I get lunch here on almost every weekday, to the point where the folks who work here know my name! I love the Chopt Salads - they are fresh, filling, and the combinations you can make are endless. I'm also extremely appreciative of the staff here (special shout-out to Joel who always looks out for my order!) who are kind and considerate and super friendly, even when the store is at its busiest! They have fixed any order mess ups quickly and with incredible kindness, at no extra cost to me, though there are rarely any mess ups to begin with! These guys put on a better show than the knife-throwers at Benihana. I keep checking to see if their fingers are still there, lest they be Chop't into my lunch. Salads (particularly the Palm Beach Shrimp w/Asian dressing . . .ooh) are fresh, generously sized and an experience of pure deliciousness. Expensive, yes. But if you chalk up $5 of your $10 salad as the price of admission for performance art, then the cost doesn't seem so bad. read more

I've only ordered in the store, and I've never been disappointed. There was a time when I came in three times a week for lunch. I like this location because they are super quick, and friendly. Whenever the line is out of the door, I've never gotten in and out in less then seven minutes. The guys (and gals) here know what they're doing and they're super quick and efficient. The quality of the food is good. I really enjoy their dressings, they have a wide variety of lower calorie dressings without vinegar. I hate vinegar so that's a huge deal to me. read more

Lately, I've noticed my physique taking a turn for the...um, how you say...LARGER side. I live in SoHo for goodness sakes, so clearly this just won't do. I mean, my physique is my fortune after all! (Please note the sarcasm) Anywho, someone recommended that if I wanted to eat out and didn't want to keep going up pant and shirt sizes each week, that I should try Chop't, a "fun, delicious salad restaurant in the Flatiron district." Taking my friend's advice, I waddled from SoHo to West 17th street (picture this, people - seriously) and ordered a chopped salad of my own creation...which cost me $8. Now, I don't want to seem cheap, but $8 for assorted vegetables is a bit excessive. I mean, come ON! But, I digress. The salad itself was really quite tasty, and I must admit that I found myself entertained watching the salad artists (my terminology - here's to hoping it sticks) chop my potpourri of veggies into microscopic bits before placing them in my to-go bowl. Chop't is much healthier than my other take-out obsessions, and it's pretty good. While my cheapness will always betray me when it comes to paying nearly $10 for a salad, I must confess that Chop't exceeded my expectations. Granted, $10 is a lot for a salad served in a plastic container to be consumed under florescent lights however, it is New York. I adore this place! The salads are perfectly tossed (or CHOPT) so every single bite has the perfect amount of dressing and goodies. That's important, cause you know how much it sucks to get a big ol' bite of iceberg followed by a cherry tomato drowning in some yucky dressing. I really couldn't say if any of these salads are "healthy" but, I could go home to my vegetarian boyfriend and honestly reply that I had a salad for dinner. Of course he didn't need to know that it was a cobb salad that included bacon bits clawed from the loins of wee piggys and chunks of chickeny-goodness that probably came from some god forsaken farm where the chickens don't even have access to Evian water. Yummy! All of my salad was perfectly tossed in a fantastic lemon-lime vinaigrette. Did I mention that Chop't also makes all of their dressings? and they offer lemon juice as a dressing option. read more

I think they put crack in their salad. Ok, se we live in NY, and you can throw a rock and hit up a salad bar. What makes this place different, not much. but for some reason I find myself enjoying my 2x a week eating here. They do have some great pre-created salads. Ok so it's a 9 dollar salad, but it is FILLING. If you're not a 95 lb. asian girl, it's hard to get a hearty meal out of a salad. But here, you will be full. They also understand the importance of texture in a salad. Adding elements such as tortilla chips and asian noodles adds VERY much to a great fresh salad. Recos: the Po Boy. AWESOME! Tried this place for the first time last week, for a very late lunch. Since I've noticed a long line outside of here, I was hoping to catch them at a slow point at 4pm. No such luck, and it did take about 15 minutes for me to get through the line. I like the menu offerings and their suggestions. I ordered the "steakhouse", which comes with a bacon ranch dressing that is very good. The steak seemed more like shredded roast beef, but it was still very good. Overall this really filled me up, and is probably the equivalent of two of McDonald's salads, but still in a reasonable ballpark for calories. Paid about $10, so I'd probably never make this my everyday quick lunch, but great quality and variety. read more

