I have been to New Orleans numerous of times and CLAWS hands down has better Cajun food! I am waiting for CLAWS to expand to So. OC. Sorry, gotta mention Boiling Crab as the benchmark. Better than Boiling Crab because not as crowded and closer to my house. I don't have to wait or drive. If you like Boiling Crab you'll love this place too. We ordered crawfish, mussels and shrimp with baguets and cold beer. We ordered it mild because most of our party was middle-aged white bread but mild was still pretty spicy. Glad I had the cold beer and the baguet. The shrimp were huge and the mussels were fresh. The crawfish were a little dissapointing but they are out of season so what do you expect. This is one of my favorite spots to eat when I am with my girlfriend. I say this because I am not a shrimp eater, and my girlfriend is. She can enjoy her shrimp while I enjoy a clam chowder soup, cajun wings, and cajun fries. Their crab cakes are good as well. The service is top notch. Plenty of televisions to watch a game. This is definitely a cool place to bring a lot of friends and family to. My girlfriend and I have been here twice so far. We are definitely coming back again and again. read more

Claws has won me over, and I've been a Boiling Crab junkie for years :,( to be perfectly honest, it's their (crack) SAUCE. It's filled with garlic pieces and actually FILLED with sauce and not oil (BC's sauce has skimped out on body and uses too much oil). Their service is also A+, I never struggle trying to get a waiter's attention. Also-they actually have a bar and beers on draft!! I just turned 21 so it's a huge plus for me. Still love this place although I waited almost 2 hours to eat..... the staff here annoying, somewhat. Groups who put their name down AFTER my group were seated BEFORE us, even though we both had 3-4 in our group. WTF? To start off, the food here is still amazing. I choose it over boiling crab anyday. They don't charge you for water, unlike BC. The sauces are still similar and they have the same sides, such as corn, sausages (so yummy), rice, etc. The cajun fries are also very good. I'm docking off a star because of the service I received from my last visit. Our waitress seemed pissed off for no reason, and when she took our order she told me that if I ordered extra sauce if would come in a cup. I'm like "ok, whatever..I'll just pour it into the bag" and then when my food comes out I don't see my extra sauce or the side of rice my friend ordered. I waited 5 mins or so until she finally came to the table when she told me that the extra sauce was already in the bag (which she should've mentioned when she gave us our food, right?!) and she completely forgot about the rice. Last thing, Claws has more items on their menu like pasta dishes and ribs. I probably wouldn't order those things here, because it's a seafood place..but still it's nice to have more options. I used to go to this restaurant a lot but since my little incident with them a few months ago, I refuse to give them any of my money. I had friends from Ohio visited few months ago. They were dying to try crawfish because they dont have it over there and they heard so much about this place from me. We came in two groups. There were 6 of us total. Group 1 arrived first around 9:30 p.m. They told us we cant sit down until the whole group get there. We were like "but you guys are not even busy and its about closing time. what's the big deal? We can go ahead and order first so the second group wont have to wait for food". They didnt allow us so we were like Ok, fine. My friends got lost on the way so we were afraid that the kitchen may close by the time they arrive so we went back in and asked to order. It was 9:45 p.m and they told us they were closed. We were so mad. The sign outside said they closed at 10. We were hungry and mad. what kind of restaurant is it?? They do not want to sell their foods . I figured all the servers were too LAZY to serve. well, that was the last time I've been there. if they want to make it so hard for me to give them my money, I guess I will be Ok with it. read more

