    Homemade Onion Rings - delicious
    Ashley T.

I came for dinner with a group of people and Cheddars was a good spot for that. The menu has a lot of options at pretty fair prices. We ordered a few starters the cheese curds and a couple of orders of the onion rings. Both were delicious! For my main I ordered the chicken tenders which were just okay. There was a lot of breading around the chicken. Now if you are a fan of breading these would be right up your alley but I personally do not like very much breading so I ended up dissecting the tenders. For my side I got the broccoli which was very tasty. I would say Cheddars is the perfect spot to come with a group and order drinks and appetizers!

A local coworker suggested this place when my coworker also from Phoenix, Arizona was looking for a quick lunch spot while on my work trip to the Jacksonville office. We were seated quickly and our waitress was very friendly. Loved the croissants they brought while we waited, and felt very welcome. Very comfortable booth and enjoyed the conversation with my coworkers while we waited for our food. As for food, I had the bourbon-glazed salmon & shrimp. The homemade bourbon sauce had me drooling! I would definitely order again and found myself craving a couple days later. May return before I'm back, and have on my radar if work sends me here again.

We had a lunch date with our daughter, her husband and kids at Cheddars's scratch kitchen in Jacksonville. We started with the Spinach Dip, with chips, and a side of salsa too. Everyone loved it. The buttered croissants arrived hot and according to everyone, delicious! Our waitress Tanahiry ** Was exceedingly professional, kind and very attentive to our needs, and order request. I dare say she was one of the best waitresses we've had the pleasure of meeting in a long time! We had a variety of different orders and everyone at the table was pleased with their food. The grilled pork chops were terrific, and the sides were good too! The coffee was hot, and the taste was spot on. The price is normal for the area, a little pricey for 6 of us, but it was worth it. The restaurant is clean and well lighted (a big plus for me.) We would definitely come back to Cheddars.

Hanged out with colleagues for dinner and dessert at Cheddars Town Center before Thanksgiving as we gave each other gifts and spend time with each other's families. Mustard Chicken was my pick with sides of corn, mushrooms and red rice. It was warm and tasted alright. I should have added a little more gravy. Had the chocolate fudge cake and took a bite of the Apple Pie, they were both creamy and delicious. The payment iPad device had a bit of an issue as it automatically toggles through the tip and eventually selects 20% which the staff is aware of. Thanks for letting us know. This is a good place to bring family and friends as it is very spacious and great for get-togethers and there is plenty of parking outside.

My 1st time trying this & it wasn't bad at all. The sauce that comes with it really elevated the flavor!

Nate, our server, did an excellent job. Very professional, clean and presentable. The food was tasty. I enjoyed the croissants. The carrot cake was an absolute amazing. Hostess was not at the front so we had to wait for 5 minutes. She was not attentive. I would still come back and give the hostess a chance.

Service was quick and the drinks were great. The food came out hot with big portions, and everything tasted fresh. What stood out was having a gluten free menu it's not something you find everywhere, and it makes it easy to order without stress. Felt good to be there with my large over 10+ people group and we weren't rushed

We had a wonderful experience for lunch! Our waiter Zurich was so fun and friendly. He gave great suggestions and absolutely helped to sort out the large variety of options available. The complimentary honey butter croissant arrived warm and flaky... fresh out of the oven! It was so delicious I ordered 6 more to take home! We were starving so absolutely spoiled our appetite with a deliciously large trio appetizer that was plenty for our table of 3. We chose the loaded fries, chicken tenders, and spinach dip. All very good! My sister and I decided to share the steak tips given our generous portions of the appetizers and croissants and it was plenty... very flavorful however a little over salted for my personal preference. I did very much enjoy the broccoli cheddar rice casserole added as an extra side. There is also a full bar with many cocktail options that I look forward to trying the next time. There is so much variety that you can truly visit often and not have the same thing twice! Also, the value for the food is a quite nice bonus when you get the bill!

We were sat immediately, but then it took 23 minutes just to get an iced tea. We almost left just as our server finally brought out of teas. Then, there was literally a long black piece of hair in my husband's side salad. We told the server immediately, she carried it away saying it wasn't her hair but she would let her manager know. Well, my husband is bald and I have long blonde hair, definitely not ours either. The manager came over apologizing and saying she took the two teas off of our bill, so $6, her words, then walked away never to return. After that, our food came out. I couldn't eat my buffalo chicken wrap, I was completely put off of eating and the entire dining experience there. It's a shame because I have always loved going to the cheddars in Texas and was excited to go today but now sadly, I'm not sure I'll return to that location. Poor service, hair in the food, poor management response, not cool at all.

