I got the black tea with mousse and boba, regular ice and regular sugar, and it was SO good. My friend got the passion fruit green tea and it was super refreshing and really well balanced, not overly sweet or artificial tasting. We actually went back and got the bubble milk tea too because they were handing out samples and it was also so good. Easily the best milk tea and fruit tea spot on Sawtelle right now. We got our drinks in under 20 minutes. Staff were friendly, offered samples, took our order quickly, and overall the service was great. Yes, it's a little pricey, but honestly worth it. Great drinks, friendly staff, clean store, efficient service. My favorite boba place on the street :)

New location in Sawtelle with small surface lot (parking time limited here) and garage in the lower level. Interiors beautiful with a nice aroma of tea as well as some small tables outside space right next to Alfred's. Went Saturday evening and there was only a small line (1-2 people before me) and you can either choose to order from the register or a touchscreen. Drink came out relatively quickly - I'd say within 5 minutes. Price is a bit steep though even for boba and price. I got the creamy lemon tart drink -- nice contrast between the cream top and the lemon tea. I usually have to adjust the sweetness for drinks but didn't this time and didn't think the sweetness was too overwhelming because of the nice balance from lemon tartness! Would come back but probably not often because of the price!

Parking: Underground garage 30 min free with validation Service: Cashier gave samples of cream milk tea and answered questions, drinks came out timely, photo machine was sadly not working Ambiance: Thankfully no line on a Monday at 4pm and plenty of table seating available, modern and light interior Drinks: Green milk tea with boba, light sugar, and no ice had good tea flavor and boba had sweetness so light sugar was perfect; texture of tapioca was chewy but not too soft or firm Green tea with honey and boba, light sugar, and no ice - slightly prefer this one for the pure tea flavor and touch of sweetness from honey though if they could do a honey green milk tea that would be best

Sooo happy a high quality boba shop has opened in West LA. I've tried their other locations and they never fail me. Happy to say that the Sawtelle location delivered as well! The green milk tea with bubble is a must. They use cream instead of milk to give it a richer texture. I came when it opened on a weekday, but there were other people that came to. Def a popular spot.

Right off the bat I have to say the service here was incredible. The workers were very friendly and gave great descriptions of the tea choices and we were even given samples. I ordered the osmanthus oolong tea with milk and boba. I liked the drink, it was good, but it wasn't mind blowing. And after waiting in line 30 minutes, and paying a whopping $9.06 for the drink, I just wasn't as impressed as I hoped to be. Don't get me wrong, it was a good drink. But it wasn't $9 good. I did really like the boba here. Perfectly chewy with the right hint of sweetness! :) Overall I had a good experience here, and I recommend trying it at least once!

Drinks: Only tried a few of their drinks, but the Bubble Volcano, Taro Milk Tea and Honey Osmanthus Oolong Tea were solid--not too sweet and the flavors were subtle but present. Service: Greeted with a short line on an early Sunday afternoon, which quickly ballooned, but drinks were made ready fast. Ambiance: Casual, modern, minimalist. Few tables available. Parking: Limited parking. However, there's an adjacent garage for a fee, and there's also metered street parking.

The lines can get very long but the staff works to keep things moving at a fairly quick pace! Originally from Taiwan started in 1998 and they use quality ingredients! Absolutely love that we have a location on the west side, quite dangerous as it's close by and I want it daily! The quality is incredible and they make each drink to order! When at the register they gave a sampler, which they rotate what they give out daily. Tried a sampler last time which was better than I had expected and so I'll be ordering that the next time I go. Overall lovely aesthetic space! They do have limited seating options inside. There's also limited underground parking and they also have street parking close by!

Am a fan of quality tea and of Chicha San Chen's teas, but most locations are rough for me because there's not much seating and they're super slow. This one, at least on first visit, has a small but reasonable bit of seating inside, more seating outside (bring a wipe tho, seating outside is shared with a coffee shop and several other businesses so it gets busy), and isn't too slow with drinks. Note that drink sizes here are reasonable and not large... forgot to check if they offer a large size. Decor is concrete-cute-industrial, a bit more industrial than some other Chicha San Chen locations, and service is friendly. Very solid addition to Sawtelle if you don't mind paying a significant premium for your milk tea or fruit tea, added bonus that they're in a plaza that actually has parking.

