Cute dining room with plenty of seating

Can't believe it took me this long to get to Chin Dian (they're just up the road from me)! My friend and I went on a Friday night-it was both our first time, and we were intrigued by the Asian fusion theme. I ordered hot loose-leaf tea that had jasmine in it...really floral and delicious and perfect for a chilly night. For our entrees, I ordered the Curry Chicken with a medium spicy level preference, and my friend got the Sesame Chicken (also medium spicy). I loved mine-the curry was a bit thinner than I've had at other places and wasn't too rich/didn't have too much coconut milk in it. Warning...if you like your medium on the weaker side (think medium Tostitos salsa), you may want to go with a mild spicy level! I liked the spicier medium, but it was a little too spicy for my friend. Portion sizes were perfect-I ate about half and had the other half boxed up (our waiter even included extra rice in the cutest little to-go containers). Service was excellent. I think this would make a great date night (romantic or friend) restaurant! Will be back.

Took my mom here for an early dinner. It was only 5 something and the place wasnt busy so we were greeted and seated right away. I think it was Nina, one of the owners, who served us. She was so lovely, very helpful and attentive. We ordered 5-spice calamari, zesty green beans, and madras chicken. The calamari was very good. It was lightly breaded and mixed with the Chinese 5-spice .. very tasty. The star of our meal though was the zesty green beans. It was very delicious. The green beans were cooked perfectly .. not too mushy soft and still crunchy. The flavor was very good. It went so well with steamed white rice. Man oh man .. I wish I could make this dish myself. The famous mandras chicken though was just ok. It was good. The veggie in that dish was very fresh, but it just wasnt as flavorful as the other dishes. Overall, it was a great meal.

Shrimp fried rice (made spicy!) and cheese wonton. Huge portion!

Chindian cafe is just down the street from me, so after living here for a month, I decided to check it out. Now I'm convinced that I will be thoroughly addicted and spend way too much of money here. First of all, literally everything on the menu sounds awesome. I ordered a dish that I can't pronounce and definitely can't remember how to spell, but it was delicious. Noodles, bean sprouts, tofu and shrimp in a spicy sauce. I'm usually a medium to mild kind if girl, so to me, this was quite spicy, but it hurt so good. I also ordered egg rolls (delicious) and the server brought us garlic green beans (super, super, crazy, delicious). Nina, who owns the restaurant with her husband, was very friendly and personable. Her and her husband both stopped at our table to admire my friend's new iPhone 6+. She asked our names and we chatted about how long they have been in the area (almost 10 years). I was very pleased with the service and the food, and it will definitely be my new "take-out restaurant of choice" from now on.

Chin Dian is a wonderful family owned local business. Nina and Thomas run a very clean and healthy operation. Their food is tasty and generous portions. We do take out via their website and eat in. There is a dedicated parking lot on the east end of their building or street parking on Hennepin. We like the vegetarian choices. Menu include beer and wine.

Great spot run by a great couple. I really like the Ginger Tilapia Scallion dish. Singapore style Chow Mai Fun is also a winner.

Ordinary food, small servings, slow and impersonal service, poor decor. Prices are good though just don't expect much here.

I believe that since COVID they have transitioned to takeout only, and it's great to see that the business is still thriving even if they are still operating under the takeout only model despite how the world has evolved away from the pandemic. For the few dishes that I came here for, qualities varied, with some dishes lacking flavor while others simply sloppily created. The Hainanese chicken relied solely on the extra dipping sauces for flavor while the chicken itself had no flavor alone. The nasi lemak had good flavor mainly because of the sambal, and the chicken had good texture. I didn't see any peanuts in the dish, which I thought was needed for nasi lemak. The sizzling beef and ginger scallion duck had pretty expected flavor because of their ingredients, meaning that what they looked like was what they tasted like, if that makes sense. When I got food from there a second time 4 months later, overall the food was better. The chili tofu wasn't spicy at all even if I asked for spicy in my original order. The char kway teow had both good flavor and soft texture, allowing a positive tasting experience. The sambal shrimp had a good amount of vegetables and not enough shrimp, and had very good flavor because of the sambal infused with the dish. Because their menu is huge, I think they have an adequate selection of options that can serve customers of all kinds. Even though this is not one of my favorite spots within the Twin Cities, the dishes they have already solidifies this establishment as a "must not miss" within the area.

At the time, I didn't realize it was take out only. However, it worked out for us to pick it up as we headed to a friend's house for dinner. Crispy outside, soft inside Roti Canai - amazing! No wonder this is a top rec on Yelp Dumplings - average but good! Chicken Rice - We didn't realize each dish came with rice, so we ordered this but so glad we did - it had amazing flavor. Pick up process was very easy - they have their system down. Highly recommend supporting this locally owned spot next time you're craving takeout!

The volume in the restaurant is quite loud, so the patio may be better if you don't want to speak up at the table. The texture contrast between the filling, chewy exterior, and lettuce shell was fantastic. It was so flavorful and has a bit of a spice kick to it. -- The Mango Fish entree was packed with flavor, and is a very umami-forward dish. The piece of crispy salmon skin on the side is perfectly crunchy and salty. It's a filet of salmon (not a whole fish) and the salmon is nice and buttery. -- The Duck Fried Rice entree had good flavor but the duck meat was dry. It did not come with the duck leg or crispy skin, and instead had chunks of duck meat throughout the dish. This dish has a bit of a spice kick to it. -- The Pistachio Orange Blossom Cake dessert was SO GOOD. I'm not a huge dessert person and I ate every bite of this. The cake is so moist and pairs well with the fluffy mousse covering the cake. The little bits of baklava and orange zest complemented this dish really well.

I will be thinking of how good that dish is for the rest of my life; the coconut milk and lime combined with the texture of fresh seafood really hit the spot! The Thai basil wings and Massaman curry were very yummy also. I enjoyed my meal so thoroughly that I forgot to take many pictures. The presentation on my cocktail (a tonic with vodka and buddha hand fruit) was very pretty. Service was thoughtful and quick. The restaurant itself was beautiful and open and airy -- I almost felt like I wasn't in Minneapolis anymore. We went on a Tuesday, and only drawback I'd say is that the noise level can be a little bit loud due to the acoustics and how the room is one giant space. Otherwise, very happy with the restaurant and would go again.
