    Shrimp and lobster carbonara
    Hannah P.

Everything was absolutely wonderful EXCEPT the steak. It was like it was seared slightly and the inside was almost raw, it was gross, so we took it home and finished cooking it. But the pasta was the best pasta I have had in forever, everyone that tasted it was amazed and they wish they would have gotten it. It was a large portion, full of flavor and so good. The calamari appetizer is a huge serving size, really good but will need extra dipping sauce for sure. Our server, Logan, was awesome. We had a large group and he was attentive, fun, worked hard and made the experience better for everyone. We sat downstairs and the view was gorgeous. Oh and don't forget about desert! The brownie lava cake is the best to end it all. Others had the key lime pie and loved that as well.

Easter dinner was....interesting. TLDR = Staff A+, ambiance & view A+, Food C- Husband ordered lamb, my mom and I the filet and my dad the New York. Out of the four....only one was a success. The other three came to the table so grey they resembled hockey pucks more than meat. We sent them back but my husband's again came back way over cooked. This time he just choked it down. The bisque was delicious and the salad approachable but neither swoon worthy. I guess being a Landry restaurant, you know what to expect. Nice views, not so nice food at high prices. Glad we went, enjoyed our visit but doubt we'd return.

First time here . There is only one Chart House in Oregon and I am so thankful. Came here for the Birthday dinner. Wonder table with a great view. Logan was our server Extrodinaire! I had the Clam chowder, Spinach Salad and Coconut Shrimp. Everything was so delicious. Finally got my Mud Pie. I don't think there is Mud Pie served anywhere else.

Chart House is a very nice seafood and American style restaurant located right on the hill overlooking Portland next to OHSU. This restaurant offers some exquisite meals and a beautiful view to match. Perfect for any celebration & seems to accommodate a large group as needed. They take reservations as well! The server was very knowledgeable and professional when it came to service and the proportions for each entree were fairly generous. They also have valet parking out front which is complimentary! Overall, I would recommend this restaurant if you are looking for a nicer place to dine or are going out with a group.

Happy Hour always hits at The Charthouse. We had to wait several minutes for a table to open up, first come first serve for the downstairs area. We got a cocktail, sirloin sliders, fish tacos and truffle fries. Everything was delicious and we got to enjoy some beautiful Portland views! Happy hour prices are such a good value too!

Our first visit to Chart House for Portland Dining Month was an absolute delight from start to finish. Making a reservation through Open Table was a breeze, and we opted for a Sunday lunch. Upon arrival, we appreciated the ample parking--even though the spots were a bit small, it was easy to find a space. After a short wait at the hostess stand, we were seated by a window with stunning views of the river and the surprise bonus of watching bald eagles soar by. The atmosphere was both relaxed and inviting, setting the tone for a special meal. Our server, Jose, provided excellent service--friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable about the Portland Dining Month menu. We sampled a variety of dishes, including the Kim chee calamari, firecracker shrimp, prime rib French dip, coconut shrimp, and lobster shrimp carbonara. Each dish arrived quickly and deliciously hot, with generous portions that left us with plenty of leftovers to take home. Dessert was just as impressive; we shared a mini lava cake, creme brulee, and salted caramel cheesecake. Every bite was decadent and satisfying, making it hard to pick a favorite. Overall, everything was delicious, and the experience exceeded our expectations. We left already talking about our next visit. Chart House made our first Portland Dining Month lunch truly memorable, and we can't wait to return!

I'm so happy Portland Dining Month was back this year! It really encourages you to explore new places or revisit older ones. On the last day of March, we stopped by Chart House for an early dinner. The $55 special closely replicated a standing $59 three-course offering on their regular menu. I opted for clam chowder, lobster and shrimp carbonara, and crème brûlée. While the chowder was thinner than I usually prefer, it had excellent taste. The carbonara was a standout; I plan to come back for the lunch version in the near future. Every table in the restaurant has a great view. Parking is by valet only.

Complimentary valet parking, which is mandatory. They don't let you park your car to prevent any fender benders. Had reservations for a birthday on a Saturday night and had a nice table with a good view in the downstairs area. It's very elegant inside and the place seems to accommodate a lot of people. The downfall with where we sat was there was a vent blowing cold air at one end of our table and people were cold! Also it was a very long dining experience, thankfully we had good company. We were there around 7-10. Food was decent, drinks were good. We got the crunchy coconut shrimp appetizer, that was good. Our friends got the calamari which had great flavor. I got the Caesar salad, shrimp linguine and mini lava cake for the chart course, I liked it all. Husband got the prime rib and said it was alright, he had the lobster bisque and liked that. Friend got steak and lobster and said the lobster was watery/chewy.. but overall everyone seemed to enjoy. It was a fun experience but probably just this one time for me.

