Shrimp burrito, no dairy (pescavegan), black beans, almost all of the fix'ns.

Although I'd never previously experienced Chronic Tacos, I'm grateful to finally become familiar with this chain. Based on my single takeout experience, I'd trust this as a solid go-to Mexican food spot: the perfect place to pick up burritos for a beach picnic, or to stash in your cup holder should you get stuck in traffic. I appreciate that they weren't shellfish and didn't skimp on the shrimp in my shrimp burrito. Bonus points for their sensitivity to my allergy needs. If you're dairy-free, you're safe here! They also managed to squeeze fields of veggies and multiple salsas into one tortilla without it crumbling. As much as I admired endless ingredient options and sturdy wrap-construction skills, I do wish they had disclosed that guacamole is an extra $2.50. They mentioned it was extra while we sauntered through the assembly line, but they didn't tell me HOW much extra until I received my fully-foiled burrito at checkout. I hate to pull a Karen (erm, a basic-Chihuahua...), but ay caramba. That said, quality, options, and hopefully reliability/consistency (to be determined) will keep me coming back for more. Tasty tortilla chips definitely help. I look forward to upgrading this review to 5 stars, so we can all get our Chron nom on.

Hope you're comfortable with street parking because I couldn't find anywhere else to park when I got here. I found the staff can be a hit or miss. The girl working there wasn't very helpful when I told her it was my first time here and asked for recommendations. She just told me to order whatever I wanted and kind of just brushed me off. The other staff member was much nicer when answering my questions. Their style reminded me of Chipotle, where you can order a burrito, bowl, etc. Then you choose your protein and whatever additional topping you want. Guacamole is extra here as well. I got the burrito with chicken and Baja style. It's a lot of food and can definitely be shared. But if you are able to finish the burrito in one sitting, it will probably make you full for the rest of the day. I ordered my food to go. Even though there's a seating area off to the side, I didn't really see anyone stick around to eat, so I didn't either. The food was good and very filling, but it's so similar to Chipotle in terms of style. I don't know if I would make the drive here again, though.

Pretty yummy , priced right and I'm pleased they open at 9:00am which they were very busy!! Not sure if Caleb Walker owns this location or not. Dude making the food could have been more friendly.

First time ever at Chronic Tacos, and can honestly say I throughly enjoyed myself and the food is pretty great! The menu is very clear, and I love all the different options and "styles" you can order your food. I enjoyed the small breakfast burrito customized with cheese and sour cream, and my partner demolished his asada burrito "gringo style." The only reason I'm not giving them 5 stars are because the cleanliness of the restaurant at 2:30pm on a Friday could've been a little better (tables hadn't been wiped down, soda machine was VERY sticky), and that the chips could do with some extra salt. All in all, will definitely be coming back next time we are in town!

Hate to leave a bad review but on a phone order I made clear to have rice no beans and got no rice no beans. They did drizzle a handful of cheese on about 1/10th of what they did every time I've came before now. What I'm disappointed about is the amount of bland fries I was left with at the bottom. Hopefully another location will be able to do better next time. Also never picked up the phone when I called again. Wasn't worth $15.62

I normally come here for breakfast burritos & decided to come for dinner.... Huge mistake. There was a bread tie in my burrito. $34 for 2 burritos and churro bits and they don't even make sure everything is good to go.

With tax of $17.42, the bill came to $242.42 before gratuity. The seafood paella was the primary reason to try this restaurant. The caramelized crust that forms when the rice at the bottom of the pan is cooked over high heat is called socarrat. It had a nice, nutty crunch. The variety, quantity (and the size of pieces) of seafood was very good. I've never had the flavor combinations within this duck breast dish before. They lay off the salt and emphasize the taste that comes from cooking at high heat--and berries. The lamb lollipops were seasoned and prepared very well. It also came with a couscous accompaniment that complimented the meat. This restaurant has complete dinner plates, but it specializes in tapas style dining. When you order a variety of items, it's normal to find you like some items better than others. On this rare occasion, not one item disappointed.

Chris, the chef/owner, changes the menu seasonally and there are always some tasty options. But I have a hard time ordering something new because the 48 hour fries (so light and airy with homemade ketchup and special sauce on the side!), Short Rib tacos, and Tuna Tartar Tostadas always call our name. The cocktails are delicious and perfectly balanced, including the Tangerine Gimlet, which is dangerous because it goes down way too easily. The lore is that Chris grows the tangerines so not only is this restaurant family owned, it sources locally too. Most of the staff have been there for years and they are all very well versed in the menu and are super friendly. Customers shouldn't have to repeatedly check on their orders after waiting that long. If the actual wait time is significantly longer than 15-20 minutes, the online ordering system should be updated to reflect accurate estimates. Sure, I wouldn't rate every single dish I've had here as 10/10 but my god many of them have been and some have surpassed that. And even the few that weren't were an easy 7.5/10 minimum. They especially do veggies SO WELL. My husband who has been anti-veggie for most of his life just ate an almost entirely vegetarian meal here to tonight, so well done y'all. You've gotten him to eat foods I've struggled with convincing him to eat for years lol. Every time we come he says we need to get the maitake mushrooms. MUSHROOMS y'all. I couldn't get this man to touch mushrooms with a ten foot pole before. Anyway, explore their offerings. Bring a group to share things with so you can try more! No, darkroom is not cheap but the quality aligns with the price, which is absolutely reasonable for what it is. This would be more expensive if they were in Newport or LA so I'm glad this is where they've landed and I hope things don't change. Big hits this evening were the asparagus with whipped piquillo and the scrambled egg agnolotti. Just chef's kiss. And then besides the mushrooms we always get the potatoes and zucchini bread. And hot tip, always get a couple orders of the focaccia to soak up all the sauces on the dishes. They make for nice little side quests. Assume that for a dinner date, a curious foodie pair could be stuffed and happy for $140-$200 depending on appetite. Allows you to try just enough things and you're gonna want to since the menu changes regularly. What's there now may not be back so choose wisely!

They have 3 nice size tvs too if you're wanting to watch some games. We sat at the bar and for sure thought we'd indulge in happy hour menu times but we saw photos of the Drive Thru Burger and could not resist ordering it. My friend and I split the burger. It was the perfect amount to share as well. The patties were so juicy and flavorful along with the sauce and the rest of the ingredients, it was definitely one of my fave burgers I've had in a while. I decided to try their espresso martini. Not bad at all. I asked for not to sweet and no cream, got exactly what I ordered. We ate for sure coming back to try the bread pudding dessert as well, one of my faves!

#1 favorite brunch spot in OC! The food is TOP-NOTCH. Amazing options, great flavor, consistent…read morequality. When I say amazing...I mean AMAZING. I've had the Drive Thru burger, chicken and waffles, BTL, etc. and they were each some of the best food I've had in OC. Can't get over their French fries with the homemade ranch and the garlic aioli. Honestly committed to trying everything on the menu at some point this year. Service is also top-notch. Gabriel is the best waiter (you know they're good when you don't even want to call them waiter) I've ever had at any restaurant - he is so sweet, funny, and makes everyone feel genuinely cared for. I love that the restaurant is usually quiet and less busy because that means I don't have to wait to be seated, but I am genuinely SHOCKED. This is the type of place you expect to have a 3hr waiting list. Perhaps it's a matter of location. Perhaps they revamped their menu since some of the negative feedback. If you've tried this place and it wasn't your favorite, please give it another chance for brunch, it's fantastic! Can say enough great things about Social. BLESS YELP FOR HELPING ME FIND THIS GEM!