The staff were friendly but super busy due to inside volume of people. The food looks good and the steak was cooked fine, but the chimichurri had too much oil & fries were super salty. Like it was fried in it and topped off with it... I had let the person who brought the food out know (who works with the chef), and they never offered to bring me different fries. They just said they would tell the kitchen but didn't offer anything and so I didn't eat the fries at all. This plate being $38 before tax, I mean you want good fries....For the drink I got one of their mocktails which honestly was not up to par at all tasting like water and cucumber and nothing else, and I ended up ordering a soda... Again staff are friendly, but if management could pay attention a little more even when they're busy, it would help a lot, especially if someone is not happy with their food. I will not try this place again for a while as there are other places better than this that have similar dishes. Again when people are eating alone or in a group, make them happy with the food please...

Upon being shown to our booth, the floor by the table we were seated at was extremely slippery. At first I thought it was due to a fresh mopping and they had just forgotten a sign, but it stayed extremely hard to navigate the entire meal. Let's get into the highlights: some of the freshest table side guacamole I've ever had. Made right in front of you and you get a ton for what you pay for. My lunch portion of my Yucatán Quesadilla was only $9.99 as it was a Friday and it was just okay. Unfortunately, I did have to cut it myself. The "small" margarita for $12.99 is absolutely gigantic. In fact, every drink I saw come out was of ginormous proportion and seems to be the main draw here. Unfortunately, I was a bit let down by both the salsa, as even though there was a full bar, none of the options were all that tasty. The biggest detractor was honestly the service. Our server was extremely nice on the surface, but every opportunity was used to upsell by every member of the staff. A bigger drink, another appetizer, another drink, handing us their card and asking for a review following paying. I normally never have issue with this but it became overwhelming at a certain point. This restaurant absolutely feels like it has potential, but might suffocate over its mistakes in an extremely crowded Town Center/Southside Market.

One person in our party asked a question regarding an entree on the menu and he was met with a smart remark and little to no detail explaining the entree. Later on in the night when the whole table is done eating - we all decide to help out and clean up the table as best as we can. Frenchie decided it was a good time to make yet another smart remark about stacking the plates on top of each other. She continued to say "Have you ever been a server before?" and before really answering she cut me off to say "well then you should know not to stack the plates because you don't know if the server can handle that many plates" ... as she continued to take the pile of dishes out of my hand. If she can't handle too many plates in her hands, then she should've just waited to clear the table or politely say "i'll come back for those plates in a minute" by the end of it all , the entire table felt very uncomfortable by her demeanor towards us - of course we still tipped because we understand what it's like to make a living off of tips but to have a sour attitude and continually reminding us that you're here for tips isn't a great way of having customers coming back.

The artichokes were just okay, and honestly I'm not sure how much was the restaurants fault or the fact that artichokes are a pain to eat and theirs nothing to them but chewy leaves (the rémoulade was good though!). The Avocado Bomb was very good, although one critique was that, while, yes, it was crab salad at the bottom, the crab was nearly shredded, but overall a good dish! I opted for Prime Rib (as rare as they could get it to me), with au jus and smashed potatoes. My wife decided on the Carolina Crab Cakes, jumbo lump crab, chili mayonnaise, mustard sauce, French fries, and Southern coleslaw. I also opted for a side of horseradish sauce per our server's recommendation. I will say that I've ordered prime rib before in similar chain restaurants (some of them chain steakhouses), and without fail they come out nearly well done. The excuse is always because "it's precooked and it is cooked to a certain temp...blah, blah, blah". Yet, I ordered it here, and it was cooked exactly as I wanted it. Now, I won't claim it was a great cut of beef, but it was good and did the trick. The potatoes were good as well. The horseradish sauce, though, had far too much mayo in it and tasted like it. But still a dish I would order again! My wifes crab cakes were very good as well, a great amount of lump crab meat without the filler you see so often. The coleslaw was typical coleslaw, tasteless and pointless when you have a dish at market price. But the fries were good! Overall, we had a good experience; the service and food were very good. If in the area again, we would certainly return, and this may have me visit other J. Alexander's during my travels elsewhere.
