We came here in the morning right at opening. They need the entire party there before you can be seated. There were plenty of seats inside, so it was no worries! The service was really kind and attentive throughout the meal. I got the fried chicken and waffles as it came recommended from our server. The chicken had a great flavor and crispiness. The waffles were really tasty too! We got the iconic blueberry pancakes to share with the table. They tasted good and the warm blueberries on top added something special to it. It was a great place to have brunch with pretty big portions! read more

I'm on a hunt to find NYC's best pancake while I am on a two month work assignment and Clinton St. Baking was one of the first places I tried in my first week. I consider myself a foodie, but by nature of my job, I lean more towards service overall when it comes to rating and recommendation. I didn't have a reservation and queued the line outside at 8:20am. At first, it seemed like I would be in line for a long time but once they opened at 8:30am the line moved quickly and I was one of the first to be seated at the bar. I ordered the blueberry pancakes and the chicken apple sausage with two mimosas. The food was delivered quickly and the overall experience from start to finish was pretty quick. Derick was the bartender serving at the time and he was efficient and personable, provided recommendations, and I never had an empty mimosa. The pancakes were delicious, and I would definitely come back to try the chocolate chip flavor. It did not care for the chicken apple sausage and probably would not order that as a side again. While I do think Bubby's pancakes are slightly better overall as I like a simple pancake, I would recommend Clinton St. Baking for the service and the ambiance. read more

Nice spot for breakfast and lunch, for a Tuesday morning it was packed! Excellent and attentive service despite the rush. Big portions. I had the B.E.L.T and it was huge and very fresh ingredients. All of the meals we ordered were big portions and filling. read more

This place never disappoints! From the exact minute you walk through the door, the staff is incredibly friendly and awesome. I actually moved downstate, but every single chance I get to come back home to NYC, this is my absolute go-to spot. I remember years back when this place was just a tiny spot with a few tables, and now it has plenty of seating though it's still always packed for good reason! I came in without reservations this time, and of course, the wait was over 2 hours, but it is *always* worth it. I usually stick to my classic favorite a black coffee with the legendary blueberry pancakes but today I decided to add a strawberry milkshake to the mix. Make the reservation...It's a hard reservation to get at an ideal time, but if you can plan accordingly...get it. For my family & I, it was a last minute impromptu situation so we weren't able to get a reservation but we did manage to get an order to-go and sat right across the street...and still was everything amazing. There was 4 of us, so we all got different things and picked from one another. We got the Latke eggs Benedict..pictured below...so so good. The pancakes and French toast...also very good. And the crispy potato pancakes...also very very good. I would easily return just for the latke Benedict..but take that from someone who loves Benedicts and loves smoked salmon with trout roe caviar...and loves latke.. Truth be told there wasn't a single thing we ordered that fell short of very very good. read more

It was packed when we arrived-but we got seated in 5 minutes at the bar. We had two Americanos, a blueberry mimosa, blueberry pancakes, a southern breakfast with eggs, cheese grits, bacon , fried chicken also. The food was very good, fresh and tasty. The only thing that I didn't like was the syrup, which wasn't traditional syrup. The bacon was delicious and the cheese grits were good too. The atmosphere was busy, festive with young tourists and professionals. I recommend that food folks. read more

Went to Clinton Street Baking Company for brunch today around 1:30pm with my husband. We checked in just a few minutes late, but weren't seated until about 1:55-2:00, which felt like a long wait given the circumstances. We were really excited to try this place as NYC natives. My husband ordered the spinach and cheese omelette (subbed fries for home fries) with a side of fried chicken, and I ordered the banana walnut pancakes. Unfortunately, my pancakes arrived with a long black hair sitting right on top (I'm blonde, so it clearly wasn't mine). When I pointed it out, the waitress said she would remake it but didn't apologize at all, which was disappointing and honestly off-putting. To make matters worse, at the end of the meal we asked to purchase the hot sauce we enjoyed. It was handed to us in a plain white paper bag, and when we checked it later at home, it wasn't even sealed--it was clearly an already opened, partially used bottle from the kitchen. Selling an unsealed, used product for $12 is unacceptable and pretty gross. It also looked nothing like what's shown online. Overall, a really disappointing experience from a place we had high hopes for. There also doesn't seem to be an easy way to contact management directly, which adds to the frustration. read more

