This is the most organized fast food joint that I have ever encountered. The thought process put into ordering and receiving your food is highly organized and effective. The line is always long, but you would never think it would move as quickly as it does. Servers are equipped with iPads and they walk up the line taking orders. Finally got a chance to try this place out while I was visiting the US. Ordered 12 piece chicken nuggets and a frosted lemonade. Both were really good. Usually chicken nuggets from fast food joints are made from some kind of ground chicken and fillers, but these were just straight up chunks of REAL chicken, which I really enjoyed. They also gave me 2-3 extra nuggets which is always a bonus. The lemonade reminded me of the lemon bar frappucino from the Starbucks secret menu, but better. It was creamy but not too heavy and had a nice lemony flavour. Best way to describe it would be a lemon milkshake. Better than it sounds, trust me! Unlike some of the less inspired "chicken sandwiches" other fast food restaurants serve, you can actual taste the chicken here, along with a phenomenal buttery roll and two pickles, adding a unique flavor to lunch. Given it's proximity to what seems like all of midtown Manhattan, the line for lunch can literally wind out of the store and wrap around the block, so be prepared to wait for a bit of time before getting to tear into lunch. When the line gets this unwieldy, they take your order well in advance of the counter and usually have it ready for you right after you pay. That was not a pleasant experience in this restaurant. Someone must have taken my order while I was waiting (actually I did not hear calling my name). I had to ask for my order which arrived but was missing 1 box of nuggets and 2 fries. Although I got the missing items, I got a remark from the restaurant staff: they said that you took the order 3 times. This was totally UNFAIR AND INAPPROPRIATE. I can't give this more than two to three stars. First of all there is no table seating. These are some chairs at a bar by the window. I've uploaded two photos to show how small the portions are here. Luckily this location opened and is pretty easy for me to get to. The food at this location has always been fresh and prepared well. This location (as almost every other Chick-fil-A location) gets extremely busy during lunch. They do a really good job managing the long lines and getting the food out quickly. They loose a star because the location is small and they have very few seats (only about 15 along the window). The service is good, the food is good, and the experience is pleasant. my only knock is that the waiting area is very tight, and when the store gets packed around lunch rush it can be a bit annoying. As for my meal, I find on the Chicken Deluxe combo, which is delicious white meat chicken breast dressed in tomato, lettuce, and pepper jack cheese. A marvel in modern fast food operations. The reviews saying the service is bad need to take a step back and reexamine their own expectations for what fast food service should look like. Particularly the review giving one star because he wasn't greeted when he walked in - absurdly hilarious. Try going to a McDonald's in NYC and see what that's like there. So, in this review, I take for granted that the food is delicious and focus on how consistently good the service has been in my experience - have been here over 10 times now. First, this Chick Fil-a always has 8-10 active cash registers, and multiple people with iPads ready to take your order while you're in line. It also splits customers into two lines once you get into the store to make better use of the space. Then, an employee waiting at the end of the line sends people one by one to each open cash register as they become available to make sure customers continue to move quickly. At the cash register, you pay for your meal and receive any drinks and sauces you want at that time, and then wait for your food in the waiting area (which can get crowded during peak time). Due to the combination of these key processes, even if the line is out the door and around the corner, you can get your food in under 10 minutes; and normally it's under 5. And it generally tastes like it's freshly made (fries, sandwiches, and nuggets are consistently hot, etc.). Also, employees are generally friendly with only minor exceptions. And generally there is someone there to kindly greet you, if you really care about that... All in all, this should be considered the paradigm for how a fast food joint should be run. I will start out saying that I am a native Southerner and love the Chick-fil-A brand, but this store IS A HOT MESS!! When you have an anxiety attack buying a fast food sandwich, you know something is wrong. Again--this store is CHAOS! So, whoever franchised this location decided to build it without any real dining space. This means that as you enter the store you are separated into two lines where an employee with a mobile device takes your order. Once the line moves forward, you are called by a loud and annoying cashier who asks your name and takes payment. Then you are told that your order is coming and to stand back. HERE, you join this mass of people standing around with no room to move. Simultaneously, a loud cashier yells that we all have to stand farther back so that she can take the next guest who will then join our pig pen! FYI if there is no room left to stand then stop adding people to it and clear the backup!!!! All this happens while the manager walks around like he is helping, when he is doing nothing. Then you get your order and have no where to sit. Oh and btw, keep things classy Chick-fil-A by not running out of ice cream. This is NYC. No fast food chain should 'run out' of a specific food. I could see what the hype is about this fast food joint. I received a coupon for a free sandwich and took the opportunity to try the Grilled Chicken Sandwich. It wasn't mind blowing, but it was fresh, good and got the job done to fill my hungry stomach. Totally recommend pre-ordering through the app. Walked in and the line was ridiculously long.