Came here on a recommendation for my birthday weekend and it exceeded our expectations. Our waiter (Austen?) was so great and really made our first time wonderful. We started with espresso martinis, then moved onto mojitos- we got the mango, along with the mojito flight (even came with an extra drink mix flask to have one more round.) Drinks were so good and strong. I ordered the Mahi and B ordered the prime rib and wow, blew it out of the water. We also got sides of mushroom and asparagus, and the garlic mash was amazing too. For dessert, we got the lava cake, a side of seasonal ice cream (peanut butter with chocolate), and I was given a little birthday slice- great end to the evening. We were stuffed! We had to order the lava cake dessert ahead of time as it's made to order and takes 30 minutes. Everything was delicious and the view was super pretty as it's up in the hills by OHSU looking down on the river.

Came here during Portland dining month because I had a gift card and was super interested in the variety of menu options they had for 3 course menu. Came here during lunch and the best things I ate were the carbonara and crème brûlée. The clam chowder was watery and the Caesar salad kind of tasted like a salad kit. Still a good deal but probably wouldn't come here without the Portland dining month menu. Staff and service were great! It's lovely seeing the view too so come on a nice day!

It's a great place for a formal dinner, like for work events or celebrations. It's best known for its great view along the mountain top looking down towards the city and river. Food and drinks are delicious. Environment and staff is that of an upscale restaurant. Parking is valet only because of their small lot, so remember to bring a few bucks (cause many of us to carry cash anymore) to tip afterwards.

Me and my boyfriend came here for a celebratory dinner a couple weeks ago. It was beautiful! Made a reservation and got seated right on the window with a view, though it was dark out, it was still nice. Great ambiance and complimentary valet! Food was also excellent. Mussels to start, drinks, miso glazed salmon for me and prime rib for him. The combo special came with a starter as well and a chocolate lava cake for each of us! All that for $59 each. Not a bad deal.

Good food, views and service. Car parking is valet (free of cost). Coming to food, we had the prime rib, kim chi calamari, shrimp linguini, meatball on ricotto cheese and molten lava cake. $58 - 3 course meal is well worth it. We got the seating near the windows and the views were stunning. Chart house is a good option for birthday, date night or anniversary dinner.

I last time we were there you offered a combo menu that included a soup or salad, an entree from a selected list, and a desert. I don't see that on your menu any longer. Is it still offered?

Yes! The entrée s change from time to time. But it's there.

Can men wear a polo shirt, dark jeans and clean tennis shoes?

Yes- casual to formal are both fine.

    Is this restaurant Vegan friendly?

I cannot think of anything on their menu that is vegan friendly unfortunately.

The restaurant…read morehas an upscale yet relaxed atmosphere and I appreciated thoughtful touches like providing toothpicks in the restroom. On our first visit we had a reservation and were seated at a table. After ordering, patrons are served a complimentary leek soup in an espresso size cup. I wish it were on the menu because it is one of the best things I've ever tasted. The flavor is incredibly rich! We ordered the clam chowder, halibut, maple glazed carrots and tres leches cake. The clam chowder's presentation was nicely done but nothing special in taste. It came so highly recommended on Reddit and many other diners ordered it but neither my party nor I cared for it. The halibut was good but didn't stand out and the maple glazed carrots weren't to my taste. What completely won us over was the tres leches cake. It is one of the most delicious and most memorable desserts we've ever had. Every layer complemented the next perfectly creating an incredibly balanced dessert that wasn't overly sweet with different textures. We couldn't stop talking about it afterward. It was one of the reasons we decided to give the restaurant a second shot. After our meal I mentioned to our server that we weren't sure if we'd ordered the right dishes since we weren't thrilled with the food especially with how popular the restaurant is. He explained that it's primarily an Argentinian steakhouse and suggested returning to try the meat dishes. On our second visit we arrived at opening without a reservation. There was plenty of seating but since we didn't have a reservation we were seated at the bar. I didn't mind seated at the bar but the bar stools were extremely uncomfortable, almost torturous. Unfortunately, it was too hot to sit outside. Midway through dinner a machine, maybe a dishwasher, was turned on behind the bar. It was loud and the vibrations could be felt. This time we ordered the beet salad, cheese empanada, beef empanada, two filet mignons and the lamb shoulder. The beet salad was a disappointment. It consisted of large overly soft chunks of beets with what tasted like a basic grocery store salad dressing. For a restaurant of this caliber I expected more. Neither of us enjoyed the cheese empanada but we both liked the beef empanada. We also ordered two filet mignons cooked the same way. Both arrived more done than requested and one way more overcooked than the other. They were also on the salty side, though both were very tender. The lamb shoulder, which our server had already warned us about before we ordered, ended up being dry and tough. The chimichurri served alongside the savory dishes was also heavier on onions than I prefer. Overall, the service was excellent, and the complimentary leek soup and tres leches cake were truly outstanding. Unfortunately, despite two visits, the main dishes we ordered didn't live up to the restaurant's reputation for us.