This place is not overrated!! if you're a fan of tea, it's a must visit. even if the line may seem daunting , the staff is extremely efficient and works very quickly :) I appreciate their hard work. Brandon was very kind and explained the menu to me when i had some questions The smell when you step in is absolutely delicious , my all time favorite is the mango tart but you really can't go wrong with any of the options. !!

I regularly travel to Sawtelle and realized a chicha san chen opened up. I ordered my go to drink, a mango green tea with no toppings. The line moved surprisingly fast and I got my drink within 5 minutes of lining up and waiting. The drink tastes the same as every other chicha san chen that I've visited. Still just as good.

Seriously some of the best teas. Recently just opened on the west side and it's in a perfect area with plenty of eateries so you can either have a pre meal or dessert drink. Some of the popular choices that even won awards are: High mountain pouchong tea Ding dong oolong For this visit and that gave a sample and won me over is the green tea and mango, less sweet and with boba. The boba texture. Divine. Although I haven't been to many locations and I've only gone to the SGV location twice during covid but the staff here is so friendly. From walking in, sat the counter and even to the owner. It shows that they enjoy working there. Fun fact and probably a secret is they really use filtered water. That should have been a given but that is what probably what lets the tea flavor shine. Congratulations on the new location and great to me that I can enjoy great tea more often.

Checked out this new boba spot today. Their drink is very tasty but if you don't like too sweet be sure to adjust when you're ordering. I really love the boba flavor and texture were perfect! We waited about 15-20 minutes all in all, waiting in line and getting the drinks. They had some seating inside, but also outside there are shared seating with the other store fronts. My son enjoyed the little decor they had and took a little photo on their instant Photo Booth.

Newest boba place on Sawtelle Drinks: - Creamy Lemon Tart: delicious creamy mouse with lime zest, and High Mountain Pouchong tea. Overall the most unique and best drink I've had a Chicha, similar to a tart lemonade with tea - Taro milk tea: taro balls are QQ and the taro flavor is starchy, but not too strong Service and Ambiance: - I typically avoid going to Chichas because of the extensive lines and long waits for your drink (30+ min) however, this Chicha has the shortest wait for our drinks (less than 10 min)! - Cashiers and managers were friendly and informative - Open space, only a couple tables inside and more small tables outside to sit

We've had a couple of the tea drinks before when they were at Smorgasburg recently and really enjoyed those. We were in the area and decided to drop by on a whim. We didn't have reservations, but wanted to check if there was space available. When we walked in around 8:20pm, there was only one employee behind the bar, speaking to someone that was at the bar (possibly an employee who was off the clock). Two more parties walked in behind us and after 5ish minutes, the employee behind the bar seated all of us. We were given menus when seated. Then after about 5 minutes, were given water and a bowl of popcorn, but no mention about putting in orders. There was another employee who seemed like a server, that would appear and disappear, walked around with a tablet, and took selfies with the person at the bar (off-the-clock employee?). He seemed to LOOK busy, but not sure with what. It seemed like they were understaffed for a weekend, and not really efficient. It seemed as though the bar employee was doing multiple tasks (seating, serving, and bartending). I can understand and have empathy for being understaffed, but cannot deal with not being acknowledged for 20-30 minutes despite making eye contact with both employees, especially when I feel like the server was not doing enough. I walked up to the bar area to try to put an order in, but what pushed us over the edge was seeing the party that just walked in get their order taken immediately. This is the first time I, and the other 2 people in my party, felt the need to get up and leave an establishment. If someone had come over and just mentioned that they're understaffed, or that they're a bit backed up, or just acknowledged us in any way, we would've appreciated it and been more okay with waiting around. I'm disappointed that we had such a negative experience considering that I've been looking forward to trying the night menu, and wanting to support a local business. However, I'm hoping that this will help the owners/ managers reevaluate their staffing and service. Not sure if I'll want to try coming back again.

The tea is given to you in a teeny tiny cup, so you'll need to get up a lot to go get your refill and money's worth. Then you're worried some vulture will swoop in and take your spot. Looking around, I can see it's a very profitable place for them seeing as it's $50 a head for a pretty mid experience. This place is literally the definition of looks can be deceiving. It looks beautiful, spacious, and enticing on instagram but it's small and weird. If you're claustrophobic or easily grossed out, spare yourself. Oh, and if you have to go to the bathroom you'll have to go do that barefoot, too. It's also in a super sketch area so if you aren't lucky enough to get parking right out front then good luck.
