My car broke down and I had it towed to this garage. All it needed was a new battery terminal but they ended up sending me a quote for around $3700 worth of other stuff. I had just gotten a new battery the night before it was towed to the shop and the tow truck driver even tested the battery before he towed me and said it was full. This garage told me that the battery was completely dead and needed a new battery. I declined and took it to autozone who tested the battery and they also said that the battery was completely full. The prices on the quote seemed quite high (around $600) for spark plugs for example. I would not recommend. read more

My warranty insured car needed a transmission. They did not work with my warranty, and I had to pay about $150 out of pocket while they sat on it for 2 weeks. They told me that they would contact the warranty company and not to worry about it. I had to use Lyft to get anywhere. So that is a high bill. During the next 2 weeks I finally had to get involved and contact the warranty, (Ally) where they discovered taking it to It to Nissan of McKinney was actually going to be cheaper. They fixed it. And it took them less than 4 days total. And they provided a loaner car. City Garage remained firm in getting their "diagnostic fee" before I got my key. Seems the parts over pricing here is still high, and now..it seems their labor rate is just about at the dealer level. They do really good work here, which is why it's still 3 stars. I might have to start spreading some of the smaller stuff around to other shops due to the cost here. Covid-19? They have up plexiglass...that's it. I went another auto repair shops, they all told me City Garage charged me "DOUBLE" and didn't do any balance of my tires. I made the mistake and took my truck to Kwik kar to try to get it done "cheap". Picked up my truck and was in worse condition then I dropped it off. On my way home I dropped my truck off at city garage and explained the situation, these people do quality work and good detail "you get what you pay for" They go above and beyond to explain the problem. Overall, pretty good! Had 2 things repaired but it took quite some time due to their slow response and lack of follow up. I always have to call them for updates. However, they are very willing to work with you on pricing - you just need to open your mouth and ask for it. Worse case scenario, it's a NO but it doesn't cost you anything to ask! This location did not give me a fair treatment nor an honest one. I came in for a car inspection which was failed for an absurd fallible reason. They said the belts (ac and drive) of my car were extremely cracked and that was the sole reason they failed my car. They then proceeded to tell me they could fix it for 177$. Well the product only costs 30-40$ and it's not difficult to replace, but they definitely were trying to take advantage of a female college student whom seemingly knew nothing about inspections nor cars. Fact: you cannot fail a car for a cracked belt. However, you can fail it for a severed belt. Also, my belts were not heavily cracked, they're only two years old. I drive maybe 6-7k miles a year. I would not recommend anyone (esp. women since they deliberately give us fake excuses to "require" more of our business with them) to do business with this scam of a business. I went here for oil change first thing on a Saturday morning, cuz I don't like to spend all day at any shop, even dealership services. I was hesitant at first but I went anyway, and these guys were polite, great customer service, clean seating area but smaller. Just your neighborhood mechanic shop. I love it and love how they took care of it very fast and perfect. I was contemplating on going to my dealership at 121 /Allen, VW dealership but was not happy with all the money they took from me for a repair. I went in for one service and was called later in the day about another issues, was pressured to repair it and I really love this ride, my work buddy, come rains or snows, this baby will be ready anytime anywhere.I paid this guys about $1200 cld not notice the difference. Was a total games dealership or mechanic ppl play. My car has not had any issues since I bought it new 09. I panicked so bad that I went and got another car for fun and I have to pay all that shit with two cars But this ppl did exactly what I asked them to do, not been noisy with other ideas . They were very nice first to gain my trust, but after so much $$$ I had to spend here and there for non major repairs and later found out that they told me to replace something that did not need to be replaced(I'm a female person of color), I decided not to go there anymore. I felt that I was overcharged on God knows how many repairs and things that didn't need to be repaired etc. I didn't want to be ripped off any longer. It's not a good feeling. Love these folks. Went in because both our brake lights were out. They recognized us from having just drove by most every day. Everyone was very friendly and made us feel like old friends. They were very quick to fix the brake lights. We were in and out in maybe 10-15 minutes total. These guys are honest. One of the brake lights was being a bit tricky and for a moment we thought they might have to do an expensive electric diagnosis on it. But they just worked and got the tricky brake light to cooperate. They didn't charge a penny. I was so surprised. They just said, next time you need something, just come here! And we absolutely will. Needed a new AC system, three parts, the works really and they were able to fix everything within 48 hours. I was hoping for a quicker turn around but they had some issues securing the part from the dealership. Eventually the part needed to be ordered and delivered. Two months in and the AC is working well, I look forward to staying cool in the North Texas heat this summer. I had left the car early on a Wednesday morning and advised of the engine light code. I call back around noon and the store manager stated "It was about a 5-hour job to get into it and research it further." I called Thursday afternoon and the manager was off and the man that answered told me they had not finished with the breakdown. I called at the opening Friday morning and the Manager said he was 'off yesterday and would call me back when he checks on it." At 11:30 I decided to go and check firsthand the status and as expected NOTHING had been done. Two and one-half days they had the car and NOTHING done. This may have been the first Store City Garage Opened but it seems near impossible they have lasted this long with such a pathetic lack of honesty or service. Okay I've been going to City Garage for awhile now and they continue to deliver. Friendly and professional staff. Highly competent technicians getting the job done and done right. Had an issue with the read drive train components and after a couple of hours of taking everything apart and assessing the wear and tear I was given a more than fair quote for parts and labor. Was informed it would take a day (possibly longer due to potential parts availability) to get everything done. To say these guys pulled a Scotty (Star Trek fans will know the reference) would be an understatement - repairs were completed that day and vehicle was ready for pickup early evening! Unfortunately I couldn't get off work to pick it up but that sort of turnaround is awesomely fast. Brought my truck in for a ticking noise. They repaired one set of lifters $1300 (mostly labor). The ticking was less but still there when I go to pick it up. Problem was that the other set were bad as well, and rather than fix both set of lifters (while they have the valve cap off) they want to charge me another $1300 to fix the other set. They are good and cost as much as a dealership, but I would think the dealership at least wouldn't double dip, but I guess business is business. read more

