Oh my oh my! It's been a really long time since I've had good Thai food from a restaurant. Everything I had was spot on. I went with a group and naturally everything ordered was eaten family style. What we ordered: * Som tum (Thai style): my favorite type is Lao style, but I read the description and it wasn't it. So we went with Thai style and it was good! Not overly sweet, still savory, but light and refreshing. We ordered medium spicy level, but I feel like it wasn't quite "medium spicy". That was fine though because one of my friend doesn't handle spice well. * Roti with yellow curry: curry was standard, roti was flaky, warm, and buttery. * Tom Kha (with seafood): savory, tangy, creamy- but not milky. Highly recommend. * Fried chicken (with sticky rice): came out hot and crispy. Not typical thick American batter-- thin skin and friend onion was a nice touch. Used the sticky rice to eat with papaya salad instead. Picky eater approved. (Son of a friend) * Crab meat fried rice: real crab meat, fried egg on top, fried rice was nicely done. I recommend. ....believe it or not, restaurants do mess up fried rice! ;( * Pad Thai (I did not try this since it looked too saucey and I don't prefer my pad Thai to be too wet. My friend said it was okay.) * Thai tea: perfect ratio of milk to tea. It was solid! Service was nice and they were patient while we tried to figure out what we wanted for a 6 person group + toddler. They also provided a high chair at the table without us asking. Wait time was about 45 mins. Inside is pretty small and they don't have large tables, so they had to wait for a couple tables to clear. They do not take reservations. First come first serve, so be prepared to wait! No private lot, street parking only.
We came with a large party of 8 for a Sunday dinner and arrived at 5pm. They were able to sit us quickly since we were early before the dinner rush. We ordered satay, crying tiger and gyoza for appetizers. For entrees we did family style and ordered the khao so, pad Thai, huac guy, and combo fried rice. The first 2 definitely had a kick to it and made us sweat. The restaurant was definitely small with little air conditioning so we were toasty by the end of dinner. We finished with mango sticky rice and it was delicious. The place definitely is but great for large parties but they managed to fit us in. They also seem to want to flip tables pretty fast and I felt they were rushing us out. All in all people come here for the food and it did not disappoint.
Party of 2 on a Sunday morning. Wait time was about 30 mins at 12NN. Street parking. One of our favorite Thai spots. We got their sampler platter & roti with currry dip for starters. For mains, their Khao Soi is all time. I got it with tofu since we were ordering other protein. So rich, flavorful, and plenty to share. I highly recommend. The midnight chicken (fried chicken wings but huge wings!) was delicious. Came with sticky rice and dipping sauce. Also a generous portion. Food here is so good. Prices are also fair. Again, guilty for always ordering too much. But I want to try it all. Lol. Ate the left overs the next day and it was just as good. Great service. We love this place.
There's been so much to celebrate lately and Chiang Rai was just the place to do it! This trendy Thai food spot is serving up some delicious dishes with a unique twist. We ordered the pad see ew with chicken (my go-to Thai dish), steamed veggies, and their fried enoki mushroom appetizer. If you've read my recent reviews, you know that I'm currently dealing with a mango sticky rice addiction. In the world of MSR, Chiang Rai's was yummy, but I prefer the longer slices of fresh mango, vs. diced. The interior is absolutely adorable and designed to emulate a Thai market space. Each dish has incredible presentation. A must visit spot for dinner!
Michelin-recognized for a reason! Everything we tried here was incredibly flavorful and truly authentic. Definitely reminds me of hole-in-the-walls I've tried in North Thailand. Our group of 3 walked in on a Friday afternoon and were seated immediately, despite the space being brimming with customers. The staff were welcoming and courteous. Interior is homey, had elements of street shop decor (peep the corrugated metal wall) that gave a rustic, industrial vibe :3 There were so many dishes we wanted to try, we opted to just split everything family-style. THAI ICED GREEN TEA: Just the right blend of tea and cream, and not too sweet! So rich and refreshing. FRESH OYSTERS THAI STREET STYLE: Spicy...! Has a kick. Went well with the fried onion topping. PAPAYA SALAD (Laos style): First time trying Laos style! The fermented seafood on top was FANTASTIC. Crisp brininess paired with the fresh papaya was beyond flavorful. I'm typically not a huge fan of crab but the salad dressing infused into the meat won me over. PAD KRA PROW (w/mock chicken): Standard stir-fried veggie/"meat" dish. We just wanted to try the mock chicken-- was a glutinous tofu-like protein, like the kind you get at Buddhist temple lunches. I mentioned to our waitress that it was my friend's birthday, and they graciously brought out a complimentary dish of ice cream with a candle to celebrate...! Very sweet gesture and the ice cream was delicious ;_;
After reading positive raving reviews for Chiang Rai, I had to try.. went for lunch and arrived promptly at 11:30 am - no wait, but by 12, most of restaurant was full. 2 hour Street parking available in the front. Midnight chicken with roti 4/5. I asked for a little side of curry to dip the roti in, and she wanted to charge $6- uh no! Chicken sate 3/5. The chicken was so tough. Pad see ew 5/5- My favorite entree. Khao soi- I ordered medium and it was way too spicy for me 4/5. Server was very prompt - you are limited to 90 minutes on the tables.
Came here on a random weekday and it was still so crowded with a 40-50 minutes wait. No reservation or Yelp wait list available so it's first come first serve. Anyways, we ordered roti with curry sauce, crab curry, and Khao Soi noodle soup with curry sauce and chicken. The roti with curry sauce was good, irresistible, and flavorful, however, I wish the roti was a bit more fluffy and airy. As for the crab curry, I actually thought this was okay in my opinion. It had enough flavors, however, I don't think the sauce was my cup of tea as it was starting to feel a bit overwhelming with the coconut. Lastly, for the Khao Soi noodle soup, I actually thought it was good but definitely not the best dish I've eaten. It's on the lighter side without skipping much of the flavors. Overall, I thought this place was delicious, however, it can be a bit overwhelming with the flavors. The service was okay. The staff were super busy, so it was a bit difficult getting their attention. Street parking in the neighborhood.
Came here after seeing an Instagram reel about it! Came around 12pm on Friday and was easily able to get a seat for 2 people with no wait. We ordered the thai papaya salad, khao soi with beef, thai ice tea, and pork belly with khao soi curry. The food came out extremely fast! The papaya salad was nice and tangy, it came with two pieces of shrimp, definitely could've come with more but it was delicious overall, 7/10. The khao soi was delicious as well, but there was a very small amount of meat for the price and the taste didn't blow me away, 6/10. The pork belly was juicy and crispy! They gave a lot of pork and rice, I think it was worth the price of $25.95, 8/10. The thai ice tea was solid as well. Overall, this place is a bit pricey, we paid $91 for 2 people after tax and tip, but the portion sizes were good, we could barely finish everything. There is minimal parking on the street right outside of the restaurant, but there are side streets to park on.
