It was pretty nice here. They have a cool fish tank, free wifi and their food is pretty good. I just wish they had a bigger drink selection.

Relatives treated me and my girlfriend to Cheddar's after the Christmas candlelight service. We'd not been to a Cheddar's before this meal, but we will be eating there when we're in Cookeville! The food portions are large; the Philly cheesesteak was loaded with meat, mushrooms buttons(!), peppers and onions on a good roll. Yummy! The fried shrimp were very good as were the seasoned fries, macaroni and cheese, and the coleslaw. Relatives had the chicken pot pie, potato soup, salmon, and broccoli casserole and they ate every bite. The prices are reasonable, especially for the quality and quantity of the food. Cheddar's is one of my favorite places to eat. The company has little or no advertising expenses, most people I have found haven't ever heard of Cheddar's. They rely on word of mouth for business and they are always busy. The end result is generous portions, which tastes great and at a relatively low cost, as compared to other restaurants. read more

First time here and came in for a to go order on my way home. Super clean, great atmosphere, and despite being super busy my food came out in a very reasonable amount of time. Both Josh and Lucas took great care of me while I waited at the bar and were both hard working, helpful and personable. I really do like this restaurant but once I was here and my sister had the spinach dip, and a piece of the bowl had broken off in the dip , she had eaten it and cracked her tooth not the best experience but other than than great place! read more

Had the waitress tip herself $6.00 on my card after we had left..later found out when I checked my bank account. I called to talk to a manager he said he would get it figured out and call me back and he never did. They don't care and are thieves. Will never go back. read more

I have to say, I'm really surprised at the decline in quality of service and food here. My husband proposed at this Cheddars a little over 6 years ago. So naturally, we tried to go often. This last visit was pretty rough. We both ordered the ribs and tenders meal. When it arrived his looked amazing and mine not so much. The chicken was great but my ribs were so dry I couldn't get the meat off the bone. It took forever for the waitress to come back to our table so we could tell her,but eventually she got a manager to us. The manager assured me a replacement would be sent quickly. Fifteen minutes later, and he has to apologize again for the wait, I finally got edible ribs. And the craziest thing of all.... They didn't even offer to discount the meal after the first set of ribs were terrible and the second set came after my husband was done eating. So so sorry to say that will be our last trip to that Cheddars. :( read more

Philly Cheese steak served on paper. Grease soaked into the paper so you were eating it. Worst waitress we have ever had in the 15 year we have been going there. I don't think it matters where one travels Cheddars is great every place we visit and this Cookeville, Tennessee location is no exception. The service was excellant and the food very good with prices that can't be beat.Every entree that was ordered was prepared just the way "mom" would have prepared the food. They have a vegetable plate that cannot be prepared with the variety available at home for the price they charge.By the way---this a a great place to take the kids and help maintain your eating out budget. read more

Ate here a couple of weeks ago. It always looks busy and someone told me they were great, so we tried it out. The service was okay (I think the waiter was new, he was pleasant, but didn't know how to clear the table). We did get the mozzarella sticks which were fine (hard to get that wrong). I had the steak and ribs with mashed potatoes and a salad. The potatoes and salad were fine, nothing to write home about. The steak was tough and the ribs were dry and seasoned with someone that taste like it came out of bottle (like those "smoke" flavorings). The portions were fine, couldn't eat it all, but I really didn't want too. My meal was $15.00, and I don't think it was worth it. My husband and daughter weren't to impressed with their meals either. Not only was the food excellent, but the service was INCREDIBLE. We stopped at Cheddars on the way to the Nashville airport for lunch. After dropping my sister off at the airport, my friend and I decided to stop at Cheddars on the way home for dessert (after lunch we were too full, and were dying to try the hot chocolate fudge cake sundae). What impressed us the most was the SERVICE... at both lunch and dinner, the service was EXCEPTIONAL. Until now, I've only received service like that at 5-star restaurants that cost a fortune. We went to Cheddars with a party of nine around 8:00 on a Sunday night expecting to be able to relax... this was not the case. While waiting to be seated, I decided to run to the bathroom. As I was leaving the bathroom, our server was complaining to another server about not wanting to wait on us. I chose not to say anything but the entire meal our server made us feel like a problem. Salads were forgotten, they were out of certain items after ordering and didn't apologize. I will not be back into this restaurant which I quite often dine at. read more

We love this place! Lots of food for decent prices! My favorite meal is the Key West Chicken & Shrimp and my hubby loves the Cajun Catfish with a large amount of fries. The fried Chicken tender platter is huge and will serve at least 2 people. If you like Steak, you can get a 8 oz Sirloin with 2 sides for around $11.00/12.00. Not bad at all for a steak meal. And the chicken quesadilla appetizer, which will make a good entree' is awesome. We usually start out with the Onion Ring appetizer which is huge for about $4.00 and they are not greasy as some review's have stated. They have lots of onion and thin crispy coatings. Their queso and spinach dip with Nacho chips are good too, especially the spinach dip. Good and cheesy with lots of spinach! This is a restaurant that we eat at quite often and the food is good each time. The only problem we have ever had is the baked potatoes not being hot enough and one time the chicken breast was undercooked. But, the manager apologized and made sure our meal was acceptable after a new piece of chicken was delivered. Food is usually delivered in a reasonable time. They have been slow on rare occasions, but this is a busy place. Waiters and waitresses are friendly and back with drink refills in a timely manner. One complaint on the food is that they do not serve any type bread or toast with the steak meals. They have honey coated croissants and bread for an additional price. I do think bread needs to be included with some meals! You also have to pay for fries separate from the hamburgers, fries are not included with the burgers. The burgers are large though! Wow, what a great visit. The service was excellent, the food great and the atmosphere superb. We were met at the door with a smile, the server was exceptional trying every way she could to make sure we had a great experience. I had the veggie plate and it was too much food to eat. Wife had salmon and said it was delicious. Our friends had chicken tenders and the were perfect. You must order the onion rings, what a delight. Whoever is managing this place knows what they are doing and have a fantastic training program. Our only regret is that we live three hours away . I wish we could move this restaurant to Alabama! The next time we visit the Smokeys we will definitely stop here on the way and on the way back. read more

Drove 1.5 hours to meet others who drove 2 hours to meet us for dinner to celebrate a birthday. It was busy, that is always good to see, but we were seated right away....right under an air conditioning vent. It was freezing. Our server was pleasant and this review has nothing to do with him. But really...We asked for queso and chips for appetizer...OUT of queso!, asked for mac & cheese for a side...OUT of mac & cheese; asked for broccoli & cheese casserole for a side...OUT of broccoli and cheese..at this point it was laughable. Then ordered lasagna and were told, well we are OUT of meat sauce...are you kidding. Then after dinner a chef came out to hand deliver warm cookies for the birthday treat..nice touch...maybe trying to redeem themselves for lack of other foods...but don't go to Cheddar's for the cookies, they had no taste. Have been to one other Cheddar's and had a fine experience..like I said...this just became a JOKE. first time here. went with my son. service was friendly and prompt. we had hamburgers. He had bacon burger and I had pepper burger. no complaints with the burgers. Prices were reasonable, but portion of fries was quite small for $2.19. Sodas were the same price, but we're 75% ice.