Finally made it to Clinton St. Upon approaching the building I noticed quite a few people standing outside waiting. I was alone and when I went inside to add myself to the list, I was happy to learn there were seats at the bar. I had a seat and reviewed the menu. I decided on a mocha latte and the chocolate chunk pancakes. The latte was perfect. The pancakes were really moist and filling. The syrup was really sweet so I only used it sparingly. Can't wait to go back and have the Benedict which I heard was excellent. read more

Clinton St. Baking does not live up to the hype. I was drawn to this restaurant by its social media popularity and the allure of its famed pancakes. During my visit, however, I found that the food was not worth the hassle. Securing a brunch reservation at Clinton St. is no easy feat. You must book in advance, and still, a reservation does not guarantee immediate seating. My group arrived to chaos: hoards of singles, pairs, and groups alike crowded at the restaurant's entrance, hoping to snag a table. I had to squeeze through the mass to speak to the host, and even then, I had to wait to get seated for my party. As I said, the food was not worth the hassle. They arrived in meager portions, and the pancake itself, the coveted item that was the sole reason for my coming here, was nothing special. Forgettable, even. I couldn't tell you what it tasted like if you asked me now. Friends, there are so many better places to dine for brunch. If you want to try your luck at securing a table here, go ahead. Food - 3 stars Service - 5 stars We can now cross Clinton St. Baking off the list as a been there done that. Service was 10 out of 10. Probably the best service we received at any establishment during our trip. I appreciate the unobtrusive attentiveness the staff exemplifies. As for the food, the pancakes did not meet the hype. They are too dry for my liking though the chocolate was nice and melty. I haven't had them this way with the chocolate on top. The basic breakfast eggs, bacon, biscuit was fine. The biscuit was dry and only resembled a biscuit by shape alone. The breakfast potatoes were the star. They taste like a baked potato that then is crisped up on the flat top. Overall, the experience was nice, but the food was a disappointment. If you were raised with a grannie in your life, skip CSB because their pancakes and biscuits won't be better than your grannie made! read more

YUM! Been waiting to try this place and it was worth it. Salmon Benedict was perfect- latkes were crispy and soft in the middle, egg was jammy, loved the hollandaise and the salmon roe. Clinton St Baking Company is known for their long lines especially during brunch. But I feel like it's a lot more manageable coming here for dinner! I had their Clinton St Omelette and their blueberry pancakes. I thought the omelette was only ok, but I really like the blueberry pancakes! Finally tried Clinton St. Baking Company on the Lower East Side and it fully lived up to the hype.!! The line was long so we did takeout, but the staff were super friendly and efficient, which made the wait way more tolerable. The location itself is such a classic, cozy LES spot. The blueberry pancakes with maple butter were unreal. Insanely fluffy, light, and melt in your mouth, like literal clouds. The maple butter was rich and sweet and honestly didn't even need syrup. My friend got the chicken and waffles and loved it, so I added the fried chicken on the side. Perfectly crispy, juicy, and well seasoned with great flavor. Long line, great food, friendly staff. Totally worth it and I'd definitely go back. read more

What a cute breakfast spot! With being smack in the middle of the hustle and bustle of nyc, you'd think this small spot would be chaotic. It's not! They only take walk ins and the hostess was so sweet and organized. It was a 45 min wait which wasn't bad because there's a lot to see in the area. You get a text with a 10 min window to return. Service is very quick and food was exactly what we needed to hit the spot! We ordered coffees, mimosas, Farmers Plate ($19), and Chicken & Waffles ($19). Everything was so fresh and delicious. Unfortunately we didn't have room for the famous pancakes so we will for sure be back soon. read more