We put our name down around 7:30 PM on a Friday and were quoted about a 1-hour wait. Luckily, there are plenty of bars and places nearby to walk around while you wait. The Tom Kha soup was amazing--loaded with protein and mushrooms with a rich, flavorful broth. We also ordered two Pad Kee Mao dishes: one medium-spice with shrimp and one very spicy with beef. Surprisingly, the consistency differed between the two. Overall, the Pad Kee Mao was a bit drier and less saucy than I prefer. My personal benchmark for noodle dishes is Bamboo in Redondo, which I still prefer. The Khao Soi was beautifully presented and had a strong, delicious curry flavor. We also tried the mango sticky rice beer, which I really enjoyed. Service could have been better. We were required to place our entire order upfront--including drinks, appetizers, entrées, and dessert--which felt rushed and a bit overwhelming. The staff's tone also came across as less welcoming than expected. Overall, the food was good, but I wouldn't personally wait an hour for it again. There are several other Thai restaurants along the same street.
Chiang Rai is a small, charming restaurant that's clearly popular. We waited about 35 minutes for a table for two, and the dining room stayed busy throughout our visit. The papaya salad was fresh and flavorful, but the spice level was overwhelming. I can usually handle spicy food, but I found myself reaching for water constantly. The heat came from large pieces of bird's eye chili that were concentrated in certain bites. I think the dish would have been more balanced if the spice had been distributed more evenly. We also ordered the roti with curry sauce. The curry was flavorful, though the roti was a bit oily for my preference. The beef tartare was heavily cured and seasoned. While interesting, I would have preferred more of the natural flavor of the beef to come through. Overall, a solid meal with some standout flavors, though a few dishes didn't quite align with my personal preferences
First time trying Chiang Rai Thai Street Food, and it definitely lived up to the hype! Every time I drove by on my way home, I saw people waiting outside, especially on weekends, so I knew I had to give it a try. We ordered the Crying Tiger, fried chicken wings with curry dip and roti, and papaya salad, and every dish was outstanding. The Crying Tiger was tender, juicy, and packed with flavor. The chicken wings were crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, and paired perfectly with the rich, flavorful curry dip and warm, flaky roti. The papaya salad was fresh, crunchy, and had just the right balance of sweet, sour, spicy, and savory flavors. The service was friendly, the food came out quickly, and I can absolutely see why this place is always busy. Everything was delicious, and I'll definitely be back to try more from the menu. Highly recommend! I ordered for pick up, fast and convenient.
I found this spot with my mom by chance. We were at Armstrong Garden and wanted something to eat and this showed up on Yelp. The food from the photos looked amazing so we thought this would be a good place to try. We entered and it is quite small. Expect to have a bit of a wait during rush hour. Lucky for us it was just us two, and it was towards the end of lunch. The inside looked super cute and the aesthetic reminded me of the Philippines. They had these cool lanterns, and metal soda signs in Thai. Plus umbrellas below the ceiling. The menu looked really cool, like it was from a newspaper that is colored. The plates had roosters on it. I loved the ambiance for sure. We saw a couple order a few things I asked what they had ordered. One was grilled pork neck and they suggested the Tom Yum Mama Seafood soup and for dessert mango and sticky rice. I also got green thai tea for drink. We got it all mild because my spice tolerant isn't as good as it use to me, and my mom usually tolerates mild as well in regards to spice. The presentation of the food is great. The Soup was so delicious! I'll definitely order again. It had noodles, like thin ramen. The seafood was delicious with the crunchy pork. It blended so well. I love that the soup was sour and spicy. The pork neck was a bit too spicy, and so I believe they might have not prepared it mild. It was a bit difficult to eat because of it, but still really good. The mango and sticky rice is delicious as well. Perfectly made. I will definitely come back here.
This spot has been trending for a while and I completely understand why. First off, there will be a wait so it's best to go during off times. Once you're in though, the wait becomes worth it. Everything has big shareable portions including the apps. The dishes are all super flavorful and cooked perfectly. I'm basic but my favorite was the pad Thai. The noodles were cooked exactly where they should be (not over but not under) and the flavor was just perfect. The tom kha was also surprisingly yummy. I'm not usually the type to get soup at Thai but I really enjoyed how well each flavor balanced out. Would definitely come back!
Everyone always gets the khao sai with soft crab which we got too and it was thick + flavorful but very lackluster compared to the underrated tom yum soup. Which was soooo good that we couldn't stop sipping in between dishes. Classic apps to get are the curry w roti, papaya salad, and chicken wings. The drinks were normal but presented very well. First time at Chiang Rai - Thai Street Food. Plenty of street parking. Smaller location and is packed. Even though it was called street food - it was so much more than that. The food quality was top tier. Well balanced and delicious. Roti - flaky, crispy with a layer of chewiness. Paired with a yellow curry sauce. So good. Crying Tiger - it was cooked medium rare and came with a homemade chili sauce. We had to get the Khao Soi. Northern Thai curry noodles served with wet noodles and crispy fried noodles. We got ours with chicken. Everything was good with the dish except for the dried chicken. Steamed Branzino - served whole. Very good. You can taste the delicate flavors. We finished it off with the old school Pang Pang comprised of coconut ice cream on top of a sweet bread (think King Hawaiian) with condensed milk then cashew and coconut jelly on top. 6/6/25. This was my second time dining at Chiang Rai. Things we love to order are the following: Crying Tiger- very delicious steak and a tasty dipping sauce that is mild in heat Khao Soi with ribeye- a curry like soup with noodles and thinly sliced ribeye reminiscent to pho. We ordered the mild version which I thought was perfect for my can't take the heat taste buds. Issan Sausage- this was very good. it had a nice tangy flavor with a crisp to it. Roti Combo with chicken wings- the wings were flavorful and had a nice crisp to it. It came with a bowl of curry that was sweet to dip your roti in. The Roti itself however was very oily which I was aware of ahead of time from other reviews. I liked it but I also have a sensitive stomach to oily things so I don't think I can eat this dish often. Service was great. Restaurant is clean. Staff is friendly. Parking is street only and can get packed. I would recommend calling ahead of time for reservations and it is a very popular place and can get busy. read more
I visited Chiang Rai for a quick dinner, and since it is located right by a residential area, street parking is available. I got there right when they opened up for dinner and was able to find a parking spot nearby. I enjoyed the colorful and trendy aesthetic upon entering. For this visit I ordered their Wagyu Boat Noodle. Visiting from San Bernandino County, I haven't been able to find a lot of thai establishments near my place that serves boat noodles, so I always love ordering it when I get a chance. The broth had really good flavor, and this one dish was plentiful to keep me full fo a while. I wanted to try other items, but I would have to come back to continue exploring the many items they offer here. Service was attentive and effecient as well. read more

