They have a QR code menu outside where the line forms which made it easy to look over options while waiting. The cashier, Jess, was friendly and super sweet. I had a great time trying out CHICHA San Chen in Sawtelle! :D My sister and I went tonight and the first thing we walked into was a tea tasting bar. Here we were greeted by Aaron who eagerly explained to us the differences between the five roasts of oolong tea leaves they had from Taiwan. He was very careful in ensuring that each tea was made with 3g of leaves and 6 minutes of boiling the tea. It was a wonderful experience; we were able to appreciate each of the different teas fully :) Then we went to go place our orders. We ordered: green tea with cream, high mountain with milk and boba, and dong ding oolong with milk and boba. My favorite was the green tea with cream (perfect sugar and less ice) - really great tea flavor and just the right amount of sweetness. My sister's favorite was dong ding oolong; I could taste a darker roast in this for sure. For the high mountain, it's a creamy taste! All of them are great, and I liked how we were able to get a preview of the high mountain leaves with smell. I am excited to try more of their flavors in the future! Service was great despite how busy it was. Everyone was very sweet to talk to and ecstatic about the opening. :) It's a cute little shop that extends in. Great addition to Sawtelle. Their drinks are so unique and high quality. I love the creamy lemon tart and the orange lemon pouchong tea. They're both so refreshing. The service is great. I've been drinking chi cha san chen since it first opened years ago in San Gabriel. I usually get the tea latte but in sawtelle I've been trying the fruit flavored drinks. I like the customization aspect. The fruit doesn't taste fake and the tea flavor is prominent which I like. The service is fast despite there usually being quite a line. There is hardly any seating inside however you can easily wait outside. There's also a photobooth that you can play with which is fun which adds to the ambiance. read more

Nice staff, but I think the drinks themselves are overrated. The price for the amount you get isn't worth it, you have to pay extra money to add milk and toppings. Toppings I understand, but kinda wild you need to pay extra for milk for a boba drink (which by default at other places, comes with milk). Am a fan of quality tea and of Chicha San Chen's teas, but most locations are rough for me because there's not much seating and they're super slow. This one, at least on first visit, has a small but reasonable bit of seating inside, more seating outside (bring a wipe tho, seating outside is shared with a coffee shop and several other businesses so it gets busy), and isn't too slow with drinks. Note that drink sizes here are reasonable and not large... forgot to check if they offer a large size. Decor is concrete-cute-industrial, a bit more industrial than some other Chicha San Chen locations, and service is friendly. Very solid addition to Sawtelle if you don't mind paying a significant premium for your milk tea or fruit tea, added bonus that they're in a plaza that actually has parking. read more

Lately, I've been obsessed with their new taro series -- I love that I can enjoy their classic bubble milk tea together with the creamy taro paste inside. I'm so happy they finally opened at this location since it's a bit closer to my house compared to driving all the way to Alhambra or San Gabriel. Great boba texture, just the right amount of sweetness and ice! Because they make everything to order, it takes awhile for you to get your drink but it's all well worth it. Newly opened about a month ago. Went on a Sunday afternoon around 1:30pm and the line wasn't too long - maybe 10-15 min wait. There KING is here! After many long trips to the 626, we are happy to finally have Chicha San Chen on the Westside! We drove by tonight at 11:15pm on our way home. We happened to see the lights on a big crowd still inside, so we parked real quick and went to see if they were still open. They weren't, they closed at 11:00pm. But we looked to see if they had their store hours posted on the door, and we were greated at the door by Johnny. He was super friendly and invited us to come in and get some drinks. We felt bad because the crowd we saw inside was their huge staff cleaning up, but he insisted we come in after we started to talk with him outside. Most of his staff had been there since they opened at 10:00am and worked through massive crowds of customers throughout the entire day. I'm not joking or exaggerating, every singe employee in the store was still energetic and in a great mood, and more than happy to whip us up 2 drinks.