Came for the specialty pancakes for Clinton Street's anniversary celebration. The pancakes are always great. The fresh whipped cream was thick and drool worthy. I loved the oat crumble on top as well as the cherry sauce on the plate. As for the cherries themselves I wasn't thrilled because they were frozen... killed the vibe. Service was rather slow which made sense as the meal went on and they were packed. But the start of the meal had a lot of empty tables so not sure why it was packed. The Bellini was fine, not memorable. And the chicken wings were crispy. They allowed us to put the sauce on the side which was good for myself and a friend who don't do spice. My friends ordered sodas which didn't come till after the apps were done. One friend complained the side of fried chicken was "hard." Lastly one friend got sweet potato fries with chipotle mayo. But by the time they brought the sauce out her fries were mostly all gone. I love Clinton street so I am hoping next time is a little more consistent. read more

The pros of going somewhere solo especially in New York... being able to go almost anywhere and be seated in under 10mins. Clinton St bakery had been on my phantom list for a while and since it wasn't too far from my hotel I decided to check it out. It was a Wednesday morning and it was packed but luckily I was seated in a few minutes at the bar. It definitely has the crazy diner vibe just from looking at all the retro displays and orientation of the space. Kudos to the one lady who was making drinks, taking orders and also taking care of the bills. She did a great job getting me in and out of the restaurant though I did have to flag her a few times but she was doing so many things. I came here for the pancakes and they were pretty good. I got the blueberry pancakes and they came with a caramel syrup which I would have preferred the normal one or maple. The pancake didn't have much flavor to itself but once the sauce was there we were getting somewhere... All their menu items are big so you will likely be stuffed from the entree. I love coming here when they are doing their pancake special and they offer a different pancake every few days. There were the berry pancakes and they were delicious between the berries and the lemon curd, no syrup needed! I love the vibe of the place. It definitely is nice dinner vibes . The service is great and the staff is very kind even though it's always so busy. My recommendation is to get there as early as you possibly can for their dinner service and to make a reservation. It gets packed really quickly regardless of the day of the week read more

This place has been on my list for at least 17 years and so glad I was finally able to try and not have to wait for a seat. I went solo and sat at the counter tops. Ordered the classic pancakes and was so good. Fluffy and soft with a touch of crispness from the edges, topped with plenty of blueberry jam. The butter was the best part honestly. Great food, mediocre service. I've been wanting to check out this spot for years, especially around 2014 when it was really hyped, but never got around to it. The reservations fly but since I was off on a week day we snagged a reservation for 1:30pm! We came on time and still had to wait like 15 minutes...and we couldn't really sit anywhere since it was so packed. There was even a line for the bathroom because it's only 1 person each. The bathroom was huge which is insane because the place is so small. The tables are basically right next to eachother and you're hearing the next groups conversation. We were finally seated and I felt weird being so close to a group so once I saw people from the table more separated leave I asked to sit there instead. They had no issue. We waited a while just for the waitress to greet us and that wait time continued the whole time there. There was a point we put in our food order before multiple tables even sat down and we hadn't gotten our food yet so I had to say something. It was pretty ridiculous. For drinks I had the Market Bellini and my gf had the Spiked Apple Cider. I was shocked they had cocktails and they were delicious. For our food we ordered the pancakes with blueberries, chicken and waffles, and a side of eggs and bacon. We just shared everything. The pancakes were SO GOOD. The fried chicken was also so delicious and flavorful. The syrup had a particular taste that I enjoyed a lot. The food was solid and I understand why people flock to get the pancakes but we spent almost 3 hours there! I'm not sure if I'd be back but it was a delicious meal. read more

Omg! YES. It is so good. This place absolutely lives up to the hype. The atmosphere is cozy and welcoming, and you can tell right away why this place is so loved. I ordered the pancakes with their famous maple syrup and blueberry compote on top, and they were unreal. The pancakes were perfectly fluffy, rich without being heavy, and soaked up that syrup beautifully. The blueberry compote added just the right amount of sweetness and tartness, making every bite better than the last. Highly recommend. read more

