I normally wait till I get home to write a review on a place I visit, bad or good. But this could not wait! When this place first opened up I was got really excited. Great open concept, nice tvs and near the house. But that was then. I've been fair and come in here a few times just to fair and to no surprise, you didn't fail! Your service and customer experience continues to plummet! The only reason I came in here was to watch the rockets and hear them, seeing you play the sound. I'll give you that! But that's about it! Your servers have no experience, they leave you waiting for your drink, no menu "no worries, I'll get it myself." The draft beers are disgusting1 bcs they probably haven't been washed in ages!The topper today was watching the bar back pull out his towel, throw it on the ground, use his foot to move it around, " as if there is no nearby mop and pick it up and place it in his belt loop! Now I was a bit curious, would he put aside the towel and get a new one or reuse it? Ding ding ding! I watched him wipe down the bar twice and a table! Really man? I figured I'd tell the "manager" as he is the one who dropped off my food. I made him aware, politely and he said, " thanks, it's good to know" What a joke, the so called manager didn't even address the bar back and continued hanging out with his boys and lean on the counter with his toothpick in his mouth "nice touch" and did nothing! Terrible service!!! Me and my boyfriend sat for twenty minutes and no one came to serve us or greet us even though the bar tender clearly saw us and there was only two people in the restaurant! Horrible horrible service tonight. It's not even busy and it took over an hour to get chips and queso, CHIPS AND QUESO!! That was after they were reminded. It look even longer to get our meals and most were wrong and missing stuff, which was never fixed. I only got 1 beer the entire 2 hours I was here despite asking multiple times. CHECK YOUR TICKETS!!! this was my second trip to there new location and being a regular at there midtown location i was excited to see them open. That was all changed on my first visit. They over charged us by $30 and then tried to say we were wrong and that was just my check. They put 4 extra drinks on my friends tab and another one of our friends tabs. Then when we asked for the printed receipt they said because it was already closed we would have to go back in the morning. The wait staff is dreadful and they have no idea what is on the menu. i was told that a draft was the same as a bottle not true! bottles 3.50 draft 1.50. very sad I expected better after 2 visits. there are way to many places to go for this lack of service. read more

I came here for a World Series Astros game and it was packed. The service was pretty good for how busy it was, although our waitress didn't want to give us the drink menu which was kind of weird. Drinks were good, I got 2 hot dogs which were just okay, and then decent fries. What really turned me off though was how charged my credit card about $4 more than what it should have been. I have my receipts, closed out my tabs and gave a 20% tip to waitress and bartender but they definitely charged me more. It's only $4 so it's not too big of a deal, but still kind of sketchy. read more

Came in for steak night at 7 after happy hour was over Wednesday. $1 per ounce all the way up. Comes with a baked potato and a salad. Not bad for bar steak. Started with the frito pie appetizer that was $5. It was a bowl of fritos, a spoonful of chilli, and one pinch of shredded cheese. It was so disrespectful. I ordered the same shiner twice. Somehow, one was $4 and the other was $4.50? I also came to watch kobe's last game and they shut off the sound so we would leave at 11:58pm. This was probably the worst restaurant experience ever. The manager Chris was extremely rude to me and tore up my receipt in my face. The waitress put a pitcher of beer on my tab that I did not order. When I asked her why my chicken tender basket cost $18 she immediately accused me of being agressive and falsely accusing her of overcharging me. I can understand this type of behavior from a waitress, however when a manager becomes involved I would expect more professional behavior. The manager accused me of attacking the waitress instead of asking me about the situation to begin with. Last time I checked the customer has the benefit of the doubt... but not here. I've been to the Christian's Tailgate on Bagby many times and always had a great experience. Think twice before coming to this location when there are several better bars in the immediate area. Don't waste your time here. One day, I was sick and called in a burger for lunch, which the employee answering the phone did not fix. After she told me to wait 15 minutes (long time to cook a burger if you ask me) and I came in, I did not get my burger, but I DID get a lot of attitude. After this rather unpleasant experience, I went to Beck's in the Heights. It took 10 minutes to get my hamburger and I got zero attitude. But hey, if you want slow, rude service, overpriced hamburgers and a dog slobbering at you while you eat, I'm sure you can find it all at this Christian's. Lastly, this issue seems to be isolated to this location. I have been to the 'Old' Christians location on Washington Avenue and found the atmosphere much better. read more

We come here pretty often for $1 tacos on Thursdays. But it's so well known that the service is awful here that I decided to finally leave a review. Every. Single. Time. Don't get me wrong we're still gonna come for the tacos on Thursdays since they're so cheap for the quality. Definitely double the amount of time you expected to spend here. Been going to Christians for YEARS . Started at the midtown location and recently have been frequenting the heights . In recent visits the bartenders were slow and under trained . Lacking basic skills to multi task and provide expedient service . I have to say tho , it looks like they have very recently hired some bartenders who actually know what they are doing (not based on looks , gender or the ability to fill out a simple job application) Waitstaff is definitely lacking in the customer service area but twice I have been served by a bartender who was definitely on point . We aren't the easiest group , often large and demanding but , but both times Miguel (I think ) (BIG Hispanic guy who knows his shit) took care of us . Honestly , if it was not for him , we wouldn't be back . The rest of the staff (and management apparently ) need to get their stuff together . Glad to finally have someone in the whole place who knows what they are doing and doesn't have a bad attitude or is clueless . I heard corporate took over this place and it's been down hill since . We were surprised to actually have good service , correct drinks and HOT food when we visited this time . If the management knows what they are doing they will keep more people on staff like this guy . If it was wf for him changing things around we wouldn't be back to Christians . read more

