After visiting and living in 48 countries including Roma, Italy and Firenze, Italy (Florence for Americans), I've tried everyone's take on "Italian" and Cibo Vino is worth a visit. They have an elegant inside with nice ambiance and relaxing corner outside patio when the weather is nice. The staff and manager were really nice and helpful. Their wine selection is very strong and contains some really good Italian wines (plus some good California-based wines...but why would you drink anything but Italian wine at a good Italian restaurant like this one?). The Burrata Caprese is a 9 out of 10! It had all of the right ingredients and flavors (balsamic vinegar, olive oil, ripe tomatoes, basil, salt, and of course a really smooth and flavorful burrata cheese (similar to a buffalo mozzarella). I try Carbonara at new Italian restaurants to gauge if they know how to make a basic Italian dish common in the middle and northern portions of Italy. Anyone can make and over flavor other favorite American-Italian dishes but you either fail or succeed with Carbonara...and they succeeded! The egg-based pasta was cooked perfectly, the sauce was smooth (and not overly "juicy" like in most American restaurants), the cheese sprinkled on top was flavorful, and the most important part of Carbonara is the Speck (bacon/ham). The Speck was crispy, the dish had the right amount of it, and was full of flavor...well done. The whole dish was 9 out of 10! Next was the Panna Cotta which this one was in the top ten I have ever eaten! The Panna Cotta itself was obviously made here and not shipped in from a factory. The chocolate and caramel sauces drizzled on it were spot on, but the hazelnut/sugar crumble on top and around it was the best I have ever eaten! A 10 out of 10! Finally, only authentic Italian restaurants serve Limoncello as a digestive after dinner and Cibo Vino does just that! Overall Cibo Vino is a great new Italian restaurant in Omaha worth trying. This place is great! And the hummus with grilled focaccia was amazing!! When I saw the hummus came with bread, I was a little skeptical since I'm used to Mediterranean style with pita. But it was a sweet hummus that spread perfectly over the bread and was the highlight of the meal for me. The beef tip penne was good with the beef coming out at about a medium well cook. The flavor was good, but I think I'd try something else next time. The tenderloin was very flavorful and the potatoes that came with the meal were fantastic! Such a good seasoning mix! We also ordered the cannoli to end the day, and it wasn't anything to write home about, but worth a try. I'd probably go with the tiramisu next time. Service was great and very attentive. Staff was friendly and we didn't wait too long. The pasta was absolutely delicious. My cousin had the vodka pasta and I had the beef penne. I loved the mushroom and penne. The beef was so tender, I only wish the meet had a little bit more salt and pepper. Other than that I really enjoyed my meal. I will be back! read more

The environment was just as great as it was last time, though I've got to say the service wasn't as good this time. Parents are visiting this week and this was on my must go to list for them. We all thoroughly enjoyed the food and amazing service. They've got a pretty good happy hour with $5 house wine and $3 beers, even on Fridays. The house Cabernet was dry and delicious. New Italian restaurant located in the Old Market area. In a great location and decorated very modern with nice windows that overlook the surrounding area. Our pastas were both fantastic and the Frutti di mare was the perfect blend of seafood and pasta with a sauce that was slightly spicy and pulled everything together. My wife and I had a nice dinner at Cibo Vino in the old market recently, and I thought it was definitely worth a review. We were greeted by the hostess and seated near the bar, the restaurant itself has two levels and was warmly decorated with dark woods and wine bottles with a long bar, I liked the layout. The menu was nice, a good selection of appetizers, small plates, and main courses with a small desert section. My wife ordered a French 75 and I ordered an old fashioned from the bar, both were good. For a starter we ordered the larger version of the meat and cheese board, it was massive, and came with some really nice warm bread. This could easily accommodate 4 people, and the meat and cheese selections were very good. For entrees we had the porcini beef penne and the Bolognese pasta. Both were cooked perfectly al dente and were well seasoned and tasty. I thought the Bolognese was the better of the two. The staff was nice as well, I will for sure come back to try more of the menu in the future. read more