Before you step foot into ChopostropheT, you need to ask yourself how you like your salads. If you like tiny uniform pieces of salad-like material, then get in line & prepare for happiness! But, if you like texture & bursts of flavor, then keep on walking. I didn't put 2 & 2 together and realize my salad would have the flavor pulverized out of it. I've been going to this Chop't for FOUR years now. It's terrible. If you don't go in and order your salad in person, they don't chop your salad. You'll barely get any dressing. You'll get barely any chicken. Every few months I think "Hey, i feel like Chop't. Maybe its better." It never is. Go to Cafe Medina across the street or Just Salad. There are tons of better options then this expensive garbage. read more

I never thought I'd say I was full from salad. And then I came to Chop't, and I had to unbutton my pants. Everything has you feeling good about yourself. It's fresh, healthy and nutritious, and it comes from happy animals (read: free range, no cruelty, organic when possible). Prices are decent, too (about $10), considering the amount you're given - I was forcing myself to eat the last third of my bowl. There are so many options readily available, or you could think of your own concoction and they'll whip it up right in front of you, no big deal. I admit, I was fascinated and slightly dumbstruck by the huge blade the salad baristas (?) deftly rock't over my own personal head of lettuce, slicing it to slivers. So sharp...so shiny... In case anyone is interested I've been timing my bowel movements based upon my last three visits to Chop't. I've ordered the vegetarian powerhouse salad twice - the first time with spa vinagrette and the second time with spa asian dressing. Visit # 1 from finish to bowel movement was 48 minutes. Visit # 2 from finish to bowel movement was an impressive 18 minutes. On my third visit I got the same salad but sandwich style. I'm afraid the bread caused a significant delay - I stopped counting after three hours. Disappointing. Hope this helps. read more

4 out of 5 stars: A Create-Your-Own Salad Place Even Non-salad Lovers Will Love For years, the price tag discouraged me from going to Chop't. Then I tried their cheaper salad wrap once and now I'm a loyalist. Salad a lot of times is just a side dish, a mediocre afterthought with bland iceberg lettuce and reject vegetables. At Chop't they're the main attraction. Consider, too, that the servings are huge, the ingredients are high quality, they have an excellent frequent buyer card program (every tenth salad is free), and you really are eating healthy and the price issue altogether disappears. Add the nice and efficient folks at 17th and I'll keep coming back. Try their Vegetarian Powerhouse or the Detox Salad (unfortunately seasonal only). Add the divine smoked bacon once a month. Or if you generally don't eat vegetables but don't mind a few, make your own starting with these and work from there. My start was a salad wrap of red beets, sunflower seeds, garbanzo beans (chickpeas), crumbled eggs, w/ olive oil plus feta cheese. (This is about $7+, about the size of a huge burrito.) For folks like me who eat out a lot, eating healthy was never a major consideration. With Chop't I now do that on a regular basis. The great thing with them is that they offer you all the help to eat healthy. Not only do they post the nutritional content charts on their website, they have different variations of them as well (i.e. an 'If You're Watching Carbs' or 'If You're Watching Calories' chart). But you have the last say: Bleu Cheese Dressing or Red Wine Vinegar? (Commonsensical tip which seems to escape a lot, by the way: Check out their menu online, call ahead of time, and do pick-up to avoid the horrible, horrible line.) read more

