Update 4/29/21: Ordered 3 different dishes and todays order was better than the first time I ordered take out Spicy Ma Pa Tofu (4/5): I asked them to make this extra spicy and they made this dish good here Kung Pao Chicken (3/4): somewhat oily but flavorful with a mix of veggies Fried String beans with garlic (3/5): I had to order at least one main veggie dish so I feel semi healthy even though this was fried. I would definitely order the spicy ma pa tofu again and the string beans. For the price, you can't beat it. I was originally going to order 3 lunch specials but the lunch special doesn't include the soup for Take out orders. China Rose has been here for years, yet I think we only ate here once years ago. Was looking for a new place to try this past weekend and saw that they offer a 3 item family combination for $24 if you pay cash, $26 if you pay with credit card. Their meal also comes with the soup of the day and rice included. Always order over the phone vs online, it's cheaper and goes directly to the restaurant. We tried the ma pa tofu, sweet and sour pork, lemon chicken, beef chow fun, salt and pepper fish, and Chinese greens with garlic. Ma pa tofu - pretty spicy but cooked well Sweet and sour pork - too much breading Lemon chicken - too much breading too Beef chow fun - yum, this one was good Salt and pepper fish - where's the salt and pepper? Chinese greens with garlic - these were cooked pretty well. Overall the food was decent but next time would probably skip on the fried/breaded meats. They need to be eaten fresh to stay crunchy and there was too much breading on the outside. For the price, you can't beat it around the San Jose/Milpitas/Fremont area though and portions are good size! read more

My boyfriend is obsessed with Chinese fast food and he wanted to try this place because it was close and convenient. I was iffy after seeing the not so recent and average to below average reviews. I was pleasantly surprised! GET THE CHOW FUN We ordered the Family Combination (choice of 3 items from the appropriate list, includes soup of the day and steamed rice) for less than $27. We chose beef chow fun, chicken chow mein, and broccoli beef. The soup of the day was hot and sour soup. They no longer have pork chow fun/chow mein which we would have gotten. [Beef Chow Fun]: This was tasty! All the noodles were coated perfectly and the beef was nice and tender! Solid chow fun, will definitely be re-ordering. [Chicken Chow Mein]: This didn't have a ton of flavor but it was decent and will satisfy your chow mein cravings. The chicken was decent as well. I would re-order but my boyfriend (Chinese fast food connoisseur) would not. We wish they still offered pork chow mein! [Broccoli Beef]: The beef isn't tough or excessively chewy. Most of the broccoli still had a nice crunch and the sauce was nice and garlic-y, however they definitely skimped on the portion because when we opened the tray it was mainly one layer of food instead of stacked on. At least fully cover the bottom of the tray instead of trying to hide it with sauce! It's hard to tell in the photos though. [Hot and sour soup]: This was good! Add some chopped green onions as well as some garlic chili sauce at home and you have a good soup! Overall we will be returning. Tired this place on a Wednesday evening and it wasn't too busy, there were a few tables occupied. We ordered from the family meal, which is 3 entrees, soup and rice for a set price, and we also ordered another item as well. Sweet & Sour Pork Spareribs with Bitter Melon Pork Belly with Preserved Vegetables String Bean with Minced Tofu Honestly, everything was pretty decent, except the Sweet and Sour Pork, that was completely awful. The sauce tasted disgusting, yuck, so do not order that one. The soup is Hot and Sour Soup, it's okay, nothing special. The customer service was decent, the guy working there is attentive to customers needs and speaks good English and Chinese. The waitress, isn't all that friendly or talkative with customers. At a time where we're experiencing increasing food prices, this place really comes through and offers a big bite for affordable prices. You'll have to pay with cash to get their in-house discount, but it's very well worth it! It's about $26-$27 if you pay cash. We had this for Christmas dinner and it was delicious. Another 20 minutes later they said they gave the order to Door dash by mistake. After a nice hike up and down Mission peak, we were ravenous and craving some unhealthy Chinese food. My friend and I hopped onto google maps