Good food for a chain restaurant. The entrees are the star while I personally find the sides lacking. My entree of choice was steak and chicken tenders and I found their steak to be buttery and flavorful. I ordered the green beans for the first time which tasted oddly sweetened. The mashed potatoes are above average and always find their way on to my plate, but I can't find a second side (most entrees come with two) that I enjoy and I can't make myself pay an up charge for a salad that's just lettuce, a little tomatoes, with maybe a quarter of a boiled egg and shredded carrots and cheese. Their lemonades are fresh and delicious even on a cold rainy night. Kids meals are available and they allow the choice of any side with their meals. This fact comes in handy with a 6 year old who has recently discovered that they love a loaded baked potato which at most places comes with an up-charge. read more

The hostess double wiped my spot at the bar with disinfectant - nice. Décor is standard Chilis, Fridays, Applebee's - they all look and feel the same to me. I had the BBQ Bacon Chicken Sandwich with Fries and a Dos Equis. Service was fast and friendly, huge portion of fries. Sandwich was good, but nothing to write home about. Prices are fair. We TRIED to eat here on May 4 but decided to leave for an restaurant that would take our order. We were immediately seated when we arrived -- no wait at noon. Once seated we waited approximately 15 mins before I got up to see if there was anyone was working our table (we wanted to relocate because the AC was set to Arctic). I found two servers standing in an area off to the side. They were both staring into their phones. I asked them if there was a server assigned to our table. I was met with an attitude of "don't bother me," and then another server stepped out of the galley area with drinks--"That's your server," quipped the lisspie waiter as he turned his back. I went back to our table and the waitress who was suppose to wait on our table was already pissed at something and instead of rolling the dice with crappy attitude servers we left. And the server had a big smile on his face, but he was more interested in being behind the bar on his phone than he was in actually waiting on the tables in his section. Let me start by saying this place is definitely a quantity over quality restaurant. It's a chain and the menu has a variety of options and the portions are massive! All can be shareable. Most come with 2 sides. We started with the honey butter croissants which were delicious! Buttery and sweet. It was weird at first but surprising really good. The spinach dip was okay. Didn't really have flavor. The Wisconsin cheese bites were good. Pretty sure they were frozen and just fried or warmed up and served. The painkiller drink was good but so sugary and sweet. Will def need a painkiller the morning after if i drank the entire thing. Thankfully it was shared with a few family members. I decided to get the chicken tenders combo and again the portion was so big. I can't imagine anyone finishing everything. Nothing special about the chicken tenders. I wanted the hot honey sauce but they were out. The ranch was amazing! One of the best ranches I've had. Definitely was not hidden valley. The rest of my party had the same views. Big portions but quality of the food was bad. Also, the lack of vegetarian options was surprising. They didn't do any substitutes or modifications either. The place itself was really cute and the service was good. Nothing really out of the extraordinary. The food was okay but the portion size was just so big, like way too big. This place was pretty decent for a chain until it was bought out. Just went today for the first time since the acquisition and wow...it's tanked. The menu has been simplified to standard crap fried. My wife and I enjoyed a really good meal at Cheddars. After having the glazed croissants, Kàthey chose the garlic cheese covered tilapia over rice and some grilled shrimp with broccoli and coleslaw while I opted for the bourbon glazed pork chops on a bed of rice with broccoli and baby carrots. My wife got a free dessert as a member of the eclub so she ordered the monster cookie, a giant chocolate chip cookie heated in a skillet and covered with chocolate syrup, ice cream, whipped cream and a cherry. Our sever was excellent! He was fun and friendly, loved to joke around. He really made the experience a good one! The croissants the started ya off with her to die for! I wish I could have had 30 of them. We got the spinach and artichoke dip. It barely made it onto the table before I dove in head first. It was a really large portion too which I appreciated. The hostess, when she greeted us was just going through the motions, rather than being warm and inviting. She sat us, and the