How is it that I order a salad and it shows up after an HOUR with no dressing - and the receipt says "no dressing"! Of course I want dressing, they totally just made that up! And when I call to ask for them to deliver some, they say "10 minutes" .... 30 minutes and I'm still waiting! I found Chop't one night as I left a yoga class in Union Square. Having sweat away most of my electrolytes doing 90 minutes of Prana Power Yoga in a room heated to 100 degrees Fahrenheit (See my review. Watch. Learn. Survive.), I was now weak, shaky from the inability to cool down or regulate my heartbeat, and pondering the need for an ambulance. At the very least, a defibrillator. As I walked toward 5th Avenue I saw the Chop't sign and thought, "Just what I need! Something healthy and easily assimilated into my poor, depleted body." Like most denizens of Gotham, I knew I had absolutely NO FOOD in my fridge at home and I was going to need some caloric replenishing. FAST. Chop't is small with limited seating, bright, but not what I would call cheerful. I got an odd school cafeteria feeling when I walked in. Oh, maybe it was just my mood, feeling wrung out and on my last legs and all. But I digress. The staff was not cheerful either. The two guys behind the counter waiting to make my salad could scarcely be bothered to help me place my order, even though I was the sole customer. When I asked how to proceed, he said nothing, just waved in the general direction of the menu and instructions above him. So I took my time navigating the menu and choices, which only seemed to piss them off more. I realized it was about a half-hour until closing and obviously they wanted me to place my order and then go kick rocks. Okay, geesh! I ascertained that the salad prices start at $6.95, for which you get your choice of salad greens and four toppings. First thought: Damn, that is a bit pricey for a salad! Additionally, some items are extra, like .50 for avocado or .75 for sundried tomatoes. Want to add a protein? The prices range from $1 for tofu, $2.00 for grilled chicken and $3.35 for Angus Steak or Grilled Shrimp. You can easily end up with a $10 salad if you are not judicious in your choices. Well, I did not have the strength of an ant at the moment, but I was also on a budget (read: BROKE) so I chose four ingredients from the side of the menu that did not cost extra: broccoli, tomato, cucumber, crumbled egg (I could sneak some protein in after all!), topped with a Fat-free Balsamic Vinaigrette. The guy made my salad by adding as little of the four toppings as possible. When they say "crumbled egg" on the menu they are not kidding because I got the crumbs of the crumbled egg. I doubt there was a full tablespoon of boiled egg in my salad. He then proceeded to chop it into oblivion, drown it in the dressing of my choice, and finally topped it off with a triangle of their "homemade char-grilled flat bread" which looked like a wafer of cardboard (and as I was to find out sadly, tasted like it as well. A short bus ride later I was home and fell upon the salad like some kind of desperate, starving wraith. I know what picture that conjures up, and you would be correct. When I finally came up for air, I had drawn these conclusions about Chop't: * According to their website, they chop the salads so "the flavors dance together." Is that not a pretty and lyrical description? The reality is a sort of salad soup. Between the mashed up greens and toppings and the heavy hand with the dressing, the salad is a sodden mess. I found out later from a friend that you can specify how much your salad is chopped. Needless to say, the guys behind the counter did not offer this information; he just hacked away at the salad like it had stolen something from him. * The salads are HUGE. There is only one size and it could easily be shared by two people. Maybe that is why they do not bother to add too many of selected toppings because they know you will expand and finally explode like Mr. Creosote in Monty Python's Meaning of Life (Yes, I am letting my geek flag fly). I thought I was hungry and in need of sustenance, but I actually hurt myself trying to eat all of the salad. Oh, my belly! I am pretty sure I still did a good thing for my body, healthy eating and all that, which is why I give it three stars. I left off two stars for the staff's attitude and the final product, both of which could use some work. read more

