I made a last minute decision to dine here and am so delighted as I had an exquisite dinner. Service was impeccable and each dish was delicious and transported me back to Paris. The salad was full of fresh ingredients and so good. The trout was excellent and the creme brûlée decadent. I look forward to going back soon.

A crowded room at Chez Guy. Definitely not 50% occupancy during this pandemic.

Forty five minutes in and we had our drinks but nothing more. One hour and five, we had appetizers. The room is crowded. No masks on patrons. No gloves on servers. But getting down to the food once it came: it was delicious. Perhaps the best duck l'orange Ive ever eaten. Roast chicken was crispy and juicy and a steak frite with shallots as a sweet accompaniment was buttery and cooked to perfection. Giant profiteroles with dark chocolate and a flaky apple tarte rounded out our meal. Hope we don't fall ill.

Celebrated a fabulous evening at this gem eating French onion soup, warm goat cheese salad, and beef Bourguignon! No room for dessert ‼ Next time...

Just what we wanted. Our server was also the bartender and she was excellent. We liked the variety of early dining since some of us wanted to order drinks and appetizers, another wanted to try the summer prefix 3 course option, and another ordered directly from the menu. We found the portions for the happy hour dishes to be adequate, so the table ordered a variety of different options. Each of us loved what we ordered. Egg rolls were accompanied with lettuce, so can eat the dish like a lettuce wrap. The chicken salad was plentiful and tasty. Not your ordinary salad. Dressing was delicious. The ravioli wasn't what she expected but she loved the flavors regardless. The pre-fix was a choice of appetizer, dinner, and dessert. For dinner, our friend ordered the salmon which was perfectly cooked. Portion size was a regular portion and not reduced because it was a prefix. For dessert, the crème brûlée was creamy, and not overly sweet.

Yes it was a perfectly cooked breast and while I was not expecting Peking style the presentation was a wanna-bee without pizzazz. Sea bass very good. Grilled eggplant excellent as was the fried rice. Surprisingly for a restaurant of this caliber they "ran out" of three wines by the glass. Sorry, if you are pretentious enough to have a sommelier the. You should be absolutely able to offer EVERY wine on the menu, be it bottled or by the glass. Not to have a Sancerre! Incroyable. I would return - for lunch. Dinner over $300.

We ordered the paella for four with skirt steak, white asparagus, and saffron rice. The portion size was unbelievable. Not only did it feed us dinner that night, but I enjoyed the leftovers for six meals afterward. The saffron rice was rich and flavorful, the skirt steak was tender, and the white asparagus added a nice touch that made the dish feel special. For dessert, we brought home the Basque cheesecake with fig sauce. It was creamy, rich, and perfectly balanced, with just the right amount of sweetness from the fig sauce. Many people rave about the cheesecake, and after trying it myself, I understand why. It was absolutely delicious. We also picked up a bottle of red and a bottle of white wine for $25 each. Both wines paired beautifully with the food and made our takeout dinner feel a little more special. What impressed me most was how well everything traveled. The food tasted as good at home as it would have in a restaurant, and the generous portions meant we enjoyed El Basque for days. Great food, great value, and a meal that kept on giving. We'll definitely be back.

The crusty French bread was served with authentic rich French butter. The French beet salad with lentils was a classic, bistro-style dish that perfectly balances the earthy sweetness of beets with the peppery bite of firm French green lentils and there was also fennel and rich yummy cheese. She was friendly, attentive and pleasant when we asked to move our table to one a little farther away from the greenery, where a few no-see-ums were pesky. Our water glasses were frequently topped off and it was refreshing to be able to order apps without having to order the entree at the same time. She even brought us cushions as the chairs are a bit deep. BAR: Cosmo was well made, average size, pricey at $22.50. House white was an average pour, reasonable for $12. FOOD: The chicken liver was tasty and cooked perfectly. The onion soup was just ok, $16. It was a bit bland, but the biggest issue was the size and toughness of some of the onions. They were the outer part of the onion and were larger than typical in onion soup. The cheese was flavorful. I would have preferred a half portion, as the app size is huge and soup isn't an app that is easily shared. The Boeuf Bourguignon was flavorful and tender, but again, way too much of it. The accompaniment was scallop potatoes. I'd recommend mashed to make use of the yummy gravy in the bowl. The Veggies were bright and tender, but served in a bowl so challenging to cut up. ATMOSPHERE: It is pretty seating outdoors. The piano player was a really nice touch, adding to the charm. There are no-see-ums, so if you are someone who they seem to target, I'd recommend some type of bug repellent if you are going to sit indoors.

Last couple of years, we have been going to new restaurants in the area with varying results. My niece sent me a gift certificate for Christmas since she remembered when I brought her here with her family. I am glad she did since it reminded me how delicious the food is and how attentive the servers/staff are. We started with appetizers (foil gras and caprese salad). For our main entrees, I ordered the halibut special, and my husband got the seafood risotto. Both were delicious. Though I preferred the Chilean sea bass, the halibut was cooked well (buttery, flaky, etc) and came with lighter sides than the Chilean sea bass. The risotto was creamy with lots of seafood. Very good selection of wines by the glass. Overall, we had a very good meal and a pleasant evening. Since we didn't came here for their early dining specials, the check total was a bit pricey but is within reason for a 5th avenue restaurant. We Will definitely come back again.