Absolutely loved the blueberry pancakes! Some of my all-time favorites! With that said, I, personally, would prefer regular maple syrup as opposed to the maple butter. Still great, though! The place is very cute. I was surprised at how small it was, so I now understand why so many people say it can be quite difficult to get a reservation. I had to delete my review from 2010, it's no longer relevant in 2025. Back in the day, I'd be the first one on line with my kids to have Pancakes with wild blueberries from Maine. Now there are so many seating options, from Resy reservations to the Timeout Market with no line. This Clinton Street Baking Company location is quintessential New York City. It is a larger dining space from the original location. Now a corner spot with beautiful windows allows the space to be filled with picturesque city views, you can see the pulse of the Lower East Side while sipping on Mimosas. I brought my wife for breakfast with her list of things she doesn't eat: Pancakes, French Toast and eggs. When she ordered Potato Pancakes with salmon? She said her world view changed. Yes, it's just that good and there are so many choices for everyone. All menu items are fresh and perfectly cooked, I have never had an off meal in 15+ years. Clinton Street Baking Company has a proprietary Pancake Batter and I am telling you, this is the reason why people are waiting outside in the freezing cold. Now add the sugar cured bacon and warm maple syrup?? Be still my heart.. I always say the next time I'm ordering French Toast! But its the allure of the Wild Blueberries and warm pancakes that keeps me coming back. Mmm.. Its good to come here you see there's a small wait line. Got here, saw people eating outside from their takeout but no line for the restaurant. Walked in and saw people waiting but not a lot of people. Was greeted by the hostess and we were told it was a two and a half hour wait. Due to having plans, we couldn't wait. The inside was roomier than I thought. It's an open space with a bar. We ordered at the take out window located outside. Prior to placing the order, we asked how long and were told 15 mins. We ordered the pancakes (plain), buttermilk biscuit sandwich and chicken and waffles. We got to our next destination and ate it. I was so excited about the pancakes however I was disappointed. I didn't like them. I waited to but they were dry. The taste resembled a biscuit flavor. I ate two bites and put them aside and said I would eat them later. That didn't happen, I ended up trashing them. 2 out of 10 The biscuit sandwich - I enjoyed everything except the biscuit. The biscuit was dry as well. 5 out of 10. Chicken and waffles - chicken had a lot of breading and the waffles were great. 7 out of 10. It doesn't live up to the Instagram hype. read more

Went to Clinton St. Baking for the first time and made a 9:30am reservation on Resy for a Monday. We ended up in the area around 8:20am (they open at 8:30) and got lucky--only about 10 people in front of us, so we were seated right away. Honestly, it didn't really seem to matter that we had a reservation. We tried the famous blueberry pancakes, and honestly, they were just okay to us. Based on all the hype, I expected something truly amazing and unique. Don't get me wrong--they were good--but not something I'd wait in a long line for again. We also tried a biscuit with their homemade jam. The jam was great, but the biscuit itself was dry and really just served as a vehicle for the jam. Wouldn't get that again. That said, the service was nice and the restaurant was clean and comfortable, which made for a pleasant experience overall. It was nice to finally try it, but for us, the hype outweighed the experience. read more

