Stopped by while in town visiting family. I had the sweet potato soufflé cheesecake and my boyfriend got the bananas foster cheesecake. I loved the oat and nut crumble on top of mine but that was really the only standout thing about it. The flavor in the bananas foster slice, however, was phenomenal. Cheesecake by Alex is by far one of my favorite places in Greensboro! I love it so much. I used to go there on at least a biweekly basis when I lived in Greensboro for 2 years. Now everytime I visit I make sure to stop there. They have the best dessert! I have tried over 15 of there cheesecakes and I have loved every single one! Went to pick up a plain New York style cheese cake for a birthday. Walked in and knew we would not be leaving with just one item! My sons got a slice of key lime and the mint chocolate chip cheesecake. I got the Kahlua and my sister got plain New York Style with strawberries. I've been drinking coffee here for years and am quite impressed with the recent expansion and stylish refurbishment. They have very pleasant outside seating too, for when the weather is good and which helps to make this place an asset to downtown Greensboro. I'm a cheesecake purist, have trouble walking past one and the NY slices I've had here in the past have been excellent (chocolate cheesecake is a case of the whole being far less than the sum of its parts, two good things ruined). The staff are friendly, the owners regularly post decadent bakery pictures on social media (and quickly respond to inquiries!), and the cheesecake is INCREDIBLE. I've never been a huge cheesecake fan, but Chef Alex and his team have baptized me into the Holy Church of Espresso Cheesecake. Dear lord, that one is amazing. Actually, EVERY piece of cheesecake I have had here is amazing - from chocolate raspberry to (by some great Miracle) strangely delicious sugar-free cheesecake for those needing to watch their sugar levels. Plus with the remodel, there is now actual room to breathe when standing in line. A definite improvement. So I've been here several times. While I don't eat cheescake I really enjoyed their ginger cookies the first time I went. Loved them so much I've gone back on 3 different occasions for some more. The first two times I came back the cookies were either stale or semi-stale. The last time I had to ask for a taste of the cookie before I purchased it as I felt I had wasted my money the two other times. The past few times I have tried other desserts and honestly I've been a little disappointed by the brownies and the regular cakes. This place is yummy. So far I have had the sweet potato and creme brûlée flavored cheesecakes. The sweet potato cheesecake was good but not my favorite. I prefer to have my sweet potato swirled into the cheesecake as opposed to incorporated into the batter. The creme brulee was legit. Fantastic cheesecakes with great employees. I came in today to get a cheesecake for my sisters birthday and last minute they wrote a message on it for me, later explaining I usually have to do this a few days in advance. The cake was fantastic as was the cupcakes from there. I am very much impressed with the quality of the cheesecake seeing as the price is very fair for a medium sized strawberry and cream cheesecake with Oreo crust (only $18!!). I tried a variety of cheesecake samples on a Taste Carolina food tour. Tasty enough I decided to pick up two slices to bring back home. Some are definitely better than others, texture-wise, which is why it falls a little short of 5 stars for me. Stopped into Cheesecakes by Alex for the first time last night after seeing the recommendations on Yelp!. It was very easy to find and the parking was super convenient. Even though it was a cold, rainy night, this place was still very busy. We didn't have to wait long to order but the inside dining area was full. I had the Bananas Foster cheesecake and it was delicious! It was hard to decide amongst all the choices. The cheesecake is so rich and creamy. I'm not sure I've ever had such good tasting cheesecake and I used to be a Cheesecake Factory junkie.
