Ordered steak burrito to eat at the cafeteria. Flavors were good, the steak was thin and burnt. Looked like cooked bacon and sauces were also tasty. Recommend green hot salsa. When ordering the guy didn't acknowledge with a hello or nothing. Asked for no beans on my burrito just for an addition and got no okay anything else. Just blank stares. Same with picking up the food. Especially when going to get our sauces, lady looks at us but nothing no hello or how can i help. I really like their taco salad with the lengua. They have a lot of different options of meats you can choose from. They have tongue, tripe, and beef head which I thought was interesting and rare to find. Their portion was pretty big.The food were ready pretty quickly. I would definitely come back again maybe to try other meats for my taco salad . read more

i ordered 4 steak tacos for me and my lady while she continued to shop due to us rushing. when we left the mall and checked the food there was only (2) and NOT (4) tacos which we paid ($21) even stated on the receipt . we called the store and since I ordered in person and my lady was the one speaking on the phone, the manger insist "maybe the guy who ordered them ate them i don't know" and continued to claim that she "Made Sure" there where (4) tacos . For me, Cilantro was an okay place to get some Mexican food. It definitely looks a bit more fancy than a standard taco place within a mall, and the prices are a little higher to match as well. I do like the overall look and concept of the restaurant, looking modern and feeling a bit more premium. Service was friendly, although it did take several minutes to get food after ordering. The food itself was presented nicely, but the texture and flavor was unmemorable. The flavor combination of the cilantro and onion with the steak and corn tortillas was good -- but it didn't have the extra "wow" factor like extra juicy meat or a delicious sear or combination of spices. Same with the tostada (even with the avocado slice), rice, and beans. Not a bad version, but pretty tame and forgettable. Overall, not a bad place to go if you're looking for a standard set of Mexican favorites. But there are many other fantastic options across Chicagoland. read more

This location was a disappointment to me. Located on the 2nd Level in the food court of the Oak Brook Mall. I was the second person in line waiting to place my order. Which at this particular time it was only another person in front of me and the other person at the counter ordering. The cashier took forever just to take one person's order. Just to sum this review up in a nutshell. The customer service is not good and the food is even worse. I place my order to go and before I left I wanted to make sure my order was accurate. Better than I had anticipated from a food court fast food Mexican place. I was glad when I read on the menu that all things could be made vegetarian. It seemed like they had a pretty good selection too! The line was long and moved a little slow but our food was ready pretty quickly! I got the three tacos dinner which came with beans and rice. The tacos were ok! I think it would be cool if for the vegetarian option they offered some sautéed peppers or something in place of the meat. But I liked the huge avocado slice they had on each taco, was fresh and yummy. The beans and rice were fantastic too, I shared my rice with my sister and she loved it. Part of the problem was they miss packaged the order in front of mine, it was supposed to be "to go" but it was prep'd as "here". There was something else wrong with the order so they had to sort through that, while my order sat in line to go out. That is when I noticed the "help wanted" sign. Service is always fast (even though they are constantly busy), food tastes fresh & the place is clean and inviting. There is a reason this counter has the longest lineup at Oakbrook Center. The ingredients are fresh and the food is authentic. The theory here is that ethnic street food should not be 'Americanized' but reflect the real thing. Just look at the list of ingredients which include lengua, tripas, and cabeza. For the gringos out there this would be tongue, tripe, and Beef head. The last time I had those ingredients was at Las Palmares in the Buena Park neighborhood of Chicago. I'm kind of surprised and a little offended that Cilantro has such a low rating! I work right by the Cilantro in Rosemont, so I'm already a huge fan of the food and feel a little too invested in their business. The meat is fresh and authentic (trust me, I'm Hispanic). Not as good as my grandma's, but definitely better than a random taco place. Everything is prepared well and yet it was decently quick. My favorite menu items are the tacos and salads but the menu is far stretching so don't worry, you'll find something amazing! I'm noticing that the common thread here is time. It's so new, though! I think they are still working on some kinks, but will be up and running in no time.. I have faith! When I went, I'd say we waited about 10minutes, not much longer.. in my mind that's an amazing wait time! Added bonus.. you can drink here! If you want quick Mexican food, this place is not the place to go. For an upscale food court at Oak Brook, this place just didn't meet my expectations. I looked at the other locations' menu and noticed that their dinner combos are $8 so I was surprised to see the menu at Oak Brook which is exactly the same but the dinner combos were $10... not worth $10 when I can go to a different location for the same exact food for $8. My mom got the taco dinner for $10, which comes with rice, beans, and 3 tacos. My mom got the fish (tilapia), steak, and ground beef. I thought the tilapia was decently seasoned. My mom did not like the soft tortillas and wished they had the hard tortillas. She thought the ground beef and steak was okay but she had better Mexican food elsewhere. She wished that she got the sauces on the side, which they didn't even offer to her. There were sauces that were in bottles but no one offered my mom extra condiments to add to her tacos. The refried beans were mushy and I could taste a whole bean in there. I also ordered horchata, which was basic and not sweet enough. Verdict: this place is overpriced (go to other locations for the same exact menu for cheaper prices) and the food was meh. I understand it's fast food but it is located in an upscale shopping center. Go to the Mexican fast food place at Yorktown, which is better than this place. read more

