Back to back days of eating here and again this was a flawless experience. This time I tried the chicken tenders tossed in the sauce. I have to say they do a great job with the service. It came out super fast and was very hot when we got home. The honey garlic sauce flavor is definitely my favorite now. The french fries were also crispy and tasty. Again, I am wowed by the size of these tenders. They definitely are doing things right here. Highly recommend you try this place!

I was in the Manchester area and saw cheeks chicken and waffles. I recall having a great lunch there about a year ago. Knowing I wasn't able to eat there due to time constraints I ordered tenders and waffle, wings and waffles, six piece nuggets and hash fries. This isn't a fast food place. The food is made fresh to order with care. The 20 minute wait was well worth it. Service was fantastic and friendly, and the place is spotless. The smell of the food as I was driving was almost unbearable. Even though I reheated in an air fryer the chicken was moist, tender and delicious. The waffle included was a great contrast to the chicken....kind of a savory vs sweet. Very comforting. I only wish i lived closer to enjoy this place more often. Definitely give them a try! I'll definitely be back

Great food and great owners! We stopped in today for the first time and ordered the Spicy "Cheekin" Sandwich and the Cheek's Chicken and Waffle. Both were really yummy! The sauces were also very good, I like the variety. In the future, I think they could add an even spicier sandwich to the menu! The inside is super cute, and the owner was really friendly and personable. I also really appreciate how much they give back to the Manchester community. Overall, this restaurant is a wonderful local spot!

Tenders and waffle lunch deal and Mac n cheese bites

Yum! Ordered here on door dash and was not disappointed! They currently have a lunch special deal so I grabbed the chicken tenders with a waffle and Mac n cheese bites! Arrived hot and crispy. The waffle was delicious. I've been to Belgium and I will say this one rivaled the crystal sugar sweetness and density that I enjoyed in my waffle in Belgium. The tenders were big and the chicken was fresh and moist and not weird or stringy like chicken sometimes can be! Support local and check them out!!

Seperation of 3 Piece Tenders and Waffle

Amazing. Amazing. Amazing. The chicken was juicy, flavorful, and plentiful. As for the waffle it was soft and crispy where it needed to be. I was provided warm syrup on the side which went amazingly with the waffle. They made sure to separate the waffle and the chicken, leading to an amazing experience taste wise. The service would be the best based off of how considerate they are, they provided utensils, which not to mention came with a fork, knife, salt and pepper packets and a napkin in one plastic casing. I also received napkins on the side, which they made sure was enough. Most places throw a fork in there and that's it. Although I can't say much for the employees and ambiance because I ordered online, this food is amazing and Cheeks is honestly one of my favorite places to order cheap delivery.

Excellent chicken sandwich! You can stay traditional or mix it up with different sauces. Their tenders are excellent too!

Cheeky mac and cheese bowl and Fried Pickles

I previously brought Cheeks through Uber Eats and thought it was pretty good. Trying it dine-in was disappointing. It took 15 minutes, and the food was mixed at best. Though the fried pickles were great, the Mac and Cheese Bowl was a goopy mess. The chicken was good, but the Mac and cheese was brand. The worst was the drink. It was expired, and looking at the other soda bottles in the same cooler, most of them were expired too. To make matters worse, because I opened my drink, there were no refunds. Oh, and if you didn't open it, they were placed back into the cooler to be served to another customer. Are you serious? If I didn't open my drink, you would have given it to another customer? What a disappointing experience compared to when I got delivery. I honestly will never come back. Though the prices are reasonable and the food is usually good, the lack of care with the Mac and Cheese Bowl and the expired bottled drinks make me question my decision to go there.

Not sure what happened they use to be great ! Received VERY SALTY chicken and when I called about it the customer service was horrible. Both young male and female stated a manager would reach out and when I followed up no one knew what I was talking about. The young male kept switching the days the manager would be in to address the issue. I will never order from here again and will share my experience with others . Note to the manager: GET WORKERS THAT WILL PROVIDE DECENT CUSTOMER SERVICE. At the end of the day the customers keep the businesses running

Looked the place up online and it listed dine in, take out or delivery so I asked a collogue to join me for lunch there today. The place looks like they haven't put a dime into fixing it up for a very long time. Two old wood picnic tables with vinyl table cloths wrapped around the tops and seats on one side, the counter on the other. Ordered two sandwiches and two drinks and waited at the table. Sandwiches come out and we were told we had to leave and could not eat at the table. Why advertise dine in but kick people out after they order? Complained to the girl at the counter but she couldn't care a less. Brought back to the office but food was cold by then. The sandwiches were pretty good and they came out quick with good prices, to bad they wont fix up their restaurant and allow inside eating, it could have been great, instead its only 2 stars and wont be back.

*** DO NOT ORDER THROUGH THE YELP APP OR GRUBHUB*** Use DoorDash only…read more It was my first time ordering online, so I made this mistake tonight. I showed up for my pickup only to find that they didn't get my order. The staff told me that they only do DoorDash I had to cancel the order with GrubHub and then replace my order. Thankfully, there was enough of what I needed to get an order to go. Now that I got the unpleasant part of the story out of the way, let's talk about the amazing place that Southern Dishes is. If you've din d in a traditional southern food restaurant before, you'll recognize the setup. Meals are served cafateria style, that are portioned for you by the staff. You place an order at the counter and grab a seat or wait to be called if you're going to-go. Once your name is called you grab your tray and bring back to your table. Tonight's trip was a simple kid's meal of a (large) fried chicken strip (white meat) and mac and cheese for my son and a large collard greens (made with turkey). Having had all three before, I can vouch for their yumminess. I would be lying if I didn't say that I shared a few mouthfuls of the mac and cheese. This is the bomb, or whatever everyone is calling it. The mixture of cheeses, these crispy top, the well cooked pasta...it's the trifecta of the perfect mac & cheese. If you like collard greens, these are legit southern greens, not like the other ones that restaurants try to pass off as the real thing. The potlikker (liquid from the greens) is amazing. Other mentionables are the fried chicken, the fried fish and of course the wonderful banana pudding! For an authentic southern meal in CT, make the drive to Meriden. You will not be disappointed.