I finally tried Chiang Rai, and their Khao Soi with chicken completely lived up to the hype. The broth is rich, fragrant, and perfectly spiced, and the chicken is tender and flavorful. Every bite was a perfect balance of creamy coconut, savory curry, and a hint of heat. The service was friendly, and the vibe was very lively. This was easily one of the best Khao Soi dishes I've had. Tl;dr: This place is worth eating at despite long wait times. I came on a Sunday night around 7 pm and had to wait about 40 minutes for my party of 4 to be seated. We ordered the Chiang Rai Platter and Roti with Yellow Curry for appetizers, and I ordered the Khao Soi with Sai Yao (a Thai sausage). Despite the full house, our party didn't need to wait long for our food to arrive. Chiang Rai Platter, 2.5/5: Presentation wise, it looks beautiful. The vegatables and flower added some vibrant colors to the otherwise dull brown fried foods. I only got to taste the crab cheese wonton and egg rolls due to splitting with 3 friends. The wonton was stuffed full of cream cheese, but I didn't really taste the crab. While I wasn't a fan of the batter, it still has a nice crunch. The egg rolls was stuffed with assorted veggies and tasted decent. Overall, the platter was not bad, but I do think it is not worth the price. Roti with Yellow Curry, 5/5: What an amazing dish. The curry goes down so smoothly while bombarding your tongue with aromatics and a bit of heat. The roti meanwhile was soft, buttery, and fluffy, and it reminded me of a good Chinese green onion pancake. I would definitely order this again. Khao Soi, 5/5: Like the yellow curry above, the Khao Soi's curry was condensed with aromatic spices. But with the lime and coconut milk, this curry was also sweet and tangy. I got medium spice, and the good amount of heat kept stimulating my appetite to eat more. The egg noodles were chewy and absorbed much of the curry. The Sai Uao was a wonderful mix of nutty, sweet, savory, and a little bit of herbs and spicy. The portion size was also impressive and I took the curry home to enjoy. read more