I've been here on a couple occassions, but most recently with my gf after we watched Life of Pi. It's can hold its own in comparison to boiling crab, but i felt like the food wasnt as good as the last time i went here. At-First-Glance: If you're turning into the plaza from the light don't get confused with its previous location on the corner; it has its own building now regardless of the sign still being up. Noise level is pretty loud, so don't expect to have an intimate conversation here. Service: Service is pretty good, waiters are on top of their stuff here, they bring out the food pretty quickly and are good on refills. We had a mishap the other day with the check, had to wait about 15 minutes before we got it but that may have been due to miscommunication. Food: Shrimp: Shrimp was just OK when i had it, the cooking was inconsistent with some of them i felt since the inside of a few were softer than the rest. The sauce was really salty too, they couldve diluted it a bit more so it wasn't overpowering. Fried Okra: These were sub par at best, in terms of "fried" okra. The batter on the outside was pretty soggy and didnt have that crunch im used to with fried okra. The okra itself was good though, but the batter is what killed this for me. Shipwreck: This is a mixture of different fried seafood and when i had it was good! The batter was just right, had a nice crunch to it and the seafood wasnt tough or chewy and still had some juices! Sausages: sausages are good, nothing to rave about, thrown in with the rest of the seafood so it soaked up the sauces. Would recommend if you want a small portion of meat on the side with your seafood. Not bad for 1.99 Overall: This place is good, better to go here than wait for boiling crab! Seafood is just as good here on most occassions so i'd definitely recommend it! 3 stars! read more

my rating is 4.5 stars because of some wait time ...but not as bad as boiling crab. I love claws better compared to boiling crab. their seasoning is way much delicious. it has a lot of garlic, lemon, butter, and secret seafood seasoning. At boiling crab, their seasoning is too powdery. my husband and I choked coughed many times swallowing that powdery seasonings that boiling crab uses. At Claws their shrimps are way bigger and fresher. I think people are noticing this now, wait for 25-30 mins exist but not at long as boiling crab. If you are a seafood lover, this is the place. We can chow down 4 lbs. of seafood very easily with their bottomless passion fruit iced tea. read more

Crayfish were on the small side, next time I might just order all shrimp and mussels. That's where they get you with the nickel and diming $1 extra/lb of shrimp, $2 for pre peeled. $3 for four pieces of 3" corn... I think they even charged extra for extra sauce on the side. They were busy when we last went, so you can definitely feel the waiter rushing you into placing your order. That's probably how the bill got ran up, he was asking us if we wanted this or that without letting us know it would be an extra charge. That's our fault though, for not telling him to come back so we could take our time with the menu. Also, their website states 15% gratuity automatically added for a party of 7+, we had a party of 6 and they charged us 18%. Some great aspects are reservations, so no need to wait in line, and you can get a bucket of six Asahi Blacks for $20. I'd recommend this place if you feel like Cajun style crayfish and don't feel like waiting in line at Boiling Crab.......I was planning on giving them 3 stars, but now after writing this review and recounting my experience I think it's more of a 2 star place. I was at this location on 4/9/16 and had the worst experience ever. I order one pound of the peeled shrimp with sausage and red potatoes. I specified that I wanted medium heat for my shrimp. When I received my dinner I took one bite and my mouth was on fire! They had given me "fire in the hole!" I spent the entire rest of my dinner drinking cold iced water. I couldn't eat for the rest of the night. I even had my friend taste one of my shrimp and it also ruined her dinner. We both took our dinners home because the heat ruined both our dinners. We notified our server and all he suggested and did was add other two cups of mild sauce to dilute the heat. Two days later (tonight) I heated up my leftovers and still to hot! Had to throw the entire bag away. What a waste. Our bill that night was over 120.00 and not once did our server ask to replace the entire bag of shrimp nor tell us that they would not charge us for my meal. Very unhappy with this service. We have been to claws a good over 30 times at least and have always enjoy the short lines compared to BC. Additionally we've enjoyed claws' taste as it is on par if not better than BC because it a little less salty. This past week we came and the service was horrible. First off, we ordered the baguette for dipping with the sauce in the shrimp and crawfish. They brought out the toasted baguette first which will get hard when the food comes out. And our food didn't come out at least 20 to 30 minutes later due to the mistakes they made - see below. Second, we ordered the steak and it arrived without a fork. How the hell do you eat a steak without a fork?? When we realized there wasn't any fork, our waitress had already left. It took a few minutes to flag her down. I finally was able to asked for a metal fork and steak sauce. The waitress which I think her name was Stephanie (not 100% sure) took off and we literally didn't see her for 10 minutes later. In the meantime, we had ask two other people working there about getting a metal fork and steak sauce. Then Stephanie came out and she tells us that they are busy in the back and didn't have any metal forks washed. Keep in mind that this is 10 minutes after I had asked her. Why wasn't she just honest and tell us from the beginning so we didn't have to wait so long for a metal fork or go in and wash the fork herself! We could have used a plastic fork if we knew we had to wait so long!!! While waiting for the metal fork and steak sauce, our table was right next to the kitchen so we got a complete view of what was going on. Stephanie was standing there taking Hennessy shots. I kid you not! Some other workers were also taking shots and while on duty. Instead of her going inside to wash the fork, she waited to tell a trainee that we also flag down earlier about getting a fork and sauce for us. So it took them about 15 minutes before I can even get a fork and steak sauce to eat my now COLD steak! We had to flag a total of 3 employees about getting a fork and steak sauce and waited about 15 minutes to get it! BAD BAD! Along with the steak, we ordered a pound of shimp and a pound of crawfish in separate bags. When it came out, it was together in one bag. We told them that we ordered them in separate bags so they took it back. 15 minutes later we got the pound of shrimp and pound of crawfish back in separate bags as originally ordered. the shrimp was overcook and the crawfish felt the same or like it was soft and cooked from frozen ones. My guess is they took it back into the kitchen and separated the shrimp and crawfish from the same bags and reheat it again thus making it overcooked. We had to suffer poor food quality from their mistakes. Such as shame... We wont be coming back here! read more