It is, without question, the best soul food in the state. I have no problem running down I-91 from Hartford just to get my food because the quality and taste are on a level that nobody else can touch. Don't let the neighborhood fool you; this is a masterclass in authentic cooking. Sandra and her husband Miguel have been running this place for over 30 years, and that level of dedication shows in every single dish. The food has the kind of soul and precision that defines the elite dining scene in Connecticut. If you want the real deal--the standard that every other soul food spot is measured against--this is the only place to go. It's a class act that has stayed true to its roots for over 30 years.

Ever since that day and the subsequent floods, I've been wanting to give SNG a proper visit and give a proper review. Fast forward to July 22, 2026 in Hartford and the walk I made to the ice cream right on the same street as the state capitol building. When I reviewed that place, I had to look back at my old reviews and found I had had those guys before at the Hartford Taste Festival of 2025. At that moment, something clicked. Didn't I first find about Sandra's this exact same way? I knew my job had a sponsor event the Saturday of that following week (now today). I came to a revelation. THIS was the night I had to go! I NEEDED to get to Sandra's and I needed to do this now! Upon arrival, the location is very unassuming. It has such a huge following, yet one can easily pass by this place if they don't know what they're looking for. Coming inside, I had found it to be a bit of a learning curve to even find a menu, let alone order. Turns out, you have to go outside and look at the menus outside to make a decision, something I am definitely not used to. Not a bad thing, but just something to keep in mind. After you order, you are given a number, and then you wait outside until they text you that your order is ready so you can go pay. What is a plus here is that I got my food in a considering less than the amount of time I was promised. It was maybe about 10 minutes after I ordered when it was ready when they I was told it would be ready in 20. Now, back at that fateful festival, I did have the fried chicken, the Mac and cheese, and candied yams. Now, let it be know that I NEVER eat yams. I just never felt the need to have those in my life. That being said, I do remember being pleasantly surprised by how they tasted. That night was a great lesson in getting through your dinner before going to have dessert in a way that it didn't feel like I had to have a parent tell me to do exactly that. I remember liking the dinner overall, but not being wowed enough to really give it 5 stars if it were a proper review. Maybe a 3.5 or 4. Tonight, the Mac and cheese makes its return, this time with string beans, blackened shrimp, and BBQ Pork Ribs. Oh, and I nabbed this neat container of fruit punch because it was so humid it was like Connecticut just moved South to Northern Florida. Yeah, we'll go with that. Between the 2 Mac and cheese's, I would say tonight's edition was better than what I had at the festival. The string beans are a good vegetable side that definitely has an authentic Southern taste to it. The blackened shrimp is on top of a small bed of brown rice and beans. You do need to take the tails off each the shrimp, but if you know how to eat shrimp, shouldn't be an issue whatsoever. The rice and beans are cooked pretty too might I add. And the ribs. Oh my GOD the ribs! Most times in CT you have to go to a true BBQ spot to get good ribs. But they did well with this rib. Fell off the bone, and the BBQ sauce had a nice kick to it without being overpowering. It didn't feel too skimpy like the ones I had from that Dominican spot I went to last week. The authentic, homemade soul food is worth the hype. Speaking of the hype... So when I first read reviews of Sandra's and ironed through who was reviewing this place, I did not have a good first impression. It was as if because of some of the people who rave about the food, they intimidated me away from making my visit here for a while without saying a word. What if I went, didn't have a good experience, leave a bad review, and then I end up summoning an angry mob chanting to have my head on a spike? It was a real thought that went my head at one point in time when thinking about going there. But still, I needed to come here, and now that I've been, I can say I'm glad that I did. Sandra's serves soul food that they have every right to be proud of. It's not a place I can come to often, but I would be happy to come here again to try more of their food items, especially now that my first memories of Sandra's are now completely behind me.

It looks small from the outside but it's pretty spacious, there are a selection of small tables and white club couches in the front where the bar is, two unisex restrooms (which got SUPER filthy because people apparently don't know how to handle their liquor at 2pm on a Sunday) and then the back with the larger group tables and the "VIP" section with more white club couches. Many people left with take away plates, so the portions are pretty generous. The prices are reasonable ($12-16/plate). The succulent, juicy brisket that I used to dream of has been dry and cold for the last year or so (probably 3 or 4 visits). The burnt ends, which used to be as addictive, are now no longer made from brisket...but what seems to be cubed chuck...again, dry. Texas sausage and pulled pork are still ok, as are the sides. On top of that, they are always short staffed, and the staff that they do have is not helpful...not friendly.. Just a big NOT anymore. I haven't been to the Hartford or New Haven locations recently, but as far as Windsor is concerned, it will not be going back anytime soon. I don't mind paying the premium prices for quality food and service, but you are no longer premium. Please figure this out. My favorite place no longer exists.. and I really want it to return to the quality of the past.
