Exceptional dining experience with friendly staff and a delicious menu from steaks to some of the best pasta in town. Our server, Hailee, made our dining experience the best. She recommended excellent menu selections and everything we ordered was spot on. We did order several pasta and steak options to get a well rounded sampling of their menu. Note the pasta items taste even better the next day. Their ribeye and prime rib were excellent too. Both are highly recommended. For dessert their gelato and cheesecake rounded off the evening. Heard about this fancy restaurant for a while and finally come and try it, located in Kakaako at the ground floor of Aalii, according to the waiter, there are guest parkings in the building. (I parked at the theater parking and walk over). The ambiance of the restaurant is very nice, high class. The staffs are very polite and well trained. Very good services over all (but our waiter forgot to bring lemon to my wife and we have to ask him 3 times) their staff explained to us very details about the special for the night, but since this is our first visit, I want to stick to the regular menu. We ordered the oysters, fresh and sweet! The octopus leg cooked to perfect, very tender and just right! Some restaurant over cook it and the texture is not good. The sauce pair with the octopus leg well balance this dish. I ordered the miso butter fish, it was cook to perfect, very moist inside, with all the difference topping on the fish, it provided difference texture when I bite down into it. My wife ordered the squid ink spaghetti, with seafood, it was good but my wife feels the texture of the spaghetti is somewhat difference to what she use to have before. My wife and I decided to celebrate our 12th year wedding anniversary at Cino. Let's start with food. We ordered the charred Spanish octopus. The octopus was cooked to perfection and wasn't chewy or tough to eat. Great flavor. The Tuna Tartar with wasabi Tuile I could've easily eaten 3 more of the same order. The fish and sauce was perfect. The crispy rice was one of my favorites. The sliced Cerranos with a squeeze of lime on top of the Hamachi was the perfect bite. Half aged half roast duck meat was so tendered and the cauliflower on the side was delicious. 6 oz of wagyu beef was cooked perfectly and was very tender and juicy. Crispy garlic potatoes caught me by surprise. I didn't think I was going to like it, but the crispy exterior and soft potato inside I could not stop eating them! I believe the music was a little on the louder side and sounded like house music and naturally that makes people talk a little louder, but my wife and I really didn't care for it because we could still hear ourselves but there were times where it did get a little too loud and if you want a very quiet atmosphere it may not be your jam. As they are new, I noticed that our main course did take a little longer than expected from the time we got our appetizers. But the wait and food didn't disappoint. We understand that they are making improvements and I will say that our waitress was on it and doing the best she could as it got busier. Beautiful little spot hidden to the left of ward theater center. They have outdoor/indoor but we sat indoor. The service was on spot on Professional. Courteous, patient, and knowledgeable. However for the price I was a bit disappointed. We got the Charred octopus, chaceuteri, kampachi carpaccio, beet salad, crab spaghetti, squid noodle thing, tiramisu and the fish. If I was rating it based on just the kampachi, fish, and octopus it's be a full 5 stars. However , beet salad was hardly a salad despite being ok, the crab spaghetti noodles were hard, the tiramisu was small and mediocre. Great food, service and ambiance here. Clearly management and their staff are happy and work well as a team despite the craziness of just opening. I have been here several times the last few weeks as I am a Ward area resident. I have sat at their bar every time so I can only speak on my experience at the bar. For a new place I would think they have many details to iron out, but I have been so pleased every time. Food, cocktails and service has been on point. Went to dinner with friends. There were 8 of us on a Thursday night. We were seated promptly, but service was slow and while it's a fine dining restaurant service, service was slow comparatively. I had the drink special and while it was good, serving size was very small. I ordered the octopus appetizer as my meal and the $18 twice baked potato (I had Ube pancakes for lunch, I digress). Octopus was among the best I've ever had, tender & flavor, I cut it with a butter knife. But the potato, OMG!!! Baked, then whipped and broiled, seasoned well and topped with pancetta and crème fraiche; each bite was decadent!!! The negatives: it's pricey (my 3 items were $75, I didn't have an entree), it SUPER NOISY so much so we had to YELL to be heard very distracting, and our service was just ok, the waitress disappeared at times, never checked on us. read more

The service was excellent. Our server was JR, I think, super knowledgeable on the menu. He wasn't pushy at all. Let us take our time figuring out what we were going to have. The ambiance was very nice wife, and I enjoyed. The food... we had a choice of having their pasta selections or the meats. We chose to keep it light and went with the pastas (gives us a reason to go back). We started with the oysters, which were delicious. The octopus was tender and tasty with the sauce adding a different flavor. The Prosecco Mignonette was a hit with the oysters on the seafood platter. Next time would just go with oysters instead of the seafood platter. We wanted the twice baked potato after seeing all the favorable reviews and it didn't disappoint. I said yes. ( a fine dining restaurant asking if $8 price tag is ok?) The veal ossobucco was very average in taste and rubbery, not even close to the fall off the bone