During this crazy time with covid and rarely anything being open I was happy to find that cheddars was open for dine in. As we walk in, my fiancé and got seated immediately, saw us coming from outside and had everything ready to go. As we sat down the table was very dirty underneath with food particles still on the floor, luckily the table had a sight that it had been cleaned and disinfected. We got out drinks, I asked for lemons and the lemons had some squishy substance on the that I know for a fact was not part of the lemon. As my fiancé and I ordered it was very improper. Using " wussup " as a reply to asking a question. Very improper. As our food came out i got the lighter portion of lemon herb chicken, it was undercooked, still having lots of pink in the middle. I asked for another one and as it came back five minutes later it was still under cooked. Asked for it to be taken off my ticket. As she did thankfully. The only thing I could enjoy was chips and queso and still could not fully enjoy it due to it being cold.. let's just say I was not enthused. read more

One of my favorite places because it's always good and inexpensive. (Usually go to the one in Bedford) bought a house very close last June and was so happy there was a Cheddar's close!!! But... There has definitely been something change over the last few months. We've waited soooo long to even get drinks ordered. Our appetizer never came last week and there wasn't even an apology or offer to comp it, she just said it would be removed from bill. Husband's chicken fried steak was inedible. Pretty sure it was freezer burnt. My food was decent but the week before, mine was terribly dry and over cooked. We've NEVER asked for free food because that's just not us but I see things being comped after complaints constantly here. We were seated right away on a Saturday afternoon so that should have been my first clue that we should go somewhere else. There seem to be a lack of cleanliness and a lot of disorder. The music was at ear bleeding levels. We ask the waitress if they could turn it down and she said she had already requested it three times as people were complaining. Once we ordered our food took almost an hour to get to our table and a lot of our order was wrong. Probably because the waitress could not hear us order. The food was Good, but just good, about what I could have made at home The place just feels wrong, it is not relaxing in any way. On 8/9 at approximately 15:30, I was 5 minutes away, I called in before hand to ask if they had a wait, Person on the phone tells me they don't have a wait for a party of 3. I get there 5 minutes later and to my surprise there were 25-30 people waiting in line to be seated. I approach the hostess and explain that I had just called in and I ask her why they misinformed me on the phone. She has no answer. It is obvious they were trying to get as much people as possible in the restaurant without having the capability. This alone gave me a horrible, unethical and deceiving impression of this Cheddars. If I could give them NO stars, then I would... Cheddars use to be my absolute favorite place to go for great service, delicious food and a nice time out the house with the family... but I must say the last 5 visits remind me why I should never come back. I'll first start with the environment... the place is DIRTY, trash all over the floors. My son and I decided to have a mother son date but we were quickly disappointed. We were seated and what I remember as being normal, was nonexistent. The service, we set at the table for almost 15 minutes without a single soul coming to see what we'd like to drink or appetizers. Did they even know we were there, you ask? Absolutely, a waiter serving other tables walked by several times without acknowledging our existence. Our waiter finally came over to take our drink or but for the amount of time we set there, we were more than ready to order. This then took almost 25-30 minutes to show up... not to mention the order was wrong. Just boiling with anger, no ranch for our tenders, waiting on the extra side and a plate.... everything is finally here... I used to love coming here. We haven't been in a while because we are out of the area. We came today and I will never return. My husband is a veteran with PTSD. I asked to be seated where he can have his back to a wall and not for people to be behind him. They sat us at a table with a table behind us but promised not to put anyone there. Then they put 20 people there. I asked to be moved since it wasn't what I asked in the first place and both the waitress and the manager was very rude and said that the business comes first. Which yes it does but we are customers too and you wouldn't have been in that situation if you would have sat us some where like we asked in the first place. We are used to waiting for a table it's not a big deal. Veterans served our country, why is it so hard to just sit them in a place they feel comfortable. I am leaving a one star review NOT because of the waitress- she was awesome and so so sweet!! I am leaving a one star review because she came to drop off our food and looked genuinely upset. So we asked if she was okay and she