On our first visit we met April, who gave us plenty of space to look around without bothering us. When we were ready, she walked around with us, showing us options that met our criteria, and patiently answered all our questions. We weren't ready to buy, and when we communicated that, she understood. A couple of weeks later, after thinking through the different choices, we came back. April was by then on maternity leave, so we worked with Briana, who was equally friendly, knowledgable, and low-key. The transaction was smooth and painless. No last minute charges, no pressure to buy extended warranty (though one was available if we wanted it). We arranged for financing with our credit union, and that was fine, too (no pressure to take financing through the dealer). On the day we arrived for pick-up, they had cleaned and prepped the trailer, and Luis gave us a thorough walk through, making sure we understood how everything worked, from the smart hitch to the a/c to the slide-out & etc. We had been to another, big RV dealership months earlier, and were so traumatized by the high pressure sales tactics and endless (endless!!!) "follow-up" phone calls that we were paranoid about shopping again, but we had heard good things about Family RV, so we took a chance. Glad we did! I highly recommend this place; we would definitely buy there again.

The office folks continue to try and skew and bend the truth. Side maker lights work was never approved or requested which is documented in email. Damage happened twice on my rig at this shop. Once was covered and fixed, the second damage occurrence, they are denying responsibility. I also paid for all this work far in advance of it being done, in full, which was my mistake, clearly. We are now in small claims court unfortunately due to the company's inability to stand up and do what's right. I think this all started due to the employee we started with Ron who is no longer working there. Originally contacted Family RV to make a 7pin pig tail for our Lance truck camper. That pig tail wasn't done right or something happened to it, intermitent issues with turn signals and brake lights. Decided to take the entire rig in for service to get a new furnace and some electrical work done. New furnace is great, they did work I did not ask for or approve and charged me for it. The rig also was damaged while in their care, exterior was hit and punctured a pretty good hole in the front of the camper. They provided us with a free rental since we had planned to use our RV. That rental's slide out stopped operating at the RV park... They couldn't find the short for the electrical work I asked for... Short story 5800 dollars, a new furnace, repaired damage caused at their shop, the same short, and a new pig tail. We are now in small claims court to get some of the money back for the work that I didn't ask to be done and electrical work that was never identified or fixed. Will definitely not be going back here again.

From day one, David was genuinely friendly, extremely knowledgeable, and, most importantly not pushy at all. He worked with my family for months, patiently helping us narrow down the exact model that would truly fit our needs. We never once felt rushed or pressured, just supported and well advised. David went above and beyond, not only helping us choose the perfect RV, but also taking the time after the purchase to walk us through everything. Since this was our first RV, his hands-on training made a huge difference and gave us the confidence to actually enjoy owning it instead of being intimidated by it. On top of that, the entire La Mesa customer service team was fantastic, friendly, responsive, and clearly focused on making sure customers are taken care of. If you're looking to buy a Winnebago (or anything from La Mesa's massive inventory), David Jimenez is the person you want. We couldn't be happier with the experience and highly recommend him to anyone considering an RV. Cheers from Nick and Grace

I purchased a ~$200,000 Storyteller Overland van from La Mesa RV (Fremont), built on a…read moreMercedes-Benz Sprinter chassis, and this has been one of the most frustrating ownership experiences I've ever had. Even the purchase process should have been a warning sign. While finalizing paperwork, the finance manager at La Mesa RV openly acknowledged that issues often "fall through the cracks" between Mercedes and Storyteller, and then aggressively pushed an extended warranty--going so far as to say it was "stupid" not to buy it after spending this much on a van. At the time, it felt inappropriate. In hindsight, it feels like a clear warning of what was to come. From the very first drive home, I started getting battery warning lights. Within a month, the van broke down completely on a trip to Los Angeles and had to be towed after going into limp mode. I was told the battery was replaced and everything was fixed. It wasn't. Since then, the van has repeatedly failed to start, including being completely dead after sitting unused. I've now had to call Mercedes roadside assistance multiple times, most recently being told to let the engine run to recharge the battery--only for it to die again immediately after turning it off. At one point, even roadside support noted flickering interior lights suggesting deeper electrical issues. What's most frustrating is that none of this was disclosed upfront: * La Mesa RV never mentioned these known battery drain issues * Storyteller Overland never explained that the vehicle cannot sit unused for more than 1-2 weeks without requiring a battery tender or disconnect system * Mercedes-Benz has not taken ownership of diagnosing or resolving what now appears to be a systemic electrical problem Only AFTER I started digging did I hear from a Storyteller representative that these issues are widely known and tied to vans sitting for extended periods before sale. So let me summarize: * I paid ~$200K for a vehicle I cannot rely on * I've spent 20+ hours troubleshooting and coordinating service * I've had to tow it and call roadside assistance multiple times * I still do not have a functioning, dependable vehicle * And no one--not La Mesa RV, not Storyteller, not Mercedes--has taken responsibility or offered a real solution Instead, I've been bounced between companies, each implying it's someone else's problem. This feels like a system where the dealer sells it, the manufacturer builds it, Mercedes supplies the chassis--and when something goes wrong, nobody owns the outcome. At this point, I genuinely believe I was sold a defective vehicle without proper disclosure. If you're considering buying from La Mesa RV, a Storyteller Overland van, or anything built on a Mercedes Sprinter platform, do your homework on these battery and electrical issues first. I wanted this van for adventures with my family. Instead, it's been a time-consuming, expensive, and deeply disappointing experience.

BE CAREFUL there, one sheet is blank which they will fill out the mileage and other charges. We took off TV from RV as we have children and the TV mount is not stable, very loose. Not to mention, all the drawers are not able to securely lock which makes the drive very annoying. We forgot to mount TV back when returning and made another trip to return TV. James' assistant mentioned it is not an issue and she will mount it for us over the phone. Guess what!!! James charged $145 labor for mounting TV back. I kept email him regarding the unreasonable charge and it is a safety concern of having a loose TV mounted. There is no record for mileage charge when I return RV so I can't argue the overcharge of mileage. However I calculate the mileage based on our trip route at google map, it is 100 miles overstated. If you feel you have extra money want to waste, here is the place to go.