waitress was smiling while taking our order, however, it was just kind of a get it done type of attitude the whole time. The food came out in a fairly timely manner. I ordered Sirloin Steak, and it was the restaurant mass produced steak cut, not bad but not greatly flavored. The BF had the Ribs, and it was the same thing. Really skimpy on meat, more bone, but cooked well. Veggies were standard fair, no seasoning to them. Everything just, EH. I was recently traveling around the Asheville North Carolina area and this restaurant was nearby. The waitress and waiters were both very polite . After giving them my order to my surprise I was given a plate with a croissant drizzled with icing. It was delicious. I ordered the Salmon which was also so delish I went back the next day for dinner. The next day again I received not 1 but 3 croissants. Now I was dining alone and decided not to eat but save the croissants. I met up with family the next day and we all enjoyed them the next day. 4/5 October 2017. We stopped at Cheddar's the night we arrived in Asheville because we were looking for something quick, near the hotel, and not somewhere we had around home. Cheddar's appeared to meet those requirements. It turned out to be a good choice. The service was very good. Our server was very attentive but never rushed us. The food was good, probably slightly better than you might expect from a chain. I had cheese curds and they stacked up favorably with ones I had in Wisconsin. NO Spasagna (spaghetti and lasagna). I'm a college kid who just came back to town and decided I really wanted one of my favorite meals while visiting here with my family, well to my shock they haven't carried it for some time. I'm highly disappointed!! This was single handedly the best thing on the menu Two stars taken off for this /\ alone. In general we had a decent experience otherwise. we were quickly seated (which was surprising as we are a large family and it was 7 of us & we needed one of the long tables). We ordered our food, which came out in 15 minutes, and the kids were happy about their food. We enjoyed meals of several types and they were good. Personally I'm not a fan of the chicken Alfredo. It lacked flavor and spices, the sauce was bland, the broccoli was HUGE heads and there was actual entire baby carrots in it (????? Carrots!) My uncle enjoyed his Philly sub which was packed with the meat & toppings. The kids got a huge slice of the chocolate cake and they LOVED IT! It was very rich and was a nice way to leave the night. The service was decent, we ran out of drinks before we were brought refills but she was very nice & quickly brought A1 sauce and other small things we asked for once we got the food. But yesterday my family & I went back in to give it another shot & I was surprised & happy to say that my food once again was delicious!! Our waiter was nice & attentive. He checked on us often & even when he got busy at the end if our meal he brought us our boxes with a bag to put them in without us having to ask for the bag. The food was perfectly cooked the guys both had Steaks & I had grilled Chicken breast. I tasted everything & everything was very well cooked as well as perfectly seasoned. I enjoyed my dish a lot Grilled Chicken breast was so juicy & Shrimp with a Pineapple Sala yummo! The Broccoli Cheese Casserole was delicious. The Mac n cheese was fine as well as the green beans & carrots. My son loved the Chicken Strips, deep fried Cheese Curds & Nachos we had as a sampler. The Hickory smoked Ribs are outstanding. We gave this chain restaurant 3 tries; 2 in Lutz, Florida and once in Asheville, NC. The 1st time we dined in the Lutz location we had a very enjoyably Lunch. Our Waitress was pleasant and attentive. We ordered the tower of onion rings, which were tasty. Perfect for a group of 4. Since it was lunch, we ordered the Chicken Caesar Salad. It pleasantly had shaved parmesan cheese, penne pasta and a warm croissant. Yum! Great experience so, when we arrived in Ashville, NC and were looking for a restaurant for Dinner, we choose Cheddar's. UGH! What a mistake. We sat in the bar area which has tables and booths. We thought we would get quicker service, unfortunately, it was not only bad, it was HORRIBLE. Our waitress (Sherry C.) was having a really bad night and kinda forgot to put in our order. Not only did she forget ours, she forgot several other tables. We all complained to the Manager, who basically didn't care. She offered no apology and comped us on a glass of wine for the delay. When the food arrived, it's not "scratch", me thinks it's frozen to microwave. The "garden salad" was on my Shrimp Dinner plate. It was wilted and basically just lettuce :( I called over the Manager again, and she said Yep, that's about what it should look like. Oh, P.S. Sherry