I have lived in Waikiki since 1993 and the Cheeseburger in Paradise has been open since 1997 so finally, last Saturday, August 6th, 2022, my partner and I visited it for the 1st time for breakfast & I must say, "it was a great experience" It all began with meeting the hostess "Ariel" who was super charming, super friendly and filled with Aloha, (3) essential ingredients to show and share with incoming visitors, anywhere, especially in Waikiki Beach. Thank You Ariel for your contagious energy. The place is quite inviting, open air and with nice views of the beach right across the restaurant. We were looking to experience a new place for breakfast in Waikiki Beach since we live in Waikiki Beach and after doing our early AM walk, this was the chosen place. Ariel brought us to our table, as I said, she was lots of fun. The server who waited on us was also a gem....Isabella could not have been anymore warm, welcoming and patient! She was fun and really presented us with all the Breakfast options and answered questions from the menu. I picked the Breakfast Special and it was just perfect! It came with unlimited hot coffee and that is a good thing in the morning! Nathan had his breakfast choice which look delicious as well. The food was delicious, the speed at how the food was brought out was great, the place was welcoming but the workers made the biggest difference! GREAT JOB Guys/Gals! I fully recommend this place for breakfast!! 10000% We plan to go back for breakfast again and sometime later this fall, we plan to return for drinks/happy hours & dinner & possibly lunch as well. I walked in at 9:00 pm. Restaurant seemed busy, but there were some empty tables. I sat at my table, and no staff person came to my table for 25 minutes. I noticed waitresses passed right by me, but they did not come to greet me. After 25 minutes, I noticed a staff person who seemed to be a manager. I approached him and told him that no one has come to my table for 25 minute. He apologized and said he would send someone right away. Within two minutes, a waitress arrived and took my order. Her name was "Savannah", or, at least that's what the receipt said. She was one of the waitresses that kept on walking by me while I waited. I ordered a cheeseburger with onion rings and a beer. After about 20 minutes, the food arrived. For $20 I thought the burger was kind of on the small size. It was bigger than a slider, but smaller that what I would comfortably call a "burger". There was no lettuce. I was thinking of asking for lettuce, but I was worried it would take another 20 minutes. There were seven pieces of onion rings. Not small, but not substantial either. As for the burger, the patty was on the dry side. There was nothing to write home about. "Savannah" check on me once. After I asked for the check, to her credit, "Savannah" apologized for having kept me waiting. It should be noted, that I was always cordial and pleasant. I never copped an attitude. I tipped her 20%. I think the problem is that she was possibly a new employee. She didn't know what kind of dressing was available for salads. And she may not have known that I was sitting at her table. CONCLUSION: I think you would be better off at McDonald's, which is just down the street. Better wait times, less stress, quality of food is about the same, but far less expensive. read more

The taco as a whole was ok, a little bland, but if you eat the fish by itself with the pickled onions it's sooo much more flavorful...idk how but it was lol. Best time to visit is during Happy Hour from 3-6pm when you can enjoy a 7 Mai Tai or Pina Colada. If cocktails aren't your thing, for $6 you can get house wine, beer and well drinks. For Waikiki, that is a fabulous deal! Since they are located right on Kalakaua, the street that runs parallel with the beach, it's super convenient to stop here after a day of sun and have a refreshing tropical drink. Both the Mai Tai and Pina Colada are great, and that isn't always the case for HH drinks. They do offer a few food items on the HH menu, like fried or grilled fish tacos. I always order mine without the cheese, don't know why they add that because cheese just doesn't work for me on a fish taco. To each their own! Burgers, as the name indicates, are available on the regular menu and they have several varieties. The namesake Cheeseburger in Paradise comes with grilled teriyaki pineapple which adds a sweet touch that I enjoy. Funny because I don't want pineapple anywhere near my pizza! But I'm ok with a slice on my burger, when in Hawaii. My favorite is the steak house burger with ground streak and chuck, topped with sautéed mushrooms, pickled red onion, arugula, tomato and Swiss. All burgers come with fries. For those not in the mood for a burger, they have catch of the day fish, fish tacos, tuna salad wraps, corn dogs and loco moco And even a beyond burger. Some appetizers, too. I've been to Waikiki dozens of times and usually during our stay, someone wants to eat here! The guys love the burgers and the fact that it's right next to the beach. It's a great place for people watching. It's super casual which means no need to go back to the condo and shower and dress, although we sometimes do that, too! Well, the burger was just okay. It was very salty. The cheese on it seemed a bit strange. And I think that coming here felt like a let down. The food and all was okay, but not special. Now, the person who was our server was really nice. So was the table busser. People really seemed to get along and had an easy rapport with customers. The bar was quite busy and they had a lot of traffic in and out. But the burger was a bit meh. I realized that if I had an option to come to this location again, I'd probably decide against it. The one note of salt, on the burger and the cheese, made me grateful that I didn't ask for bacon. Also, there was someone sweeping under the tables and the people to my left left the restaurant. They had a baby with them and there was a ton of food on the floor. No one cleaned up the mess. It was hard to look for. I know that people who are looking for a fast burger (a step above MacDonalds and Burger King - barely) and that's fine. But this place doesn't do it for me. We happened upon this place while walking the main downtown of Waikiki. The vibe is totally friendly and so are the team that works there. Even a hubby and wife- they were awesome and frankly the reason we stopped back by for breakfast the next day. So, I think they hit right around 3.5 stars, but my fiancé loved the place and they lean more towards a better experience, so they get a 4 star. First, location is fantastic. Right on the main drag of Waikiki. We were lucky to get a window table right in front of the restaurant and the open air. We kicked off our dinner with some tropical adult beverages--I tried the Maui Thyme Lemonade and my fiancé got the Planters Punch. For dinner I ordered the Cheeseburger in Paradise with Pineapple (because why not! we're in Hawaii!) and my fiancé ordered the Steak House Cheeseburger, but we ended up splitting our burgers and sharing them--best of both worlds! They were both delicious and the fries were good, too. Service was fantastic and everyone was very friendly. You can definitely see the aloha and Ohana there, which is nice. We really enjoyed our dinner there. They also have a bunch of TVs there, so I would totally go there to watch football on a Sunday, too. Well this place has sure gone down hill! No gluten free bun...well said they ran out so just my luck. So I get a grilled chicken patty cause they didn't know if the turkey burger was gluten free or not cause they didn't have the packaging. Said it would be wrapped in lettuce and it just slices of lettuce so impossible to eat. I got avocado added and it was hard. Everyone else's food ok but not like it used to be. Changed the menu a lot and it's not great. I don't know if I really ever want to return again. Only good thing was the piña colada. Offered to make me another "burger" but declined cause I don't eat much meat and that was enough for me already and it wasn't very good. Glad I didn't have to pay for the burger. I would pay the up charge and get the onion rings instead of the fries. It's not that the fries are bad, the onion rings were just that good. While it is a great fun place for a meal, you pay a little extra for this great experience.