Absolutely horrible experience for a vegan. They proudly display in their menu, with big letters, that all options can be made veggie. I asked the cashier if they add anything extra instead of the meat (most places offer some kind of mix of veggies), but he said "No, but we add more of everything else." I stressed that I was vegan, didn't want the dairy either, and I would appreciate it if they indeed put more of everything else. I added a tip with the hope that they would prepare my meal with care. The first disappointment was that there was a big piece of meat on top of my side order of beans. No problem, I took it off. I bite into the burrito, and I find that it's 85% iceberg lettuce. I completely open one side of the burrito and there's no avocado. I open the other, and there's a smudge of avocado. So, a thin layer of beans, a thin layer of rice, three tiny pieces of tomato (let's say a teaspoon) and two tiny slices of avocado (teaspoon). The side of rice and beans was also smaller than it is in a usual Mexican place. When you people prepare a burrito, does it ever cross your mind that your customer has paid $10 for it? They didn't give me salsa when I got my order, I had to ask for it, and the person who handed it to me seemed annoyed. For this reason I knew that if I went and complained, they'd file my complaint in the "I don't care" cabinet. read more

Just had the worst customer service of my life. I almost thought I was on a hidden camera show. The lady taking my order kept interrupting me and getting my order wrong. I had to repeat myself no less than 5x. FYI- English was her first language so there isn't a language barrier. The order taker replied that I had a bad attitude after I told her she did. I'm a 42 year old man with his wife and kids at the mall and the last thing I want to do is not be gentlemen. The guy before me was picking up his order and he mentioned he ordered sour cream and the lady replied you didn't pay for it, but we can charge you for it. I also overhead the table next to us say they charged them for refried beans that he didn't get. He said he told them the person and their reply is they ran out. He then asked why did you charge me? The food was eh. The fish taco needed sauce for any kind of flavor. I waited 26 minutes for a fish taco plate. The woman who took my order told me there would be about a 5 minute wait. Which I was totally okay with, I could see it was a made to order place. But 26!! Come on. At the 20 minute mark I asked what the hold up was, the employee told me they were busy. And asked if I wanted a refund. A refund!!? I just want my food, girl. At this point I did see the fish FINALLY on the grill so I waited. When I asked to speak with the manager he told me the food is made to order. I told him I appreciated that but that 20 minutes was far too long & that his server told me 5. He apologized but continued with the defense that its "made to order" and that "fish tacos take longer". Really dude?? Fish takes half the time to cook than chicken. What a bs excuse. I told him that if it is SUCH a long time to prepare the employees need to correctly inform customers that's it's a 20 minute wait..not 5. I wouldn't recommend.
