City Pizza has descent pizza. Their service was good and I liked their crust. However, this past visit has discouraged me from ordering there ever again. I placed an order for pick up. I went down there and as I was waiting for one of the employees to get off of the phone and help me I watched one of the workers in the back stuff a handful of shredded cheese into his mouth as he was making a pizza. Some of the cheese he stuffed into his mouth had fallen out. He then came out to help me, because the other employee was still on the phone, with a piece of cheese on the side of his lip. I looked at him and said "No thank you" and walked out. Looks like I'll be ordering Pizza My Heart or Mountain Mike's from now on. read more

Review for Pizza by the slice - dine in only! Walking in, there was a guy on the phone standing at the front desk. he didnt even look up to acknowledge my presence. I ordered when he got off the phone, but he was def a grumpy pants. The decor of this place is from circa 1990, prob just as long as the pizza by the slices has been sitting out. There is no display case of pizza by the slice, its all kept in the back somewhere. you have two options: cheese or pepperoni. 5 mins later, my 2 slices of cheese pizza were served. the cheese looked old and unexciting. it wasn't that gooey stringy type cheese i was hoping for. maybe ill give this place another chance for carry out, but i would never get pizza by the slice here again. read more

He and I have different tastes in pizza, he only wants olives on his pizza, I go for beef and pineapple (hey, don't judge). The answer? One extra small and one medium. If you like your pizzas extra cheesy, then City Pizza probably isn't your best bet. But there was definitely enough cheese there to please most people. I also thought the sauce was quite tasty and the sesame seeds on the crust? Inspired, I tell you. I got lots of beef and pineapple and the kid had plenty of olives (what is wrong with that child??). A coworker shared his Hawaiian pizza with me during lunch, and I fell in love. It's been a long time since I've seen a personal pan that was so big and with so much toppings! I wanted to share the experience with the boyfriend. Being adventurous, we got the Chicken Supreme, which is basically bbq chicken pizza. As soon as I ordered it, I became afraid. What had I gotten myself into?! When I arrived to pick it up, the pizza was so pretty and glistening gold that I could hardly motivate myself to break the perfect circle and grab a slice. Tasty pizza! My husband and I were in the area and popped in here and ordered a mushroom, pepperoni, and artichoke pizza with garlic cheese bread. All tasted great! And they get a huge plus for stocking artichoke hearts. Garlic cheese bread was the right amount of crispy and soft. The only thing that I personally didn't care for was the crust. It reminded me of a hamburger bun with the sesame seeds. I like pizza crust so I may be a little more judge-y then others. Pizza and cheese garlic bread was a little over 20 bucks. But they are quick and had the pizza ready within the 15 minutes they told us. Staff was nice and answered any questions we had. We'll most likely return when were in the area. read more

The quality of their pizza has always been consistent, the sesame seed topped crust is amazing, and it's always delivered hot and on time (usually within 30 to 45 mins). I've been eating their pizza every now and then for about a year. The pizza is really tasty. They put sesame seeds around the edge of the crust, which I like, but if you don't like sesame seeds then you should ask them to hold the sesame seeds. One time they didn't have Diet Coke, so they gave me Diet Pepsi instead. Shock and horror, but I survived. Overall a consistently good experience with this place. Sort of a local feel. They've been there for like 20+ years. I can't think of a really good reason not to give 5 stars other than irrational conservatism. read more

I ordered a medium combo pizza and cheesy garlic bread online. The website they use for ordering is a little confusing as you can get lost in the jumble of words from confirmation email (I chose pick up, but I'm surprised I didn't get a phone call to confirm a time to pick up). It would have been nice timing-wise because when we got the pizza, it was only warm like it had be sitting for a while (we picked it up between a half hour and 45 min after I had ordered it). It wasn't fantastic, but it was satisfying. I appreciate the fact that it's local place to get a quick pizza. Walking into the place to pick up the pizza, it was pretty bare besides tables and chairs, but what do you expect from a local pizza place? This isn't exactly a "hangout spot" that encourages patrons to stay long. read more

Just had a slice and it was really good! I prefer thick crust and this was not real thick but not thin... The crust is not chewy and tough... Very tender and the sauce was good... First time ordering here. I called in for pick up. I've been wanting to try their pizza since I moved in on January since it's walking distance. I ordered an extra-large pizza half pepperoni & half pepperoni and pineapple. Once I got there I had to wait 5 mins & the lady worker was nice. When I got there it was just me as a customer, but minutes later many ppl started coming in on picking up their pizza. My pizza costed $21.99 but I mentioned that on yelp that I saw any large or larger pizza you get $3 off. So it was around $18. On yelp it'll also mention on the menu on yelp there's deals. They have a rewards card that I found about there when I saw it & asked the lady about it. Its card that is not only for city pizza but for other restaurants that are participating as well. I received 18 points since i spent around $18. Their crust on the pizza has sesame seeds & its an interesting touch to it. I'm a fan. The best pizza in San Jose and Campbell -- EASILY! The pizza is always fresh and the crust is so soft. I can't tell you how many times we have ordered pizza from other nearby places and it feels like you are biting into a loaf of stale French bread. City Pizza puts sesame seeds on their crust as well, which is absolutely delicious. The owner is a really nice guy as well which makes the experience that much better. First time I had two pizzas delivered. They said 45 minutes but it only took them like 20. Tipped driver in cash as he was incredibly nice for driving out in the rain. I'm sure that wasn't a fun night for him. Ordered the City Combo, pretty much a supreme pizza based on the order taker's recommendation. Got a free one topping pizza so naturally I chose pepperoni. Both pizzas were hot, large in size, with great value. I didn't think I'd like the sesame seed crust as I have never been a fan of those seeds, but I found it really tasty! All of my roomies liked it too! New pizza spot! Second time was on a Sunday. We were starving, watching football, but I noticed online that says you get a free 2 liter if you pick it up. Sold! I place the same order and it's hot and ready 15 minutes later. Third time was a delivery night. Yes, yet again same order but I sent roomie to pick it up. Order taker didn't want to allow my roomie to pick it up, even though I just paid for the pizzas over the phone via credit card. She put me on hold to ask the manager, whom naturally said it was fine. She got the free 2 liter too. This place is great! I had the City Special here which was awesome, even though I don't like bell peppers (forgot to ask them to leave these out). The crust is good, and it has a perfect amount of cheese. The parking lot is pretty big but the restaurant probably cannot accommodate a huge party, in case you might be wondering. SESAME SEED CRUST! Any pizza place that puts sesame seeds on the crust knows what is up. They have the tastiest crust of all the pizza joints! The sauce is really good, not too sweet like a lot of other places, and they have an awesome carryout deal, 1 large one-topping pizza for 9.95, and that large pizza is definitely big enough for 3-4 adults. My only gripe is that the cheese sometimes has issues sticking to the pie, but that could be because I never let it cool before I start eating. read more

Mediocre/sub-par pizza overall - if I did a blind taste test of Pizza Hut vs. City Pizza, I wouldn't be able to tell the difference. You know it's a bad sign when you have to peel back the cheese on the pizza to verify whether or not tomato sauce is present. I ordered a personal garden pizza (6" diameter). The selection of vegetables atop it was solid - tomatoes, onion, bell pepper, olives, but the overall product was rather tasteless. The most important element of a good pizza to me is the sauce, and this pizza barely had any; as a result, the cheese didn't taste too moist. The crust was decent, as I liked the addition of sesame seeds. Overall, if this pizza weren't $6.99, I wouldn't have ordered it. There's several delicious pizza joints in South Bay that are worth the additional $5-6. read more
