I haven't been frequenting the "chain" restaurants much but since Covid I've found them disappointing. Went to this Chilis to watch the NFL game and - the good news! - they still have great TV's and lots of them. The service is the dim spot for this place. The servers and bartenders spend more time on their phones and talking to each other than with the customers. I found this same experience at the last Outback I went to a year ago. The food was salty. I left feedback and hours later was on the toilet. My bosses take out food was fine. I had to call another Chili's location to ask for Corporate's number that you said "Did not exist" before hanging up on me the second time. Oh, thank you, to your young male staff member who would not release your name, but another manager at a different location provided me their own name. I have always loved Chili's! My high school bestie and I met at Chili's in City of Industry once a month every month decades ago since she worked in LA and I worked in Pomona. We always ordered their bottomless chips and salsa and shared an occasional fajitas. Now that I moved to Lake Elsinore, it is too far to meet up, but me and my husband occasionally go to the Lake Elsinore branch of Chili's. I still order the El Presidente margarita like I used to. I came to this Chili's while waiting for doors to open at a concert nearby. It was luckily happy hour time so I got some cheap drinks and snacks. Food: Texas Cheese Fries - These were good. I asked for no bacon, and they smothered my fries with lots of cheese. Fried Pickles - The portion for this was much more than I thought they be. Overall, I enjoyed my food, but I definitely enjoyed it more because of the cheap prices. Drink: I got a vodka soda, and it was one of the worst vodka sodas I have ever had. However, it was $3 which makes it okay. It was also in a pretty large cup, a 16oz pint glass. Quantity over quality it seems. This will be a short review because there is nothing positive to say, except the hostess that sat us was nice! Drove around on a Saturday night and my husband, son and I couldn't all decide on a dinner spot so Chili's it was...desperation will do that to a person. Arrived about 8ish to find the place full of middle age women dressed like they were teens. Apparently all going to some Latin inspired concert next door. After about 5 minutes the place was dead. Our waitress arrived, even though pleasant she seemed preoccupied and our service suffered for it. We ordered. Food took forever, in a dead restaurant and we were freezing cold. The air should have been turned down about 5 degrees. Waitress brought my husband tortillas out immediately and said they are smoking hot so by the time your food arrives they will be just right...huh! Food finally arrived and it looked fairly good. But! My corn had salt and pepper sprinkled all over it and first bite told me it had been sitting in whatever they hold it in for a while. It was soggy and tasted like day old popcorn, sprinkled with pepper. Crispy Crispers had great flavor but were dried out and tough from either being fried to long or fried previously and thrown back in to reheat. Fries hot and cooked right but they are frozen so they were a no brainer. Kids sliders ok but mashed potatoes were like a scoop of glue. Strawberry lemonade was straight up water with strawberry purée added. Maybe the fountain lemonade had run out of syrup. He didn't drink any of it. Ladies room was complete chaos, I assume from all the ladies going next door. One toilet had so much paper in it, it wouldn't flush. Sink full of paper towels and trash overflowing. I would have thought the employee that was coming out as I was going in would have made an effort to tidy it up a bit. Chili's has always been a mediocre chain in my book but with the staff to customer ratio while we were there was crazy. They had plenty of time to clean in the hour we were there. Only 2 tables occupied but yet 5 waitstaff were huddled in the station in the back talking instead of working. Male manager had walked by several times without acknowledging. If in the area bypass this establishment, go through the drive thru at Chick Fil-A. Your money will be better spent. read more