Clinton's was cool. The 2.5 hour wait was outrageous and certainly not worth the hype. Being from the Bay Area, there are SO many random restaurants where one can find something like this and be seated right away, so to wait the whole morning to be seated was nuts to me, but the hubs and I did it to see what all of the fuss was about. We found that the fuss was just fuss. Don't get me wrong, cute little spot, nice vibe, fun times, but just keeping it real abut the wait-- which I know isn't the fault of the restaurant. All they can do is try to accommodate their patrons. Now let's discuss food: The fried chicken sandwich was definitely great. Pancakes on the other hand were a bit lackluster for my palette; however, I'm an ultra pancake snob and eat homemade pancakes at one of the best spots in California, so I have to pass on the pancakes, but they were decent. There was a mild after taste and they definitely weren't hot. We also had to request butter and pay an additional $2.00 for syrup. That in itself was wild to me. You sell pancakes and don't serve the main condiments that pair with pancakes? Syrup and butter is given upon request? what's happening there? That was an ultimate turn off. Nonetheless, the hubs and I had a good time and the service was to-the-point. Will I go there again? If I'm invited to meet someone and we have a reservation. Would I recommend it? I got a reservation a month in advance for a coveted Sunday brunch spot. Otherwise, the wait on a weekend will run you 1-2 hours. The restaurant is not that big, and only has one bathroom available. The bathroom is pretty large however. I was a little nervous that this place would be all hype and no substance but I was really pleased with the food. Everything was delicious and fresh. Pancakes galore!!!! I came here because I saw it was their pancake month and thought I must try! I had the speciality Maple Bourbon Pecan Pancakes and they were delicious and honestly you can share a stack with a friend because they are fluffy and filling. I didn't need to add the syrup as they were already sweet. The fried tomatoes are also tasty along with the sauce it comes with. The egg and cheddar were also great. First things first - the food here is delicious. However, the service we received while we were here was horrendous. We arrived on a Tuesday at 10:06am. It was completely packed. We were told it would be a 30 minute wait, which was fine with us, so we put our name on the waiting list. I received a text at 10:20am that our table was ready. That was a nice surprise since we had only been waiting about 15 mins. We were sat, ordered two coffees. Those came quickly from the busboy. We then ordered breakfast with our waiter who wasn't particularly friendly, which was fine because he was extremely busy. We didn't get our food until 11:12am. Almost an hour later! The waiter came by after we had been waiting for our food for a while and said it would be out "shortly." It didn't come for a while after that. Our waiter did bring us a free biscuit with butter and jam, which was nice. Other people who were seated well after us, ordered, ate, and left before we even got our food. It was awful. Now the food. It was so good. I ordered the chicken and waffle. My husband ordered the banana walnut pancakes. And we got a side of smoked bacon. The chicken and waffle was sooooo good. The chicken was cooked perfectly. The waffle wasn't too sweet. The maple sauce that comes with it tasted like straight melted toffee. It was delicious. The portion was huge. I couldn't even get close to finishing it. My husband loved the pancakes. They were huge and super fluffy. The smoked bacon was really good too. I've had many pancakes in my life. Clinton St Baking Co has been on my try list for so many years, and I finally got to try last November. I would say their pancakes are pretty much perfection. They have this slight crunch exterior but so light and fluffy inside. And the maple butter! While I also enjoyed the fried chicken and waffle, I still dream about their pancakes. This place is so busy. The only reservation I could get was 8:30 PM on Saturday night. Of course I had to try their pancakes with a warm maple butter. The pancakes are soft and fluffy, and the blueberry compote was the perfect consistency. My friend had the chicken and waffles and she said that the chicken was seasoned very well and the waffles were pretty good. I also ordered a side of macaroni and cheese and I have a nice crispy top and a very creamy cheese sauce. I can see what all the hype is about. It's still so good! Came by myself on a weekday morning and was able to get seated at the bar right away, but there was a line out the door in the rain. The pancakes and maple butter are some of the best, I got the blueberry + chocolate chip combo otherwise think it would be too sweet. We are world famous for our breakfast and brunch dishes, including pancakes, eggs benedict, brioche french toast, buttermilk fried chicken & waffles, and house made burgers and fries. Save room for our hand-crafted Brooklyn Ice Cream Factory milkshakes, spiked or virgin. All muffins, pies, cakes and most of our bread is baked in small batches on premises. History

Established in 2001.

When we began, we were a small wholesale baking company with a storefront and a few loyal neighborhood customers who lingered over coffee and muffins and tapped out on their laptop keys (before smartphones were born). These days, most folks know that are pancakes are voted best in the city, but it's the savory dishes that ground our menu and make us proud. People call it "comfort food," but what we dish out is American Classics made with the highest quality ingredients, locally sourced -- whenever possible -- with lots of love (and butter).

Meet the Business Owner: Neil and Dede K.

Chef Neil Kleinberg raised himself in a crazy kitchen in Flatbush, Brooklyn, among 4 kids, 2 parents, 16 neighborhood cousins, and 6 aunts and uncles. Neil opened his first restaurant, Simon's in Lincoln Center, at just 22 and in 1997 re-opened the legendary seafood restaurant, Lundy's, in his native Brooklyn. Neil has appeared on Martha Stewart Living, The Today Show, Good Day New York, The Cooking Channel's "United Tastes of America, "Real Food" on PBS, and has thrown it down with Food Network's Bobby Flay. He the co-author of The Clinton St. Baking Co. Cookbook and owns the restaurant with his wife and partner, DeDe Lahman, Director of Operations and Global Business.