as it should be. Cino is one of Honolulu's newest and sexiest Italian restaurants. The interior design is absolutely stunning with beautiful furniture and eye catching textiles. The vibes are immaculate making it the perfect spot for your next date night. Every dish we shared was delicious and the standouts were the Charred Spanish Octopus, Romaine, and Rigatoni Bolognese. Unfortunately, they were out of the Fritto Misto and Onaga Sashimi but we'll be back to try those next time. The wine list is elevated and definitely more expensive compared to most restaurants we regularly dine at but we loved the bottle we selected. Overall the service was good but our waitress could've been a little bit more attentive. The only reason why this wasn't five stars is because we felt like it wasn't worth over a $400 meal compared to other dining experiences we have enjoyed recently at that price point. read more

What's the saying? "You never forget the way someone makes you feel." We live a five minute walk from Cino's and I have been waiting to give it a try. I have been to Cino's twice now. Once on Christmas Eve and once on New Year's Eve - 5pm. The first visit was just my daughter and I. We waited over 30 mins for any food (appetizer) to hit our table. We actually stopped timing it once we got to 30mins. Meanwhile the larger table next to us was overly attended to and received multiple dishes of food before we received even one of our dishes. The waiting staff was super attentive to THAT table while the same server stopped by our table once to apologize for the wait. We received our food finally, all which was pretty good. I did ask for a small plate so that I could take my pasta, crab spaghetti, out of the puddle of oil it was sitting in (I first asked it that was normal for the dish, she said it was). We had ordered an additional dish for takeout but towards the end of our meal it seemed the staff at the greeting desk (a gentleman and two ladies) just kept staring at our table, it was uncomfortable. I paid and waited outside for the takeout. My daughter and I left feeling just okay but eager to return thinking the length of time it took to receive our food and lack of attentive service issues may have just been due to the busyness of the restaurant. However after our visit today, I will choose not to return to Cino's in the near future. There is a clear sense of "priority" amongst the people eating in this restaurant. We had the privilege of being the table "less" noticed again meanwhile we were sat right by the table of what seemed to be a special VIP. The table had multiple visits from different staff members of the restaurant. Staff stopping by to ask if they were okay. Multiple staff members stopping by to introduce themselves. Multiple staff members bringing out dishes and explaining menu items. Another staff member who came out to hand shred truffles on their dish.... Did I miss something???? What dish had truffles? I must have missed that!!! We had the special, 1 pound of crab, tonight. I have eaten in many of restaurants and this was by far the worst crab I have EVER eaten. Overcooked and overdressed. BUT the major problem here is.... you never forget the way someone makes you feel!!!! Myself and my family left the restaurant this evening feeling bleh about the food and feeling extra bleh about the service. Sad! Look, I know we were there for a good time, but....... Server was thorough with service, but he did drop the ball a few times on our drinks. The worst kicker is how he kind of upsold the special ("cino pinwheel" - READERS: ASK FOR THE PRICE) against the $29 agnolotti that my friend was gonna order.............. the special was $77 without any mention. I thought by looking at the prices of the pasta, since it was just a cheese pasta that it would be similarly priced or at most in the $40s since it was a chef's daily special. I rarely get sticker shocked. Yes, it was on us to ask, but I felt the server could have mentioned it. Our bill up to that point was already dipping near $400 with apps and drinks. We took it gracefully and tipped accordingly, but it prompted me to send out a word of advice to you Yelpers as I rarely post reviews these days. It's odd how some items are priced reasonably, others slightly over, and yet seafood seems to be their moneymaker. I'm in the food procurement industry (and also cook) so am a bit jaded but I also eat out regularly so know what I'm facing. Menu prices are all over the place. Most apps were done well. Skip the Romaine (overdressed and idk what kind of Caesar that was supposed to be a spinoff of - side note, was in Seoul last week and had a Korean-made Italian meal where the Caesar was $10 but the best I'd had in a while because the dressing was different). Seafood tower looked abundant for its price point (skip the king upgrade). Pastas definitely worth it. We didn't do entrees. Full bar, prices ranged from affordable to OMG... lol idk what their shtick is but it's good that you can eat $50 a head up to $300 a head. Guess where my meal landed lmao. I'd definitely go back but definitely be wiser about it. Oh ya - outdoor dining would be nice but too many residents constantly walking past (they should put up a divider for more privacy), but the worst were the mosquitos....... I'd dip it down to 3 stars due to their cloaked specials and not giving up pricing, but that's just on the server and comes down to points of service. Overall they deserve a 4. Starting with our server JR who was a class act. He explained quite a few of Cino's staff is from Vegas and with them comes excellent service. The Beet appetizer was put together well with salty goat cheese balanced with citrus from grilled oranges and aged balsamic vinegar. The special of the day gnocchi ala vodka w/ sausage was surprisingly light yet flavorful. The pan seared scallops were not our favorite of the night, but still cooked perfectly served with a coconut