We have ordered takeout from here three times in the last few months. I personally have ordered the same thing each time - and each time it was completely different... Zero consistency. The first time, we all agreed it was so-so and absolutely nothing to rave over. Kids were okay, but the adult meals were soggy and bland. The second time, it was just my husband and I, and it was amazing. Everything was well cooked and very flavorful. The third (and final) time, it was just us adults again and it was awful. It was clear the food had been reheated - not sure why as we ordered and directly picked up. There was no kaiser bun on my burger, but soggy sliced bread instead. It literally fell apart in my hands immediately. I had to eat it with a fork and knife. It was awful, but I was so hungry. Sides were small (well, much smaller than the prior two times) and cold. I wish I could like this place, but you never know what you're going to get. Clearly the owner and chefs need to work this out so there is consistency in what is being served. read more

Came in last night for dinner with my boyfriend because he has really been wanting to try this place. Instantly regretted my decision the second we walked in. Dark, dirty, musty, hospital cafeteria smelling restaurant. I ordered the shrimp po'boy & my bf ordered the jambalaya. My meal was served on the dirtiest plate i have ever seen. The top was covered in oil & the bottom had particles of food caked on it. Unfortunately I didn't notice that until after i was done eating or else i would have returned it. My shrimp po'boy only had 4 medium sized shrimp on it...FOUR!!! Definitely not worth the money. Way too much bread & their "Cajun seasoned fries" tasted like regular fries. Not a single drop of spices on them. My boyfriend seemed to like his food but I tried it and to me it tasted like boxed food. Sure, I have high standards when it comes to Cajun soul food because I've eaten in New Orleans before but come on... so gross won't be back unfortunately. I had the blackened chicken sandwich with sweet potato fries. Definitely yummy but if you don't like spicy, don't order this. The chicken is very spicy but sooo delicious. My fries were good too but were a little cold. My friend had the chicken and waffles. He said his food was good but the waffle was a little too thick. That's the only thing he didn't like. There wasn't anyone at the front register when we walked in so my friend had to go look for someone after about 5 mins. Our waiter was very well mannered. Constantly walked pass us just to observe that everything was going well. He also was very apologetic that the kitchen was taking so long to make the food. The order was missing the catfish so we waited around for someone to let us know what they were going to do about it. I had to ask three times what was going on with my missed order. Finally, a girl comes out and says they can make it, refund it or give me a certificate for the next time I come in. Well, since theres a hungry kid involved I guess you need to make it. So we waited another 20 minutes. While we're waiting theres another couple standing around for about 15 minutes waiting for the strawberry lemonade that was supposed to be with their order. Another diner decides to check her order and it's missing two items. We finally get our order and the girl tries to give me something for the next time I come in. I informed her this was the first time I'd been here and my last, she can keep it. She was pretty snooty when she said have a nice night. It really didnt matter her unprofessionalism was evident. We heard her yelling at the cooks, "I dont care who did it, just make the fish now". Pretty unprofessional. Now for the food. I could have made those ribs at home. They were overly rubbed so you only tasted spicy and there was not nearly enough sauce on them. I added sweet baby Ray's to give them taste. The sweet potatoe fries were over cooked and dry. The hush puppies were...hush puppies, ordinary nothing special. I've had tastier. The catfish had no real taste. We added salt and lemon to doctor it up. The mashed potatoes tasted like potatoes. No butter, salt or pepper. I dont like coleslaw so I didnt touch it. Not one person in charge stopped to talk to us. They just kept walking by us like we were invisible. DEFINITELY NOT worth the $45. ****UPDATE**** Everyone who ate this meal got sick. Stomach cramps, diarreah, vomit or a combination of the three. This was my first time going to Clementines and this restaurant was very nice inside we sat at a table and it was jus really relaxing and just a great atmosphere hands down. I ordered the chicken and waffles and my boyfriend got a side of French toast and a piece of chicken. I never usually finish my waffles but the food just tasted so fresh and the