After a considerable wait of more than 40 minutes, hubby and I were pleased to be seated for a Northern Thai dinner on Saturday night. The food was truly exceptional, and it is clear why this restaurant has been recognized by Michelin for four years running. I was craving some Thai food for our date night and wanted to try Chang Rai since it was Michelin guide. The inside was nicely decorated with the atmosphere feeling like you're in the streets of Thailand. The service: The lady that served us tonight was so attentive and really helped us with all our needs! The food: We ordered the Fried Gyoza, Midnight Chicken with Roti, Beef Yellow Curry, and Pad See Ew with Crispy Pork. Fried gyoza 3/5 : nothing special pretty good Midnight Chicken w/ Roti 3/5 : I was expecting more tbh. The chicken was nice and crispy. The Roti was really good. However, I find that the dish lacked flavor. It was bland and heavily relied on a dipping sauce. Would not get again. Beef Yellow Curry 4/5 : This dish was actually pretty good. Curry was flavorful, it wasn't too watery. It was also pretty good serving size! Pad See Ew w/ Crispy Pork 4/5 : I was going to give this a 5 but had to take away points for being dry! I liked how the noodles tasted and how the noodles werent soggy. The only reason I took a point away was that it was very dry! The crispy pork I believe was extra but it was really good combined with this dish! Next time, I will ask for extra sauce when ordering. Overall, I would give this place another try but order the Khao Soi as it is their main star! read more

