Cheddar's was one of my favorite places to eat every so often. However, based off of the last 2 times I went, I didn't have a great experience. Firstly because the menu was changed and they took out their spasagna (I think that's how it was spelled) and it was my favorite. Secondly, because the waiters sometimes don't check on you very much. The very last time I was there, it was about 10 of us and it was a busy day, so it's understandable, to an extent. The reason being is because no waiter or waitress seemed to want to take on our table. Yes it can be overwhelming to take so many orders but it's, unfortunately, part of the job and it's not like we were rude at any point. If anything, there was a moment where our waiter had a rude tone and we still didn't change our friendliness towards him. We sat for nearly an hour before being approached for our order. The good thing is that we all had each other company to distract us but it doesn't excuse the bad customer service provided on that day. Nonetheless, their food is still good and I hope new clients have a better experience to write about. read more

The food and service are ok. I did somewhat of an experiment. The city I used to live in has a Cheddars as well. I would order an entrée that comes with either marinara or alfredo sauce. I asked if they would put half marinara half alfredo. Seems easy enough...it's not. The restaurant in Lubbock, my previous home town, would do the half and half about 1/3 of the time. The restaurant here in Albuquerque has yet to get it right. While this is by no means an egregious error, it is one that happens most of the time. To top it off, the wait time between ordering and food arival is usually quite lengthy as well. The staff have almost always been pleasant, everyone has a bad day here and there. In all my visits to Cheddars I've had only one truly bad experience. And that was not here in Albuquerque. With all that said, Cheddars is the epitome of "you get what you pay for." read more

I went here Sunday evening for the first time. We had time to kill before our movie at Rio 24. I was really surprised at how packed it was! I'm talking no room to sit or stand in any of the waiting areas or outside! Even the bar entrance was being taken up a little by the waiting line! BUT, this isn't a bad thing!!! We decided instead of choosing another movie time and waiting, we'd just get a drink and appetizer at the bar. They had a few seats open luckily . There was one bartender, who was absolutely phenomenal! His name is Javier. He had a full bar with a couple people extra who were in the waiting line wanting a drink. He was completely calm and collected for having to deal with so much customers on his own! He didn't rush anybody to order, he greeted every single person and continuously checked up on all of us. He was very comfortable in his position and had a great sense of humor. I didn't get any flustered or overwhelming vibes from him, he was super efficient and clean! I think this guy really deserves some recognition honestly! Anyways, another bar tender did join him after a few minutes and they worked great together. Okay so review of the food! We got the trio appetizer platter. It came out in a respectable time seeing how busy it was. It's chicken tenders, spinach dip, and nachos. Technically I guess 4 because it also had a side of salsa. The dip and nacho cheese was delicious! The tenders were perfect too! I'm not a huge fan of chicken but these were fried so perfectly I ate most of them lol the salsa was house made I can tell. Very fresh. I will definitely come back for a full meal VERY soon. I wanted to ask if it's always that busy but I figured why bother anybody, I can just call another day. Went for Lunch after church service on Sunday May 26th. 2019 about 12:45 PM. I ordered the Chicken fried steak. It was good. Garden Salad was huge and I did not expect that portion. My daughter ordered the chicken pasta and it was dry and plain. My Son ordered the Chicken tenders and they we're o.k. I had this croissant that was drenched in butter that came with the house salad. Not everyone likes sweet butter all over there bread?? Terrible! What a mess!! And my wife ordered the meatloaf. It was disgusting!! Frozen pre made and the sauce tasted like they threw in a bag of sugar inside. Nasty!!!! But I saw the highlights on your menu.....yes you concentrate on those.....but for being a "Scratch" kitchen that meatloaf was frozen! And processed. The manager did comp the loaf but it did taste terrible! Hope you can improve that in the future. Also next time we would like all of our food to come out at the same time not in separate times. Cheddar's is always busy so don't go when you're starving. I wish they'd open another location! Ive been twice and while the food is consistently great, the service isn't quite up to par. Apparently, it would greatly pain them to offer any vegetarian/meat free options. They do offer 1, which is essentially just 4 sides and they call it a dish. There are more options at most bbq places than here. Just kind of weird. It's really loud also. My cousins chicken fried steak was rubbery and the breading was really thick. Cheddars is always superb in atmosphere, food quality and service when we come here. We visit every few months and have had different servers, and mostly visit in the evening and we have never had anything short of amazing, attentive, personable service. Friendly staff, excellent prices, great service. I ordered a steak, which came with 2 sides( I had steamed