Feel like Boiling Crab, but without the insane wait? This is the place. Located a mere few blocks away, you can get as close to a similar experience at Claws as Boiling Crab. I've heard about the many Boiling Crab clones but was a bit dubious. I'm happy to say that this place is just as good. They do have a few more items than what Boiling Crab offers, like baby back ribs and a cajun ribeye steak. If you're feeling that Boiling Crab hankering but don't feel like waiting a couple of hours, I recommend Claws. read more

Claws is just like Boiling Crab, sans the long wait. And with a larger menu selection AND bigger, juicer shrimp. So actually Claws is better. I always order the shrimp in the Cannonball sauce which consists of all their sauces, lemon pepper, garlic butter and cajun. I also always order their Cajun fries. Soooooo good. Their muscles, clams and cat fish are also pretty good. The bluecrab cakes are decent, not as flavorful as I'd like. My one complaint would be that sometimes the shrimp can be overcooked. But other similar establishments also are guilty of this. Their menu is pretty extensive and quite impressive. The place is a decent size. Every time I've gone, I didn't have to wait. But maybe that's because I avoid going on the weekends or during rush hours. The service is okay, not as attentive as it should be. I like to order my shrimp a pound at a time so that it'll stay hot and fresh, so I wished they were a bit more attentive. Prices are fair. $9.99/lb of shrimp. Large cajun fries $4.50. There are also combo deals. So if you're at Boiling Crab and they tell you the wait is about 2 hours, go down the street to Claws! And WARNING for all the newbies, your pores will sweat cannonball sauce for days! Even after multiple showers and excessive scrubbing. But so yummy in my tummy! read more