C. wanted a tip from us and basically said she didn't like working for free! Really, we don't like waiting over 1 hour for a simple dinner. Ok, so we are back in Lutz, Fl and hungry for lunch. We decide to go back to Cheddar's sat in the bar area for the 3rd time at a table. Our drinks and meals are ordered, we think we are good to go. Hold on, 30 minutes go by and we are out of conversation and have gone to the bathroom once, which is usually reserved for the end of a meal not during. I look around for our Waitress and discover, it's been so long since we've seen her, I don't know what she looks like. The table behind us hears my comment and points out that she is the Bartender and has totally forgotten about them and us. They are so mad, that they take their Lunch Home. We discuss with the Manager who apologizes and agrees to comp our meal. Never heard nor saw our Waitress again. So, we will not be returning to Cheddar's: disappointing service and poor quality of food. Hope the CEO of Cheddar's reads this and makes some needed changes. Went at noon with my parents for lunch. They were a little busy but nothing crazy. We didn't wait at all as people were being seated immediately which was perfect for our schedule. Our server was super nice however I can't remember her name unfortunately. We sat in the back corner by the outside door in the bar you could tell she was a little busy but she did her best. We all got burgers and they came relatively quick and were pretty good and cooked how we asked. The loaded mashed potatoes are nothing to boast about, kinda wish I got the fries. My dad did however and let me tell you we all loved them. Definitely recommend the burgers and fries for sure. I was looking at the little computer thing and I think our waitress thought we payed on that because she just came and asked if we wanted boxes and never brought a check. We didn't realize this was a chain until after we looked into Cheddar's. So this was our first experience. We ordered take out and ordered about 5 entrees, a couple of salads, and some starters. The food was decent - nothing was overly wowing but nothing was too terrible. Except, we were missing the gravy to our country fried steak, our loaded potato was literally just a potato in foil, salads were wilted, seasoned rice was just white rice. Not sure why there were so many issues, as the host mentioned they were not busy at all. We called in about the issue, and was literally put on hold for 20+ minutes as a supervisor was called. The supervisor eventually assisted and helped refund a bit of the order. However, having to wait for 20+ minutes when the restaurant was aware of the issues we were having was not good customer service recovery. A manager should come on the line immediately. Again, was not the restaurant was not busy so was Cheddar's just waiting for us to give up and hang up? read more

For a big box/chain restaurant Cheddars offers a variety of menu options different than most other similar restaurants. Their prices are by far much cheaper with better quality items than competitors. Service wasn't bad but wasn't good, it was simply adequate. They offer a decent variety of specialty cocktails though the moonshine Bloody Mary is terrible and I enjoy moonshine cocktails and adore bloody Mary's so I was disappointed. Their one time complimentary croissants have now moved to the appetizer menu and though they are only 2.99$ bread service seems like it should be a given with their comfort food menu and atmosphere. read more

We are from Maryland and don't have a lot of cheddars around us. I think the closest is in York, PA. Wasn't a long wait to get a seat about 20 min. Friendly server. Bland enough that I needed to load all the potatoes onto it for flavor. We also got the salsa and queso. Salsa tasted like something out of a jar but the queso was good. I have ordered take out from Cheddars twice in the last month. I find the service and the food to be very good. I must say, I ate here about 4 years ago, and found the food and service to be so-so. But I think the restaurant has made improvements over the years to keep up with all the restaurants in Asheville. The food is very good, and if you order take out, they package everything in a separate container. So, if you order the chips and queso with beef; they will place the queso/beef, and salsa in separate containers, so the chips stay fresh and crispy. read more

Baked potato was not hot or cooked enough, butter and cheese didn't even melt. One burger ordered medium well was blackened on the outside and over done and chewy. The lettuce was not fresh. Only received half of our order and Sara the waitress would not bring rest of order. She assumed we did not want the sides. The manager Taylor was not willing to assist in resolving our issue.