and found this place 12 minute away. Arriving around 7PM on Friday evening, this place was empty, but we were seated quickly and given tea and menus. This is how we felt about the food: Beef chow mien(pan fried): 4/5 - Arrived to our table, dish full with sauce. Not a bad thing, we we wanted the crunchy noodles. Sauce was very salty. - lots of toppings(beef and Chinese broccoli), but not much noodles. Fried eggplant with garlic: 3/5 - I love eggplant, and I love fried things more than I should, but this was veeerrrryyyy greasy. Taste was good, but you might feel sick after a few pieces. Braised quail: 5/5 - I rarely find quail for $3, and while it's small, it's tasty! My friend enjoyed her first experience of quail, as it's tastes much like a chicken/duck. Overall, we enjoyed our meal, albeit the small noodle portion size. Spicy Ma Po Tofu - well done tofu cubes bigger than normal but the one glaring omission was steam rice! So be sure to order some. House special seafood fried rice - an all-star selection here. Fish and squid tender and rich with flavor - succulent bite-sized shrimp cooked nice and plump not chewy or rubbery. The rice itself was fluffy not moist. There were several broccoli stalks as well decorating the top of the heaping mound of wonderful ness. This is a dish you should get every... single... time... Contrast: "Beef Noodle Soup" I'm sad there is no picture because the picture in my head did not match reality. There is little flavor to this soup base - it comes with beef like beef and broccoli beef, not the usual chuck roast and while there were plenty vegetables there was a noticeable lack of seasoning. In hindsight, I'm not surprised the item is buried on the inside of the fourth page of the menu with no picture. Lastly we did order beef chow fun again and still as excellent as last time. The menu is mostly helpful though with big and small pictures and many many choices. One thing I wish they did was get AIR CONDITIONING or at least a FAN because it was muggy in there which soon becomes sweltering if you eat a dish with any kind of spice. Haven't been here in a while but have always liked this place. They are known for their coffee ribs but on Monday I went for their 3 entree family meal. I ordered the pork fried with bean curd, black bean chicken, and shanghai rice cakes. The bean curd pork was good and sauce was tasty, the black bean chicken had so many bell peppers which I love but maybe not for those looking for a heartier portion. The shanghai rice cakes had shredded cabbage and carrots and had a good chewiness. There is a slight discount when paying cash but the best is that the meal came with rice and a tub of hot n sour soup that really hit the spot. We just ordered wor wonton soup and combination fried rice today. I thought I just give them another chance. Bad again, the fried rice taste like steam rice with vegetables and meat on it,it wasn't stir fried enough,also each time amount of rice is getting less and less, so as the meat on the soup. The price point for the food is great! Definitely reasonable and doesn't reflect the current inflation we're experiencing. The food on the other hand was just decent. We had the house chow mein, house fried rice, Mongolian beef, orange chicken, salt and pepper fish, and fried garlic ribs. The house fried rice and the ribs were definitely the highlight. The chow mein lacked flavor but the noodles were nice and chewy. The orange chicken wasn't bad but not memorable. It was also soggy and they all stuck together so the breading came off. The Mongolian beef was more like Mongolian onion cuz there was hardly any beef in it. The salt and pepper fish was pretty good but also not the best I've had. read more

Upgrades like fried rice and chow mean is $1 more for each. According to my lunch buddy, my face said it all. Main entrees we shared were tomato beef and salt n pepper tofu. We upgraded from steam rice to chow mean and fried rice. In s nutshell, here's my opinion! 1). Side salad was just iceberg lettuce, mini noodles and the oddest tasting watery dressing. 0//5. 2). Egg Flower soup was in need of something. It was bland, but hot. Not even a back drop of sesame oil flavor , good amount of egg ribbons in the cup. 0/5. 3). Fried rice needed more seasoning. Very bland and unexciting. But it did it's job to carb fill us up. 1/5 4). Chow mean came out piping hot, seasoned better than the first 3 items. I did notice in the last year they had mostly high ratings by far so maybe it was sold or new peeps work there and it changed.