waffles were so fluffy I ate the whole thing. Yum. I was going to have lunch with a friend and our kids. She recommended Clementine's and mentioned that the food was really good. I met her there and it was such a beautiful day that we asked to be seated outside. There's a tent in the parking lot with a number of tables underneath. The kids were given kids menus and the adults were given our menus, most importantly, the drink menu. Our waiter recommended the peach something-or-other (it has peach vodka, peach schnapps and other deliciousness in it). We ordered those and the rest is history. No really, my food was food too. What did I order? Hmm. It's hard to remember after the drink. It was the Banana Fosters French Toast. My friend ordered the chicken and waffles. She gave me her chicken thigh and OMG the hot sauce that I dipped it in was AMAZING. So much so that I found the bottle (they brought it to us in sauce cups) and ordered the bottle of it online before I left (no joke). My friend's chicken and waffles looked so good that I wanted to bring the husband back for dinner the following night so I could order it. A couple weeks ago, my grandfather was denied service at this restaurant. He went during the week for a nice breakfast before returning home, but was told he could not be seated because he was a party of one. This is completely unacceptable and horrible customer service. My grandfather is 87-years old, a widower who lost his wife of 60 years almost a year ago, and has cancer. All he was trying to do was treat himself to a new restaurant that his family introduced him to. When I called on his behalf, since he is not the type of person to complain to avoid bringing a lot of unwarranted attention to himself, I spoke to a manager named Samantha. Samantha was very helpful, listened to the situation and assured me she would help us figure it out and have the owner call me back. After 24 hours, I had not heard from the owner, so I called again. I spoke to an Alyssa, and was treated like a horrible villain for checking in on what was going on. She spoke over me, indirectly accused me and my grandpa being a liar, and told me there was no way "her staff" could ever do that to someone. I barely spoke and I only wanted to know when an owner would call me back about this. By the end of the call, I felt like I was wrong for calling on such a horrible thing that "her staff" did. My grandfather does not complain to us about things unless they are very serious as he knows we are much more protective of him now that we are the only ones left to take care of him. I've worked in customer service and management for years, and would never speak to a customer this way. I would think an owner of a business would call someone complaining about the mistreatment about one of their customers to at least let them know they are looking into it. It is completely unprofessional and the lack of emotional control one of their managers demonstrated further proves that. I've worked closely in the community of San Ramon for two years, and my family has lived there for over 30 years, and this is not the type of customer service I expect from such a great community. I will be alerting those I know in the community of San Ramon and the surrounding cities and hope they stop their patronage of such an unprofessional restaurant. There are many other restaurants nearby, all of which would never treat people like we were treated. read more

Once a year we go to this place cus we keep forgetting how terrible it is. Do not get the fried chicken and waffles, which is sad that a Creole place cannot get this right. I swear they use hens, the chicken pieces are so tiny. The size of the two chickens are the same as a quarter of the size of the waffle. It's a drumstick and a thigh for dark meat from the tiniest of chickens, and I asked if maybe white meat is bigger and the server said no. The Chicken was cooked perfectly and juicy. Ok, I'm going to say it. These Chicken and Waffles are better than Home of Chicken and Waffles in Oakland. Plus our waiter was great. I read the reviews, and set my expectations on a coffee shop with a Cajun/Creole theme....I was not disappointed. This is not straight off the bayou. I made an Open Table reservation...because I could. It was fairly busy for lunch, but it was not required. Greeted and seated, orders in almost immediately...we waited/ wanted for nothing during our meal. It was a very quiet space....yay for that!! We had: Tempura shrimp....so yummy, good quality and sized shrimp....cooked to perfection...nice and crispy. Cole slaw is tangy and sweet...I liked it. Side of fries...decent Hubby had Pulled Pork Po'boy...he said it was a 3.5. Same with the red beans and rice. Portions were large, prices were not high. I can be a bit slutty, when it comes