In case you didn't know, you can order ahead a large amount of donuts for the next day. You prepay and pick up the next day. It's amazing! My friend and I ended up ordering three dozen chocolate and glazed donuts for our students. Due to COVID, we had to make sure that each donut was individually wrapped. I'm sure the woman who took our order wasn't thrilled by that request, but she took it. Make sure you have cash because that's the preferred method of payment. We came in around 10am on Saturday, and there were a handful of people sitting at the tables and couple more perusing the goods. We were helped within a couple minutes of entering the store. Finding out it was cash only, I scrambled around my pocket and luckily pulled out $10, so we decided on the filled donut holes ($3/dozen) and a sausage&egg croissant sandwich ($3.50). When asked if we wanted anything else, we asked if there was tax on the purchase, not wanting to order more than we afford. The owners informed us that they don't tax on the donuts but the sandwich would be taxed. While ringing up our purchase, they heated up our sandwich and we were ready to go. The sandwich was nicely balanced and the filled donut holes are a pleasant change from the classic donut hole. The ladies working here are very nice and attentive. I have gone to Christy's for over a decade. And I LOVE their (yeast) donuts! This post is specifically for the new management that took over a month or two ago. The donuts, while large and identical-looking as before, are not as fluffy and pillow-y as before, which is the main reason why they used to be soooo stellar!! Give Stan's donuts a run for their money imho. I'm sure there is a way to exactly replicate how the previous owners did it, having read they are on board during transition, and if that original recipe/donut process were brought back, we'd have a winner back again. I've been recently having a preggy craving for donuts and Christy's Donuts definitely fulfilled them. This is literally less than 10 min away from my house yet I can never get up early enough to be able to have enough time to try their filled donut holes before work or even on days offs. Usually always having to settle for something else when that happens (sigh) but low and behold I finally was able to get my ass up Presidents' Day (2/20/2017) and called ahead to make sure they were open and had enough. I'm not a big chocolate fan but my bf is so I decided to grab a dozen for him, some custard holes for his coworkers (I'm so nice lol), and a dozen plain for me. I was excited to see they had raspberry filled donut holes so I grabbed a dozen of those for myself too. This place has regulars as I quickly learned by the friendliness and first name basis some patrons had with the nice two ladies. The ladies were also very accommodating with my orders and were very fast and efficient. I took a bite of my bf's chocolate filled donut hole and it actually pretty delish! The raspberry filled holes were awesome as well and the plain soft, doughy, goodness. I couldn't speak on the custard bc I didn't try it but the doughnuts weren't overly sweet and I didn't get tired of eating them even after the 6th hole. Speaks volumes bc I get tired of sweet food fast. My only gripe is that it's CASH ONLY. Which for me, is a let down bc I don't always have cash on me. One of the reasons I love CALI is for the pink box donut places. Thank you for warming up items and the croissants. I'm a native Cali girl and have two friends with me. We live in NC and when I got there I asked about pink box donut places. They blinked at me confused. There it's Dunkin, krispy and duck donuts. I don't care for any of them. One friend loves croissants and I hit her with the I got you when we woke up our first Day here. We got to the place and each ordered a croissant sandwich (bacon egg and cheese and two sausage egg and cheese) one person also got a cream cheese croissant. I got an glazed buttermilk bar (warmed up) and the other friend got a bear claw. Cash only place which I didn't know before hand but luckily we all had cash so no biggie. We get back in the car and first bite of the sandwich the ladies start dancing and yelling my name asking where this has been all their life. CALI PINK BOX FOR THE FREAKING WIN!! Sandwich filled us up and then for most of the day. To the point before we leave that will be our stope before we head to the airport. The owners are super nice, and they always throw in a little extra donut holes free of charge! You have got to try those famously amazing custard holes! Normally, custard to me usually has an almost sour taste, but this is more of a vanilla pudding flavor. They also sell out quickly so on weekends especially, come early! I get donuts here for my team every Wednesday, and they are always on point. Our shift starts at 5 am, so I usually stop by before then. The guy who's always there is really friendly and chipper before 5am and that's awesome! There's usually a line of people waiting to be served and you know that's always a good sign. Christys is one of my all time favorite places to visit! From the friendly nature of the shop to the delicious food Christys has it all. My usual order here, is the Jalapeño cheese bagel and Custard filled donut holes. This order is usually topped of with either a Thai Iced Tea or a Caramel Coffee blend. I also love their French Crullers and Carmel Custard filled bars. Of all the items I have tried at Christys, my favorite has to be the Custard holes. These delicacy's are the perfect balance between too sweet and bland. In addition to the perfect taste, the texture of both the donut and the custard are PERFECT. Rounding up from 3.5 stars- Solid tasting donuts but it had a bit too much vanilla flavor for my liking. There was also an orange-y aftertaste as well, which was more pleasant than the strong vanilla taste. The best thing about the donut from Christy's was how little grease it had! Even after microwaving, there wasn't a huge puddle of oil/grease left on the plate. What the heck happen to this place? The previous owners used to serve great coffee and good donuts . I'm sad to say that this place is not the same. Donuts are soggy and coffee taste cheap.