I found this place one day I was in the area and its by far my favorite of this kind of food. I live in Glendale and drive all the way over here for great food and great service. I don't mind peeling shrimp but my wife does. This place offer peeled shrimp. This makes my meal more enjoyable not peeling shrimp for her. The flavor is always on point. This is my first review. Claws was an awesome find, from the reviews that where written on Yelp. So the family and I gave it a try, along with the wife's cousin's family. For a place we all had never been before, and only read about it they have fantastic food. The amount of food for the dollars spent, was not only reasonable but also very plentiful. The Crawfish were all of good size, the Shrimp where huge clean and fresh tasting. The Crab was good and fresh, and seasonal so you always want to check to see which variety they have. As all the others have written about the Strawberry lemonade, so MUST I! This drink is the Bomb; I've never had a drink so well maid and fresh at all the times. I think they even make it to order, unless they have a big crowd and then it's made fresh by the pitcher. The waiter Adam was very helpful, seeing as we needed to learn how to order. The wait was not bad for a walk-in; so make a reservation for bigger parties. We had a party of eight with kids and didn't want to wait. So we sat at two tables, which might have been a mistake but it all worked out in the end. The one thing I want to make a comment about is the timing of delivering appetizers; they came after the main course was already started. This made it confusing about what to start with first, and once you started eating the crawfish, shrimp, and crab it maid even harder to choose where to begin. (4 stars for now since I'm reviewing for my first visit.) After a morning of my errands, I persuaded my parents to go to Claws. Saturday, 11:30am and there is only one other party in the restaurant. We ordered a meal deal of 4lbs. of any seafood, 1 appetizer, and 1 order of cajun rice with a couple of sodas (based around $50 depending on what seafood you order). We decided to do half shrimp with lemon pepper and half king crab legs with garlic butter. The shrimp is a bit bigger than BC, but the king crab legs' meat were a bit smaller. I have to say that this is one of the best places for fried calamari: light breaded with plenty of meat. We spent about $80 for the meal. Apparently, the traffic of customers always varies, but I'm glad this was a good day to go right when it opened! read more

The wait is way better than claws although I do notice that the waits are getting longer and longer now that claws is becoming more known now. I love that they have a combination special where you can get 3-5 pounds of seafood and get a few appetizers with it. I always get Cannon Ball which is all the flavors really spicy, so bomb! They also recently added ceviche onto their oysters, not a big fan of oysters but the ceviche with it is really good, TRY IT! I would recomming the crab cakes, only good when its fresh and hot though! and the shrimp eggroll, are really good. I come here like once-twice a month when they are in season and so far, they have been good to me! service is good as well. I Crave this every single day. Now, I see everyone makes the comparison to boiling crab, but honeslty claws has made me forget about boiling crab. I dont even remember what that place tastes like. The flavoring in the boils that Claws produces is so flavorful. I ordered all the sauces and a medium spice level and a seperate bag with a spicy level. Medium spice: There spice in this boil isnt too overwhelming its actually quite perfect, i think this has more flavor. Spicy: i can say the spiciness is alot on this one to the point where you have hints of the actual sauce. Strawberry Lemonade: Awesome.. sweet and a little sour just how its intended to be. Claws is like boiling crab but better. you do not have to pay for water there is a sink outside of the bathroom to wash your hands and the food is good. My friends and i come here for birthdays or when the girls want to go to skylark nails since it is really close. if your with a lot of people i think the 5 pound deal is a good deal you get 5 pounds of seafood your choice, large fries, i think it was called like butterfly fried shrimp or something and an appetizer. very fulfilling to my stomach. two claws up! read more

I usually don't name drop but I've been to a lot of Cajun places in GG, and I would have to say CLAWS have the most variety and the service isn't like most other places where they "set 'n forget," the wait staff are very tentative. What really got me is their shrimp, even though it's a dollar more, it's worth it because they're huge. You have to see it for yourself. Came here with my girlfriend a while ago and it was a really great experience. We walked in, and got immediately sat (around 5pm on a friday), and got our food delivered to us within 10 minutes. All the servers were really friendly and didn't hesitate to help me even if they weren't my server. Their fries are really good, cajun and crunchy. What sold me was the shrimp. I got 2lb of shrimp in medium sauce, and it was exactly what I was craving. Cravings fulfilled, will definitely be coming back!
