Now that I've been to Cheddar's a few times I can write an informed review. My experiences have been so varied that it is hard to form a solid opinion of the restaurant. First visit was unimpressive, second was "meh", third was mostly good. The restaurant has a casual laid back ambience flanked by partially open views of the kitchen. With the made from scratch mantra comes a little longer wait time for each meal to be prepared but I'll happily take that instead of frozen precooked food. Just make sure you are not in a hurry especially with a large party. On one visit my kids order took extremely long to arrive but the server (PJ) proactively remedied the situation without us even complaining. I'd call that good service. The menu is large and there is a lot to choose from. Most of the food is good (not exceptional). I went out a limb and ordered The Monte Cristo. Turkey and Ham & cheese encased in dough and deep fried. It was a lot for one person. The outer dough was a bit much but overall it was tasty. Try the croissants as they are flaky,buttery and gooey simultaneously. Honorable mention also goes to the fried shrimp and the French fries. Both were appetizing. Overall Cheddar's is more like 3.5 stars but I'll round up today. Large menu great for a large party with varying tastes; good service and clean, bright atmosphere. read more

Taken one star off because my pain killer tasted minty fresh like Colgate. I've had these many times never had one taste like that. Of course they gave me another drink I got the sweet rose but I was so in the mood for a pain killer or two. Our food was very good. We sat at the bar the bar tender was very knowledgeable and of course nice enough to change our m minty mistake. I got the bourbon salmon it was great a tad bit salty (I'm not a salt user) with mashed potatoes & gravy and the broccoli casserole it was perfect. My daughter got the baked potato soup she said it was good she got another bowl. We got the cheese curds appetizer so good! My husband liked his burger but they mage it well done when he ordered it medium. He was of course too hungry to send it back because we waited until we we starving to eat which I'm sure they would have corrected it. The fries were very tasty. All in all I say for a busy Saturday night it wasn't bad. If you wanted a table it was a 20 minute wait which still wasn't bad. Oh and I can't forget the incredible yummy croissant bread so good. We sat at the bar and the bar tender was nice she was adorable she was very helpful. read more

This restaurant is super close to our home and is a very convenient distance to this spot! Cheddar's is a casual dining experience. We had a great experience previously when we visited, however this go around we weren't impressed. The food was quite salty which didn't leave the best taste in my mouth. I had ordered the Country Fried Chicken with side of Broccoli Cheese Casserole, Loaded Baked Potato, and Texas Toast. I don't know what happened but the Country Fried Chicken was super salty. I took one bite of that chicken batter and it seemed like it was slathered in salt. The loaded potato was not like what I expected at all. It only had sour cream and cheese. I mean...when I think loaded, I would expect bacon at least right? The broccoli casserole was the only item on my plate that I enjoyed, unfortunately. Other entrees that we tried were the Chicken Tender platter, Vegetable plate where you can choose four sides and a soup or salad and the Monte Cristo Sandwich. For appetizers, we also tried the Onion Rings which also seemed way salty for me. The Chicken tender soup was pretty good. I will give them one extra star for customer service because our server was super pleasant and even provided us with some free extras for some missed items that we ordered. So, kudos for service! Service was terrible. Sat for 45 minutes and no food came out. The guy and the manager kept saying it was coming. Meanwhile we put our order in before a few tables and they received their food no problem. Blake was in a bad mood from the jump. Walked around the restaurant and barely any customers so I don't know why it took them so long to prepare food. After the 3rd time of them saying, "it's coming out" we just advised we are leaving. read more

This is actually our second time eating here. This is a nice family atmosphere restaurant. Cheddar's Scratch Kitchen prides themselves, and follows their "made from scratch" motto. I love the made from scratch theme, and I feel that a lot more restaurants should follow the concept.   We ordered the following: Honey Butter Crossaints (appetizers) Chips and Homemade Queso (appertizers) Philly Cheese Steak with Loaded Baked Potato Cheddars Club Hand Fried Breaded Shrimp with Mac & Cheese Lemon Pepper Chicken   Taste impressions... Right off the food bat, their Appetizers is Scrump-DillyDilly-OH-Shoos and I am talking about their Honey Butter Croissants and the Chips and Homemade Queso. The Crossaints, nice and fluffy, melt in your mouth, not too sweet goodness. And the Chips and Queso, while it's sounds like just about anywhere you can get, it is actually really good.   The Philly Cheese Steak that I sampled (wife ordered it) was good. No wow factor, but it was good. It was better than most Phillies I have tasted here in Jax. The kids liked their Cheddar Club and Fried Breaded Shrimps.   The Lemon Pepper Chicken I ordered, however, lacked seasoning, tasted bland and was closely cooked on the dry side. Something was just off. I was dissapointed.   All in all, the portions and food prices is pretty good. Friendly, attentive staff. Food was cooked and came out at a reasonable time. read more