to Cajun food. In the sense, that I can never say "no". Ex-coffee shop (Baker's Square) turned Cajun restaurant, you know I'm gonna be on board with that scenario. It even got me to venture into San Ramon. The menu reads like a promising Cajun/Creole script. But I've rarely encountered a restaurant out here in the Bay Area, where they can nail most of the dishes. I'd rather have a place offer less, and nail the execution. Rather than offer a boat load of mediocrity. The food is not bad here, they can actually cook. But sometimes it is the little things that can add up and lose a favorable opinion. Corn bread arrives upon seating. Nice gesture. Not bad but more like a corn cake versus dense and moist corn bread. It seems they were trying to get away from the gritty texture of good ol' fashioned corn bread. Batter Fried Crawfish ($11) was just okay. The batter kind of overpowered the crawfish tail meat. You almost couldn't discern it from crawfish or tiny shrimp. I love crawfish meat and I kind of want to taste it. Plus the batter got on the dark side from the fryer. Cup of Gumbo ($4.45) Not bad, properly thick and flavorful. But the flavor came mostly from the smoked sausage and not the darkened roux. Chicken meat completely shredded and added to the thickness. Addition of a scoop of rice made it even more thick and filling. Decent rendition that I'd hit up again. BBQ Shrimp ($16) Not bad tasting as it was nice sized peeled shrimp in a pool of Cajun spiced, garlic oil. Good with French bread to sop. But BBQ shrimp in NOLA, at least the versions I've seen/had from Paul Pruddhome and Emeril were way different. Those versions were Worcestershire, beer and spices, reduced to a thickish reduction then emulsified with soft butter. So the finished product is an intense sauce with no oil slick. Again I didn't think that Clementine's version was horrible tasting, but I felt it was just misnamed. Should of been called "Spicy Shrimp in Garlic Oil". Smoked Prime Rib ($25 for 12 oz cut, there's one larger) They actually know how to smoke over here. So much so, I may try their ribs next time. Good quality meat, nice and tender in the interior. Exterior nicely seasoned with a robust flavor of true smoke, very nice. This isn't easily pulled off, and I only know 1 other place out here in the Bay that does a smoked PR. I would recommend this in a heartbeat. Decent service, large spacious dining area and a full bar will have me coming back. But when I didn't see a Sazerac on their cocktail menu, I knew it was going to be slightly watered down Cajun-Creole. I wasn't too far from being off. But for San Ramon, this is a gem! read more

Plus, we had a 20% off coupon. I think they're mainly known for their breakfast because you get so much food. Not only do you get an omelette, but it also comes with your choice of potatoes (house or hash browns) and your choice of pancakes, waffles, muffins or toast. Holy crap, that's a lot of food. I opted for a chicken sandwich which was all right. It had a weird chewy texture though so I'm not sure if I'll order it again. My parents were impressed with the portion sizes of the breakfast. You can order breakfast from 7am-11am and you can get smaller portions for a lot cheaper $2.99 and up depending on what you order. Next time I'll try the fried chicken because I hear they're known for their more Southern dishes. Prices are fairly reasonable depending on what you order. If you want the most bang for your buck, I'd go with one of the breakfast items though. Our service was outstanding. read more

The Service seems to get a lot of complaints, we thought it was okay. A little disorganized but friendly, and very nice to our toddler. What will keep us from coming back is the food. My husband had jambalaya, he said it tasted like it was cooked last week and heated up today. It was bland and mushy. My daughter had the pigs in a blanket, pancakes around sausage. My husband tried them and said the pancakes also tasted like they were previously made and then reheated. I had the blackened chicken sandwich, it was okay. The fries were decent. The coleslaw was very watery and I didn't try it. We ended up paying $40 for a meal that was mostly uneaten. The inside of the restaurant looks a little beat down. To me the food is on par with a Denny's or IHOP. It's big portions, not super expensive, but really not very good. I heard that this was previously a Marie Calendars prior to it becoming Clementine's. Staff and waiters are very friendly and helpful, constantly checking on the customer's experience. Southern hospitality in San Ramon! They feature a live band on the weekends, over in the bar area. Another nice touch that may not be publicized. Food quality Outstanding taste, portions, and overall value! Gumbo soup has three options: small, medium, and