broccoli and the broccoli casserole), with 2 glasses of Mark West pinot noir. The wine and ice water was brought immediately and Fernando had my entree at the table before I could book a room online. The strip steal was perfectly cooked as were the sides. All for $23. Have had lunch here three times, and each time the service was terrible, dishes and serveware dirty, and despite complaints, management never made it right. Today was the last straw, and last time we'll go there. Four of us had lunch. Our server was not the best - and when she came to take drink orders we said we would also like to order our meals then too, she said, "Ok, but I HAVE to take your drink orders first." I don't know what is so hard about writing down both drinks and meal for people as they order... We needed a new set up as one person's fork wasn't clean, and a new one was brought and that fork was also dirty... Two of the glasses we were brought for drinks had pieces of old food stuck to the outsides of the glasses and all glasses were smudged and cloudy looking.Three people had salads - one arrived with an ice cube resting in it, the other two were wet. They were so wet that there was a quarter inch of water in the bottom of the salad bowls when they were eaten. Meals arrived, and most were fine, except a pasta dish where the pasta was so overcooked it was already falling apart and mushy when the plate was set down. The meat in the pasta dish was in huge chunks and not sized for easy eating. The other dishes (cornmeal breaded fish, and grilled salmons) were fine. The server came to remove some empty plates but also tried to pick up plates from which people were clearly still eating! We had to put our hands out and push the plates back down so she'd leave them! Manager came by and asked how everything was. We expressed our concerns, but he just gave a song and dance about how he'd talk to the staff about quality and service and make sure we "experienced the quality you expect from Cheddar's". As explanation for the dirty silverware and glasses he told us they "run a high volume kitchen". Well, ok, most large chain restaurants do, but that doesn't excuse dirty dishes! We arrived around 5:35 with a table of 6. The wait was 45 minutes, we were seated in 30. Service was good. I first tried Cheddars in its home state of Texas and was absolutely blown away, So when cheddars started being built in Albuquerque you can imagine my excitement my favorite drink is a peach tea which I always get with no matter what I order. I've tried mostly everything on the menu and my favorite dish is Key West chicken and shrimp it's glazed with a sweet sauce and pico de gallo with pineapples on top. My second fave is the Monte Cristo!!! Which is a fried sandwich coated with powdered sugar and I believe it's strawberry jam on the side YUM!! (sounds gross I know but it's really not, so don't be picky ) My third favorite dish on the menu is the Dijon chicken with mushroom. I'm not really a big mushroom person but this dish is definitely worth it. The service is a hit or miss at this place you either get a really great server or you get a server that turns you into a "let me talk to your manager" kind of person overall I really like this place and have introduced it to friends and family. read more

I usually love this place, we would come and get to go a lot of the time after getting off of work. It's quite a drive from our house, other side of town in fact, but we made the trek for good food. Now, it's been one craptastic meal after another. My wife had hairs in her salmon, my daughter chicken kids meal was spicy(we asked for no seasoning), our nachos were soggy. And just tonight, I got a grilled chicken pecan salad and 3 buttered Croissants , the grilled chicken is lemon pepper chicken(which i despise and wasn't mentioned on the menu nor given any other time I've gotten the salad), and the croissants are all bricks. You could near kill someone if you threw it at them, therefore inedible. In conclusion , we won't be returning here for a very long time if ever. I'm sure the management doesn't care, one family of three who comes/came 2 to 3 times a week isn't a big impact on their income. Maybe when they burn enough of us they'll start to care when it hits the bottom line. Makes me sad too, having an 8yr old and my wife and I working opposite shifts, this was a nice place for us to either meet in the middle or find a quick but nice meal. We went on a Sunday evening and our server Angela H. was the rudest employee I have ever encountered anywhere. I've heard from friends that this place has great food but had never been before. We were treated to dinner here for our anniversary with some friends. It was a Sunday night so naturally they were pretty busy and told us our wait would be 20 minutes but they had us seated in 10. The waitress was very friendly and prompt. Our friend has a few food allergies so her order was quite complicated and she got everything right the first time. The food was terrific! My fiance and I tried Cheddar's for the first time last night, and it will be our only time. It started with us putting our name on the wait list, not an issue. We asked a server who was passing by if it was open seating in the bar, her response was a very rude "Yeah.". I even made the comment to my fiance after this that I hope she's not our server. After about 10 minutes of sittig at a dirty table the busser arrived to clean it off and the server finally came over. We ordered our drinks and appetizer and when our appetizer