Some bakeries sell both and they are definitely not the same. I did end up buying one of their sfogliatelle with cream and some rugelachs. The sfogliatelle was good but the rugelachs tasted slightly underbaked. It did taste fresh though unlike many I've had in other bakeries. However, for $28 per pound, I wouldn't get it again. For those not having lobster tail and not having the Italian cookies, I will have to give Veniero's a low rating. I never thought an Italian bakery would not carry staples. Very disappointed. I was asked on my day off to go with my friends to Clinton St Baking Company. I've heard a lot about the pancakes and I decided to get out of my comfy bed and get ready. Let's just say we aimed to eat at 10am but we didn't actually get seated until 12pm. 2 hours in the cold not so fun.... luckily I had good company. Once we did get seated I was slightly disgusted by the dirty fork that was on the table (chocolate remnants from the last person... not so appetizing) . The waitress was awesome though and got me a new CLEAN fork asap. Also, since we were sitting near the front of the door there were people standing near our table listening to our convo and looking at our food. Another slightly annoying thing was every time the door opened there was a breeze that made it pretty chilly. Not really my thing after standing in the cold for 2 hours waiting. I ordered the hot chocolate with khalua and it was huge and pretty to look at but I think they needed to add in a little more alcohol just to give it that extra kick (maybe its because i'm an alchy but i like to taste the liquor ESPECIALLY if its something I pay extra for). I had chocolate pancakes and an order of sweet and salty bacon. The pancakes were amazing especially with the maple butter. It was ridiculously good and it was melting in my mouth. The sweet and salty bacon however wasn't as good as I would've liked. If I had to choose between the two I would choose the SWEET bacon. That's a really a big thing since I hate sweet salty combo in food. I love salty bacon but when it was brought out it looked weird slightly burned and old and what really killed it was that it didn't really have much taste. The sweet bacon had really good flavor and looked prettier which is really important when eating. I would not recommend wasting your time. You will be waiting to be made fun of at this restaurant. My wife and I have been coming to NYC from Louisiana for 5 years to visit my daughter who lives in Manhattan. We look for all the top rated places to eat each time we come to visit. We have always loved the people and the awesome food all over the city, but we've never been treated so rude as we were the morning of Tuesday March 26, 2013 at this restaurant. Waiting an hour and a half for a table is not a problem for us, but once we got inside we were laughed and gawked at by the two waitresses and the water boy the whole time. All because I asked for a glass of water. If the owner would have been monitoring his servants that day he would have fired these 3 people. It all got started when I asked for a glass of water after the orange juice had been delivered to the table.The italian in me wanted to lash out at these people but I am not about making a scene in a restaurant. The highly rated taste of the pancakes does not reflect the attitude of the servants in this place whatsoever. I was so ready to leave that I could not tell you whether the food was tasty or not. I ended up spending 75 dollars plus a tip for 3 orders of pancakes and orange juice for my wife, daughter and myself. What a huge let down to my daughter who wanted my wife and I to be treated to a place she has been a few times. All of us were telling friends at a social the same night, not to waste your time going to this place. But if you are ok with extremely poor service then go ahead and give it a try. read more