large. All sizes include a small serving of dirty rice on top of the soup. The soup has generous amounts of sausage and okra. The small and medium are very filling. Barbeque-bacon shrimp on a stick! Three medium sized white shrimp wrapped in a thick piece of bacon and covered in a tangy barbeque sauce over a bed of coleslaw. The trio is a great way to try other items on the menu. They offer a small bowl of gumbo, with Jambalaya, and shrimp etouffee. I was completely stuffed at the end of the meal, but thoroughly enjoyed each dish. The shrimp etoufee offered a completely different flavor, but contained sausage and shrimp like the other two dishes. They also offer a monthly crawfish boil for $12,99 per pound! read more

So when we got a local coupon in the mail for Clementines, I figured it was the perfect excuse to go over and check em on out. We were immediately seated upon entering, by a very nice host and handed the menus. The menu is very southern influenced with a Cajun/ New Orleans kick. We started our evening off with drinks. I got a glass of their house Cabernet Savingon and he got a Diet Coke. For an appetizer, I ordered the Fried Green Tomatos ( love them just as much as the movie ) : ) For our main dishes, He went with fried chicken with mashed potatoes and a biscuit. Me, being in an indulgent splurge mode, went with the Clementines Mac and Cheese which consists of - Jack Cheese and cream cheese mixed with andouilie sausage, bell peppers and onions. I usually NEVER eat any bread served at restaurants however, this looked so good that I had to take a few bites and it turned out to be incredibly moist and absolutely delicious. Some of the bad reviews are probably legitimate, but I notice that some of the bad reviews are from people ordering California food, not Cajun. Guess what folks! This is a Cajun Creole restaurant! If you want a guacamole and burritos, go to Chevy's across the way. If you want to make believe you are in a diner in New Orleans, go here and order one of their specialties. I had the oyster po-boy, and it was the 4th best I've had in the Bay Area. I always order an oyster po-boy if it is on the menu, so maybe 4th sounds mediocre, but it isn't. The oysters were soft and delicious, the breading was crunchy and not too thick, the remoulade was a little on the bland side, but well within the delicious spectrum, and the bread was soft on the inside, though it could have used a little crispiness on the outside. The side of coleslaw was tasty and mayonnaisey--none of that vinegary crap that seems to be popular these days. The red beans and rice were not very good. I don't eat sausage, so I typically pick it out and give it to my partner or just eat around it, and I was told that all of the red beans and rice flavor was in the sausage. The beans were almost all whole, and the rice was globby and yucky. The mac and cheese was pretty good, especially with the Fireman's Pepper Sauce which tastes like it was made for it. The hush puppies were as tasty as any I've had. I only ate a little piece, but the catfish was delicious. Very crunchy and moist. Overall, I was very happy as I walked out the door. I came in with a group of friends for dinner. We were greeted and seated right away which was pleasant but afterwards it was downhill from that. First off the service was poor from our waitress. We placed our orders with ease, but when the waitress served our meal several items of our order were missing (they were missing the side dishes). We let the waitress know that we had not received our entire order and she said she would go and get them for us. She came back ten minutes later with some of the missing items, but again with not all of them. We brought it to her attention again that we were still missing dishes and she never came back with any of them. We tried to get the attention of her and other servers and were not acknowledged. My party and I sat there for an hour and was not once checked in on by our server to see if we needed anything. Second, the food itself was tasteless and very bland, not satisfactory at all. The food here is fantastic! I've never had an issues with the quality of food or the portion size. I ordered food to go today and had a minor issue , I called and spoke to the manager "Mike" and he was fantastic. I felt bad for complaining because I have continuously had great food and customer service here. He was so great about my issue. I'm HAPPY that this place is in San Ramon. I have yet to eat anything at this location that is bad. The portions are huge and everything is made to perfection. Mike does a great job with the staff and quality of food . My all time favorite would be the grits and shrimp & the fosters banana French Toast. Oh their drinks are super strong ;-) great place and great staff! read more