Just got done eating here and the waitress whose name is Princess was absolutely the worst and most childish waitress I have ever bet sat with. We had to ask for refills because we knew she wasn't paying attention and would never stop by. The food was mediocre at best as everything was small and had no flavor. As we were leaving Princess thought it was a funny idea to make a gesture behind a person in our group but I don't think it was as funny as getting no tip. We will not return ever again or recommend this place. read more

The food is amazing for one. When we went, my girl and I, we got 2 appetizers, and I got the country fried steak, and she got the ribs. The food came out quite quickly. Our server was very attentive. This place has the best Monte Cristo I've tasted in quite some time. And the painkillers are a close second. We were actually headed to the Virgin Islands just after our first visit to this restaurant, so we felt it was appropriate to prepare with the island's well known beverage of choice. The signature croissants and all of the other food choices we experienced were divine. While this restaurant wasn't even on our radar, it pleasantly surprised us. Very delicious place! Their Cajun pasta dish is definitely worth trying, and even though it's garlic bread, their garlic bread was very yummy ! The chicken Alfredo pasta was kind of plain (but good!), almost like any other chicken Alfredo place, so I'd say get something else unless you're super craving chicken Alfredo. read more

We were just there Saturday and almost went again on Monday. The location is the largest I've ever seen - possibly several million to build in Town Center. Menu selections are the same everywhere but the apple pie with ice cream large enough for family of four was not longer on the menu. We all ordered soup and the vegetable platter with a croissant too. Normally I have chicken fried something or other and a few sides but that day my dentist decided I needed a bit more work when a crown broke, sigh. I couldn't even eat an onion ring with half my face numb. Prices are reasonable, portions huge and very flavorful. So nothing really stands out here. The food is just ok. We started off with onion rings. They were crispy, flavorful and not greasy. Two of us got burgers and fries and one ordered the country fried steak. Everyone liked the food but we are definitely not rushing to go back. The service is not the best but I'm sure it was just our server. She rushed us at the beginning to get our orders. My friend got her side salad before the appetizer came. That was fine but our server never came back to our table until after we were eating our entrees. NOBODY ever gave us drink refills and at one point we had to ask another server for help. Went for lunch with my daughter and had a good experience. It took a bit for our waiter to get to our table, and when he did he apologized saying there was a mix up with which staff had us. My daughter ordered the salmon and I had the coconut shrimp. The sauce that came with the shrimp was great! I wish I had come at dinner and could gave it in drink form of the painkiller. I think it was a bit pricey for lunch and we did not get refills but other then that we will be back! read more

Cheddar's is the newest company to be acquired by a Darden Restaurants and I'm a fan of the most of the other Darden chains so I figured I would like Cheddar's but based on my first experience I'm not sure I'll be back anytime soon. We arrived around 4 pm on a Sun, before the dinner rush and were seated immediately. The hostess wasn't particularly welcoming but was fine. Our waitress was mostly adequate but not very friendly. Hubby ordered a margarita but was looking at the Texas margarita on the menu. I guess he should have specified because what was bought out to him was a Grande top shelf rita which was huge and a few dollars more than the Texas. He's didn't want to make a fuss over usually so he kept the Grande and got a good buzz. We ordered the Chicken Pot Pie, BBQ chicken and ribs combo, Grilled Chicken Alfredo, and Key West Shrimp and Chicken. I make a mean pot pie and thought it was pretty good although I prefer to have potatoes in mine. We did find a small piece of bone so you know it's made from scratch. Hubby wasn't impressed with his dish, chicken and ribs. Said the ribs were too dry. I didn't care for the alfredo too much and thought I can do better but my daughter enjoyed it. The portion was quite big. My dish was the Key West Shrimp and Chicken. I liked it. Because of the flavor from the pineapple pico, I couldn't tell that the rice was bland. The chicken was moist and cooked perfectly. I didn't care for the black beans very much, it should have been cooked longer and the loaded potatoes should have came with bacon. So when I said our waitress was mostly adequate, she did give my daughter a refill on her lemonade before she needed it, got our orders correct and out to us but needed some work in the service department. We were charged for two ice teas on our bill and when I told the waitress, she took the receipt and walked away. She came back with the correct receipt and then apologized. Going there was kinda last minute. I decided to follow my tip and signed up for their eclub but after an hour or so I didn't receive the welcome email but decided to go anyways. I eventually did receive it almost 24 hours later so I have a coupon for free queso but I'm not sure when or if I'll go back and redeem it. It doesn't expire apparently. The reason I didn't sign up when I made the tip was a lot of welcome offers has an expiration date of two weeks. Cheddar's has been opened for less than 3 months but with all the competition at the Town Center, you would think they would come with their A game. read more