My food was horrible, i got the brown butter fettuccine with chicken and my chicken was so burnt that it made the whole entree taste burnt. My kid luckily added shrimp to hers & she enjoyed it. We stopped in for brunch so I'm not sure if that made a difference. Place was very empty. Went for Limited menu during Omaha restaurant week. I was surprised how big this place is. Our waiter looked like Leonardo DiCaprio - he was attentive and trying his best with the very slow bar and kitchen. Ended up being a 2 hour dinner because food and drink service so slow. I had lemon chicken piccata, buratta with tomatoes and hazelnut flan for dessert. It was all good. I failed to take pictures. I wish the tomatoes were local farm fresh but they were not, so a little hard. I'd go again. Good wine and drink selection and the place was packed. Came here on a Wednesday for dinner. Sat outside...Ambiance very nice. Unfortunately, the service was very slow from the beginning to the very end. As we were not really in a hurry, we went with the flow. The waitress explained that they were busier than usual and were understaffed. The food was VERY GOOD. We started with the Fennel and orange salad (more orange than fennel and arugula) and the beet and goad cheese salad...both were very good. For entrees we had Lemon Chicken Piccata (which was made in a very light sauce with cherry tomatoes, olives, capers...just right on the flavors) and the Linguini Ala Vongole (lots of clams IN THE SHELL which we didn't expect). I am a sweet wine lover and typically enjoy a moscato, while they didn't have a moscato the server took the time to recommend a wine that was just perfect with my pasta. Been here a couple of times. The vibe is amazing. It is spots like this that brings life to downtown. It has very wide seating areas, big windows to allow natural light and an overall pleasant atmosphere to have a chat. The lower side behind the bar can echo a bit much but otherwise I've enjoyed the times I've been there. The service is efficient. Food is standard. Came here for my friend's birthday, it was our first time here and probably our last. We made reservations, I'm not sure why because they gave us a table that was too small and directly next to the noisy kitchen. Service was slow. The worst part was probably our server (Jess G) who was rude and standoffish. We asked for water after not refilling for an hour and she looked at us so disapprovingly. When we asked what was on the charcuterie board, she did a terrible job describing it. It was just bad service all around. Portions are small, food is overpriced, and don't eat the bread--it is consistently burned. Even when we asked for new bread, it tasted of overwhelming char. We stoped in for dinner on a Sunday evening around 630. We were greeted immediately and seated promptly. Our server, Chris was very helpful and knowledgeable. The restaurant was a little too dark, which made it difficult to read the menus. We got the burrata as an appetizer. The flavor was on point; however, portion was pretty underwhelming. I had the veal Marsala. The portion was also quite disappointing. A few small slices of not very tender veal with a heap of mushrooms, swimming in a greasy yet flavorful sauce. I should have paid more attention to the menu, I assume the dish would come with some sort of a starch, it did not. What it did come with were a few small pieces of broccoli, I had a hard time, enjoying them as the person who brought the food out to the table allowed his hair to rest on them as he brought the tray out on his shoulder. I'm all for letting people express themselves, but I think in this situation, his hair should've been tied back and not just allowed to drape on my plate. My daughter enjoyed the Alfredo sauce but said the shrimp tasted "off". My wife had the cacio e pepe with salmon. She really enjoyed it. $104 for dinner for 3, without drinks, and I had to have a snack when I got home. I don't know if this was just an off night for them or how it goes, but I'm not anticipating returning to try again. read more

I dont think this place's decore has changed significantly over the past 3 owners, the crunchy grey black ceiling always illicits poor remarks from the people I eat with. Food was poor, focaccia was super doughey, much better foccaccia in Omaha at other restaurants. Cheese plate wasnt well thought out, flavors didnt jive with the accoutrements. Calamari appeared to be bagged frozen calamari youd get at olive garden or other big chain restaurants. My caesar was ok, artichoke appeared to be canned and tossed into a single large chunk at the bottom of the plate. Other two salads that were ordered were swimming in salad dressing, half soup half salad... Not great. Carbonara was not great, read a review on here about how it was the best in town, it was garbage, guanciale was poor quality and over cooked, and the sauce was gnarly, definitely olive garden quality. Someone got the fillet steak ordered medium, it came out rare-medium rare with a bright red juicy center. Expresso martini ordered at the table had no expresso in it, it tasted and looked like a cream based chocolate martini, not great. I thought maybe it was just a sunday night thing but the half owner/chef was there cooking and coming out and talking to his friends, dont know what he's trying to do there but its not creating quality italian food. Go to Dante or via farina if you want italian in omaha, im sure theres more as well, but Civo Vino stunk. Service was ok, I felt bad for our server having to serve the food. read more

Was seated quickly and efficiently. Drinks were brought to the table in a timely fashion. Food arrived hot and fast. I ordered spaghetti ala Calabrian chicken she had bolognese. Couple red flags here. Chicken was cut into cubes as was the broccolini. This tells me it could have been cooked another day or leftover from another dish. Why cut it all up ? I'm not a toddler. Bolognese was served with the traditional pappradella noodles. Flavor on these was just lacking. Spaghetti was very watery with chopped everything. Sauce was thin. Bolognese was like a basic meat sauce. If you are looking for authentic Italian this is not the place but if you crave the mediocre (spaghetti works) then this is for you. It got weird later as random people would wander in and try to seat themselves. Some getting offended when asked to move. Remember folks always make a reservation if you have more than 2 people and want a table. All in all 5/10 for average. read more

Oh. My. Gosh. So so excited for a new addition to the old market! I've been eagerly waiting for the place to open once I saw the signs in the windows and it didn't disappoint. Our server, Sara was awesome and was doing great despite have a very full busy section. The apps and salad were yummy but the pasta really stole the show. Their lunch pastas are smaller sized so you don't feel so full. We've tried the carbonara, the cacio e Pepe and bucatini amatriciana- they have all been spectacular and so flavorful! I've been wanting to try Cibo Vino since it opened. I am so glad I got the opportunity. The wine selection is great, but the food is amazing. The fresh pasta and salad options are fantastic. I love that there are multiple seating options. You don't feel like you're on top of the table next to you. Defiantly try the small pasta plates if you are not in the mood for a full pasta dinner.