Tough transition. New ownership. I had to ask, because clearly something was different. Service was friendly and attentive as usual. Menu was the same. A few subtle changes, but all in all the same eatery I've been enjoying for the past couple of years (how long???). The burger wasn't quite as moist as in the past, but generally had the distinctive "homemade" taste. The buns weren't toasted like the past, and either the buns got bigger or the meat go smaller, but it clearly was better than a drive through. BUT OMG, WHAT A PILE OF LIMP, MUSHY POTATO SCRAPS!!!!!! I'm nice to the waitstaff to a fault regarding the food - it's not their job - but they have the "client facing" job so that's who you ask and I asked. My waitperson said the store had changed owners and they were using different ingredients - "no more Sysco, they now had house cut fries and fresher ingredients". She was very friendly and clearly had been given professional talking points, but her body language told the story. She knew it wasn't the same food and couldn't defend the differences. She said next time ask for "more well done" fries and maybe that would help. Things just aren't the same as the Christian's Tailgate Houston grew to support as it grew and expanded. The White Oak store is clearly a nicer, larger and more entertaining space than the original off I-10, but we have a lot of really great options in this town for food and beverage and sports television. I hope the "new owners" figure it out quickly or this won't end well. read more

We went for steak night and what a disappointment. The salad in in a cart that is awkwardly placed in the front room that we had to get ourselves. It was nothing special and kind of not sanitary. Anyone could walk by and sneeze on it or put their hands in or all over it. The steak was overcooked and very thin and we couldn't get out of their fast enough. Although the whole experience took over an hour because our waitress was busy talking to the other girls about something that required the nastiest language I have heard come out of such a cute petite little girl. Went back after the manager contacted me and made it very clear that he was very apologetic for the level of service. This goes along way with me. So... This was pretty bad. I hope our waiter was high and not just that terrible. We had been there for 10 minutes without a waiter so we went to the bar to order: not a problem except a waiter (who we assumed was off duty because he walked passed our table to sit at the table next to us) came up to us and said "you know I'm your waiter right?". No. No we had no idea. So we get drinks at the bar and go back to our table. He then took our food and drink order: one beer and one pound of crawfish. 15 minutes later he comes back with a beer and says "I forgot the beer so I bought you this one. Did y'all want to order?" We remind him of the crawfish and he clearly forgot to put it in. He comes back 10 minutes later to say there is no crawfish. So... 45 minutes into this experience and he has had us wait for one beer and no food. We order something else and get a free round after our waiter drops a tray full of drinks right next to us. We leave and on our way out there is a couple who has crawfish. REALLY? Did he just lie because he forgot to put in the order or what? It's just shocking! Our waiter chased after me and said he had NO IDEA there was crawfish! I just cannot understand the lack of training or composure he had. This place has really gone downhill. Its kind of like KMART before they finally shut down. It was awesome when it first came out, had a good run, and then just became crappy. Steve Christian would never have allowed the service and quality that this place currently offers to "fly". Service is non existent. Even when there is only a few patrons, the servers and bartenders seem to be in the weeds. Expect a long wait at the bar and even longer at a table. I have been frequenting the various Christian's Tailgates for the about 10 years. Every visit lately seems to be more and more disappointing. Menu's offer specials that are now non existent, prices are high ($35 for 2 burgers and 3 beers), and the staff is possibly the worst in the industry. Save your hard earned money and go somewhere else. The sticky tables, absentminded bartenders/waitresses, high prices for mediocre food and service, and overall bad atmosphere add up to a disappointing time. I will reminisce of the good times we had every Monday and Friday at "tailgate" back in my college days, but will not be returning to this place again. read more

What can I say I love this bar, like anywhere you go it has its pros and cons but definitely more pros than cons. Some of the pros the food is great and they have Happy hour pricing on drinks all the time plus huge selection of shots starting at only $3. Con's no midget wrestling, I think that is one of the few things that the Heights is missing is a venue for midget wrestling. Pro: The staff is awesome especially Irene, every time I walk in I'm greeted and most of the time they have my drink waiting on me by the time I make it to the bar. So yea my review might be a little bias because I am a regular but I've was always taken care of even before I became a regular. I'm surprised the reviews are so low for this place. I had the G-string salad and it was delicious!!!! We were able to find a more quiet-ish area to watch the A&M opener so that our grumpy 4 month old would tolerate being out in such a crowd. The waitress was very friendly (albeit very busy) but I over-all enjoyed it. Maybe I had low expectations for the food, but I would definitely come back to watch some Aggie games. read more

LSU Houston Alumni group bar. LSU game watches. Dog friendly. Smoking section and non-smoking section. Drink specials. The best grilled shrimp tacos in the city. All of the other food is pretty good too. Guilty of going here to get take out tacos on a week night. Decent drink prices. Slowest service in the entire world. Friend was in town visiting and was craving a burger so christian's tailgate naturally was our answer. Plus I had a groupon for christians. The food here is always consistently delicious. The burgers are great, juicy and cooked just right. The toppings are aplenty and everything comes out piping hot. If this review was based solely on food it'd be a solid 4 stars, but the service. ughhh the service. Came on sunday night, it was pretty packed, (sunday funday types) and there was only one waitress working. regardless went to the bar to order, and the guy behind the bar took around... 10 or so minutes. Went here for lunch at 11:30 once a waitress showed up we ordered nachos that took 25 minutes to arrive. We ordered burgers that arrive 40 minutes later. The burger and onion rings were good but the French fries were cold. Took another 20 minutes to get the check and change. Not worth 2 hours of my time to eat here. The service was awful. I met some friends here for lunch before the World Cup game. The service was hit or miss - our waitress wasn't nice or friendly and really never checked back up on us but the guy that was working and helping her was really good. I wasn't that hungry so just got a pulled pork slider which was good. My friends has burgers and the chicken sandwich and I think they were good at least they didn't have any complaints.