So many salad options to chose from....enough to drive my confusing mind crazy! How did I even come across this place? No joke, it was you (Yelp.com) I am excited about my weight management (and commitment) and have been maintaining a good, healthy diet but the food places around Union Square weren't addressing my needs. I love Whole Foods but dayum, I am in there 24/7 and the lines are annoying!!!!!!! I usually spend my whole lunch hr just waiting on the line....anyways, I found Chop T; the concept was interesting yet got nervous about the prices after reading the comments. But what the heck? I took a walk there, the line was almost to the door, but I squeezed my little butt in. I glanced over the menu and I knew what I wanted after doing much research on "superfoods" I got a spinach salad and added plain tofu, carrots, broccoli, chickpeas and white chedder chesse with fat free balsamic. Nothing dramatic, though. And the price wasssssssss (drumroll, please) $9.16. I was like "okay, I can't do this everyday but twice a week is good", as long as I don't go to Whole Foods and spend over my daily budget. Mind you, the salad was really delicious. Chop T, you rock! Last summer, I spent a sizable portion of my salary on 5 glorious Chop't salads a week. That's five $11 salads every week for three months. What's so special about a Chop't salad?, you may ask. Three things: 1. Everything is always fresh. 2. They have more addable ingredients than any other salad bar in Manhattan that I've seen. 3. They chop your salad up *really tiny*. That's it. It may not seem like a big deal, but trust me: it is. Your salad will not only be indisputably delicious--it will also be slobproof. Meaning, when you smile around that first bite, you won't have cumbersome greens sticking out from between your teeth. Above all, though, the variety of add-ins is really what gets me. I make it a point to compose my Chop't salad of ingredients that, for the most part, aren't found at the average deli salad bar. Intrigued? Here's a Caitlin Chop't Creation: spinach greens, smoked turkey, granny smith apples, red grapes, goat cheese (YES, goat cheese), and balsamic vinagrette. The more creative you get with your Chop't salad, the more elitist you find yourself behaving in line. I'm proud to say that my fruit-filled special often gets "oohs" and "ahs" from nearby customers. Like regular Starbucks patrons, I find myself spouting my Salad a la Caitlin ingredients at the speed of light, flipping my hair in punctuation after I've announced my dressing. And that feeling of self-assurance is priceless. I would give Chop't eleventy billion stars if I could. read more

The modestly petite yet vibrantly lit establishment that houses the edible agricultural produce of mother nature plays host to one of the original [coined term] "salad bars" in NY. Chop't has established itself as the premier salad customization enterprise in the Union Square area that caters to both the health conscious and remorseful sinners submitting to gluttonous desires wishing to repent from a previous consumable indiscretion. Patron visitation to this establishment will find that despite the three general consumables available for purchase (ie: Salad, Sandwich Wraps, and Soup), the varietal combinations at ones disposal allows for a creative, yet intended mixing and matching of the ingredients that forms the basis of ones meal. Each of the ingredients, ranging from the salad greens to the proteins are fresh and allows for consumers to truly appreciate a well made salad. As is the name of the foundation, "Chop't", salads are fined diced prior to dressing application thus allowing for both an even distribution of the dressing with each bite, as well as proper distribution of each of the encompassing ingredients. The chopped salad allows for each consumable bite to have a balanced quantity of each of the ingredients used in the application. Although the impressive application of the Chop't salad should be graced with a perfect rating, there were two contributory factors that hindered such yield. 1) The quantity of the cost additive ingredients were sub-par. For $3.00, a patron would expect to receive more than 1 ounce of Grilled Chicken. The same holds true with other notables such as Roasted Peppers, Portabella Mushrooms, Fresh Mozzarella, Edamame, etc...) 2) The cost of such an application should be ridiculed. Compared to most other salad bars (ie: Just Salad or Hale & Hearty), the price charged for the application is by far the highest of the three. For a basic Romaine Lettuce based salad topped with Grilled Chicken, Roasted Peppers, Portabella Mushrooms, Fresh Mozzarella, Edamame, Avocado, and Broccoli, the final tally of such an application resulted in a $13.72 dent in my wallet. Compared to other such notables, the same application at Just Salad equated to $9.57 and Hale & Hearty totaled $10.81. What's more disturbing is the fact that the quantity of ingredients served at Just Salad and Hale & Hearty outweigh that of Chop't in a 2:1 and 1.5:1 ratio, respectively. Despite the portion sizes and cost of the salad, the overall application contained a delightful consumable that should be indulged, rather than consumed. Patrons of Chop't will find that despite it's incessantly escalated price tag, the food itself is worth purchasing (but not on frequent occasions). read more

