Great service, good food, fun atmosphere. I love the fun orange seating, such a fun vibe and a gorgeous place. Server was great and attentive. We ordered the Mac and cheese, tomato Creole soup, catfish poboy, blt, and pastrami Reuben. Then we got a peace of derby pie. Here are my thoughts. Mac and cheese: great! Super flavorful and cheesey Tomato Creole soup: so flavorful and delicious. Very comforting Catfish poboy: the fish was too bland, I think it had been frozen because I really missed out on that dirt catfish taste. Got the sweet potato fries with it which were amazing. Blt: loved the addition of bell pepper Pastrami Reuben: loved the rye bread and really good, even if a little dry Derby pie: no notes I LOVED it Want to come back some time to try the dinner menu. Really cool vibes here and we loved the food.

No frills diner and a good place to gather. - They will only seat you if your party is together. Because someone who was late in our party who suggested Cindy's, we missed out on a table and sat at the diner. - Lots of menu items to choose from. We went with breakfast before we took the I5 home. - Service was good and timely (and my coffee cup was always full). - There is a parking lot in front with limited spaces. If you can score one, great. The street next to it is narrow so parking might be a challenge and if you can find a spot on Colorado Blvd., that works too!

My family passes by this restaurant every time we come to church in Highland Park. We were hunting for a breakfast spot open before 8 after a Passion Week early morning prayer the other day and were so lucky to stumble upon this hidden in plain sight gem. The vintagey diner feels truly authentic and not like a restaurant dressing up as a diner. Down to the group of old timer friends sitting at the booth in the corner like I'm sure they have for years on end, Cindy's is an establishment in Highland Park. I wasn't expecting much of the food, but let me tell you everything was so delightful. Huevos rancheros, chorizo burrito, and Cindy's sando (with pork belly!!) were all amazing, not to mention the house potatoes were probably the best side of potatoes I've ever had the pleasure of enjoying. I'd highly recommend the Cindy's sando (but be warned it's smaller than you expect - think the side of an english muffin) but packs a flavorful punch in every bite.

I forgot how good this place was! (Last time I was here was during the Pandemic.) Came here on Saturday around 1:30p, no wait. Had the Brisket Reuben - Bread was toasty, so good! (I'd come back just for that.) Coffee was freshly Brewed - one of the main things I look forward to at a diner. Pancakes were light & airy w/syrup that had a little cinnamon-ey flavor to it. My mom had the omelet - eggs were fluffy. Good vibe. I give it an 8 out of 10.

This is the perfect place to have a comfort meal at any time of day. The atmosphere is noisy enough for families but enough to chat with friends. I was able to sit at the counter for my visit. My favorite seat just to observe the dishes coming out hot. Watching pies get sliced and the delicious portions. Best spot to keep your coffee fresh and refilled. The service is welcoming and will share preferences. Breakfast for two was about $50 with two coffees. I definitely would like to come back and review more items for lunch or dinner. Parking gets busy and filled but there are residential streets you can park on just be polite of the residents.

I've been coming to Fox's in Altadena for a long time. I am terribly saddened by its loss in the fires. I used to eat at Firefly in Pasadena, also owned by the same great restauranteur, Paul Rosenbluh. Some research led me to Cindy's in Eagle Rock. What a fantastic coffee shop! Old-fashioned diner atmosphere and lots of good Southern eats. Service is great, decor is adorable, and menu is fantastic. Food is delicious. Cindy's makes me feel like the world was before the Internet. I miss those days. Cindy's brings it back to life.

We were in town for a concert nearby at the Hollywood bowl. Our first evening we checked restaurants nearby and Cindy's had good reviews so we decided to give it a try. We liked the retro feel and the orange booths. We were greeted and seated right away. My friend and I both ordered the roasted chicken with mashed potatoes and a sauteed tomato. The server told us that it would be a 20 minute wait which we knew about in advance . The wait was worth it - the chicken was seasoned to perfection and it exceeded my expectations! For dessert I had the carrot cheese cake and my friend had the blueberry pie warmed up with a dollop of ice cream. Dessert was delicious and topped off a perfect meal.