burst out CRYING saying that the team leaders, co workers, and MANAGERS (Charles, and Ernesto... I called and got their names after I left) were in the back making fun of her and being mean, and when she would get upset they would mock her for crying. She apologized and said she was just having a hard time holding it together. This is UNACCEPTABLE that an ADULT should be treated this way at their job!!! Somebody should not have to get up everyday and go to work to be bullied just to pay their bills! We had Matthew as a waiter! He was wonderful and attentive, and gave us everything we needed. He was also funny and observant, eventually getting comfortable and making subtle jokes that we really enjoyed. I went with my sisters, niece, and husband. I wish I wasn't going out of the country, or I would come back and specifically ask for him. As someone who worked in the kitchen in Cheddars, I saw that they sacrificed to give better ingredients than the one I worked at in North Dallas. The portions are smaller, but the quality of food is worth it. I commend their kitchen staff as well as the management for having such hospitable, genuine people in their employ. :-) read more

Went here on a Sunday. The food was good but the service was below par. We had a large party and that can be a challenge for any server. It took 20 minutes for our waiter to get our orders. We ordered appetizers, drinks and food at the same time due to how long we waited. The appetizers and drinks didn't show up until the food was brought to the table. When it was time to pay the tab our waiter disappeared for another 20 minutes. They need to assign more than one waiter to a large group especially when the waiter is inexperienced. Took my family there for lunch yesterday and got seated right away however it took them 10 minutes to come and take our drink order. In the meantime while waiting we looked at the tables, they were dirty, looked at the floor, there was spilled cooked corn smashed into the floor. Under the tables there were food scraps, and napkins with employees standing out front doing nothing. So by the time the guy came to get our drink order we were standing up and leaving. The waitress rushed us and other servers were noisy talking to one another while folding silverware right next to us. We were also interrupted by their vacuuming around us and under our table... My family and I ate here at this location and we will NEVER eat here again. We had by far the worst and incredibly disgusting experience. The service was slow but i understood since it was mid evening time and the waiter was very nice and sweet which was good. No complaints about the employees at all. My complaint is when my husband found a roach inside of his water glass and the roach was frozen inside of a piece of ice. We had just finished paying when we saw this. My husband told the manager and the first thing thst flew out of his mouth was "I cant comp your meal since you paid for it already." I understand that many people do this all the time but my husband firmly told him. "That is not what im looking for im telling you because you need to know that this is dusgusting." The manager says "thanks for letting me know we will clean the ice machine tonight." Which means people.... Great place to go if you don't want fast food, but still have a budget. I ordered the vegetable plate and got a choice of soup or salad, and choice of FOUR side veggies for $5.99. Isn't that ridiculous? I could spend more than that at my regular Taco Cabana or Chick-fil-a. Because of that, I ended up eating three courses. Neato. And Harold our server was excellent. My dining partner and I inquired how he pronounces the word "caramel" as in "carmel". Turns out he says "carmel", if you were wondering. I say carmel if it is the candy, but caramel if it is the sauce. I don't know if that's right. Anyhow, thumbs up for cheddars! Okay so I have lived in Arlington,TX most of my life. I have always LOVED going to this cheddars for lunch, brunch, and dinner. It has been always excellent. However, I moved for a couple of years and came back and now I am sorely disappointed. I get a change in management, and changing Cheddars name and dropping the casual cafe part, but whoever is managing this place seems to not have ANY restaurant sense at all. The bus boys can't do their job quickly and efficiently because they have done away with the tubs to clear tables, the tables are bolted to the floor so if you are a large party and don't have a booth large enough for your group you are out of luck because they can't move their tables to accommodate. They can't bring pitchers out to refill your tea which is way more efficient. Last night I ordered one of my favorite's, the New Orleans Cajun Pasta and they didn't clean two of my shrimp. So literally there was feces still in my shrimp which made me lose my appetite. This is not a culmination of just last night's experience but our past few experiences here. The wait staff has been stretched thin...and are being moved to different sections in the middle of their service so it takes over 25 minutes to be rung out for a check. Its terribly unfair to them because people don't understand and will forfeit their tips. They are trying to be something that they are not, and its not working. Why put parsley on french fries?!? It does not make it fancier and is such a waste. It doesn't even ADD any flavor. I just don't understand what happened to one of my favorite places to eat. The management needs to change and someone with more sense needs to step back in PLEASE. Right now I don't want to go back and that is crazy for someone who went there several times sometimes in a week. This is just not right. read more