This place is as good as everyone says. The food was delicious and service was great. They close from 230-4pm but I didn't know and I arrived at 2pm and they will provided great service to me. Not pictured but I also ordered crab curry. The soft shelled crab was amazing. I probably would not recommend both crab curry and Khao soi together since both are very heavy dishes. Roti combo was a great appetizer. Chicken satay was alright- I like that they use almond instead of peanut. They told me they are a peanut-free restaurant which is great. I will definitely be back to try other dishes. FYI parking was tough so give yourself some time if going during peak meal times. read more

This was our first time at Chiang Rai in LB. Parking was a bit hard to find. Our favorite dish was the Tom Kha soup -- really flavorful. The Khao Soi, though, just wasn't for me; it was a bit too thick and salty for my taste. The chicken and roti were nothing too special. I'd only recommend this place if you're in the area, and maybe try some of their other dishes instead. read more

I had initially thought that this place was overhyped, but not after I tried the food. The place is small and on the corner of the block and there is a long wait even on a week night, we waited about 40-50 minutes after putting our names down for a table for 2. It was packed inside, and full of Thai decorations on the walls. Started with roti with curry sauce as the appetizer, and it was very tasty, with the roti being crispy, but especially the sauce being packed full of flavor. I wish I could take a bottle home to just eat with bread. Next was the crab curry, which was also full of flavor. It is a soft shell crab that can be eaten whole, and you can taste the crab flavor within the curry itself, without taking anything away from the crab meat either. A unique dish that isn't offered in most Thai restaurants in my experience, and definitely worth a try here. Also had a Khao Soi noodle soup with curry sauce and chicken, and this was not my favorite, but a good lighter dish for those who are not fans of heavier sauces. All in all this is one of the better Thai food restaurants in the LA area, worth coming back! read more

This was my first visit to Chiang Rai and definitely a great choice for a casual lunch. The Pad See Ew had great flavor and perfectly cooked noodles, while the Som Tum had nice kick but balanced and refreshing. The Crying Tiger was another highlight; the beef was tender. One of my personal favorites was the Pad Kra Prow Eggplant which was cooked perfectly with a tasty, savory sauce. The Roti Combo, especially the yellow curry, was full of flavor. Updated review - Tonight we went in!!! Loved it. Parking was available on street, but we had no problem at 6:30pm on Friday night. Good sign for a restaurant already a few people standing outside waiting for tables. We were the fifth in their on-line system, restaurant is small. We decided to wait for 20 minutes and that's exactly how long it took for our table. Restaurant is super cute inside, I loved how colorful it is. We checked our order with server. She said Roti & Curry was very popular appetizer. It was delicious and much better in restaurant than waiting for delivery. We also ordered the Khao Soi Curry noodle with Spicy pork Sausage. It was amazing, very flavorful. Pad Kra Pow (Spicy Thai basil with Chicken) was great. This is one of my favorite Thai dishes. We asked for medium spicy. Ordered a Thai tea it was on the sweeter end. The sweet roti was good but very oily. The chicken skewers were good. Portions were shareable. Price to taste was okay. This has been on my list of places to try for a long time, i picked this location over the Tustin one because it had more reviews. I was able to queue up on May 30th to see what the hype was about. The place is somewhat small and the queues are long. Even if you're the next in line with a party of one, you're stuck debating to stand outside with everyone else hoping not to get skipped if you parked too far. Either way, expect a wait of 30 minutes or more. Once you are seated, the server is polite and attentive throughout the process. The ambiance and decor is inviting but def has a Sunday brunch with the girls sipping mimosas vibe. This is the first time I've seen people drink champagne with their pad Thai. I'm not against it but def wasn't expecting that. The khao soi is served with a tender white meat but still dry, they do not have dark meat nor drumsticks. They give you more wonton chips above the soup than the noodles below it, and is somewhat distracting. I have to remove the chips so it doesn't get soggy in the soup. It's nice to have a crunchy texture, with soup, meat and noodles. The flavor is good and I made sure to get it with a side of white rice just so I can pour the left over soup on it once the noodles are consumed. The Thai tea was good and overall the experience was ok but it didn't live up to the hype. Im sure they have other great dishes but With so many different Thai restaurants nearby and along my drive to this place, I don't see myself coming back unless there's no lines, if there's amble parking available and if I'm passing by. Overall the food isn't enough for you to make the trek from the OC to here, just go to the Tustin one if u r closer read more