You had the audacity to make your food amazing and then know I have no will power to resist paying $10 for a cobb salad. WTF is wrong with you UGGHHHHHH! These mutherfudgesmackers had the audacity to give me a frequent CHOP'R card that gives you a free salad after 10 visits. It's only been 3 weeks and my card is full and I'm going to redeem my stuff today dammit! In all seriousness though, this spot is OUT THE DOOR (literally) between 12 and 2. Chop't is one of my favorite places to have lunch. I had been to the 56th St. locale several times, which is about a 10 minute walk from the office, and I was thrilled when they opened their third location here on 52nd, right across the street from my office. They've got a very clever & catchy graphic branding model, based around the semi-circular two handled blade that they use to chop your salad. They have cute little graphics of this central tool to their operation adorning their employees garb, pleasant shades of green paint on their walls (fitting, but not really that common, for a salad place), and they always play mellow reggae. You can easily take the chill factor of this little touch for granted, but it makes for a nice oasis in midtown at lunch - soft music and some good veggies for your body & mind. With assembly line-esque efficiency, they line customers up and take orders along a counter that has about 4 chopping stations. As your turn comes, they ask what you want, and you can choose from one of their many cool options (the Steakhouse salad w/ Steak, Tomatoes, Fried Onions & Blue cheese is my fave, and the Cobb & Beverly Hills Chef are also great), or build your own. They have tons of really high quality finixns - really anything you could ever want on a salad and then some - and some creative & yummy dressings; I love the sweet & smoky chipotle vinaigrette and the Tex-Mex ranch. They also always have a couple of special dressings on offer. They mix your salad up, then dump it out and literally chop it all to bits, thus combining everything so you get a bit of each ingredient in every bite. Genius. It's getting 4 stars and not 5 because you pay for the show of it - a salad will run you about $10, and you can get basically the same thing without the glitz next door for $6. But, I love it anyways, and I cough up the $10 when I want a salad. read more

Even though I work on the block, last week was my first time going to Chop't. I just wanted to see what the hype was about. I never really understood why you would pay upwards of $13 for a salad (depends on what you get). It was okay. Not great. I wasn't overwhelmed. I got the Cobb salad and asked for extras on every topping as I feel like what it came with wasn't enough for the large salad....and it is large. I wasn't able to finish it. All in all a decent experience...I guess I was looking for whatever awesomeness it was that created the cult around them. read more

Chop't is like an abusive relationship that you stay in out of convenience. You know you are getting taken advantage of but you keep coming back for more of the same. They know it, I know, it's the way it is. First of all - the place does alot of business which is very important to me for this kind of operation. No old, soggy anything. The salads are big enough for lunch so that I feel filled up for the better part of the afternoon. The ingrediants are a nice selection and are fresh. Each time I'm rung up for my lettuce and 4 toppings (no specialty toppings like meat or cheese) the total comes to $7.50. I give the look to the cashier of "You just made $7.00 on a $0.50 salad." He just stares through me and yells "NEXT." So, in sum - good salad at New York prices and I usually walk back to work convincing myself that that extra buck-fiddy I spent will be appreciated by my body in the days to come. read more

Someone below mentioned becoming a spokesperson for Chop't and I might be doing a lil of that right now so bear with me. In the last three months I have successfully lost 10lbs between diet and exercise. Chop't has been my knight in shining armor with this. They have all the nutritional information online so I could calorie count all my toppings and dressings before ordering - they offer several low calorie dressings and enough veggie options so that my palate didn't get bored with the challenge. Since the salads are HUGE I normally eat half for lunch with one of the pita triangles and then the other half the next day. Got the dressing on the side so it didn't get wilty. The veggies are nice and fresh. I wouldnt say they are AMAZING but truly fulfilling in the way of salad when you no longer have a choice ;) read more