It was our first time going to this place and it didn't disappoint. I got the mushroom omelette with blue cheese and pesto sauce and it was delicious. The OJ is pretty pricey for the size but it is okay. We will definitely come back with the whole family.

This was my first time coming to Cindy's and it did not disappoint! I ordered the brisket hash and a side order of 1 pancake. My dad ordered the smoked Ruben sandwich. The brisket hash was AMAZING. The flavor of the brisket was delicious along with the veggies! The only thing that I was not a fan of were the beans. I will definitely be ordering the brisket hash again! My dad also really liked his sandwich and the side salad it came with! The pancake also tasted really good! I will definitely be back whenever I am in the area!

    Roasted Mushroom Omelet

Warm energy, delicious food. Got the Roasted mushroom omelet & my son got the pancakes + fries. Best FRIES weve ever had (I'm not being Dramatic) thin, perfectly salted & crispy with skin on. Omelet was delicious, cooked well & flavorful. Really loved the crispy house potatoes. We loved the fluffy pancakes. It has a small parking lot, about 10 tables, bar seating & outdoor seating (was pretty busy during Sat breakfast). Prices are fair and staff was nice.

I loved my farmers market margarita, and seed smoke mezcal cocktail, they were not overly boozy, but had been made with an even blend of flavor and dressed with complimentary ingredients. It remains a unique addition to the neighborhood, as well as a good place to grab some interesting dishes. Since the opening of this particular business, the Zinc chain has opened in a few other locations. Those locations are much newer in not only their establishment but their design. This is not to say that this is still not an interesting, well-designed business, but, with time, it has become a little bit rundown. I hate to say it, but that is the truth. This location could really use an update and perhaps a deep cleaning. I was, in fact, kind of surprised at the condition of this business, for example, on the way towards their restrooms. From my opinion, it needs an clean up and an update. Also, the litter that surrounded some of the outdoor tables where I was sitting at my most recent visit was very surprising. This is just something to keep in mind if you're coming here for your first visit. In terms of what they offer for food, though it has evolved a bit over the years, they still have a great, heath-based menu, with some very interesting choices. For all of you vegetarians and vegans out there, you will, for sure, be able to find some tasty food to eat. Once upon a time, this restaurant was impacted with tons and tons of people. It was constantly full with people either going to the bakery and/or sitting down for table service. Shortly past their opening each day, there would be a line of people waiting for service. This seems to have changed, however. Meaning, if you're looking for an interesting place to eat, with some good dishes, at the far Southeast side of DTLA, near the lofts district, and you want a place without a long wait to get a table and/or your food, this may still be your place to go.

I loved all of the colors in the rice, which include the fried pork belly, the golden egg yolks, and the pigments of the atchara (atchara: pickled vegetables such as papaya, scallions, and carrots). When I took my first bite of the fried rice, the blend of all of them together was scrumptious! Yes order this dish! 5/5 STEAKSILOG: I would order just the steak alone! I have been here a few times for dinner but this was first time for brunch. I made a reservation, was asked to confirmed reservation 3x, noted it was celebrating a birthday and gave no preference on seating. I arrived on time, but one of my group was parking. There were a few people milling around and I was greeted with "checking in?" No hello, no welcome, no mention of celebrating and told to let them know when entire party arrived. (This is becoming more common to be seated along with a $25 per person fee if I canceled less than 24hrs. I know restaurants are struggling but come on!) I watched as 'walk-ins' were given priority tables and when our party was complete, she was squeezing in a 3rd chair to a small cafe table right by the pass through door. No asking our preference. When she returned to seat us, I said "you're not putting us at that small table are you?" Her response - "yes...unless you want to sit inside." How was that not a conversation first? A professional would have said "I apologize, where would you prefer to sit? I see you made a reservation, are celebrating an event and we had some unexpected guests for seating options." Perhaps she was having a bad day, or was still reeling from a prior customer interaction but she was NOT up to the standards I equate with Manuela. Go for the food but don't think by making a reservation you get any special acknowledgement.