If you haven't been to Clinton street bakery yet, youve missed out on some phenomenal pancakes. But beware!! You will be waiting at least an hour and a half, depending on the day and time you decide to swing by the restaurant. If you can, check into the restaurant so you can get your name on the waiting list, go do whatever else you need to do, and then return back. If you time it just right, you won't need to wait too long to be seated. Ok, onto the food itself! If you read the other reviewers, all you read about are the pancakes and it is no joke! It is definitely worth it! My review is more about the eggs Benedict. The dish was elegantly Prepared, even after we told them to rush the order because of a time constraint I had on my part. They still took the time to make it look just right, so it earned some points with me. The hollandaise sauce was a little salty to my taste but the biscuit and ham cancelled that out real quick. It was a nice balance of sweet and salty. Overall, no complaints from my end. As for my girlfriend, she had the plain pancakes with the maple butter and she still gives it five stars each time she has it! Food wise, it is five stars all the way, but the only complaint would be the wait time. I signed up on the list and waited almost two hours before I got seated. I had to keep checking up on the guy with the list to make sure we didn't get bumped down accidentally. Each time I asked, the wait time got extended another 20 minutes. I recently visited Clinton Street Baking Company with my cousin, who was visiting from out of town. We decided to try their pancakes, which are often hailed as the "best in NYC." Let me say, they were far from it--these were the worst pancakes I've ever tasted. They were doughy, lacked any flavor complexity, and tasted like plain flour and milk with no hint of vanilla or anything else to elevate them. The blueberry compote was equally disappointing--bland and lacking the distinct sweetness and tartness you'd expect, likely made with out-of-season fruit. We ordered the blueberry pancakes based on the waitress's suggestion after asking for recommendations. Her response? "I don't eat pancakes, but they're popular." I would've appreciated her honesty if she had just said they weren't good because she was absolutely right. In addition to the pancakes, we ordered a side of apple chicken sausage, which had decent flavor but was overly dry. We also tried the chicken and waffles, which were just okay--nothing memorable or worth mentioning. The service didn't help either. It was lackluster, with long wait times for food that ended up being a massive letdown. To make matters worse, the waitress noticed the uneaten pancakes and still charged us for a dish I clearly did not enjoy. Overall, the experience was incredibly disappointing, and I wouldn't recommend this spot for pancakes or anything else based on my visit. CASH ONLY - did not know this when I went in, and was surprised since they get such good business. Luckily, I had a friend spot me. I put my name down on the NoWait app on Sunday at 11:30, and was seated at 1:30 for a table of 6. I liked the openness of their location - with the windows and bright white them. They get very busy, so it took a while for our server to take our order, but they were accommodating. We got blueberry pancakes and chocolate pancakes ($15 each) to start for the whole table. The majority thought the blueberry pancakes were better, but I'm a chocolate lover! Regardless, the pancakes were very fluffy and moist, and the syrup was a great complement because it wasn't too sweet. My friend and I shared the Southern Breakfast ($14) and the Spanish Scramble ($14). The Spanish Scramble was good - the omelette was super flavorful without being dry, and the hash browns were good but I would've preferred them a little more fried. The Southern Breakfast, I would definitely get again. The cheese grits had a subtle flavor, and went well with the fried green tomatoes. The sugar cured bacon was probably the best bacon I've had, but I definitely wouldn't have been able to finish all of them as it can get too sweet at some point. I would definitely come back here again if I were in the one-mile radius for the No Wait app, and had time on a weekend. read more

I recently visited Clinton St. Baking Co. during their highly anticipated Pancake Month to finally try the famous apple pie pancakes ...and they did not disappoint! Since it's located right in the city, parking can definitely be a challenge. There's no street parking, but thankfully there's a garage close by, which made things much easier. This location is smaller compared to their Clinton St. Baking Company - DUMBO location, and you can definitely feel the difference. It's a tight space, but still cozy and welcoming in its own way. Even though it was packed, the service was impressively fast. The staff kept things moving smoothly, and we didn't feel rushed. Now for the food, absolutely amazing. My husband and I both ordered the same meal: the apple pie pancakes (of course!), eggs with cheese, and chicken sausage. I paired mine with a fresh-squeezed orange juice, while he enjoyed a mimosa. The pancakes were delicious! Fluffy, flavorful, and everything you'd expect from a pancake. I do wish there had been a few more apples in the topping, but honestly, it was still so good that I can't complain much. The bill was very reasonable for the quality and portions we received, especially in NYC. Overall, it was a great experience, and I'll definitely continue to be a supporter. I considered giving Clinton Street Baking Company 4 stars because of the subpar hostess job, but I didn't think it was fair to the best fried chicken and pancakes I've ever had! Went here with some co-workers for the first time a few months ago and I've been back two times already with my wife. The fried chicken platter is simply amazing. Delicious, moist, fried-golden and A LOT OF IT. Cole slaw is nothing to gawk about, but still yummy. Pancakes and waffles or crispy and fluffy, a combo rarely seen. The pre-meal biscuits are also to die for - ask for jelly/jam, because it doesn't come with! The only bad part about this restaurant is/was the hostess. Two times I've been here with my wife and her table hierarchy always baffles me. First time we were clearly there before two other couples and both of them got seated before us. When I asked, she said that they were here before us, which was BS. Second time there were again 2 other couples, making a total of 3. Two, 2-person tables opened up and we were all pretty much fighting for who got the tables because she gave them to the first person standing there (not the first person who made reservations). Nevertheless, the food is just too good, and I didn't think it would be right to give it anything less than 5 stars. Will be going back soon. Prices are reasonable. read more