Super disappointed with this place. Our office always used to do orders, and every time they would mess it up. On one occasion they sent a wrap instead of a salad..on another they forgot the DRESSING. I really do enjoy their salads, so I started going to the store instead of ordering online. The last time I went, my salad wasn't even Chopped. I asked the man helping me to chop it more, and I'm pretty sure he just ignored me. I know this may sound petty, but if I'm paying 12 dollars for a salad, and the name of the place is CHOPT--I would hope the salad is excellent. Bummer. Love the food! The line staff however are HORRIBLE!!! Instead of focusing on what is at hand; especially it being someone's food, they are too busy making snarky comments under their breath (in Spanish) and laughing at the clientele. As someone who has been in the service industry and understands it can be frustrating, I also know this shouldn't be acceptable behavior much less when you ask to speak with a manager and the manager is the exact person who started the whole little tiff. And how would I know?!? I'm Hispanic 100% Puerto Rican read write and speak the language fluently. You don't like your job?!? Get another one! Have a comment ?!? Delicious, fresh salads- all chop't together oh so perfectly- catered to your every wish! It's actually an exciting experience.. and ever so healthy, to counteract my other yelp reviewed dining ;) Among their already-designed salads, I LOVE the Palm Beach Shrimp and the Veggie Powerhouse! But on my own I'll always go the extra 50 cents for some sharp, crunchy arugula- with bright little tomatoes, cukes, asparagus, grilled chicken, string beans and egg- with some simple lemon juice and salt n pepper. I tried to save money and bought one of those chopping tools they use, for at home.. but I just made a terrible mess all over the counter and floor! So.. I'll stick with takeout at this stellar eatery. read more

The only creativity in the "Chop't Creative Salad Company" is its pricing. Some genius realized he could charge another $2 for what is sold more reasonably down the street at any deli. I ordered the Steakhouse salad. ($9.74 with tax). What does "Steakhouse" make you think of? A big juicy steak, right? Men in white aprons, etc. The menu describes this steak as "grilled flank steak." Ladies and Gentleman, it was roast beef and it was sour. Disgusting. Mix in some blue cheese and some romaine lettus (mostly leaves, hardly any of the crunch stems) and you have a very disappointing salad. Maybe their other ingredients are super fresh, but I wouldn't know. The only other ingredients in the Steakhouse salad were tomato (unripened bitter cherry tomatoes) and fried onion. Eh, love the concept, not fond of the taste or the price. Chop't is a fancier version of the classic create-a-salads at most city delis. The atmosphere shows an attempt at trendy efficiency. There are a few chef specialty salads, but for the most part people create their own salads. Each large bowl of lettuce starts at $6.95 and allows 4 add-ins. While there is an unbelievable selection of mix-ins (grapes, various kinds of nuts, etc.), most additions will run you at least $1.00-1.50. I assume the chef's specialties make the most sense, because otherwise you will wind up spending $10+ on the salad you really want. They do make their own interesting dressing varieties, but it's still not worth it. Other menu items include salad sandwiches and soups. read more

There are two rason why I still go here. One, to get more veggies in my diet and two, to fill out my stupid frequent chopper card. I really don't think these salads are worth 8-10 bucks, and while you can customize the hell out of your salad, some of the high-end ingredients can cost you an additional two or three bucks. The decor is less than inviting. Sure, the green walls match the color of the salad, but the ambiance should compliment your food, not look like it. I'm also skeptical about how healthy these salads are, you'd think that a restaurant that specializes in salads including fat free "spa" dressings would have their nutritional info somewhere either at their stores or on their website, yet they're nowhere to be found... read more