curry cauliflower puree. The decor is classy and business casual attire is encouraged. I really liked the ambiance of this place! Went here on a date night so I thought the vibe was perfect. Our waiter was not the most attentive person but there was another person (not sure if he was a busser?) who was not our waiter but was constantly checking in on us to make sure we were okay and had all of our items. The crispy rice hamachi and twice baked potato were really good. Probably the best dishes of the night. The potato was surprisingly really filling, too. I personally liked the duck but my boyfriend was indifferent about it. We both weren't huge fans of the pasta and thought it was just okay. It was also quite expensive for two of us (granted we did order 4 dishes and a drink) but I thought it was nice to splurge for a special occasion. Very dissapointing experience. This is a pricey, newer restaurant in the Ward area. The atmosphere is very loud and crowded. Two top tables are very close together. Do not plan on being able to have a relaxed conversation. On arrival, the hostess was very nice and acknowledged that we were there for my wife's birthday. Our server (Dylan) was charming, but failed to give us any guidance on the menu. In particular, he should have mentioned that the small pinwheel, truffle pasta was $77, since there is no price on the menu. This dish was appetizer sized, but was delicious. At half the price, it would have been reasonable and satisfying. I understand that truffles are pricy, but Taormina has an excellent truffle dish for under $40. Beet salad was very good. The real disappointment was the $88 veal chop. It had no flavor and was cut too thin. The veal probably came from Whole Foods next door and cost under $15. Also disappointing was that our waiter did nothing for my wife's birthday. Some sort of dessert or drink for a special occasion is always offered. For over $125 per person, we expect much more. Decided to try out this restaurant for a much needed catchup date with my best friend. Our reservation was at 6:30pm and the restaurant was filled with people. We were greeted by two lovely hostesses and promptly seated. DRINK REVIEW: I enjoyed the Merrakesh Express. This was delicious - a little spicy kick with tartness. I generally enjoy tequila based drinks so I ordered this and I'm totally glad I did. My friend got the Laguna Rose. The cocktail menu is plentiful of different flavors and ingredients. Kudos to the mastermind behind this cocktail menu. The cocktails avg $18 which is more on the expensive side, but I can only assume the cost of having amazing location and the amount of ingredients in the cocktails influenced the price. FOOD REVIEW: For the food, we ordered the kampachi, seared scallops, and braised beef cheek. The kampachi was a refreshing appetizer and the yuzu ginger vinaigrette was delicious and the finger lime added a nice sour flavor. Texture wise, the radish is a great choice. For the seared scallops, the flavors of coconut, lemongrass, and basil made an amazing sauce. We were disappointed by the seasoning of the scallops. It was too salty and the flavors ended up not balancing well. For the braised beef cheek, the beef was very soft and the flavor was typical of a braised beef. It was where the salsa verde was. The bone marrow was an added bonus presentation wise, but didn't really add to the flavor profile? It didn't elevate the dish in my opinion. But I applaud the head chef for creating a menu full of different flavor profiles. It is truly a diverse menu. SERVICE REVIEW: Our server, Chris, was friendly. He introduced himself and gave us time to take a look at the menu. We ordered our drinks, then appetizer and entrees once he came back with our drinks. Unfortunately, we didn't get any recommendations on both food and drinks. As a new restaurant, I personally would provide some sort of guidance and recommendations. For example: for drinks, I would point out a sweet drink vs refreshing drink so the guests could imagine the flavor of the drinks. I know this might not be important to many people but as a server, the guests dining experience can be the biggest factor in whether they return to the restaurant. Personally as a server myself, I think he could improve on things like providing recommendations and touching the tables more frequently. Furthermore, the time it took for our appetizer to come out and then the additional time it took from finishing the appetizer to getting our entrees was just too long. I don't think it was the kitchen's fault either. I think our server didn't time the ordering well. By the end of our meal, we were 2 hours into our reservation. It's kind of a long time to me personally. OVERALL, I am sad because I believe the execution could be better, especially for the price we paid. To put in perspective, two cocktails, an appetizer, and two entrees came out to $158, with tip ($30), we each paid $94. We've been waiting anxiously for the grand opening and it did not disappoint! First the food... beef tartare was melt in your mouth and addicting, the octopus was tender and smoky, crab and uni spaghetti was a brilliant combo and cooked to perfection, we finished with the steak which was super memorable too (and of course my husband's favorite). I'm craving it now as I'm thinking of it. I wanted to try dessert but I was too full but I did have an espresso of their proprietary blend from Coffee Purveyors which was so creamy and smooth. I'm not usually a cocktail person but I loved the drink I tried called the Laguna. Not too sweet, sparky and with cool surprise of pink peppercorns! I never would've put them together but it was so tasty. Others in our group loved all the ones they tried too (sorry forgot the names). The atmosphere had an eclectic and hip vibe with Warhol art and animal print and antique tea cups! I hope to be that cool just by drinking at the bar lol! Parking was a breeze.
