A great find. Being a lover of French cuisine and having had a craving for steak tartare for sometime my wife and I put Chez Guy to the test one lunchtime- we were not disappointed. I had the smaller lunch portion of steak tartare which was served with a well prepared salad, it was excellent. My wife had the quiche of the day with a similar salad accompaniment which she thoroughly enjoyed. This left room for dessert- profiteroles was the choice, do not miss this dessert is all I can say. We look forward to being regulars and our next visit. read more

I call this an opportunity lost. Went here last night with my wife as first time customers in my ongoing quest for a good steak frites meal and I was happy to see I could also get an order of escargot. I was disappointed with the escargot as I thought the garlic butter had an unpleasant taste and I was also disappointed with the steak's red wine and shallots sauce. Both the snails and steak were cooked to perfection and for me a more tasty garlic butter for the escargot and a glop of a simpler béarnaise or buttery Roquefort on the steak would have been preferred. I personally like to dip my frites in the juice from the steak which I couldn't do here. I'm assuming the red wine and shallots sauce was the chef's effort to raise what should be a simple steak frites entree to a higher level and that didn't work for me. Both the garlic butter and steak frites sauce left unpleasant aftertastes. As a side note, my wife thought her salad dressing was too thick, possibly due to a addtion of a thickening agent. On the plus side we chatted briefly with Guy, the chef/owner(?), and was impressed with his friendly manner. We were also impressed with the staff's friendly, professional, timely service. Unfortunately the inside noise level was so high that that our waiter even commented about it. I wasn't expecting a quiet "hear the tinkling of knifes and forks ambiance" but something better than "leaning across the table trying to read lips ambiance" was too loud for me. A few relatively inexpensive noise reducing panels suspended from the ceiling could go a long way to enhancing the dining experience. Based on this one experience we probably won't be back. read more

My wife and I had the pleasure of dining here yesterday. Chez Guy is one of roughly 6 French restaurants worthy of note in the Naples - Ft. Myers corridor. It did not disappoint. The setting is clean, light and relaxed with warm and professional service. Please note that their website menus need update as there are many more treats actually offered on the restaurant menus. A terrine plate of pate provided an excellent starter. The very generously portioned main plats of beef bourguignon and duck confit with white bean cassoulet (both on the menu every day) were quite good and some of the best you will find in this area. A tasty fresh berry melba completed the meal and left us both content and stuffed. Is this Paris? No, but as close as you are going to get in the area. Chef Guy truly cares about his work and his food will leave you feeling warm and reflecting on you next planned trip back to France. We intend to return to both! read more

This is the kind of place that I hesitate to recommend for worry that once it is "discovered", I won't be able to get a table there in the future. After stopping for a great lunch a couple of months ago, we promised we must get back for dinner and it did not disappoint. We had the salmon tartare and foie gras appetizers. The salmon was extremely fresh and very clean, while the foie gras was one of the best we have found in Naples. For mains we had the grouper Madagascar and filet in peppercorn sauce. The grouper was fresh and the sauce was quite tasty. My wife raved about the green beans. The filet was done just right and the sauce was exceptional. The palm frites with the steak were excellent as well; crispy and tasty (they are double fried, but not at all greasy). If there is one area for improvement, I was hoping the bread would be more "French-like", but it was just bread. read more

I've now eaten dinner at Chez Guy perhaps a dozen times over the past year or so and each time it has been a complete pleasure. Very very good food - the Beef Bourginon is to die for (and it's the only red meat I eat!), a friend said it was the best veal she'd ever had, and my husband and I love many of the other entrees and appetizers as well. The service is extremely friendly and professional. Mr. Guy himself always comes out of the kitchen to say hello and see how we are liking our food. We've brought a number of friends there and they have also become repeat customers. It is a comfortable place - not too fancy, not too plain - not pretentious. Highly recommend! read more