arrived we asked for silverware and specifically napkins. No such luck with either of these. After ordering our meals, my salad finally arrived to which I once more asked for silverware. After running a tray of food to a nearby table and bringing them more hot tea, I still sat with my salad in front of me with no silverware. Finally, we got the silverware and both mine and my fiance's water glasses were empty. By this time I'm getting slightly peeved with her flippant attitude regarding the very obvious "steps of service". If you've ever waited tables (and I did for 9 years), you know there are basic steps of service. We finally asked for a refill on our water, she brought that but never asked if I wanted another glass of wine or if my fiance wanted another beer (we would have obliged, thus upping the price of the check and therefore the price of her tip). Our food came out and when I cut into my steak it was not nearly the medium rare that I ordered but medium well. I tried to eat it anyway, but it was far too dry. I asked for some A1, still no inquiry as to "How everything tastes?", "Is there anything else you need?", "Would you like another drink?", etc. Finally, we asked another server to send ours over. I mentioned that my steak was overcooked, she looked at it like it had two heads and said "Well, I'll take the whole plate back and we'll recook your steak, then I'll bring the rest of the stuff back." Meanwhile, my fiance is eating away at his food while I sit there with nothing in front of me, and when my food returns it's cold. I eat what's in front of me anyway. Recooked steak returns via another server and about 10 minutes later the manager arrived and asked how everything was. I told her how the service was not good at all, she did comp my meal as well as our appetizer, and we were very grateful for that. That was the one good aspect of the entire experience. Cheddars is a chain restaurant. This is important to remember as you walk in. The food is always consistent and that is important. What cheddars lacks is quality service. I've had this complaint with other hostesses before and it confuses me here like always. We walked in to cheddars last night at about 9:45pm. While I understand this is late, know that it was a Friday night and they don't close till 12am. I spoke to the host and told him I had a party of 8. He seemed bewildered that this size group was even possible. He mumbled something about cheddars closing at 11, which was confusing because we purposely checked on our way in to be sure they were open late (spoiler alert! They are). He said he'd need to go check if a table was available and he would let us know how long the wait would be. We stood to the side and he never engaged us again till about 20 mins later when our table was ready. I understand 8 is a larger then normal size group but why make people feel as if they are a burden to your restaurant? Why lie about what time you're open till? It's not like the place was abandoned, it was still packed when we left around 1115pm. Long story short, be prepared for lackluster service especially from the door staff. Is it scary that they have a 'Texas Tea' for 3.50 and a customer limit of 2 per visit? Prices are really good. While their beer on tap may be lacking, they have several options for drinks, and top shelf margaritas for 6.99--house 'Rita's are 3.50--and it's huge! Taste pretty good for the price. Waiters/waitresses work as a team--extremely rare since they are so new. I got chicken&waffles--huge! The chicken is awesome, the waffle ok. Worth the price. When we walked in, there were three girls at the hostess station and none of them acknowledged us. After they finally realized we were standing right in front of them, one led us to a table, threw the menus down and didn't say anything and just walked away. We sat down and the table wasn't even wiped down and we didn't get any silverware either. Luckily we had our waiter Pat, who was amazing to us. During our stay we witnessed bigger tables around us get properly seated and greeted. We even saw one hostess actually lay out the menus and spread out the silverware before the customers were even brought over to be seated. Waiter service is great. The girls who are the first impression at the front end of the restaurant, not so much. They need a pep talk about customer service. read more

We were told 30 - 40 minute wait. We wandered into the bar area since there was just two of us we thought we would have a drink and possibly eat at the bar. Within a few minutes two seats at the bar opened up. We sat down and it took a long time for the bartender or bar back to clean up the prior patrons dirty dishes and glasses. Once the bartender did she didn't wipe down the bar itself. YUCK. She comes back and takes my husband's drink order, asks what I would like and then walks away LOL okey dokey. She comes back and I give her my order. I must say the Cheddar's Long Island Iced Teas are really really good. They only have Bud, Bud Light and Coors on tap. The bar is way too small. Everyone was tripping over each other. The dirty glasses kept building up. We no sooner finished our drinks and our buzzer went off to be seated. Only a 20 minute wait. Our dinner and service was great. Our waitress was very attentive and friendly. Food was fresh and tasty. Writing this review made me hungry all over again. Our youngest is having a birthday this week and I am hoping she picks Cheddar's for her birthday meal so I can give the Sheppard's pie or Chicken Pot Pie a go. read more