Do people actually finish these salads?? I wish you could get a smaller size because mine was so incredibly delicious I felt seriously guilty about not being able to finish the whole thing. I probably threw away like $3! Either way, I will definitely go back to Chop't. Today was my first visit and I concocted quite a nice salad actually. I decided to put a little southwestern flair into it asking for corn, green peppers, red onions, avocado and tomato then had them top it with the pleasingly spicy tex-mex ranch ( I can only imagine how bad this dressing is for me) and it was YUMMY!! Expensive for what it is. Super long line for lunch always - this is not an in and not type of place. Expect to wait in line 10 min + if you get there anytime between 1145-2p. A salad will cost you upwards of $12 and even more if you get a "premium" topping. An avocado is considered "premium". I recommend you go across the street to one of the other millions of places in this neighborhood, save yourself a few dollars and also get something better quality to eat! I also don't really like that they chop everything on the same surfaces. Especially if you are veggie/vegan this will bother you... We just ordered 2 salads from Chopt- A Cobb Salad and a Santa fe Salad. All I can say is- What a total rip off! Both salads were indistinguishable from the other in taste. The Santa Fe had 1 small tomato chopped up with essentially chopped up lettuce and some corn. Both orders were mostly lettuce with little specks of additional items. It should be noted that when you order your order for pickup and you ask for dressing on the side, you get 1 small rationed container hardly enough to accompany the mostly lettuce bowl. Truly the best salad joint out there. The ingredients are always fresh (unlike the other places), their dressings are unique, and its really a fun experience everytime you go there (and they try to keep the long lines moving quickly). Their salad sandwiches are great as well. The only issue with Chopt, as others have also noted, is the price. Great lunch option on weekdays, particularly if you work in the area. Make sure you arrive before 12 since there's quite a sizeable line that starts forming out the door. Not a great place to sit during the week since it's often crowded and uncomfortable. Also a great option for picking up a salad for dinner on your way home, lines are virtually non existent by then. I always opt for the Chop't Po' Boy -- tasty, filling, probably not the best choice if your eating salad for weight-loss purposes. It's hearty salad, if salads are meant to be hearty. Love the combination of flavors -- crispy chicken, salty-bite of cheese, and a kick from the onion all tossed with tex-mex ranch dressing. A bit pricy as far as to-go salads go but the portions are more than generous and it comes with a side of warm pita bread. Totally just paid 17.90$ for a salad but it was totally worth it. The customer service is absolutely amazing, which is rare in this area. The minute you walk in the employees are greeting you, offering suggestions, answering questions and navigating you through the process. They are energetic and smile at you without being too pushy. Now.... As far as the food goes? My expectations were definitely surpassed. You can either choose one of their specialty salads of BYO. The ingredients are fresh and they mix everything together and finely chopped. It's actually very entertaining. I love this place I can't wait to return!!!!! read more

This place proves that salads can be good, filling, and extremely quick and accessible. for meat eaters AND vegetarians. If you have not been here, and you live in New York, you are missing something. It's like going to subway, except salads. You tell the person what to put in your salad, what type of greens, ingrediants, etc-- or you can pick from a list of things. They have most ingredients you can think of. ... then they take your salad and chop it up. They can put it in a wrap for you, or just a bowl. mmmm mmmm good. What a great place to stop in for a lunch in the middle of a shopping day or a work day. I will say-- on a week day around noon or 1pm, this place usually has a line. It goes quickly. read more

What happened to you Chop't? I miss the old you. I have frequented Chop't over the years and it was really great in the beginning. In fact, I was a big fan and would've rated it 4 stars this time last year. Now I only go there begrudgingly when I feel like being ripped off. The main reason is that as time has gone on, they've really skimped on the portions of toppings/extras. They've replaced average sized portions of vegetables, chicken, or whatever else... with more lettuce. The service is hit or miss and some folks are nice while others aren't. That's to be expected in a busy lunch spot in union square of course... But I feel like I everytime I ask for an extra beet or a little bit more corn, I get a big attitude from the staff. My theory is that management told the staff to follow specific portion guidelines and they probably get asked by every customer to add more. It's still a clean place that offers a good salad. But as far as I'm concerned they've gone quite downhill. read more