Went for sunday dinner -- waited for maybe 20-30 mins to get seated we wanted to try the khao soi bc it was all our first time, it was good (i'm not a HUGE curry fan but my boyfriend really liked it). I liked the texture with the crispy noodles and sourness of the soup. LOVED the midnight chicken -- the roti was pretty greasy but i loved the flavor of the chicken, the little fried bits of shallot(?) and the sweet sauce worked really well with the rest of the dish the spicy thai fried rice was also really delicious, loved it especially with the green chilies they have at each table read more

Love coming to Chiang Rai for authentic Northern Thai food! The menu is large so I get some dishes that I love every time but also try new menu items each visit. Some items I get almost every visit is the papaya salad, khao soi noodle soup, and midnight chicken. This visit, I added green curry, thai fried rice, and pad thai stir-fried noodle. For drinks, got the thai iced green tea which I enjoy more than the thai ice tea, however the thai ice green tea can be quite sweet so I started asking for more milk to make the drink less sweet. I've wanted to try Chiang Rai was for so long and when I heard they had opened a second location, I thought the original location might be less busy. I was definitely wrong...the restaurant had people lining up before they even opened on the weekend. Luckily, we were able to get a table pretty easily. Everything we ordered was solid, but my personal favorite was the yellow curry and roti. I feel like there are so many good Thai restaurants popping up everywhere that it's getting hard for me to tell which has the best khao soi. Chiang Rai's was good, but I think the standout is the roti. I'd definitely come back if I was in the area. read more

i really wanted khao soi, but it's not vegetarian here (fish sauce in the powder). i got the spicy mama because i wanted to try something that wasn't pad thai. i thought the flavor was great and i quite enjoyed the tofu. the noodles were too oily for me, but they were cooked well. i wish there were more veggies!! i would come back because there are so many items on the menu that seem yummy! service was great and food came out quickly. we came on a weekday around 1pm and the restaurant was completely full! read more

We came here around 6 PM with a pretty large group. There's no dedicated parking lot, but there was plenty of street parking across the street. Even though the restaurant isn't very big and our group was huge, we only waited about 10 minutes before being seated, which was a pleasant surprise. One of the best and recommended places for Northern Thai food. I can see why the lines are so long outside. Their meals are so fresh and crisp. The overall vibe of this place is heartwarming, they have so many different food options on their colorful menu and I can't wait to come back to try more. The only downside is that this place is so popular so their waitlist takes about an hour until you're seated. Parking: There's no established parking lot, only parking at the front of the store or side street parking. Portion is on the bigger side. So if you can eat, you can finish one dish. I wouldn't recommend ordering more than what you can handle. Crab curry: It's a soft shell crab in yellow curry. My favorite dish between the two was ordered because the crab has a light to medium batter coating and crunch. I don't know how they do it, but the crab still retained its crispiness after it was sitting in the bowl for 5 minutes. Khao Soi Noodle Soup (Medium Spice): Egg noodles in Khao Soi curry. Khao Soi curry is made up of coconut milk mixed with curry spices. It's a light broth even though it's made with coconut milk. If you're a spicy eater then their medium spice is like eating Shin ramen noodles, it just has a slight kick at the end. The soup was very full in flavor not salty, so I had to keep grabbing my water cup because the flavor was overwhelming me a lot. Thai Iced Green Tea: Tastes more like green tea than Thai tea. The drink is more milky than caffeinated. Beer Large (Singha): Light carbonated beer drink. It's an Asian beer so it's slightly less bitter earthy compared to American beer. I would recommend it if you want a refreshing carbonated drink to pair with something fried. read more
I ordered the medium spicy pineapple chicken curry. So delicious!! Flavor gallore!! Ambiance is casual & chill. The service was just "ok". I'm really big on customer service & efficiency! Your hardly checked on. The workers are busy, I get it. Still no excuse. I asked for napkins. The waitress forgot because she was too busy chatting in the back. I love their wagyu soup so much but it did have a stew consistency rather than a soupy one. + it's also darker so it might be on the "bloodier side" but I think next time I'll opt out for the beef soup instead! The food was so good. We had crispy rotti & yellow curry for appetizer, wagyu soup for the meal, & pang pang ice cream for dessert. Lunchtime to celebrate a coworker transferring to another location. Six of us at noon were accommodated although we had reservations. One person arrived early and put our orders in. We ordered from the Khao Soi series, with Ribeye and chicken, Thai fried rice chicken and Satay chicken , the food didn't disappoint. I personally ordered the Dry Khao Soi with chicken. This was my first time and I didn't want soup. Once my coworkers received their Khao Soi "soup" , it wasn't like the soup I was thinking. I requested to re-make my order or just give me a side of broth, there would be an additional charge for both. I declined. My coworkers generously shared their broth with me to saturate my dry noodles. The flavor of the broth elevated my dish!! Sunny the server even brought me over a small bowl of the broth. Love this place! Just moved to Long Beach last year and this is one of our favorite restaurants--it lives up to the hype. The ambience is bright and authentic. Our favorite dishes are the Roti with Yellow Curry, Fried Gyoza, Pineapple Fried Rice, Pad See Ew, Wonton Soup, and Panang Curry with chicken. Their Thai tea is also very good. There's a good amount of tables, but prepare to wait if it's a weekend or near dinner time! read more

