Chick-fil-a in general ------------------------------------- Chick-fil-a is a great restaurant. Their food is generally much less bad for you than similar fast food alternatives. As other reviewers mentioned, they have waffle fries which are cut from the potatoes without peeling them which makes them much better for you than normal fries. They claim to have invented the chicken sandwich (I don't know if this is true) and it is probably among the most popular items on the menu, but I always get the chicken nuggets or chicken strips. It might have changed with the "new recipe" they promoted for their strips, but it used to be that the nuggets had a bit more spice to them than the strips. Now they might use the same breading, I'm not sure. They have chicken salad sandwiches now, but they're pre-made and I didn't care for it. You can get salads, including one which comes with chicken strips that are packed separately. As an alternative to fries, they offer fruit cups which aren't bad. They are mostly apple chunks, but include grapes, orange, and strawberry. They appear to be cut fresh so are good quality. They offer a pretty good chicken noodle soup, and coleslaw that I haven't tried. They have a variety of dipping sauces for the chicken. The one already mentioned was Polynesian, basically a sweet and sour sauce. They also have BBQ, honey mustard, buttermilk ranch, and one called Chick-fil-a sauce which is a honey bbq sauce I think. I don't know if it has always existed or if it's a new sauce flavor they're trying out. I don't care for it, but others do. For dessert they offer soft serve ice cream cones which I haven't tried, cheesecake that I tried once on "cheesecake day" when they were giving it away (it was ok), and brownies which are somewhat dense cakey brownies with frosting which aren't my thing, but a friend really likes them. My favorite is their "hand spun" milkshakes, particularly the cookies and cream one. They have seasonal ones including mint chocolate chip, latte, and currently offer chocolate peppermint which I haven't tried. For breakfast they offer a variety of sandwiches that I haven't tried, cinnamon rolls which didn't do much for me, and the best thing is their chicken minis which are their chicken nuggets wrapped in a doughy roll with a sweet buttery taste. They're excellent! You can get fries, but by default they offer mini homefries in the form of deep fried round pellets of minced potato. They're not bad, but the fries are better. For drinks they offer the standard soft drink fare plus regular and diet lemonade and sweet and unsweet tea which are very good. Refills are free. They offer milk for kids, I don't think refills of those are free though. They claim to be the first fast food restaurant to open in shopping malls, apparently the malls didn't think it would be good for them! The founders were religious and believe it's important for employees to have Sundays off for family and worship so they are always closed on Sundays, even in shopping malls! This is probably a good hook for people too as I find I often want to go and realize it's a Sunday, or think I better go Saturday because they'll be closed Sunday. This particular location ------------------------------------- Chick-fil-a restaurants are owner operated and appear to be given lots of lattitude, so quality can vary by location. This particular location is a somewhat mixed bag. It's probably an older location and seems somewhat grungy. The food seems somewhat on the greasy side. I went to this location for lunch from work this past week and my chicken nuggets were not moist or tender which made them less than satisfying. That said, compared to the Plano Parkway location, this is the location I go to when I want chicken minis for breakfast. Here they taste as they should, whereas the Plano Parkway location's are very bland. It's possible that this location starts the day out good but the quality goes down through the day. I was VERY DISAPPOINTED with our recent visit here. I plan to call corporate. Along with the rest of our order, we wanted to try the new menu item chicken tortilla soup (free with February specials). The guy gave us chicken noodle soup, not a big deal and would of eaten it but still wanted to try the *new* chicken tortilla. We told the manager we got the incorrect soup, and he took it out of my hands and threw it in the trash! We hadn't even taken the lid off! So appalling for such a reputable company. So many better options than to throw untouched food in the garbage! The lady sitting across from us had the exact thing happen to her, but she caught the guy before throwing her *wrong soup in the trash and said she'd bring it home to her husband or have it for lunch the next day. Every time I travel through Dallas, this is my go to location for food. Don't get me wrong - the San Francisco Bay Area has lots of great food, but they are missing Chick-Fil-A. Whether it is breakfast, lunch or dinner, this place does not disappoint. The stores are always clean and the food here is a great bang for the buck. I like the Chick-fil-A franchise, but not this location because of a lack of response to poor customer service. Food quality was good, but order was wrong. While correcting the order when it was brought to the attention of management, the store didn't make it worth my investment in time or compensate me for the inconvenience of having to return to the store.