Surely it cant be that good? Why is it so hard to get a lunch reservation? How good can a pancake get? These questions and more were all answered when I visited for a late 3pm lunch (the only reservation for 4 i could get). They were: - yes it can be that good - because the food is so yummy - really damn good Clinton St is nestled in a convenient location in LES, and is constantly bustling with activity as new yorkers scramble to get their quality pancake fix. I came at a sun drenched cold winter day and the clamor with breakfast food smells upon entering was more than inviting. The food, lawd the food was fantastic. Pictures are attached and honestly they dont do the food justice. I dont think anything except going yourself and eating then would really do the experience justice. The pancakes were delightfully fluffy, faintly sweet, and almost crispy on the browned surface, serving as the perfect accompaniment to their maple butter and colorful toppings. The waffle was decadent with the berry jam being a exquisite tart contrast to the sweet cream. The latkes were crispy and dense, delicious with the sourcream + apple sauce. The bloody mary... wasnt mine so i cant speak to it but its pretty. Mid meal i was on resy looking for the next open lunch table. So there' a little backstory to my experience at Clinton St. for brunch: It was after my first night in NYC, where my dear friends decided that marinating my liver in vodka was a splendid idea for my east coast initiation...sooooo I was extremely hungover. The end! My sister and I were the first ones to get to Clinton St., so we were seated promptly by the window, which allowed us to point and laugh at the less fortunate who hit the brunch rush (totally kidding...but we were thinking it). I ordered the Brioche French Toast (caramelized bananas, maple butter, walnuts) and my sister settled for the Spanish Scramble (chorizo, cheese, the usual etc). I wasn't a fan of the French Toast only because the maple butter tasted like orange liqueur--I even had my sober sister attest to this awkward flavor combo. So it wasn't because I wanted to hurl the contents of my stomach out...I swear! The scramble was uninspiring, but good god, the potatoes were a little buttery fluff of heaven that God shat out of his delicate ass; they seriously got 'em potatoes down to a tee. In short, it was nothing out of this world, but the basics were executed well. I've been to the Cliton Baking Company, a couple of times. Once around dinner time, and then around 11am.. There was no wait during the evening hours. Ofcourse there was a wait around 11am. The host said, 1.5 hours "maby even more"...... So, I took the advice of the others and got it to go.. They pack the food up really well... They have their own shopping bags. All together, I got three different items. The French Toast, The Eggwhite omlet, (mushrooms, goat chese) and The blueberry pancakes (ofcourse). I'm not a big fan of French Toast, but it looked really gr8 (I think some1 else postd a pic).... The eggwhite omlet was really good... Fluffy. I was thinking maby, I shouldve asked for additional veggies.. But it was good as is.. The only thing, I thought it had 2 much cheese. (but that's just my preference, I like a very small amount of cheese, and it wasn't overkill, just a tad much 4 me). Now for the blueberry pancakes... CSB is known for their pancakes. I ordered the blueberry pancakes and Latke Eggs Benedict, and there were some highlights to my meal. The blueberry pancakes were the perfect texture, with steaming hot, fluffy pancakes that had a soft middle and crispy edges.