Chiang Rai is an absolute must in Long Beach. I bring all of my friends from out of town here to show them how good the food in LBC is. I love the Khao Soi. It has such a depth of flavor and the egg noodles are perfect. I've only had it with the sausage, but I'm sure all the other proteins are great. 8/10 The Chiang Rai larb is dryer than typical larb, and they warn you about that so you aren't expecting traditional larb, but my friend and I absolutely love it. The meat is so well seasoned, it feels like such a great light option to offset the heaviness of the Khao soi and curry and roti 9/10 We tried to order the chicken with yellow curry and roti dish, but our server misheard us and only brought out the midnight chicken so we had to order another side of yellow curry and roti. I will say, the midnight chicken needs the yellow curry. The chicken alone is ok, it's solid, but just the midnight chicken I would give a 7/10. It really is so much better with the yellow curry and roti. I would always recommend getting the chicken and yellow curry roti option. The yellow curry and roti is absolutely delectable. The roti is so delicious itself. 9.5/10 for flavor. They are a very small restaurant, so seating is very limited. There is almost always a line, but they got our party seated faster than what they told us the wait would be. But I didn't appreciate our service this time. I've been plenty of times and received great service so I won't knock them for an off night. But my friends and I were talking for just 5 minutes after we paid the bill and boxed our leftovers, we were going to leave soon, especially since we are aware of limited seating in there, but our server came over and hurriedly told us to leave to make room for the next guests. It genuinely had only been 5 minutes. And she had gotten our order wrong with the midnight chicken as I mentioned earlier, but we didn't make a fuss, we just ordered the yellow curry separately. Chiang Rai was full even on a weeknight...it did not disappoint! Started with a roti + yellow curry & fried chicken starter. Both were delicious, I would come back just for the fried chicken alone.... Mains were Tom Kha chicken & Dry Khao Soi - something special and not found at other Thai spots. Came here on the recommendation of some coworkers and friends, and it was absolutely worth the hype. Ordered the khao soi with chicken and it felt like a hug in liquid form. The spicy had just the right kick, the chicken was tender and flavorful, and the noodles had just the right texture to tie it all together. For a Wednesday night, we were seated within 5 minutes and service was friendly and attentive. Lots of fun decor inside and plenty of booth/table seating. Can't wait to come back and explore more of the menu! read more

They don't do reservations. It's first come, first serve. You can put your name on the list. We arrived around 5pm last Saturday and waited a little over an hour for a party of 4. Parking is street only and limited so the earlier you go, the better…

No, just arrive about an hour earlier than you expect to eat to be safe on the weekends arrive 3hours early

I don't think there's a lot. It isn't specified in a section of the menu, but it will depend on what items you choose. They do have a variety, and I think they would be willing to "customize" some items!