This restaurant is popular and has been around for a long time. With that said, management is very comfortable and don't go out of their way for customer service because the line is always out the door. The food is mediocre, the drinks are good, and the prices are reasonable. The restrooms were disgusting. I notified management, an hour later, the restrooms were never cleaned. I cannot believe it has taken me so long to review Cheddars! This is one of my happy places when I visit my family in Arlington/Texas. It is the equivalent of an Applebee's, just Texas style. The food, service, staff, menu variety is great here! I've never had a meal here that I've been disappointed with. Every time we make dinner plans to go to. Cheddar's, I make sure not to eat lunch that day. Why? Because the portions are huge! You get more than enough food for what you pay. I've tried their chicken dishes and chicken sandwiches and they're all great. The chicken is always cooked thoroughly, which a lot of restaurants don't do. The BBQ sauce here is finger licking good! One thing I've never been a fan of is coleslaw. However, my father-in-law always raved about their coleslaw so I gave it a try my first time there, and my god, it is the best! I've tried a few coleslaws and have never enjoyed eating it until I ate it at Cheddars. As a side, I usually get the double coleslaw, that's how good it is. My family members have tried their seafood dishes, steak, burgers....they've all said nothing but good things about the food. I'm craving Cheddars just writing this review. Cheddars is great, but this location is awful, we went there on my lunch hour, we ordered drinks and lunch at the same time, there 2 of us and we only got one drink, the waiter was rude from the start, we tried to get his attention about the missing drink, we ended up sharing the one drink, I was short on time and needed our check, after several tries we got up and went to pay at the front, as we were walking to the front the waiter, a black man, got in my face and told me I had to pay him, I knew this, but he was too busy cutting up with another table.. I asked for a manager, he said he'd get a manager when he was ready. I walked up front asked the hostess for a manager and was taken care of immediately.. I hate to give negative reviews but sometimes it is necessary. I go out very often and I KNOW that mistakes happen and things go wrong and I will grant grace, but not when I feel deceived. We got seated after a 15 minute wait, (not bad was told 25-30 min. wait.) Waited about 7 minutes for waiter to show up. He took our drink orders, brought them, made them right, and then brought them correctly. No problem. After about 10 minutes we order.... and thus begins our wait.... and wait... and wait... 50 minutes or so our waiter comes and apologizes for not getting our order entered into the system! (OK, I understand things happen.) He said he would get it entered and get it expedited. 25 minutes later I flag down the lovely lady that seated us to ask her a question and she said she would get the manager... approx. 4 minutes later, food, waiter and manager come out. The manager says to us, "I understand we had a little problem. We got the food out in just a few secs after it arrived in the kitchen." I was speechless! She said it as if we were complaining about a little wait. We ordered almost an hour and a half before that. And then, she just left. I am not sure our waiter totally owned the problem, I'm not sure it was expedited, and I feel I was totally deceived. The 2 stars is because the food was good, not great, but good. Our fries were cold and tasted old. The chicken fried chicken was very juicy and delicious. My son's Alfredo that he ordered without vegetables, came with vegetables. My other son's burger was tasty he said. My husband ordered the pot pie with a soup. Both good, but the soup came after everything else. Horrible customer service from the hostess on duty. They are unable to accommodate parties of eight or more because the tables don't move and they are always short staffed or their servers can only be seated four people at a time according to the host. When we asked to sit in the bar area she sat other customers just to keep us from sitting there. The food was cold, the chips were stale and I refused to order for fear the Hostess would spit in my food. Her attitude was horrible even after I told her I realize it was not her fault she sat us in two separate rooms when there were clearly places she could have sat us together. If it wasn't my daughters only request for her birthday we would have gone somewhere else. I will never spend my money here again.