My family and I have found our favorite go too place! They have a good variety of dishes that will satisfy almost everyone craving. My daughter ordered chicken and the other chicken tenders, my husband ordered a sandwich and I ordered a Buffalo chicken wrap. After ordering, the waiter brought us a basket of croissants. OMG!!! They were so good! They were buttery, flaky and hot fresh out of the oven! If they were on the menu we would have ordered another basket! Everyone enjoyed their food, the service was great and atmosphere was clean and casual. We will definitely go back!!! read more

We stopped in after moving our youngest out of FSU. The best thing is they told us a 30 min wait and we were seated in 10 minutes. which was sweet. The environment is nice semi loud but you can hear and enjoy your conversation with medium lighting I ordered the Texas t bone med rare and it was done to perfection. well marbled and juicy. I am honestly so upset and disappointed. I came in at 4pm on a weekday, was sat in a section where the waitress only had 2 other tables and wasn't asked what beverage we would like to drink until 15 minutes after we were sat. After that it took at least another 10 minutes for us to get the waters we asked for. We were served the 2 complimentary croissants, but upon taking a bite they were extremely cold and the butter had completely solidified. When we asked our waitress about it she said they had been sitting in a warmer and shouldn't have been so cold. She did bring us fresh ones however they had no flavor like others had described to us. Now to get into the actual food, we both ordered burgers with fries. I ordered the Bacon Cheeseburger and my partner ordered the Smokehouse burger. Both burgers came out soggy and you could tell they were frozen patties, the bacon wasn't crispy and the fries were so very clearly old. We both tried drenching our fries with salt and pepper to give them just a little better taste and covered them in ketchup but they couldn't be saved. Not to forget the smokehouse burger which was supposed to be covered in bbq sauce had barely any on the bun. Honestly I would highly recommend NOT eating or dining at this place. This was my first visit to cheddar's and I decided to place a to-go order. I explained to the person at the to-go that this was my first visit and I'd like to try a burger. She promptly recommended the bacon cheeseburgers and said that they were excellent and I wouldn't be sorry if I choose that item. I decided to go with that recommendation. I waited about 20 minutes and my order was ready. The fries were in a separate container ( key when you don't want soggy fries from burger dripping) and the burger was hot with juice running down the side of the bun. I could wait to try it so I went to the car and took a big bite. Wow she was so right! The burger was juicy, tender and flavorful. The fries were great too because they were seasoned. Have tried restaurant at different locations over a time period of years and it has only been a continuous disappointment. Decided to give it a hopeful visit on 5/19/23. Should mention in this area there is quite a selection of food establishments to choose from, just wanted to give this one another chance since it had been awhile. I ordered the shrimp pasta, and the hubby had the grilled lemon pepper white fish over a bed of white rice. First the shrimp pasta dish came with broccoli in it which I requested to be cooked hard not steamed. The dish came out with the just thrown in the dish, not even mixed in the pasta. The shrimp was overly seasoned with Old Bay which made it extremely salty, also two different types of shrimp in the dish; some with tails and some without. The Alfredo was the most disappointing of all, totally watered down liquid! A jar of sauce could have been faked better! Sent backed to the kitchen, for another meal chosen off the menu, another fail also. As for the hubby's dish, fish also over seasoned and plain white rice. The place had continual patrons that seemed to enjoy the selection placed, while I on the other hand kept thinking if Gordon Ramsey was here I could hear the yelling! Had dinner here tonight with my family to celebrate birthdays. What a mistake. We got seated quickly but took a while to place our order. When we FINALLY got it, we had no utensils. When asked the server for them she said ok and we never saw her again. After a few minutes, asked another server to get them and by then our meals were lukewarm warm. I went here with my family knowing I wasn't very hungry. I saw a grilled cheese on the menu with little description, but I figured I've had some amazing grilled cheeses at restaurants, I'll try it. Had the ribeye today. Ordered it medium, but it came out rare. Luckily, the waitress was a good one, Jamie-Bacon! She had the kitchen cook it a little longer. While it was cooked properly, it was a little chewy. While my steak wasn't the best, it did have flavorful seasonings. My sides were excellent, broccoli cheese casserole and the green beans. My friend was smart and got the country fried chicken which she loved. I'm wishing I would have had that! This is my 4th or 5th time here. I like this place for the "comfort" food. read more