When we arrived neither host mentioned our notes/anniversary, but we lucked out and got a booth close to where the staff enter/exit the kitchen. We shared a bunch of stuff & matched glasses of wines with courses. I ordered all courses at once so out server would be able to course out accordingly (which she did), noticing she took notes of our order. 1st course of onion rings/pork belly were delicious. Finished our drinks from the bar with these apps (bartender/drinks on point). 2nd course was a wedge salad and the shrimp cocktail, paired with chenin blanc and sauv blanc. Prawns were massive, but cocktail sauce could use horseradish. The manager dropped bread at this time, also no mention of our anniversary. Our server asked if we wanted to "substitute" the veggies for the potato. We said sure and thought nothing of it. The steak came out split and cooked to perfection (although she ordered us the bone in) and both sides were very good. Paired w/cab franc and nebbiolo. Upon finishing our meal and boxing up some leftovers our server brought by the dessert menu. I was surprised as we saw a few celebratory desserts hit different tables, but ordered a dessert and glass of port. She brought two desserts, sputtering out happy anniversary. Happy hour is Monday-Tuesday from 4:00-6:00 PM and Wednesday-Friday from 3:00-6:00 PM. We tried the HH menu, Truffle Fries, Brussels Sprouts, California Roll, Manila Clams with Grilled Toast, and Kung Pao Calamari. Everything was delicious except the calamari. The sweet Kung Pao sauce didn't match well with deep-fried calamari and made the food soggy. We also ordered the Dragon Brizz mocktail, it was just average, especially compared to the excellent cocktails. Overall, this is a great spot for the spectacular views, cocktails, and happy hour.

There were many large seating area available. One main cedar table was a big attraction. There is a fireplace with a table by it We got a table. I ordered a Borgona, fruit puree juices mix with Sprite. Never had one, but sounded really good. It came and it was delicious and fruity for a mocktail. We ordered a shrimp ceviche and octopus skewers to start out with. The Shrimp Ceviche was very delicious and it was something that I was very happy to share it with my friends. It was a big portion of shrimp cocktail with salsa on the bottom and these large sized blue chips. It was so good that we ate it quickly. Octopus skewers was a tad charred. Yet very delicious especially if you eat it with the pineapple together. Brings out the flavor of the pineapples quite well. We ordered the Pork Belly Tacos and Mole Shrimp Tacos which came in 3. I absolutely loved street tacos filled with good fresh ingredients. And both of these hot the spot. The pork belly was an absolute great flavor of the pork belly. The Shrimp was delicious. Cook perfectly and easy to devour quickly. DeFuego Nachos had Jalapenos. But wasn't listed. The nachos were delicious and it was quickly devoured. Wings came in 4 wings with garlic parmesan with carrots and celery and ranch on the platter. Heavily garlic on the wings yet very delicious. Half wedge salad was a surprise how much there is in the salad. A lot of fresh veggies there with cherry tomatoes and sliced radishes in it. I had a absolutely fun experience celebrating my birthday here. DeFuego had Happy Hour from 3pm to 6pm, seven days out of the week. Seems the Happy Hour here is very popular. You have 21 appetizers to choose from on the Happy Hour Menu. There are Mocktails, and any drinks you want available. Definitely will come back again.

Shoot. Last night I took my boyfriend here to celebrate a special event & we left so disappointed!…read moreWe got there at 7:15 & we were stuck there for over 2 hours! I ordered 2 things and both came out wrong. Our waitress spoke very loudly and we could hear her having long personal conversations with people a couple tables away from us for 10+ minutes at a time, several times. While we waited for her, we ran out of water a few times and I had to ask for more. It was over an hour before our order was even taken. We did flag her down to order an appetizer, brussel sprouts with cheese on the side due to a dairy allergy, but... the sprouts came out with cheese on them. They corrected this fairly promptly, but then we sat for another 45 minutes before our order was actually taken. I ordered a steak as "somewhere between medium & medium well" and she correctly repeated my order back to me "medium/medium well." When the steak came out, it was WELL well done. Like, burnt. I wanted to send it back, but I didn't want to deal with the embarrassment or have to wait even longer for food. We were about an hour & 45 minutes into dinner by the time we got our food. I was so disappointed! I also wanted to get dessert to celebrate the occasion but the service was SO slow that we had to cancel our after-dinner plans. We ordered it anyway & requested the check promptly, giving up on our plans for the rest of the evening. We were only a party of 2, we arrived early for our reservation, & we watched several larger parties come and go while we waited for our order to even be taken. It was a Wednesday night and not overly busy, there were several empty tables, so I'm not sure what the hold up was. We were also seated at an odd table next to the kitchen with a small divider between us and the staff. It was noisy and I even heard 2 staff members exchange a joke about how someone else had left & said they'd never come back. They laughed about it. I wish I had the guts those people had to get up & leave! I've never once left less than a 20% tip and felt immense guilt not tipping well, but after experiencing the poor service then also hearing the staff blatantly acknowledge it & not care.... I was appalled. The Hilton bought the hotel attached to De Fuego and I'm shocked. This was a Monarch hotel before and I'd assume that the Hilton's standards would be higher but the service and quality here have tanked hopelessly low since the acquisition. I had a similar experience at The Underground before it closed. I've learned my lesson & won't come here for a special occasion again.
