sauce had the perfect amount of flavor and saltiness seating on top of a bed of white rice topped with thinly sliced avocado. I've never had avocado with teri or even thought about it, so this combo blew my mind. The plate was also served with a generous portion of fresh steamed veggies-broccoli, carrots, and cabbage-that were nicely placed in the container. The restaurant is clean. Service is good. Good sized, free parking in plaza. All three of us really enjoyed our meal, and plan to come back soon! It came on a bed of rice and was topped with green onions (I had them add avocados for an extra charge). Obviously, the meal met my standards...so I will be back, I want to try the salmon. My wife and I came here because of the fantastic reviews on Yelp. I ordered the chicken and beef with avocado plate to go. It was ok but the chicken and beef seemed like small crumbles and there was not a significant amount. The styrofoam plate was heavy because of the rice I guess. The salad that came with it filled the other half of the plate and came with a dressing already on it that resembled ranch. The salad was pretty good and wasn't just an after thought of iceberg lettuce. There was bright greens in there with perfect amount of dressing. The price is pretty good for what we got and the lady behind the counter was nice, but I'm not sure if I'll be running back here anytime soon. read more

This place was actually pretty good. Still prefer Sachi Teriyaki (see review) for chicken teriyaki in the city but this place truly made me fall in love with beef bowls again. The beef here at Charki's is absolutely mind blowing. Chopped very small but ridiculously moist and tender. It is also extremely lean - I think I found one piece of gristle but it sure beats having to fight through pieces of meat to find what's meat aside from what's fat. The teriyaki sauce is OK still not homemade but also not overtly commercial. Rice was a little overcooked it seemed. It bond together and didn't have the taste of individual grains as I would've liked and am accustomed to. if you love avocado do yourself a favor and get sliced avocado on top!! The perfect chicken teriyaki bowl. The chicken barely has any nasty, stringy, chewy fat and it's roasted just right. A bowl runs about 6 bucks and the portion is a good size. They also have burgers and burritos, which I've not tried but I over hear they are delicious. A coworker brought me here on our lunch break a few weeks ago and ever since i've been hooked! I get their chicken avocado salad every time and it is delicious!! it's also a pretty big portion. the dressing is a light sesame dressing, that reminded me of the dressing on chinese chicken salads. The avocado is always so fresh and there is enough chicken with every bite of salad. The owner is also a very veryy nice man, who is friendly to all and extremely likeable. Been going here because I'm addicted to their swai fish bowl!! For the price it's a great deal!! It's got a huge portion of rice and you get a good size cut of fish. It's grilled and the edges are charred, then topped with teriyaki sauce, chopped green onion and sesame seeds. It's the best!!! read more

Looks CAN be deceiving. Hole in the wall teriyaki joint I probably wouldn't have entered without a personal recommendation. It's small and basic, but the food doesn't match. Outstanding food at a reasonable price. Chicken avocado salad is my go to, but today had the beef/shrimp combo plate. Tasty! And the salmon someone else ordered looked amazing, that will be next week's lunch. Don't forget to add avocado to whatever you order, it makes the meal.