We had a lovely meal for five of us last night, artfully prepared by chef and owner Guy Minet. His hospitality and warmth are infectious and we were glad he came out of the kitchen to talk with us. I had his Filet Mignon in a peppercorn sauce that was perfect. The sauce was not overpowering ; it might even benefit from a few peppercorns. Guy had a reack of lamb special that was very good. We had two bowls of his Julia Child Beef Bourguignon, which was tasty but a tad dry. The salmon with sauce vierge, asparagus and rice was well prepared. We found the ambiance quite pleasing since we were celebrating a birthday and were able to hear everyone at the table. This was a nice change of pace from many of the Naples' restaurants. Had a lunch and a dinner on two separate days. The food is very good- bistro type. My husband's cassoulet was excellent and I enjoyed my escargot for dinner. My steak tartare was very good as a quick lunch. Nice choice for an informal lunch or dinner. read more

First off, the whole atmosphere was amazing. The employees are extremely nice and helpful, I asked an abundance of questions about the menu and the waiters seemed engaged. Second, the food was amazing. It was by far the best French style food I have ever had, we even spoke with the chef because we were so blown away. Third, of course, the dessert was amazing. We were so looking forward to dining at a new French restaurant in Naples, but were immediately disappointed by the poor service. It started with a 15 minute wait to get a menu . . Then having to share because they didn't have enough. Only two waiters in the whole restaurant seemed to be the main problem . . And we got the inattentive one! Finally after 35 minutes we received our "small pour" glass of wine. The food was mediocre at best. The filet was the best entree on the menu. The grouper was very rubbery and over cooked. Perhaps our waitress forgot about it, since our meals were delivered almost 1-1/2 hours after arriving. There was never a return to our table to ask if we'd like another drink or even water. I hope if this restaurant lasts til "Season", they realize they need several more waiters . . And attentive ones! Our 2-1/2 hour experience was not a pleasant one. read more

We selected Chez Guy after noticing it was just listed on Restaurant.com. We each ordered diet coke ( served in a can ) and 1/2 Rack of Lamb special ( @$36/entree). Our lamb was requested medium rare, but came out rare. Accompanied by mashed fried potato scallops (very good) and green beans, the Rack was flavored with garlic and Dijon mustard and was tasty. The fun started after we requested our bill. Our server (conveniently) forgot to deduct our $25 discount from the $85+ tab for the two Racks and two sodas (no refills). Worse yet, we saw our tab showed that this simple, storefront restaurant charges $4.50 for a single 12oz can of Diet Coke. WOW! Even the most expensive restaurants in Naples Fl don't charge $4.50 per soda. After I questioned our server about whether the soda charge was for real, she did take off one of the $4.50 charges. However, It took 20 minutes to get a corrected bill. This spoiled our dining experience. read more

First time there this eve. It was a slow night for them but everything was excellent and fresh. The steak tartar was fabulous. Chopped filet (not ground) Just the right amount of seasonings and capers. I normally don't like sauces on steak but my wife's filet was superb! Could have eaten a bowl of it as a thick soup! The escargot was also extremely well prepared. I truly hope they do well. Will definitely go back! read more

In the past month we have had lunch twice and taken guests for dinner twice. The food is excellent. The prices moderate. And even though we have spent our 'Season in Naples' for past 12 years and have over that time, I believe visited most of the 5 star restaurants, I have never had the experience that I had at Chez Guy the other night. I asked the waiter if the mussels with the pesto sauce was available since I had it once before as a special. The waiter said no but he would ask the chef. A few minutes later the chef passed us, scissors in hand and went outside. He came back with a handful of fresh basil and when he past us again he said "pesto"!They were delicious. I am sure the standard mussels with the cream sauce appetizer is great too. This new restaurant is turning into our very favorite. Highly recommend. read more

Had lunch 2.3.2018 and had fresh Branzino from their dinner menu. Just excellent, simply prepared fresh fish. Salads were excellent. Salmon Carpaccio for appetizer. This restaurant is a welcome addition to the area and strongly suggested. Will definitely be back. read more