Chicken pot, chicken pot, chicken pot pie... I was at the Town Center just after the lunch rush, so it seemed a perfect time to try someplace that might otherwise be packed to the gills with a prolonged wait time. The day felt like it called for some southern comfort food, so I decided to drop by Cheddar's Scratch Kitchen for a spell, and I was glad I did. The dining area had a classic, but modern feel. It was a pretty open area, with some glimpses of the kitchen hard at work. Cheddars also boasted a good amount of servers around the dining area. I had an amazing server, Myron B, who did a great job answering any questions I had about the food, and who was sure to stop by the table periodically to make sure everything looked and tasted good. So what to eat? Well...sometimes southern comfort food is just what's needed to ease the appetite, so I went with the chicken pot pie - flaky crust housing a tasty medley of cream, vegetables and chunks of chicken, and big enough to not be overly filling. I also had a house salad to even things out, which tasted great with the pomegranate vinaigrette. I closed lunch out with the new chocolate raspberry mini-cake (Thanks for the hookup, Myron!), which was a nice blend of fruity and chocolate richness. Since all the food was made from scratch, it came fresh from the kitchen to table, so I expected a bit of a delay; however, the food came out pretty quickly, so I was pleased with that. The mini-cake, in particular, was very warm and fresh and provided a complementary "sweet" to the "savory" of the pot pie. I highly recommend checking this spot out! I hear the fried chicken is pretty legit, so I'll have to come back for that. read more

Well been in love with this restaurant ever since my first visit to FL 6 years ago. Catfish isn't on the menu at this location so I settled for the Cornmeal whitefish, there wasn't much seasoning and it was cooked a tad bit hard yet it was still kinda tasty. For sides I had fries which were a little overcooked and the mac cheese which was cool. Before we were seated we went to the bar for a drink I had the Island Tiki which was a mix of Captain Morgan and Malibu rum... it creeps up on you like a boss. Even though the meal could have been better the service was great, we were told a 20 min wait we were seated in about 10. The place was clean and the decor was nice. Guess I was spoiled by the Ft. Meyers and the Columbus, GA locations. Still the fish NEEDS to be seasoned. read more

Now I love cheddars, and I come here often, but this is by far the worst experience I've ever had at one of their restaurants. So for one, we came on a weeknight and the hostess told us it was going to be 30 min wait. We didn't mind waiting, however we ended up waiting over an hour for our table. Once we were seated the waiter took another 15 minutes to come to us. Once we ordered our food took so long that they were practically closed. Because they took so long we requested that our food just be put in togo boxes because we all had to get home to other responsibilities. Now I wouldn't have even left this review because time isn't something that restaurants have much control of and I understand that. However, when I returned home to eat my food, i got to the bottom of my soup and found an EXPIRATION LABEL at the bottom of my container. How disgusting?? Management wasn't helpful at the restaurant with the extreme wait time we experienced or when I called to complain about stickers being in my soup. Needless to say I won't be returning. read more

Cheddar's deserves a 4 star for food but yet again service knocks it down to a 3 star. I would have kept it at 4 stars but the place was empty-ish for my late lunch and I still had horrible wait time for drink and food. I sat at the bar hoping to guarantee good service as there were only two other people sitting there but no luck. I sat for 10 minutes without an acknowledgement as several servers passed me by...I will point out they were not the bartender; however, a simple I'll get someone to help you would have gone a long way. I ordered a tall beer and the cheese fries on the appetizer menu. The beer came quickly (obviously) :). The fries took a while which I'm sure is expected as I prefer quality over thrown together food. I laughed when the fries came out b/c my goodness this is an appetizer that could easily satisfy 3 (maybe 4) people. I did not see the bartender for a while after receiving the fries. After he appeared again it took me another 15 minutes to flag him down for another drink. (Still now only 1 person at the bar and a couple of tables I saw him serving in the bar area). When I got my 2nd beer I asked for a meal for my kids to go and my check to make sure I did not wait past the beer. Unfortunately it took 25 minutes for my to go to be delivered (kids chicken tenders and fries). Even worse the bartender didn't appear at all during that wait time. Not once. I hate it when service ruins a meal...but I would understand it more if there was communication. The disappear or don't acknowledge service is what burns me up. There are a ton of great places in town and this place has the opportunity to be an awesome happy hour spot (my husband asked me to check it out for lunch to see if it can be our new happy hour spot) but I'm not sure if happy hour would be better. Next time I visit I'm going to try just drinks and see how it goes. read more