I'd been to several mechanics and even had one leave the ABS light on(I actually thought the car just malfunctioned). The CITY GARAGE was the last one I was going to try to fix my car's multiple issues that kept popping up after visiting different mechanics. Not only did they fix every single problem they also fixed the ABS light issue that I wasn't even aware of for free. My car actually ended up not working after the repairs were done, and I was informed it was that the fuel pump just stopped working. The labor was done for free, but I had to pay for the part. I'm visiting Dallas from Chicago. I took a road trip with my husband, my Mom, 16 year old, 3 year old, and 10 month old. We experienced some car trouble during our trip. My husband was able to fix some of it. Our air conditioner went out on a 100 degree day. He thought he could fix that too. We went to Auto Zone in Plano to buy the stuff he thought he needed to repair, but after explaining the issue the Auto Zone tech suggested a repair shop. He didn't think it was a simple fix. We were going to go to a place close by but the Auto Zone employee said "No...Go to City Garage. I wouldn't trust the place down the street with putting air in my tire". That's how we came here. The service here was AMAZING. We arrived in the late afternoon. My husband explained our air situation to the lady at the counter. I think her name was Danisha. She said she would have our car looked at right away. She thought it was dangerous for anyone especially a family with an elderly person and small kids riding around in Texas with no air on such a hot day. We walked to McDonalds while it was being checked. Turns out Auto Zone guy was right. It was a bigger issue that was going to take hours to repair. City Garage had a car take myself and kids back to the hotel. They could see they were getting restless. They helped us get our car seats out of our suv to place into theirs. Our hotel was in Garland so we had to drive about 25 min. Our driver went above and beyond. My husband stayed at the shop so when we got to our hotel our City Garage driver helped us unload our car seats and stuff. He even walked into the hotel to ask for someone to help us take our stuff upstairs. He also recommended a restaurant close by for us to have dinner. I wanted to tip him, but I didn't have cash. I texted my husband to do so when he got back to the shop. My husband thanked him again, but he kept refusing our tip. Such a genuine and stand up guy. We are beyond satisfied with our repairs and the service here. If I'm ever in the area I would definitely bring my car here again. read more

Initially we were referred to City Garage by AAA's preferred auto service program (non-insurance repairs.) Graham and staff are excellent, and always answer the phone when you first call. they will give you a solid quote if you know what you want done or what the problem is. When you call for status it seems like everyone knows what stage your repairs are at, or can find out ASAP. Repairs are completed quickly and if there is a delay they know how long and why. As to mentions of pricing they may be a bit higher than competitors but you also get a two year warranty on parts and labor. Thanks to a bad switch (OEM Ford part, not the shop's vendor) we've been back a few times on one car. They take it in, swap the part, and searched for alternatives for the future. That's what you pay for, a good repair and a guarantee that is hassle free. They are also comprehensive in their safety checks. They aren't going to shake you down for additional repairs that aren't warranted either. On one car they found a timing chain about to let go. The maintenance repair cost a whole lot less than a new engine when that puppy died on the highway. This is my go to shop, even though it's a bit away from my home and work. If you want it done right, and you want it to stay right this is your shop. Maintenance isn't cheap, but it sure saves money in the long run if you're dedicated to keeping a vehicle for the long haul. read more

I took my car recently for repairs and they quoted me very high prices for some work that was not even needed...$980 for a BMW electric water pump without labor, where another shop stated no codes were coming from the pump and even if they were, the pump would cost $560. They said that I needed new spark plugs...another shop said I did not as they looked to have been replaced and were in good shape, which was true...that repair would have been approaching $400. Also their labor rate at $165 per hour is very high. I very much question their honesty and integrity. Update on the cooling system work...just picked up my BMW from an honest repair shop and the cost with labor was $383.74...only needed an expansion tank hose, an upper radiator hose and one gallon of premium coolant/antifreeze...the City Garage coolant system estimate was for a total of $2,266.46 that included an electric coolant pump, coolant pressure test/flush2 pack and 2 gallons of coolant/antifreeze, engine coolant hose, engine coolant reservoir and cap, and a coolant expansion tank...the other shop tested and looked at everything and said that I didn't need or require most of those items and labor...now who is the morally correct and honest shop...City Garage Plano or the repair shop that actually honestly evaluated the coolant system and performed the required repairs?? read more

Went in for an oil change late on a Saturday afternoon. They were busy. Said it was a 1 hour wait, but were able to do it in 35 minutes, while I waited. They accepted a Yelp coupon for $5 which helped. I had been pulled over for my brake lights earlier in the week. I fixed the lights myself, but they checked out all my lights for free. Most car repair places are open only M-F, so this was really convenient. These guys are honest. Good place to get your car fixed. read more
